Great service and drinks. Food was good also.

All service was outstanding especially at the bar. The only problem I had that was quite a disappointment was one of the receptionist Jose. Was not hospitable at all. Jason the manager had extended my diamond benefits to my cousin who was staying in a different room. When I stopped at the desk, Jose gave me the hardest time. He was acting like the cop of the hotel. At departure he interrupted my lunch to advise me he would have to charge me $40 US dollars for the two laundry bag I was using, a common practice in the US. Not only it was em are to be treated like a compliment he never apologized. I had to move my personal items to a trash bag he provided me. One person that is racist, homophobic or whatever he is can destroy a memorable experience. But overall it was a 10. The rest of the staff was amazing. Please provide training to Jose. He must realize he is not dealing with criminals but guests. Pura vida to tou all.

It has been an awesome time, the staff from the valet greetings at front door to the check in process to the amazing housekeeping staff who care enough to remember your name has been phenomenal! Not to mention the 5 Star meals served in the excellent Restaurant conveniently on the Main Floor, the servers go out of their way to make your dining e experience special, be it Breakfast with the to die for Weekend Buffet to every meal the rest of day.

A gorgeous hotel across from Teatro Nacional. We ate at the restaurant on the 5th floor Sunday and enjoyed our favorite waiter friend Roy from Grecia. We had the skirt steak with new potatoes — very flavorful and tender. I had the Spinach Ravioli. The sauce was to die for and ravioli stuffed with ricotta was yummy. Dessert: passion fruit cheesecake and pecan pie, CR style. Service was impeccable, meal a bit pricey $156 with six beers. The view stupendous. A great special occasion experience!

Would highly reccomend anyone to stay here. The hotel is amazing, great location, and they have the BEST staff. Through one of our hardest times, everyone from bellboys, receptionists, and restaurant waiters went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, safe, and as happy as we could be. We loved every bit of our stay and could not thank them enough. Excellent service!

Just checked in to the hotel and I can tell that they value the guest experience. From the bellmen to the front desk staff to housekeeping, everyone was on their game! They checked our temperature and provided masks and hand sanitizer for each guest. The rooms are sealed until the guest enters and breaks the seal. The room isn’t very large but it’s not extremely nice with everything I need to enjoy my stay. The room has an elegant look and feel to it. I’m more than satisfied! I will definitely stay here again when I’m in San Jose! Pura Vida!

The price they have per night with dinner and breakfast is AMAZING. Super well invested. The rooms food and spectacular service. Recommended 100%

Wonderful Hotel with an excellent bar and restaurant.

We were staying in San Jose for a night before flying out the next day, and we were very impressed by this hotel. San Jose was not my favorite city to visit, but I can say I'm glad we stayed here because it was walking distance to the mercado and the artisan market, as well as restaurants, shopping, and businesses. The hotel remodel is beautiful both inside and out and the lobby views are spectacular. The service was great and they even coordinated a ride to the airport for us.

Not impressed with the hotel. Yes, the hotel looks amazing both on the inside and the outside. But the rooms are small and expensive. Breakfast is exorbitantly expensive.

Not impressed with the overpriced and overcooked room service food. They also use way too much salt on their food. I ordered a Mojito and it came with kiwi in it and looked like it could glow in the dark. If someone orders a classic mojito there’s no fruit. I’m also annoyed with how there are no rollers or curtains on the huge frosted window in the bathroom. It lights up the whole room and I haven’t been able to fall asleep for the last 5 hours. I know it’s a hotel and things are way overpriced but this is a bit much. $15 dollars for 3 toothbrushes come on now. I’ve been to much nicer hotels and they at least have complementary toothbrushes that come with toothpaste. Yes, my fault we forgot them but that’s just ridiculous. So, after traveling all afternoon to get here I am not impressed by this hotel. It also doesn’t have a kids menu. I’m not ordering my 2 yr old an $18 dollar steak. News flash, people travel with kids.

Excellent hotel, great location, restaurant food very nice. The cleanliness is good and the staff friendly. Apart from the city is beautiful, the Tours to the volcanoes are really beautiful and essential. The coffee and the delicious chocolates.

This hotel was closed for renovation in February 2017 when I was there, is still under construction as of 2018 February. It was old but good taste of old fashion hotel.

For the moment it is in total renovation await to see.

5 Star Hotel recently refurbished.

A historic hotel, a landmark, excellent hotel.

I stayed here due to the location. The hotel is historic and has some beautiful details. President Kennedy stayed here during a visit to San José. When we stayed here, the staff was friendly and worked hard to make our stay a pleasant one. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: location location location. Clean linens, beautiful view on the plaza, big windows, high ceilings, fairly priced, breakfast included, quiet or thick enough walls, vintage" feel, historic, always someone at front desk, and did I say location! :p Cons: Wi-Fi did not work unless standing right by the door way, parking is $15/day (not included w/stay), poorly lit/improvised lighting in the bathroom, cold water for first 20 minutes of shower (may be a Costa Rican thing). I recommend.

The food riquizima very good atmosphere.

Excellent pizza, chicken, wood fried chicken, typical food and china. Good service, very good place to hang out with friends enjoying the karaoke in the bar located on the second floor.

Not a first pick for a hotel. My room was dirty, smelled and had no AC. The breakfast was not good at all and the chef was rude. This place has cool historic bones, it would be nice if it could be better managed and restored.

Place is a dump. Paid almost 100 dollars for the room. They jack up the price at the door. Showers didn't work. Room was run down and patched together. Noisy beds. Wi-Fi didn't work unless you hung out the window and we could see the router 10 feet in front of us. If the airline didn't loose our luggage we would have never wasted our time there. Make sure you ask to see the room first.

Bring your flashlight! Illumination levels throughout the hotel are so low you'll feel like a mole! There are few outlets for plugging in electronic devices, and none have 3 pronged grounded outlets.
