My husband and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our recent stay at Hotel Presidente. The staff were extremely helpful, the lobby is quirky and modern. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, with lots of variety, and we ate at the restaurant every night of our stay because we enjoyed it that much. We stayed for two nights when we first flew into San Jose and ended up booking our last two nights there as well because we enjoyed it so much.

The hotel is very nice. It's in a great location. It's a five minute walk to all the different museums and parks. The staff is extremely kind and accomadating. Breakfast is included, and it's very good. Free Wi-Fi which is also good. The rooms are also very nice. They're clean and big. The one I stayed in also had a hot tub. The rooftop terrace has a nice view of the city. I'd definitely recommend staying there.

Marcel was amazing. Love her! The staff so kind. The included breakfast was delightful. Lovely experience.

It's the second time I've been to this place and the gin & Tonic are escepcionales. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great location, decor, rooms and facilities. Visitors should be warned that the parking is rather inconvenient, with a small gated parking lot across the street from a smaller and narrow parking area in front of the hotel. Just narrow enough for a row of cars to park horizontally, and a single lane of cars to get in and out. We got three superior rooms. Two had very nice large complimentary hot tubs but only small unfrosted windows. The other had just a shower, but two larger windows with an ok view of the city, and ample space. We only stayed a night, but the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was great — with someone making your eggs to order among other selections.

Excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff, I highly recommend it. The free breakfast is actually incredible food, and the free coffee that you can get any time is equally delicious (which I was surprised by, as I'm sort of a coffee snob). Rooftop restaurant and bar is convenient, with excellent food and mixed drinks. San Jose was only a small part of my trip to Costa Rica, and not necessarily the part I expected to be impressed by, but this hotel definitely made the experience for me, I genuinely had a great time!

Can reproach to do if not the noise of the street but is in the Center reception nice and efficient.

This comment is for Bar-restaurant rooftop: I had never felt discriminated before are idiots, the place is nice but I was treated very badly.

This review is on the roof. Even though the place is nice, what pressure with the reservation, I was asked 5 times if I had one (the answer was yes). After I already asked the type of the entrance, the rest I step unnecessary and unkind, especially because in the last 3 I had already attended. We had only 3 tables, and the service very slow, I guess because I thought I had no reservation, despite the 5 times they confirmed…

The bar called Rooftop Street 7 is excellent. You have to make reservations, the simplest way is through the Facebook page. The service is somewhat irregular but the good cocktails. They don't serve dishes but rather tapas.

Charming hotel, whose modernity and interior very design offer an appreciable contrast with its location, in the center of San José (it is difficult to do better on this side). The rooftop bar and the terrace are splendid, in an atmosphere both cosy and full of good humor. The drinks and tapas offered are excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

Located in a nice area if San Jose. One block away from a main Street with various shops and restaurants. Rooms were very clean and smelled really good. My favorite part about the room was the shower. Great water pressure and warm water. Buffet style breakfast was also great. Hotel has sort of like a hip vibe to it. I will definitely come here again if visiting Costa Rica.

Very nice Hotel in the Center of San Jose in Walking Distance of the pedestrian zone. Staff is friendly and accurate, breakfast great (for Costa Rica). Try to avoid room 503, it is large and comfortable but without daylight because there is no window. Visit the rooftop terrace for dinner or a drink.

Great service, good food, desserts are a little bit small for the price, great view.

Bit of an odd place. The reception looks really up to date and chic, some of the rooms are really tired. I guess they are in the middle of a refresh. Arrived having booked a room with a jacuzzi, got to the room, no jacuzzi. Back to reception to be told they don't have any rooms with jacuzzis. Offered us a room with a bath which looked nice but didn't have a bath. Went for lunch while they sorted things out, during which time they had sorted a room with a jacuzzi. Breakfast was ok but badly organised. Staff were friendly enough in general. The place has promise but needs to get its act together a bit.

The first room we we're assigned smelled of mildew. The sweet front desk woman helped to move usand the second room didn't smell. The lobby is lovely, as is the rooftop patio. The rooms are fine.

Very good hotel in the centre of San José: Spacious and comfortable staff very nice breakfast. Ideal starting point to visit Costa Rica and to make the last stop before the return flight.

The hotel is quite comfortable, in the city center. The entrance is a bit unusual, it is not visible from the street, think that it is not the main entrance to the hotel, to the entrance from the parking lot. The reception is originally decorated in the form of a terrace. The rooms are spacious and the beds are wide. Bathrooms are also large, but there are two showers that are included at the same time, only one cannot switch. The air conditioner is old, it can only include a temperature of 22 degrees. The breakfast is delicious, varied and nourishing. In January there was a pineapple and a watermelon. The staff at the reception are pleasant, English know well but the pronunciation is not very clear.

Very nice hotel in the middle of San Jose. We had two lovely stays at Hotel Presidente. Very good location right on the main boulevard. The rooms were very nice and furnished with everything that is needed. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, as well as the staff was friendly and attentive.

Great location. It's OK for one or two nights. You won't stay longer in San José anyway.

Haven't been in awhile. Things have changed. Most of the staff are new and although perky and friendly they seem confused as to what they are doing. Prices are excellent. Check in was good but we ended up in the wrong room. Unlocked the door and told no we need to go back down. Ended up in a huge room so again for the cost excellent. Breakfast worse than it used to be. Front entrance never open much. Closes 8 at night? Have to walk through the bathroom aromas and annoying pushy street youth to get in the side main entrance. The old front entrance should be open as the pushy street youth hang outside the patio restaurant and casino. No isn't a word they care to hear. Housekeeping great. Thank you Bryan and Jorge. Again and for 7 years construction noise. But after 5 or 6 years some areas not finished. Will come back but not as often as before. Things have changed, staff are gone, it's not the same.

Hotel Presidente is located in the city center of San Jose, so the location is fantastic. The main entrance of the hotel is just off the main street. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The breakfast consists of local foods and Britt coffee which is delicious! Staff is also welcoming and helpful!

I stayed here for two nights. The staff and cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is due to not being served a glass of wine by their rooftop bar at 11.30pm (the aren’t scheduled to close until midnight). I understand that there was only one table full of guests and the staff were ready to go home but if you advertise you are open until 12pm, I expect to be served a glass of wine at 11.30pm. The front staff rectified this problem but they shouldn’t have to as that’s not their job!

The hotel is located in the centre of San José, making it easy to reach many excursion destinations on foot. The hotel itself is very stylishly decorated — with the roof terrace as a special highlight.
The rooms are very spacious and offer plenty of space. If I should be back in San José, you will be my first start-up address for overnight stays.

Super personal decoration with small care high end service nothing to say.

During my stay at Hotel Presidente, my wife had a medical emergency and needed immediate medical attention. The front desk staff responded competently and without hesitation. Front desk staff was reassuring and accommodating. Amazing work… THANK YOU! Free long-distance calling back to the United States a plus as I did not have an international cell plan. Computers/printer available in the lobby area. To access rooms via the elevator, required your room access card key. Maintenance and housekeeping staff on duty late hours — which was ideal. Staff appears to really like working there, always friendly and pleasant regardless of their job duties. Rooms are equip with only the bare essentials. No microwave, however the restaurant will heat any food items. No ice machine, though the restaurant and the front desk has ice upon request. Before breakfast hours — coffee, water, tea, coffee cookies or pastry are available for guest off to early morning tours. Staff insightful and knowledgeable on tours pros/cons suggesting best days to take a desired tour. They offer courtesy umbrellas — a must if visitng during the rainy season. No free shuttle to/from airport, however they will coordinate transportation on your behalf for I think $35 or 40 USD.

Lovely hotel for the price. Very antique feel and look to it but done in a trendy way. The location isn’t the best but it’s not the worst. In the city center you have a few things to do but not a ton. The resto bar on the roof is to die for. The service is excellent and we very much enjoyed our stay.

Nice, trendy hotel in a somewhat rough looking area of San Jose. Located near plenty of markets and restaurants. The rooftop bar is a good time with a great view. The tapas and drinks can be a little pricey, and the service can be a little slow. Overall a great stay with a friendly and helpful staff.

Nice hotel but neighborhood is a slum. No pool. Wifi great in room but not in lobby area.

This boutique hotel has a fancy rooftop bar that serves cocktails, have a good selection of wine and tasty food. Expensive but the view and service are worth it. One of the only places that offer a complete view of San Jose.

Wow, what a find! This little gem, tucked up a discrete driveway off the main road, is a lovely place to stay. Right from the get-go you will admire the entrance up to the reception and spiralling up further the red steps to the rooftop bar — it's really rather smart. Very New York. Service too was impeccable. We were greeted in the car park and our bags were taken up to our room. The room itself wasn't really much to shout about. It was functional, but very clean and comfy. It just lacked the wow factor of the public areas. I would highly recommend Hotel Presidente to anyone staying in San Jose.

I am very happy with my stay here. I'm very satisfied with the price to what was provided. As mentioned earlier, the rooms are average but clean. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is satisfactory. Location is good, you're right by in downtown and within 10-15 minutes walking you're in the thick of everything. Best of all a currency exchange with a very fair commission, saved us a lot of hassle. Would recommend.

After a total of four nights at the beginning and at the end of each trip in Room 302 we can call ourselves very satisfied.   The room was very large and equipped with all comforts: fridge (empty, good for own things), air conditioning perfect, windows tight due to noise, but can be opened for ' airing ', hair dryer and many electricity connections available, large bathroom with shower and many cosmetics Articles.   Fresh water is put into the room every day, tastes good and is germ-like, almost everywhere in San José, drinking water flows out of the taps.   Two flat TV but unfortunately no German program, but also on holiday.   WLAN free and password secured, works perfectly throughout the house. We were allowed to leave the car free of charge and secured either in the yard or opposite and for each 20 bucks from Adobe to get or pick up to escape the cruel city traffic.
Were immediately greeted and freed from luggage. Already on the 2nd
 Day you felt ' at home ', as far as this is possible in a hotel.   Breakfast excellent, rich, fresh, something for everyone, also Huevos al Gusto, which are prepared live or orange press to do it yourself, what more can you want.   The building was a kind of department store before 1963, some interesting sales items from the time are exhibited in the lobby Museal: sewing machines, calculators, large lamps, projectors and all sorts of other utensils, very interesting.

We spent a week in Costa Rica and hotel presidente in San Jose was the best, great rooms, spacious super double enough to fit 4 in, great breakfast daily, great staff very courteous and helping always guiding you, So close to everything in San Jose — I think it's a great hotel in all would recommend to all coming to San Jose.
