Hotel Dann Carlton Cali

Rooms are clean. Staff is friendly. Breakfast is excellent (huge spread, fresh fruits, juices, coffees, eggs multiple ways, plus other stuff). The food outside of breakfast is not that great. I've been to the spa twice for a facial and massage — also just okay. The beauty salon — life changing. Like they blew me away with how well they did my hair and makeup. I've stayed in this hotel 3 times, and this was my first time trying it. Holy moly, those girls did an excellent job. And they're quick. Washed and styled my hair in about 45 minutes. Another 45 minutes on my makeup.

Modern large hotel convenient for the city center. My room on the 10th floor of a tower that reached via an elevated walkway across a street. I do not know how the rooms here compare to the main building. The room was sparse, a small desk area and no other surfaces and few hooks in the bathroom. The key issue is that the room faced the Main Street and was noisy. Wi-Fi was good. No kettle or coffee machine in the room. The breakfast buffet was good especially liked the fresh fruit.

Be cautious about billing & charges at the front desk, especially if you are a foreign guest. Foreign guests are not! required to pay local taxes. Confirmed with Colombian DIAN. Guest Relations never sent any follow-up after contacting them.
For the hiked rates, the service here falls far short. More economical hotels nearby offer a smoother, more professional experience with none of the hassle I faced.

I had an awful experience at this hotel, starting with the rude and unprofessional management. To make matters worse, some of the employees clearly stole money from my room, which was incredibly upsetting. When I brought it up, the management was dismissive and didn’t seem to care at all. On top of that, they charged an absurd amount of money for visitors, making the whole situation feel like a scam. I felt completely taken advantage of and would never recommend this place to anyone.

My room was on the eleventh floor of the secondary building which you can only enter by the only bridge located on the second floor level. So it requires more walking to eat breakfast, visit the pool, enjoy the massage spa, go to the gym, or simply leave the hotel premises. Besides that the hotel is pleasant for lodging. At the pool I tried to order a drink with a poolside waitress, but there was a language barrier and she left me to never return. Eventually I had to summon a waiter 15 minute’s later to take my drink order.

Location:
The hotel is well-centered in Cali, making it convenient for exploring the city. It’s a secure area, with 24/7 police and private security presence, and taxis are readily available right outside the hotel.
Room Assignment:
Upon arrival, I was surprised to learn that the hotel has two towers. Unfortunately, I wasn’t informed beforehand that I’d be placed in the older building. Better communication during booking would have avoided this misunderstanding.
Front Desk Experience:
While the front desk staff greeted us, the interaction lacked warmth, making us feel less welcome than expected.
Room Condition:
The room was spacious and comfortable but had noticeable cleanliness issues.
There was dust on surfaces, and a musty smell lingered.
Pillows with blue covers were smelly, adding to the discomfort.
Electrical cables were exposed near the bed, which was concerning for safety.
The bathroom design was inconvenient, with no high border to contain water, causing puddles after every shower.
Housekeeping Issues:
Housekeepers entered the room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign being displayed, which was a breach of privacy.
Positive Highlights:
-The breakfast offered a wide variety of options and was enjoyable.
The luggage helpers were friendly and more welcoming than the reception staff.

Worst hotel experience ive ever had.
I arrive 5 hours earlier than check in… ofcourse I found a spot outside on the terrace to relax and wait as was very tired.
When smoking im told its not permitted and ask where it says it which it doesnt.
After this im approached by a police officer outside who asks what im doing which is clear that im waiting for my room. I show my reservation and security ask me to follow. Im greated hostily by the manager who tells me I need to leave as im acting aggressive when I did nothing but ask about smoking.
He then proceeds to act like im a criminal basically offending me and insinuating im a threat when I was basically sat down waiting.
Told to go reception and cancel booking with them as I wasnt welcone.
Genuinely the worst manager ive ever met, seriously stay clear and never bother with this place. Think they are above paying customers and will treat you like dirt.

This is my first visit to the Dann Carlton for the Fiesta.
Check in was very slow. Tediously slow. We also needed to complete the ticket purchase for the evening.
We were given a welcome drink and shown to our room on the 6th floor in the block away from the reception.
The room was pleasantly large and spacious.
We needed to request a change of room. The noise was defeafening. Not only from the road which I expected but there was some sort of water piping running through the walls making a very loud noise.
We were quickly moved to the 16th floor and a smaller room. I do feel they need to consider changing windows in all the rooms.
Safety Is good. You need your key card to move around the hotel and cannot access areas you don't have access to.
The breakfast is basic. Not much to shout about.
Overall would I stay again. Possibly not but for short stays location and price and service it ticks alot of boxes but don't expect an amazing experience.
I'm fairly sure this block will be improved overtime as there are lots of faults with the rooms. Noise. Water is too hot. No cold water option. Old furniture. No full black outs on windows. Hallways are a little dirty and dated.

I usually stay at another top location in Cali but decided to try the Dann Carlton for 2 of the three weeks this time.
The Dann and Dann Carlton are the same hotel but the Carlton part is supposedly a refurbished part which costs slighly more.
The positive part — Good location and easy access to taxis. The lobby and hallways of the hotel are quite plush and comfortable with a coffee bar on the ground and another smaller one on a higher floor. The staff were quite helpful as were the security who are vigilant on who enters. One receptionist even used her cell phone to help me call a landline in UK, as I had problems from my room, not having the correct codes. Breakfast was quite good, although occasionally I had to ask for bread etc. Probably best to arrive earlier.
The negative part — After being there just one night I had to go down to the reception in the evening the second night. To complain. The is absolutely NO soundproofing on the windows. The noise from the traffic was horrendous most of the day and into the evening. Although 6 floors up it was as if I was by the road. They offered me a diifferent room on another side of the hotel, which was in fact a free upgrade to a suite with 2 beds. Although this was ok the traffic noise didnt improve that much. I guess it was a business suite but it had hard wooden floors and no carpets in contrast to other parts of the hotel. Also I was awoken or disturbed quite a few times from a very loud slamming of a cleaners door.

I loved stay in that place, it makes me feel like I was in another planet.

Hidden fees that were not revealed in the original booking, having to go up a few floors than through a bridge than up another lift to get to ones room, or to get back to the lobby or to the breakfast room is annoying.
The room itself was not too bad.
The breakfast was reasonable.

Spectacular location, very comfortable. Close to tourist sites and very good gastronomy! The staff's attention is 10 points. Special mention to the taxi drivers who work at the hotel.

A wonderful resort hotel experience. The staff was attentive. The accommodations were top notch — the only reason for 4-stars on the rooms is that there was a persistent plumbing issue. The toilet would flush, but took multiple attempts…
The breakfast buffet was full of many notable favorites: Arepas, fried plantain’s, Pandebono, various styles of eggs, and of course, hot coffee or hot chocolate for the kids.
The exercise room had enough cardio equipment and weights to get a workout in. The swimming pool was clean, and our kids enjoyed having a place to cool off between site seeing excursions.
The staff was always helpful and attentive. We always enjoy staying at Hotel Dann / Dann Carlton hotels when we are in Colombia!

Great location and overall hotel! Was there for a week and got tremendous value for money! I enjoyed the proximity to awesome restaurants and the beauty of real Cali downtown. It was also close to the airport so very convenient. Making it my go to place in Cali from now on.

My room had bedbugs, I checked in at 11pm.
And by 3am it was unbearable but I was too tired to go to the front desk and request a change. I went at 6am and requested a room change and the front desk young lady said that the hotel has no rooms available at that time, only two beds. I requested an upgraded if necessary even though I would pay the extra. There was a gentleman with a backpack with the title of Sub-Gerente and without any sympathy nor apology said “we don’t have any rooms available on both towers”. Few seconds later the young lady was able to find me King size bed room in the better tower for the extra charge of $33 dollars, I immediately accepted. When I question about what are they going to do for me for the last few hours I spent in a bed with bed bugs, the young lady again asked the Sub-Gerente and again without any sympathy said “comeback later and speak with the front desk Manager”.
None of the front desk staff nor the Sub-Gerente apologized for the inconvenience and on top of that they charged me extra to have an upgrade to a room that was free of BEDBUGS.

I never write reviews, but I would not recommend this hotel, and it's not because of the amenities; it's due to the unprofessional management staff, particularly Francisco Lozano, the general manager. I came to Cali for dental work, and the clinic that performed the procedure also paid for my hotel stay. So, on my last night at the hotel, I got to my hotel room, and my key was turned off. I went to the front desk and as I was explaining this to the front desk attendant, out of nowhere, Francisco Lozano came and interrupted, saying, "You must pay now, or else you won't get your things out of the room. " He was uncontrollably upset, which was very confusing since the front desk attendant and I were having a laid-back conversation about the reservation. He was so upset that when I told him I had a message from the dental clinic confirming my reservation was covered, he looked at me and said, "This is how this is going to go; they need to email me your name and reservation information. " This is the email he gave me (Coordinatnocturn@hotelsdanncali. Com. Co). At this point, I said, "I apologize; this is just a miscommunication. " I said this in the hopes that he would see that it was an honest miscommunication between the hotel and the staff at the dental clinic, and maybe we could resolve the issue, and he would calm down. This did not work; he was still fuming.

Excellent site. Good service and delicious food.
