A very nice place, and on rainy nights you fall asleep wonderfully with the sound of rain falling on the picture. Therapeutic!

A basic affordable hostel, but run by one of the nicest families we came across in six months travelling around South America. They gave us lots of advice, assistance and recommendations for things to do in the area. Really recommend it.

I enjoyed my stay at this great hostel! Due to the staff, you feel more at home than at a hostel. Great community spaces and activities. Very good advice for activities in Tena and the region!

Great little hostel in Tena. The owners are happy to help point you in the right direction for adventures around Tena. We visited the waterfall they suggested (for $1.50 entry fee) and we had it to ourselves! We also saw the 400year old tree which was breathtaking and stopped by a near by town where a troop of monkeys played and one hopped into my lap as I sat (he just wanted a comfy seat and my lap was it, no harm done:) The room came with fresh towels & soap (no hot water), motorcycle parking (which is a must for us), daily room cleaning, with common areas for cooking, dining, chilling or yoga. You’re welcome to cook but they also make breakfast for $3. No laundry for guest use unfortunately. Affordable place close to city center in this beautiful jungle.

I would recommend Zumag Sisa to anybody — from any country. Pablo, Marcia and Jay are incredibly hospital and will make you feel like you are staying in a home away from home. For under $30 we were able to stay two nights, with breakfast and dinner included. We were even included in helping to prepare a barbecue for the entire staff and visitors. They set us up with a great, organic tour of the Amazon that we wouldn't have been able to find anywhere else. The rooms are clean and there is a great rooftop with a hammock and tables to pass the time. I made some incredible friends and can't wait until I return. My favorite hostal I've stayed at yet!

Great hostel for those who wants do enjoy Tena. Close to city center but also quite. The owners are lovely people who are very helpful and might even take you on a family trip. Can highly recommend.

I wanted to stay for one or two nights and ended up staying for a month! The owner's family — Pablo, Marcia and their daughter Jay became my Ecuadorian home. I combined kayaking, jungle experience and practising Spanish in Tena and Zumag Sisa was a perfect base for all of that. Definitely one of the best hostels I have encountered during my half a year trip in Latin America. I loved "my" room — the 8 bedded dorm under the roof on the 3rd floor. The rooms are simple but very clean and perfectly serviced every day and the hostel has got everything you need. But the real treasure of the house are Pablo and Marcia who have a great heart and know nearly everyone in Tena and around. They are very helpful in providing insider information or in arranging trips around Tena. Pablo himself took me out for an incredible week adventure trip to the Huaorani tribe on Rio Curaray deep in the jungle. We combined canoeing, fishing, watching the animals and staying with authentic local communities. It has been one of the highlights of my all south American adventure! Marcia, Pablo, Jay (and also Candy and Martina — the family's dogs) Thank you! I will be back! The Loco Checo.

Zumag Sisa was a fantastic experience! We liked it so much that we decided to stay even longer than planned! Marcia and Pablo are the best. They really made a great a effort to make us feel at home! The place is clean, close to the center and creates a chilled atmosphere. The hosts also helped us a lot in planning our trips to the most beautiful places around Tena. I highly recommend a stay at Zumag Sisa, you'll have a great experience and a nice view laying in the hammock on the roof terrace!

Wonderful staff! Not the greatest hostel, though. The actual accommodations themselves were a little below average, but not bad. Appropriate for the price. The staff were the the absolute best, however! Very friendly and accommodating. Willing to get up at 4:00 in the morning to help us check out.

I did a semester abroad in Guayaquil, Ecuador and visited Tena for a weekend. Not only is Tena and the surroundings a truly beautiful place on earth I´m also so thankful and happy to have stayed in the Zumag Sisa Hostel. The owners Marcia and Pablo and their cute daughter were really nice and I felt immediatly welcome. They even helped us organizing a trip and showed us some things in the near areas. Also the breakfast was great. I have never eaten better patacones and really enjoyed the nice atmosphere in the hostel. I would recommend this hostel to everyone and go back there anytime!
