Beautiful resort, food is great, lots of variety on the buffet. Very clean resort. Beach is amazing, ocean warm, great to swim in. Staff friendly and happy, they talk to everyone, no one gets left out. I love this place!

Had a great time touring and swimming in the ocean hotel staff vary friendly only down fall was the guys trying to sell time shares.

Front desk staff were amazing. We upgraded our room from your typical hotel room to a suite since we had the teens with us. They were very accommodating and very friendly. Not all staff greeted you with a smile or hola like most places. The shows at night weren’t that great. However the activities staff were amazing, friendly, and always lots of fun!
There is NO FREE Wi-Fi in the lobby as advertised.

The grounds and hotel were very well kept. The rooms could use some freshening up though. The food was very good, decent selection everyday. The beach for the most part was well kept (seaweed cleaned and trash picked up). Plenty of activities to stay entertained. Staff has been more friendly and attentive that other resorts we've stayed at. Best place on the beach for sunrise and sunset (being on a point)!

Beach. Resort is beautiful. The food is an 8-9 (if I ate fish it would be 10). Rooms are spotless and well maintained property. To be honest you need to check out all the resorts and then you will find out this one is the best!
The worst one for food is BeLive! Leftovers leftovers leftovers. Was there 2 weeks and the last 5 days I only ate breakfast. Was just disgusted in the food they served and Expected guests to eat.

This has to be the worst resort ever, beside the dining staff and maids doing their best to make you cheerful this play straight up sucks. The front counter staff are implorable should be unemployable where to start 1. First thing had to get our keys fixed 15 times in the first 3 days same excuse day 5 they changed the lock and had no issues. 2. Ask to exchange some American currencies so I can tip a staff member was told they only exchange to pesos, I then said I would like to buy internet for the day they then stated the remainder will be payed in pesos sent my friend down and they had no issue doing it for him… 3. Order a room safe key was told $20 for the week $10 refunded after the key is returned after my 7 days were up was told it was $4 per day my math is pretty good they didnt ask for the remaining $8 dollars guess Clarivel Cappllan have a good time with the $10 she ripped off 4. No internet in any room only common places 5. The activity staff were awesome with the poor excuse for equipment they were given to entertain with you guys and gals were great. 6 food was medicore but doesnt sit well with a lot of people not the cooking staffs fault All in on this resort was a 2 star at best dont waste your time or money coming to this resort there is way better places then this.

They have many cool activities. The beaches and rooms are nice. There is a bar in the pool. The buffet is by the beach so you can enjoy a great view while eating. However the variety of food lacked.

This place was absolutely amazing. The food was great. And the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and smelled amazing, the drinks were flowing very freely. Go to the beach side it is great as well. The sand and water are so beautiful. They have a hospital on the property as well as a mall a definite must go. The infinity pool is the place to be. Will definitely be going back.

I loved this resort is beautiful, the food is delicious, the rooms are beautiful everything is perfect for that reason I will come back.

I would definitely go back. The hotel is not big, which for me was a plus. It has No luxuries, but the room is quite comfortable, clean and with everything you need.
The food is very good. Drinks are average like all hotels. I would improve the pizzas and renovate something pool. Otherwise very nice!

I liked it when I went, by the way there was one of the animators that was terrific.

We are disappointed. We stayed at this hotel because we had a FUNERAL to go to. Our problem was the people that were servicing. Check in and out staff did a pretty good job, I had no issues with them. The entertainers were amazing. I had no problem with them. My problem was with the servers (all except Carlos, which gave us impeccable service) the lights went out at least twice per day. 2 out of the 4 days that we were there. The servers would not come to us because we were spanish. They specifically reserved all of the tables for others that were not Spanish. They divided us completely. My son (With Autism) Nephew (with Autism) and Uncle (with Down Syndrome) were constantly being told to shut up and sit down. My Son, whom is THREE years old starting laughing because the guys came to him and told him to shush… my son thought the server was playing with him because it is something that my son is currently learning in school. The server told us that we had to leave because he was making too much noise. I did not eat dinner for two days because I didn't want to return back and have some uneducated fool try to dictate what my son should and shouldn't be doing. When Carlos was providing the service, he was patient and assisted us in order to make sure all the kids were comfortable.

Very helpful staff, good food and a very clean place.

Was worried about this pace at first. We stayed in the super saver room and I was so surprised that there were two full bedrooms. It was very clean too. They provide water and pop daily. Staff is amazing! Everyone is amazingly friendly and polite. The food was delicious although, if not for the yummy al la crate I would have gotten tired of all the food. There is a lot of choices for food. Ask for the cappuccino… it sometimes takes WAY too long to get a coffee and cappuccino in the morning but tipping your waiter/tress helps the service a lot.
Go to the cove side of the beach to protect you from wind… there are very little seats on the beach and you have to get up early to grab one.
I am going back next April. I was so impressed.

More than two hours the room smells like mold facility seen amazing on pictures but in real looks old and needs tons of maintenance food taste good but that is because is full of (MSG) highly allergic to it so end up with stomach issues the alcohol is cheap probably tented alcohol I didn’t even try it because issues is been with people dying of alcohol poisoning I’m glad I got it on sale my company was the only great thing about visiting this “resort” oh the Casino is ClOSED.

For the price this hotel costs, there are better options in Playa Dorada. It's a simple hotel.
What I do not like: — Old structure — no free Wifi (others if) — do not include a safe — telecable and TVs are lousy.
— Very small rooms — no 24-hour snack.
— The air conditioner was not 100% good in my room.
— There were No ice machines on my floor.
What if I liked:-the food is good. The snack also — good beach — good pools (several) — there is a pool with bar, roofed.
— it has a play area — it has a disco — parking is a simple hotel, it's not too much to know, I don't know if I would go back, there are others with better quality for the same price.

Amazing place. Nice and kind staff. Extremely energetic and positive people from entertainment crew. Delicious food. Beauty, clean and renovated rooms. I highly recommend to everyone!

Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad Malo bad bad, I came for a family trip that we were invited, but better I kill before returning to this hotel, the snack is maaalooooooo the bread looks like a brick, the service is lousy, the check in Lentisimo, you'd better pay for a cabin and don't come to this hotel.

The staff in the rooms are very friendly. On the other hand, at the reception only one person was kind and gave the right explanations. Wi-Fi is only available in some places and is not free. Improvements to toilet maintenance near the beach. Too much loud music, lack of calm, a corner with more relaxed music would have been appreciated. The food is varied and very good. Beautiful beach and beautiful look at Mount Isabel with the sea.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Almost all wishes are met at the lobby.
A must is the cable car. The botanical garden is worth seeing.
Here, black taxis run for 25 pesos per person. In the front panels are letters that lead to the respective destination.
For the excursion to the waterfalls, an underwater camera is recommended as you cannot take a mobile phone with you.
If you have no desire to reserve the couch in the morning, the security guard will take care of the spot for a small fee.
There are no umbrellas!
The beach is bordered by right and left by a sentry.

While I enjoyed my stay at this resort, the people were very friendly, the food was 9 out of 10 and my room was always clean the biggest issue is the fact that there is no place in the resort where you can sit and enjoy yourself if you are a non smoker. I was one of 30 or 40 people who stood on the beach in order to watch the nightly entertainment because the cigarette and cigar smoke was so thick not to mention the cigarette butts on the beach even though resort personnel were out every morning with rakes to pick them up. We could not sit at any of the outdoor bars without smoke coming out way. I would not recommend this resort if you have children and are concerned about second hand smoke. Families were leaving the games room because people were smoking.

The good: — overall resort was small/cozy so everything was close, the pools, the bars the restaurants and the beach was all a very short walk away which was very convenient. — spacious room had two balconies, over looked the main pool area. Had a small kitchen space a living room and separate bedroom with closing doors. Two closets, one in bedroom one in living room. — The beach… was amazing. My absolute favorite part of the resort. Clean white sands turquoise/blue water. Clean no seaweed, no rocks. Not too salty, not too too calm. A few fun low waves. Loved it. — The views: mountain sides and beach views varied depending on the side you where on but all oh so gorgeous. One of my favorite things to do was linger in the open breakfast buffet area after breakfast and take it all in, sights, smells, sounds. — Super friendly staff. Everyone is always so happy and ready to take care of you and make sure you have everything you need. — Cleanliness, I like that everything was very neat & they kept the public areas in the resort very tidy. — The crowd was very mixed all age groups, not a lot of kids. Didn’t see one child in the kids pool my whole stay there but did see two families with children under 5. — The food: breakfast was my favorite good selection. Lunch was good as well as desert. — 24hour hotel taxi services available.

The hotel is not the big deal if I compare it with the other hotels I have gone to in the same resort. I would recommend it only if your budget is limited. I have proposed to visit all the hotels of Playa Dorada Hotel complex and I only have a few to visit. Within the shortcomings I found in this is the fact that they don't usually vary the menu. I practically ate the same thing every day and so I let it know in the evaluation at the exit of the hotel. Another observation I have of this hotel is that there is a lot of evidence that the waiters atiendamen mostly whom they consider will leave exaggerated tipping. I do not like it because they should serve well, leave or leave no tips. You compribará it when you visit it. The rooms are nice, the views beautiful and the facilities very conserved and clean. But as I said, if you want to be treated like a king, go with your open wallet ready to splurge money just so you don't have to pick up the juice or the water yourself. The shows? Crap. You better go watch movies at the cinema that's right there in the complex.

We Travelled with Our Band and Arrived late at night We were all very tired but the staff tried very hard to get us all in and comfortable the next day any changes needed were taken care of. There was so many Happy faces and kindness from the staff all around! They were fun and Friendly and Accomodated Special requests and Needs of our members who had physical limitations and went over and above what we expected to help make our stay more comfortable. The Views were amazing and the Food An incredible adventure in Variety! Something for everyone! I wish I could thank so many but too many to name! We All enjoyed playing our concerts for You and will remember our time with You Fondly! We recommend this resort!

It's not very good, or unless when I was there it wasn't. There is no variety of food, and the rooms don't look very comfortable but they have excellent attention.
The beach is not very clean at the bottom.

Very old hotel, stayed there at the end of December 2017. There is a glaring lack of maintenance and renovation. Although the section of the buffet is new, no other party other than the VIP (and no one has access except VIP) has been renovated for years. The food was good and the rooms were fine, but it was regularly lacking in hot water for the shower. There is no parasol on the beach and very little around the pool. No nice place with couches to have a drink, only resin tables with plastic chairs. Overall the place is clean, but old. I do not recommend staying there.

Try to take shower, they didn’t even have water not to mention the hot water… Then called the front desk twice, they said they didn’t have hot water in general and it’s the water pump problem so we didn’t have water… what kind of resort it is…

Cooee area very good. You can get on top of the clear with German. All employees tried very hard. Rooms are in need of renovation. Especially the bathroom.

November 16-23 Sandy-Toronto This was our 4th visit at this hotel and considering it is under renovations, we still had a great time! Room was clean, food was great even though it wasn't the bigger variety that we are use to but still delicious. We noticed a difference in the dessert options, normally I was not interested and the new variety was yummy! The bartenders are awesome, the animation team are amazing and the restaurant/snack people staff are great! We can't wait to see the upgrades in April 2018, when we come back for our 5th visit with more of our family because they want to see for themselves what we keep talking about.

Our trip in November 2017 despite the renovation work at the buffet we had a very nice week. The room is comfortable and very clean. The food was very good and a great variety. The beach is beautiful white sand and very large. On the other hand, the Dominicans are a little busy. The staff is very courteous and friendly. I forgot my sandals on the beach and I picked them up the next day thanks to the security guard on the beach. Animation during the day and the evening varied and fun. The service is trilingual.

Super striving at the Cooee. Drinks great eat in this area lace (the theme restaurants don't taste good). All around a good hotel. Highly recommended.

Very good hotel. I wish I had seen it under pressure of lodging, but the day we were many had cancelled by the passage of Matew by the Caribbean.
Good food, I made a middle league weird and that affected me, but it was my fault. I do not understand what is missing variety that some mention. Planning a menu for so many guests is somewhat complicated and there were quite a few options. The snack can get better. But with several choices of food up to high hours faith the night is a luxury.
The show… Night… Must certainly improve. The disc 100% well. The entertainment staff on the day and evening excellent. There was a young woman (she cut her short hair she lives in Puerto Plata) very attentive to the children. In my group there were several and they loved it. The rooms are clean and the room is clean and the bathroom is clean and the pool is good. TV too late. Good place to go back.

This was my very first resort in the Dominican Republic! Absolutely loved the beach and the environment is nice! Didn't liked the food, they need to have more options of food, pretty much same thing every day, and also the swimming pool was kind of dirty with leafs!

My boyfriend and I were there the week of October 13-20, 2017. Since it is low season, the resort was quiet. There were a lot of older couples and groups, especially from Germany. There is currently renovations happening around the resort. The main buffet is closed and is due to open sometime in November. The food was good and the a la carte was good as well. Would recommend the Italian. Our room was clean and resort was kept beautifully. The beach is amazing! For those looking to snorkel, a great area to see the coral reef. You just have to snorkel on the other side of the beach closer to the other resorts. Animation team did a great job interacting with guests and trying to get guests to participate in the daily activites. Overall, we had a great time!

We stayed there 2 weeks and had the Cooee area (something like VIP). So the holiday was really pleasant as we were always cared for. Also the staff is very very nice.
Positive:
+ Separate area on the beach/bar from 18 years (no children)

+ Additional selection of snacks and drinks
+ Beach Service
+ Separate evening restaurant (must be reserved)
Negative:
— Little umbrellas (but there are plenty of shade under trees… The chairs are cleaned daily by the "Baumdreck"
— Waiter at the evening restaurant where one has to reserve several times our reservation Verschludert (or he had overlooked the second page of the list to control). We always got food but the sound and behavior of the waiter was not always professional.

Worst holiday I've ever had (and I was stuck in a crack alley in San Francisco). I was given a room from the 80s with a broken tv. Every time I left my room someone was trying to sell me something (staff and beach vendors alike). Every 15 minutes on the beach I was hounded by vendors who wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. This was supposed to be hour honeymoon and my spouse and I have agreed to pretend this trip never happened.

5 stars only in the Cooee area because this is a "Select" area. Although at an additional cost but very exclusive, quiet and without children, no noise, great bar with delicious cocktails and even better snacks from morning to evening.

Recently I stayed at this hotel and the service was good. They are doing some improvements. The food and drinks are good and people is very nice specially front desk reception staff, they gave me a good welcome. Thanks to my friends Carlos, Francis and Pedro.

We stayed at this hotel in august for my cousins birthday and my first trip as well, I loved the pool and swim up bar. The location is perfect the beach was beautiful. The staff were amazing, the entertainment group were so friendly and interactive with every single guest and tried to get them to participate in every game they could possibly do. The disco was cool. The food was amazing and so was the a la carte. Our hotel room was good and clean when we got in there. No problems with bugs or anything. My overall stay was great! I recommend this hotel, it truly is nice,

The Grand Paradise is not worth the money that it asks for. I was booked from Jan 27 — 2017 to Feb 3 — 2017. Booked a superior room which means you get two rooms with a kitchenette and that's it. Mattresses comfortable. My room was facing the garden but I couldn't see it because the windows were locked and I only had a view of the peaks of the hotel not the garden. From the bedroom I could hear the ocean but had to stand on the bed to view the ocean and again I had the view of the peaks of the hotel. The shower just pittles out water and in order to get lukewarm water you had to run the water from the sink and the sink of the bathroom and wait a good 10 mins. Before the lukewarm came. No joke! Being on the fourth floor you have to climb stairs which is fine because it's exercise but then had to climb another flight to get to my room. Housekeeping was excellent love the smell of javel. It means you disinfect. The animation was fun. I found the food bland and it's ok because they have to make for the masses but it was very good. Others told me they found it salty. The bar is not fully stocked and the barmen do not know how to make every drink. Anything you ask for tastes the same maybe he should go for some bar-tending courses and stock the bar accordingly. Service is curtious and quick. It also helps that you slip them a dollar american for better service and it's their earnings. They only get paid by the month. Remember that. Many other little details.

The beach is located in a closed area. However, tourists are allowed.

Check-in was easy and luggage was brought to the room. $1 tip per bag is expected.
The room room is air-conditioned, this also works great. You can set the temperature or Only allow the air to circulate without actively cooling. The TV is a bit old (tube) and the transmitters are Spanish and English. The bathroom has a shower bath with curtain. A basket of soap and shampoo is also available. There are also makeup cloths in a box and a hair dryer.
There is a safe in the room. Keys and lock for this cost €4am a day.
Wi-Fi is available in the lobby, pool and bar. Wi-Fi for the room is not offered.
To the pool This is open from 9am-7pm. The water in the pool is clean and there is a "volleyball net. " There is also a bar in the pool and by the pool. Lungers are free of charge. The hot tub is large, but has no heated water. There's music running by the pool. It also offers animation such as darts, water aerobics or water polo.
For the beach loungers & towels (for deposit: Towel card — these are available at check-in at the reception) free of charge. The beach is clean and fine. There are vendors for everything on the beach. These annoying very many times.
To the sellers you want to sell and if in doubt they make it for almost any price. In addition, care should be taken to ensure that there are no shells or corals on the jewelry (etc. ). Export ban!

Everything about this resort was just amazing! The staff, the food, our room, the beach, entertainment… EVERYTHING was just so wonderful and relaxing. They even have a casino by the lobby. I enjoyed my stay especially because their service was great and the staff would go out of their way to help accommodate us. They even roasted a goat on the beach when I was there for the guest to enjoy. Will be visiting again :)

Very beautiful place. Good resort for "bounce beat" a good long weekend. It only bad was it food, but is completely passable.

I didn't like how it was so hot all around the resort. The only places with AC were the rooms and the night club. Fans would be nice especially for dinner. My family and I were sweating eating dinner and in the bathroom. Get to the snack bar as soon as it starts because the food gets bad. The chicken wings made everyone go to the bathroom, but they were really good. Breakfast, lunch and dinner had good food but it makes your stomach super sensitive. The bar closed at 10 where you could then go to the nightclub from 11-1 and get drinks. After 1, no more food and drinks which was annoying. The facilities were clean, but the free activities (basketball, mini golf and shuffle board) were in terrible condition. You get what you pay for I guess.

Hotel is older. Service is great at restaurant and front desk. Bell boys the best. Anything you need you will get. Sometimes a little slow but they are busy. Food is pretty good. The grounds and beach are looked after good. I love going to playa dorada. My family does not like as much as me but that's ok. I have a great time.

The beach is nothing in comparison to Cuban and other Caribbean beach destinations. Vendors harassing you on the beach from massages, to cigars to time shares and everything in between. Can't take no for an answer. Didn't get the room which was requested by our travel agent and the front desk demanded our group pay more to upgrade. We paid top dollar for this trip. Extremely disappointed with the resort and Air Transat Holidays. Very limited amount of umbrellas and beach chairs, only great thing at the resort was the food. The resort is rated 3.5 stars, more like a 1 star.

Short of stuff Old building need urgently a renovation or better maintenance. Bed sheets old Rooms have weird smell. The ugly Mould at the bathroom and window curtains. Ours was black of mould hard to see if we didn't check them but that was the reason of the bad smell and some respiratory problems Finally. So sad and disgusting to see old men bringing very young Dominican girls to the hotel. I notified our tour representative but I can't see that changing. Everybody looks to Another place when these girls arrive.

I can't even give this a rating! Worst Resort ever, just returned from a week there. EVERYONE in the resort was sick. Two people had to be taken to by ambulance to the hospital. The entertainment staff and service staff were friendly and very enthusiastic, but unfortunately, that does not make up for the illness and poor sanitation. Pay extra. So anywhere else.

Horrible place got back 2weeks ago staff were not really helpful as they should be, once you make a compliant nothing ever gets done massive massive insects in our room. Food presentation horrible food looks like crap and taste like crap. The place needs a serious makeover and be careful not to over spend because they would try to sell you anything sellable or unsallable both inside the hotel, on the beach, and around. The beach was located right at the back of the hotel so that wasnt too bad as it was a walking distance and because I have 2 kids that was very handy. If you have booked this hotel already and reading this then try you best to enjoy as much as you can. Our only consulation was that we tried as much as possible to stay out and only return at night.

If your not a vip then it will be a nightmare for you here. No hot water. Rooms are smelly with lots of problems. And if you complain the management ignores you. Changed into six rooms they week we stayed. After we became vip then they changed there attitudes. Have to beg for towel. Everyone that ate buffet got food poisoning. Management unfriendly but workers are very pleasant. Better hotels in the area.

I was not pleased with my stay at Celuisma. There was only one restaurant at the resort, there was only one pool in the whole resort. The rooms smelled awful, the lobby's furniture smelled as well. In one word, this is the WORST resort I have stayed at. I do not recommend it to anyone.

The worst hotel in Dominican Republic. I went there once and will be the last. Rooms dirty, with more odor and old, bad food, worse treatment don't waste your time going to this nonsense.
