Amazing spot up in the hills, surrounded by lush greenery in the vibrant town of Tena – gateway to the Amazon.
Toni and his wife welcome you like family from the first minute. Everything’s super easygoing – they help organize pretty much everything, and the breakfast is honestly next level.
They really care about the environment, which was one of the main reasons I chose this place. Ask them anything – they know the area inside out and have a ton of ideas for trips and adventures. They're way more than just locals.
Just come and see for yourself. Oh, and they somehow speak like ten languages – so no worries about communication.

We stayed there for 3 nights and arrived later than planned. After a phone call they said it was no problem we can check in anytime we arrive. Gave us tips for taxis and how much to pay them max to the hotel. The accomodation was great, you can hear nature sounds from outside, but we liked it really and it was relaxing. There is a eco-toilet, which gets changed daily — so no minus-point for that, because you know it when you book it! The next day we did a jungle hiking tour with tony — it was great, he speaks spanish english and german, fluently! He knows everything about nature. The tours are great, can recommend the Napo River tour — something we will never forget! And the prices are fair once you experience what its coming with, dont worry about it — WOW!
Breakfast was freshly made and they will make every of your wishes come true.

Our stay at hostal Pakay was fantastic! Tony and Erin were so welcoming, friendly and helpful! The rooms were cosy and the main deck area a great place to relax and eat breakfast. We did 2 tours with Tony, both were very fun and we learnt a lot. 10/10 would recommend!

Hostel Pakay is a gorgeous relaxing retreat, we were absolutely spoilt by Erin & Tony with delicious breakfasts, joined the primary forest tour which was spectacular wading through the Amazon swamps & we also did the Napo River Tour which felt very respectful & we loved the bliss of floating down the river on tubes. Erin also helped organise a birthday surprise for my friend which was so appreciated. 10/10 recommend staying here.

This place is a gem! I went on a combination of jungle and river tours with Tony, all of which were amazing. The hostal is beautiful and serene. I loved falling asleep to the ambient sounds of the forest. My wholehearted thanks to Tony and his family for making this leg of my trip memorable. I hope to come back someday!

Our family of four stayed here for four nights, and we absolutely loved it. We did two tours with Tony, and he is very knowledgeable and friendly. We did the primary forest hike and a night hike, and both were great experiences. Tony and other staff also recommended great places for us to visit on our own. We were there in April, and Tena offered lots of great tourism activities without crowds. Most of the people we interacted with outside of the hotel itself were from Ecuador. Some of the places we visited are run by Kichwa and Waorani communities.
The breakfast was delicious, and they offered optional dinners at a very affordable price. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and the room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Our family had a rental car, which was nice for visiting areas around Tena. It was fun to practice our Spanish with the staff who did not speak English. Tony did the tours in English since one of our children does not speak Spanish.

The stay at pakay Hostel was one of our absolute Highlights in Ecuador. The Hostel has a beautiful garden, calm and relaxing atmosphere and Tony and his family are the most warm and welcoming hosts you can imagine. The breakfast was fresh, super delicious and more than enough.
We did a rafting tour with Tony that we can 100% recommend. The tour was perfectly organised, with very qualified guides and all the equipment needed. We felt safe the whole time and enjoyed the incredible landscape while having a lot of fun with the rafting.

The best hostel, extremely clean but a jungle feel to it, breakfast was great, the owners incredibly attentive and friendly. Great location, 20 minute walk into town but far enough from the action you can still wake up to the sound of birds.

We had the best experience in Pakay hostel! Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Very authentic hostel, feels like you are sleeping in the jungle. Rooms very basic but this was not a problem, we loved the place. We also did a jungle tour with them, can highly recommend.

Tony and Erin operate this hostel in an eco-friendly manner. Their use of a compostable toilet in their cabins is fantastic. The cabin we had was super clean and comfortable. They served an excellent continental breakfast and both Tony and Erin were excellent hosts. Tony organizes adventure tours.
The property is very well maintained and the plants and flowers are beautiful.
I highly recommend this hostel.

Affordable SUPER Quiet, lovely central area and well appointed rooms with screens on windows so you can sleep to night sounds♡. Very few if any mosquitos.

Tony was the best tour guide we could have asked for. We went water rafting with our 4 and 7 year old. They went out of their way to make sure my girls had the absolute best time. Rafting definitely made our trip to Tena a memory we will never forget.

Best hostel I’ve stayed in — the guys made it so special and the place is a literal oasis — Tena town doesn’t have much to offer but not necessary, would love to go back one day. Very authentic and fun but chilled too — perfect. Saw so many cool animals and did some cool activities in the day — 10/10

Excellent hosts and great tours offered to get a taste of the Ecuadorian Amazon region. My brother and I enjoyed our time in Tena.

This is a great place to stay, for sure the best option in Tena.
Beautiful scenery, a little oasis on a busy and noisy town.
But is actually the people, especially Tony, that make this place special.
Tony guided us to one one of the best hikings we did in Latin America.

A lovely, friendly and ideal spot for anyone visiting Tena. Family feel with all the staff very welcoming and kind.
Lovely home cooked meals for breakfast and dinner if you want for a very good price.
The rafting with the hostel was excellent — very fun, lunch included and super safe. Highly recommend!
