Super disappointed with the service, we went to redeem some points product of visiting hotels of the intercontinental chain for more than 20 nights in other countries where the quality is very good; but unfortunately in my country we do not receive the best service. From the entrance, we do not know if because we are nationals we were not provided with the vale parking service, no one helped us with our luggage, they did not give us the correct information, the fire alarm was activated many times we called reception to corroborate what happened and they never answered the phone and we were charged additional breakfast that in advance they told us was included and to end the bad experience the service in breakfast was still a worse.
Very different experience when we redeem points with other chains where the service is the same as any other or better why they recognize loyalty.

The facilities need to cool down, deterioration is already being noticed. For the quality that is supposed for prices and quality in terms of attentions to the guests, at the time of breakfast included, it was a terrible experience… They mix outsiders with guests and you can spend more than half an hour in line to get in to eat… Already Intercontinental Costa Rica is not worth taking into account when it comes to comfortable accommodation.

Rooms and other areas of the building need to be renovated. We spent the weekend, the front desk staff was not friendly. Upon check-in they offered the possibility of late checkout and upon requesting it on the last day they simply said no without any kindness.

This is a lovely hotel, staff was very attentive. Great choice of restaurants on location, hair salon and awesome spa.

Second time here for a conference Common areas are nicely done with local accents! Very clean Staff at check in we're efficient and friendly. Restaurant staff at The Market we're on top of what you needed. Always there to refill water a day coffee! Rooms… beds are soft with pillow top mattress and plenty of pillows. Rooms are clean, bathrooms spacious and we'll maintained. The only drawback… no shuttle to or from the airport, but that's an Uber or a taxi ride!

This is a beautiful hotel. I've been told it's the nicest hotel in San Jose. The room was immaculate and gorgeous. The food in the Pimento restaurant was delicious. All of the staff we've encountered have been very helpful and gracious.

The rooms are old though and leave a lot to be desired. There were stains on the floors and the best sheets had tears in them. The bathroom floors are dirty and the beds were lumpy. The TV had limited channels. Overall a nice stay but for the money, I would like the rooms to be updated.

This hotel is very nice. Rooms are generous and we'll appointed. Common areas are beautiful. Pools are splendid. Restaurants are lovely and staff are great. You get what you pay for, however, this is in the suburbs so expect to ad 20+ minutes to any tour you do with a group or if you want to go to the downtown area for sightseeing.

Amazing service, three pools and a hot tub! The room even comes with a pillow menu (free) there are amazing black out curtains for luxurious sleeping. There was a man playing the piano live every night. There was even a spa and an amazingly large gym. Definitely recommend!

Very large rooms. Breakfast spectacular. Very good service. Gym and pool great level. The only bad thing is the location, for someone may be good because it is a very quiet, for others it may be bad for you because it is far away from the center.

Great hotel. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. However, the employees lack personality. From the bellman to front desk agent to the service in the restaurant and housekeepers. No personality and often walked right past you and didnt speak. If the room could speak it would be the only inviting and welcoming soul in the building.

Amazing hotel in amazing service. Was upgraded to the VIP Tower and also given lounge access as an ambassador. Love the VIP check-in as well and the hotel really goes above and beyond. The food in the club Lounge is amazing and includes and multiple dishes throughout the day as well as cocktails in the evening. The pool area is beautiful and love taking a night swim in this beautiful setting. Truly a great property and can't wait to come back.

Luxurious hotel. It has a high profile. In addition to hotel, it is a convention center where many events such as seminars and business fairs are held. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is very good.

Breakfast is spectacular, lots of food options, very good rooms, the super well equipped. The Wi-Fi! Better than my house. I'm happy. Congratulations.

A real five-star hotel. Unparalleled atmosphere. East of the Capital.

Customer service can be a hit or miss at certain times with this hotel. For the most part they are decent but you will run into the bad ones plus there are times a room won't be in the best condition. Consistency seems to be an issue here for some reason at this high class hotel. For example beds tha may not feel completely clean, phone may be broken, lights that may be burnt out, etc. It is better than most hotels in the San Jose area but it has problems. My most favorite thing in this hotel though are the restaurants, I highly suggest visiting them and giving them all a try. Quality of the food is good but they do get full at times. Overall worth a stay.

Went to eat here and the food was amazing. The service and superb, the ambient was positive and the attention was friendly. They have multiple types of food for each palate and you won't be sorry when you visit on their restaurants. Just quality, great atmosphere and friendly service sll the way. Highly recommended.

Good hotel of standing, decoration a bit old-fashioned but good services and a welcoming staff. The rooms are OK and the bedding is good.

Beautiful, the gardens are spectacular. It has to the bottom rainbow trees, which are not easy to find in a hotel. Wonderful pools to relax in. Breakfast is epic… they have everything and delicious.
The rooms are not bad, maybe they would need some little tweaking as there are usually problems with the taps from the showers, but hey, if they can fix it and if you don't change rooms.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.

There are 5 restaurants, some more exclusive, so that you can go to an informal meal, executive or gala, the food is very good, prices range from $15 with tax included.

Great hotel. Great SPA Sauna Turkish Bath relaxing area. The fitness center is not bad, large, you are missing dumbbells, bike spinning and a device, but it has kettlebells and you can make a good functional work. Lovely swimming pools that are not suitable for training. Outdoor Jacuzzi. Good breakfast. Several restaurants are nearby. The Italian liked me. The japanese great.

Beautiful hotel with lousy service. Phones in room didn't work. No ice bucket in room. Couldn't call for room service so went to front desk. Was told they would send up ice and phone service man. On hour later still got neither. Went to front desk again. This time they sent ice. Still waiting on phone repair 1 hour later. Also, don't bring a lot of phones, iPads or cameras to charge. The few outlets they have are in inconvenient locations.

Excellent hotel, the only bad thing is the parking, sometimes there is to go to the park to the mall.

Staff was the best I've had anywhere. I would gladly stay here again. Rooms were nice — not over the top. Amenities were nice and clean too.

Very nice and elegant hotel. Rooms are big, comfortable and clean. Big bed with a lot pillows. Bathroom was wide and clean as well. Outside pool area is beautiful and well decorated. Location is not really good but access to the city and airport is easy and not far. Overall a very nice hotel with great staff. Would recommend.

I cannot recommend this hotel for the following reasons: 1) 20-minute, slow check-in process; 2) The room assigned was not cleaned, unmade bed, towels on the floor, and room service meal remains were on the desk emitting a strong onion smell; 2) Returned to check-in desk, requested another room, and another delay while they checked the reassigned room; 3) Attempted to charge a higher room rate than listed on our reservation. While $270 per night ($239+taxes) is excessive in this market, they initially listed a base rate over $300/night. 4) Placing an $850 credit hold for "incidentals" upon check-in is ridiculous; 5) Upon check-out (another 20-minute process) they billed me for 2 nights or two rooms, I guess the dirty room and the cleaned room. 6) Then they claimed that we reserved for 2 nights. Fortunately, a helpful clerk (young woman) found our reservation that clearly showed both a 1-night reservation and the original room assigned as crossed out and the reassigned room listed. I signed for the $270.07 charge and we departed. 7) Upon returning home 9 days later and reviewing my charges, the $850 hold charge for "incidentals" was still "pending"; 8) I had been charged $270.07 in two separate charges, apparently for both rooms. I emailed Real Intercontinental San Jose, Costa Rica, and they "are investigating. " Folks: You can probably find a more competitive hotel and if not, review your charges carefully.

The restaurant The Market is good, the best salad bar!

Very nice hotel but certain aspects of customer service are spotty. We are here for 11 days and so far we have had to go to front desk 4 times in the first 4 days because our keys were constantly deactivated. Finally they fixed it for the rest of the stay, we hope. We also tried to call the spa to book a massage and no one ever picked up, I let it ring for 10 mins. We did not end up going to the spa because of that. Restaurants were average, nothing really stood out. The club tower room is modern and comfortable. Room service has been prompt and excellent. Room is clean and housekeeping a pleasure. We haven't spent too much time in the pool, but they keep it clean. Great mall across the street if you have some time to kill. In conclusion, would I stay here again for pleasure? Probably not.

When I travel I always try to stay at an Intercontinental hotel. This hotel is first class. There is a special check in for ambassador members. They are very helpful. Rooms are what I expect from IHG. Pool area real nice, it was real windy when we were there so going in the pool was not happening. Food and restaurants are all excellent. They were doing construction on the parking lot which was not a big problem. Enjoy your travels…

Hotel very comfortable and nice but any problem you have is going to go through a bureaucracy of third world, spent 50 minutes and had to go to 8 people from different departments to fix the lock of my room.

I'll give them this. They managed to find rooms for our 100 person group at short notice when there were technical issues with our cruise ship. That said, the room I was assigned had malfunctioning air conditioning. When I told the desk, he was unconcerned. Only after I insisted, did he offer to send a repairman. I went back to the room and waited. And waited. I couldn't call the front desk to tell them I was still waiting because the phone had been unplugged and had no charge. Only after getting our group leader to help did they offer the solution of moving to a room with functional AC. The internet wouldn't work and the concierge blamed my iphone instead of looking for a solution. There are other places in town with nice rooms and nicer staff.

The service and experience was first class. The conference I attended included CEO's, Ministers and a President and everyone was treated like royalty. I applaud Intercontinental for their dedication and attentiveness to individuals needs. At meals there was a waiter there to assist even before I could turn fully around to look for one. Language was never a barrier and the welcoming atmosphere was encouraging. I highly recommend it for any function or vacation you may have in Costa Rica.

Very clean typical American style hotel but impersonal. Very comfortable beds and friendly reception. Expect prices for food to be high. We took a cab into town and had excellent local cuisine at la Criollata for a quarter of the price. Pay attention when the busboy calls for a cab from the hotel. He did not use a meter and charged us 11000. Colons. When we returned with a cab from the same area the meter was 6000. Colon.

The tower rooms are more updated rooms than the older ones. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Has a ton of great places to eat there and an excellent spa.

One of the best hotels anywhere. Breakfast was wonderful. Several restaurants from which to choose. Good room service. Great bar in the lobby or get a drink by the pool Spa staff is fantastic and has many services. Easy walking distance to the Multiplaza if you want a more budget friendly meal.

For the price the room is old and small. Needs improvement. Not even a water as a gift. The employees are nice but they don't go beyond the minimum. It has nice restaurants but too expensive.

Rooms are a bit dated and not in great condition. It's located next to a mall so that's convenient. Will need a taxi to go anywhere. Location is not that central. They have 3 swimming pools which are great for adults and kids alike. Water is kept slightly warm. Oddly enough, the jacuzzi doesn't feel warm enough. They also have a sizable gym. On location are 3 restaurants. Breakfast buffet has a pretty good selection, an omelette station and a good variety of fresh juices/smoothies.

Check in was quick, the bell boy helped us immediately when we arrived though we had to self park. Parking and area are safe. Walking distance to a great mall with restaurants and shopping. The hotel has quite a few restaurants. The spa is very nice, has a salon for hair and nails, pool area is great too. Room was clean and spacious! Check out was very quick.

The Market has amazing burgers and pizzas, and pastas… actually the hotel has great food selections.

Hotel on the outskirts of san José, rooms comfortable and spacious, good restaurants and friendly attentive. It has a shopping centre opposite. It penalizes you its location.

At my arrival the bathroom (the tub), and wash hands were dirty, I changed room. The rest ok.

I had a large and comfortable room overlooking the pool area. The hotel had some nice restaurants with very accommodating staff. This hotel has a heavily used bar on the ground floor that had live music in the evenings. Additionally, it is located next to a nice mall.

Easily the best hotel in Costa Rica.

I think it was the best lodging that Costa Rica had to offer. My experience was ok. Shower was chronically broken, services were very expensive for the mediocre quality, and the staff rather aloof. But no one raped or killed me, so there is that. Colleague who visited earlier in the year had a terrible experience, and swore a sacred blood oath not to return. Myself, I would probably stay there again.

Horrible…. Horribel service and very rude staff at the restaurants. I recently tried to dine there with my expat family, and encountered a very rude hostess who would not give us an idea of a wait time for a table and ignored us…. I will NEVER go here again to dine.

Extraordinary hotel. I had the loportunidad share the stay with the visit of Obama and the President of China and the experience was amazing. Recommended 100%.

This hotel is extremely overpriced as its rooms are old. Internet connection has been down for almost two days with no decent explanation from staff. Id recommend staying somewhere else.

The Intercontinental is everything that you can expect from an upscale hotel that provides business services, including an exclusive executive floor. One of the best benefits of this hotel is that it's within walking distance from the bank (only exchange currency at banks in CR for the best rates) and the mall, Multiplaza. This hotel also hosts nice events throughout the year, like a luncheon on Costa Rica's Mother's Day.
