Rainbow Lodge HK Hostel

Rooms are too small and one of them doesn't have a window, however the prices are cheap and the atmosphere is great. Met really great people there.

Probably the best cheap hostel around. The location was the best part about it. The rooms were quite cramped though, fitting 10 beds into a space that would normally fit 4. I assume this is most places in Hong Kong though.

Had a room in the main branch so can only expand on my own experience. Nice hostel. Small common room but its HK so hard to not expect a small space. Definitely get a SIM card or get data before showing up otherwise finding this place will be a nightmare lol. The location is incredible though and so centrally located. Really enjoyed my stay here. Make sure to take a stroll in the park behind the mosque! Flamingos and other birds galore.

Not as cramped and uncomfortable as I imagined it would be with 3 bunk beds. Clean, bathrooms were in good shape and had hot water and good pressure, nice common area with Netflix. Great stay! And good value for Hongkong for sure, also in the best location for ferries to other side of Hong Kong, to Macao and right next to MRT station and many restaurants, bakeries, stores.

Very nice if you get a bed in the main branch. It has 2 dorms there with a nice common area and big good bathrooms. If you get a bed in the other branch (they will only tell you after arrival) you are not lucky. Very slow Wi-Fi, extremely small showers and toilets (one of the smallest I have ever seen), only one sofa, no community because of bad common place. So just wish you get the good one!

Liked the location, the beds were pretty cosy and broad, the noise insulation to the common area was good as well. The other guests were pretty sensible and respectful.

Location is just beside Tsim Sha Tsui MTR. Very friendly staff. Help is given when needed. Can speak english.

As far as hostels in Hong Kong go this one is really nice. It's reasonably priced, it's clean, you get a just enough place to rest your head and your stuff. There is a cozy common room where people hangout. The environment is really friendly and welcoming and I met many cool people which is not common in other hostels in the area. The location is very central.

Rooms are incredibly cramped, I did not know you can fit 10 beds in maybe 9 sqm. But if you bring earplugs it works. Location is great, a little hard to find though. Enter the side street from Nathan road at the corner of kowloon park, then enter the building on the left where usually a lady offers massage. Inside take the elevator to the 5th floor and turn right. Quality of stay heavily depends on the people, as the rooms are very clairaudient.

It's basic accommodations. You get what you paid for. However the location was key. Easy to get to and from.

The people were nice there, especially the workers. The rooms and beds are very clean, and are cleaned often. Located in a very convienent location 2 minutes away from Tsim Sha Shui station.

Economical over the weekdays and a good place to meet other travellers.

Great hostel. The rooms were slightly packed but I think this is more of a Hong Kong thing then this hostel. Small lockers in the room for small important things. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The owner took us out one night and we had a great time. The common room was small and when I was there not many people were in it typically. The facilities were very clean and personal. The location was great and right around everything. Elevator was annoying, I took stairs usually.

Stay away if you value your money! I was willing to pay the hostel cash or credit card for one night, but they insisted on holding onto my orginal U. S passport. I offered them a copy, but they refused. There is no way I would leave my passport, so I left. They had my information and charged me for an entire week anyways. I am in the process of disputing it with my credit card!

Great atmosphere, great price for Hong Kong. Staff are awesome and actively run events.
All in all a groovy hostel.

A clean backpackers' hostel near the famous Chungking Mansion and Nathan Rd. Though the facilities are basic, great staff makes a huge difference. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Sam, one of the staff organized a dim sum outting for the guests out of his own free time. Great location also. I'll stay here again if I'm in HK again.

Nice cosy hostel in a good location. Great people and fantastic for the price.

Positives: communal bathroom and rooms cleaned everyday (even with bleach! ), free shampoo and shower gel, nice small communal area with sofas, tables, foos ball, free tea and coffee, Netflix. Also a toaster, microwave, fridge and freezer, laundry. Room has lockers, curtains and plenty of power points for each bed and air con. 2 showers, 2 toilets, 2 sinks. Space to put big bags in the room. Hostel organises group trips like morning dim sum tasting (Sat 1030am when we were there) or an evening trip to the horse races (Wed 1930). Good location, right by Tsim Sha Tsui entrance A1, plenty of nearby places to eat (not so much to drink) and withing 15mins walking to the pier, to catch the start ferry etc. And see the skyline. Negatives: shower head holders broken in both showers so bit awkward to shower. 10 people crammed into a tiny room, 3 sets of bunk beds of which 2 had 3 levels, this results in the beds moving a bit and noisy late evening and early morning with people coming and going. No curtains for the main window in the dorm, very annoying for people with bunks right by them. Beds a bit hard. By a reasonably busy road so can hear large vehicles in the evening/early morning. Atmosphere was OK but didn't really mix as there were a couple larger groups who stuck to themselves, I'm sure if we went on one of the trips we would have met more people. Bit tricky to find the entrance to the building but fine once you know, they do give pretty detailed instructions.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. A little tricky to get to as there are no signs, and I forgot to read their directions, but follow their instructions and you should have no problem. It's very quiet here though, but the location is great.

So close from the MTR. But you must ask people where is the correct entrance. The entrance was actually small, located between emperor and a shop. More detail photos may help the travellers.

Small little hostel. Good location. Common is facing the dorms so it can get loud if people hang out at night.

Hostel with a great location right beside the MTR, friendly vibe and helpful staff. Joanne has great recommendations. A bit tight on space (triple bunks) and showers that are run down. Come here to meet people enjoy a great location close to the water.

Great location (super easy to get from/to airport and central Hong Kong), clean rooms, has a laundry machine and enough showers for all. The hostel itself is very compact — but for me it only ment that the atmosphere was very cozy and helped people connect with each other. Staff are very nice and helpful and even took us to cool places to visit and eat. Strongly reccomend!

This has to be one of the best hostel I've ever stayed in. To me, my main criteria would be the location and this was perfect. There is a direct bus right to the doorstep from the airport. You can also take the MTR and once you exit, you're only few steps away to the hostel's building. It is located at one of the busiest streets of Kowloong so you're walking distance away to great food, bar etc. Besides the location, the hostel is constantly kept clean. They have someone coming in every morning to clean the place. Friendly staff who won't hesitate to help you. Had an enjoyable stay for 5 days. Will definitely come back here.

We enjoyed our stay at this amazing place. The interior is amazing and the vibe is perfect for young travelers like us. A big shoutout to the staff for making us feel comfortable all the time. They are the nicest! We would definitely go back to Rainbow. And we can't wait to doodle on their walls again.

Simple but very good hostel. Much better than your average guesthouse in the area.
