There’s nothing not to love about this hostel, It felt like coming home. It’s a very social hostel yet you can rest well at night. You can take private and (free) group salsa and bachata lessons, I highly recommend May she was an incredible teacher with a warm and big heart. There’s a bar on the terrace with cheap, good drinks and the kitchen is very well equipped too. Beds in the dorms were wide and I also highly recommend the private rooms because they are very spacious with either a balcony or a little garden so it’s great value for money. Highly recommend 10/10
Such an amazing hostel! We felt so welcome, the facilities are amazing, the café is really cute and the prices are great.
The free salsa and bachata classes were also amazing, as well as all the other activities they offer. There is a street food tour and a city tour and they also have a lot of recommendations for things to do (QR Code at reception and also a list of things inside or near cali in the kitchen area). Free breakfast was also really nice, 2 eggs and unlimited toast, oats, cereal.
The volunteers very so nice, very social atmosphere.
Kitchen is very nicely equipped, great for cooking. The Co working space is also nice.
My friend got very sick and they were so helpful. Gave us blankets, recommended a good hospital, the owner also texted us and asked us if we needed anything, if there was anything he could help us with. He offered to call us a taxi and checked in with us multiple times. I would definitely always stay here again when I come back to Cali. Thank you to the amazing hostel team at la palmera for making our stay so much better.

Honestly one of the most surreal conversations I’ve had.
I came in just to help a friend with her bag, not even staying. I get asked for my passport, then told I can’t be there because I’m “not a guest”. Fair enough.
So I offer to sit at the café and buy something. That’s when it gets weird. Suddenly it’s not about the rules anymore but “the way I speak” (homophobia? ). Followed by a very professional “I don’t care about your $2”.
So apparently you can’t enter, you can’t stay, and you can’t even spend money, all depending on the manager’s mood.
Didn’t get the coffee, but definitely got a lesson in what “hospitality” doesn’t mean.
Also genuinely looking forward to their reply, based on how they answer other reviews, it should be entertaining.
