Price-wise, it's okay. However I had three concerns:
1. Security was lacking. The room doors were opened using a 4-digit code and they did not install a chain latch on the inside. There was a lock on the handle but I couldn't test if this would unlocked by the code. The lift was also free for all.
2. The lights on the AC was too bright. There was even a flashing icon lol. Eye mask recommended.
3. Soundproofing was lacking. Could hear someone aruguing from another room.
It is cheap and there is a reason; it's barely clean.
When I came in, I saw a small insect on the bed. I was scared it was a bedbug so I pulled the sheets, and discovered many MANY hair/hairs just below the undercover. The insect turned out to be a small ant, the room is infected with it, they were everywhere on my stuff in the morning. Towels and bed linens are full of dirty yellow spots.

Location: 4/5. The location of the hotel was convenient from Taichung Train Station. There is no main floor lobby, you must take the small elevator to either the 4th or 9th floor to check in. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. There is a Hi-Life convenience store nearby.
Security: 1/5. There are no keycards assigned to room or elevator, just a pin provided for the door. Anyone can access the floor hallways. Even when "locking" the door from the inside, my partner was still able to open the door with the pin from exterior.
Room: 1/5. In the room that we stayed in, the bedding was unclean and the water bottles in room were unsealed. They did not provide hand soap for the sink. When concerns were brought up to staff the next day, we were told that concerns needed to be pointed out within 30 mins after checking in. This "30 min" window is not listed in their terms and conditions nor posted anywhere. We did not discover these issues until late as we had left to explore the city after checking in. The staff did replace the bedding and provided new water bottles.
Service: 1/5. I found their response and lack of concern regarding the standard of cleanliness in their hotel appalling. Management was dismissive and refused to take responsibility. The emergency stairwell was also not adequately lit and access was not completely clear at the time. When this concern regarding safety was brought up, we were informed that floors 1-3 were restricted from guest access.
