Altio Hotel

Wow. I came to Colombia for vacation and this place blow my mind, too colonial, too beautiful and the staff too kind. Clean and beautiful rooms, friendly staffs, delicious breakfast and a great location. I'll give ten stars if that could be possible.

How is this considered a 4 star hotel? I have no idea! They have sliding farm doors for your bedroom which makes you feel very unsafe in your room. The staff isn’t friendly at all. I went down to ask for a towel and they told me they couldn’t get anymore as housekeeping was gone for the day, I went back and asked for salt and they said the kitchen was locked. The breakfast was subpar! They literally have you choose one of three flavored omelets and serve you some dried up fruit with a spoon of yogurt. They offer coffee or tea for breakfast no juice of any sort. I came to Colombia to get my teeth done so my teeth are quite sensitive, on TWO separate occasions I asked for a straw and they said they didn’t have any… again. Not too picky here but for a “4 star hotel”…Highly disappointed. 😡.
A waste of an afternoon switching hotels.

This is not a bad hotel for the price. Unfortunately the staff is not suitable for the job. According to Colombian law, non residents in Colombia, whether foreigners or Colombians are exempt from paying 19% taxes. I have been living abroad for almost 15 years, therefore I don’t reside in Colombia. Hotels ask for your passport to see the stamp and verify you are just visiting, but since immigration authorities admit nationals using biometric identification, some people don’t have stamps in their passport any more. They asked for my foreign passport which I provided, my American id, my plane tickets and my USA address, but because I don’t have the stamp, they charged me 19% taxes. I tried to reason with the manager and ended paying the amount asked which was not much, but I don’t think they acted fairly. Every hotel I have stayed in Colombia understands this simple situation but not this manager. The concept is pretty straightforward: you are visiting Colombia if you don’t plan to remain in Colombia. You prove it with your foreign passport, your ids, your address and even your plane tickets if you do check MiG and don’t have the stamp in your passport.
I would suggest to the manager and personal: try to inform yourself, try to acquire some customer service skills and treat your clients fairly if you want to have loyal customers. If you can’t follow this rules just don’t stay on business.

This place is very cozy and worth the try. I forgot my earbuds and they returned back to me. At night the sensor lights on the hallway turn on by themselves at the 3rd floor, review about poor bathroom design is very accurate. But is a great option if you are on budget. Breakfast is delicious and made at the moment for you. Give it a try!

Very nice place with excellent Colombian people, they are so sweet🥰 The rooms are clea, the Staff is very courteous and professional. The rates for the rooms are great and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this Hotel and all its' Staff, very great location right in the heart of Cali. I can't say enough about the awesome people and their customs plus food. Yum, super delicioso! I will visit Altio again!

Paid less than $160 for 4 nights — for how much it was, this was a great hotel with great value. Free breakfast was good and had a few different options, not sure why earlier reviews said breakfast was bad, maybe the hotel changed it.
However, the room was small, limited windows (depending if you’re unlucky and got one of the less nice rooms), and the shower was poorly designed. The half door made the water splash everywhere and they have this random turf outside the shower that’s also soaked with shower water all the time because the other wall of the shower is not fully a wall…
Some spots in the room were dirty (the AC remote was gross).
Great location though, it’s around many nice restaurants, cafes and bars so you can walk everywhere and it feels safe (police everywhere).

Great location rooms spacious if lacking natural light.

Not the most central and the breakfast will get heated by the microwave instead of freshly prepared. The rooms are clean, big, got AC and and everything you'd need (fully functional kitchen, the bath got shampoo, soap and conditioner, towels and you get a comfy extra blanket). The room's are nicely decorated and look kind of new so overall one of my best stays in Columbia.

Very well located hotel, extremely clean, very comfortable bed and great shower. The downside is that the rooms are noisy and you can hear conversation and TV from other rooms. Other than that it is great value for money with room starting at $45 US per night. Rooms have fridge, microwave and stove. Wifi works perfectly.

Wonderful place in cali. The staff was so nice and friendly. Unbeatable location with tons of restaurants nearby. The best thing are the comfy beds and pillows. It is great for quicks trips to cali. Just one night is perfet and convenient. I will be back any time soon.

It’s a great neighbourhood, however if you select a “superior suite” you can end up with a room that looks like a shoe box with no windows. You can get better options in the same neighbourhood for similar prices. We checked in and the floor was not cleaned properly.
