Hotel Senator

Spent a couple nights for Corb Lund concerts. Mattresses seemed older but still comfy. My wife had a great sleep. Room was clean. Bathroom was clean. Seemed quiet during the night. The front desk staff was friendly and awesome. I'd have no problem staying again.

This is the boutique hotel in the downtown where all the action is at. At first I was impressed with the updates and some classic vibes in a place where a lot of things have gone down over the years.
Parking lot is super tight and good to have a gate on it with all the. Winston's just downstairs if you want to hit it up but walking distance to everywhere downtown. There's a sweet balcony for the hotel guests where you can get a good bird's eye view of the all characters out at night and watch the show. The front desk staff was great and they probably see a lot of the things going on.
Only areas for improvement are the soaps and shampoos and there were a few hours when there was a funky smell going on. Wouldn't recommend it for families but hey it's not the worst.

Wonderful four night stay at the Senator Hotel in Saskatoon. Comfortable historic vibes in a great location at a great price. Great security as you ring to enter the hotel. Walkable to the Midtown Plaza and many shops in the area. Very friendly and efficient cleaning staff. Front desk staff was less friendly, a bit cool and struggled to be helpful (e. G. Getting an iron or a wake up call). Nice continental breakfast! Overall a great stay.

Really good. Hotel itself and the rooms are a bit dated but that just adds to the charm. But the most important thing — the room was very clean!
Location is fantastic and it was much more affordable than other hotels in the area. Winston's Pub is attached to the hotel (same ownership I believe) and it's a great option for food and drinks.
Parking lot out back is quite small, so if you want a space, you'll want to park there as early as you can. But it's a locked parking lot that the staff will open for you, so it felt very secure to leave the vehicle there.
Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel has a nice old charm feeling. The service was top notch. We enjoyed the restaurant and the pub. The location is right downtown Saskatoon. The rooms were clean but need a bit of update. Our room was a bit stuck in the 80s. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom nice and clean. We are coming back in the summer and looking forward to our stay.

Interesting old hotel. Rooms are small but clean, service was good, price was good. The place has alot of character. Good food and drink nearby. Would definitely come back.

Booked a stay here earlier this month with two friends. One of us checked in on January 16, and it was clearly communicated to the front desk that the other two guests would arrive late due to a flight delay (between 3-6am on the 17th)
When we arrived at 5:00am it was — 30°C outside, and the man working the front desk refused to let us inside, even after we called the hotel, provided the guest’s name and room number, and offered to show ID through the glass door. He was extremely rude, refused to give his name, and left us waiting outside in freezing conditions. He eventually called our friend at 5:30am and demanded that he come downstairs to let us in himself.
What makes this more frustrating is that he claimed there was no documentation of us, yet my name was listed on the invoice at checkout. While I understand late-night security concerns, leaving confirmed guests outside in extreme cold was unsafe and completely inappropriate, on top of being extremely rude.
All other staff were lovely which grants the 2 stars, but this encounter alone makes me never want to recommend this hotel.

I booked a stay at Hotel Senator earlier this month with two friends. One of our friends arrived first and checked in on January 16, while the other two of us arrived in the very early morning of January 17 after our flight was delayed.
Our friend who checked in first clearly communicated to the front desk that the other two guests would be arriving late due to the delay. He was told this was noted, and he provided a time range indicating we would arrive after 3:00am likely before 6:00am.
When we arrived at approximately 5:00am (well within the time frame provided) the man working the front desk refused to open the door for us, even after we called the hotel directly. It was — 30°C outside, and we simply asked to be let into the lobby so the situation could be sorted out. I was more than willing to provide my ID through the glass door and was able to clearly give the name and room number of the guest we were staying with. Despite this, the staff member was extremely rude, would not let us inside, and effectively locked us out in dangerously cold weather. He also refused to provide his name when asked.
At 5:30am, he called our friend’s room and demanded that he come downstairs and open the door for us himself. Had our friend not woken up, I honestly don’t know what would have happened, we were left outside in freezing conditions with no safe alternative.

I had an incredible stay at the Hotel Senator in Saskatoon. The building itself is full of charm and historic character, but what truly made the experience memorable was the exceptional staff.
A special shout-out to Chad, who went above and beyond. He was amazing—warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the hotel. He took the time to explain the history of the building, which added so much depth to my stay and made me appreciate the place even more.
Mehul and Dennis were also fantastic. Both were extremely hospitable and offered great suggestions on things to do around Saskatoon. Their recommendations helped me make the most of my visit.
Overall, the service, atmosphere, and attention to detail made my stay outstanding. I highly recommend Hotel Senator to anyone visiting Saskatoon—you’ll be treated like family.

I always stay here on business trips. Rooms are lovely and clean. Staff are awesome. Location as central as you can get. The only negative is the amount of homeless people that hang around the main entrance outside, as they don't always make me feel safe as a woman traveler. It would be great if the hotel could move them along, then this Hotel would be a gem.

Great team here! Super friendly and accommodative staff, went above and beyond to help me as I needed the room pretty quickly after a surgery. Handy location, very pretty little hotel! Will definitely go back there if and when I need to get back to stoon :)

Elegant building, clean room, comfortable bed, breakfast included, decent price, kind desk agent, great location downtown. Famous pub attached at ground level. No complaints.

Stayed here the weekend of Sept 20/21 for one night, in a standard room.
Room was comfy and clean. I'm aware a number of people have complained that the rooms are dated. That they are, but it makes sense since it's an older building with period furniture throughout.
There was a small coffee station in the room, which I didn't need to use, and the bathroom had several towels ready for use.
While my room was facing out to a main street and I could hear people talking late at night, I slept well and was not disturbed. I did not hear sounds from neighbouring rooms either to the side or above/below.
Feedback I gave to the hotel on checking out was that the vents from the air conditioning were pointing directly to the bed, making for a cold experience when the AC turned on. My suggestion was that they could be aimed higher so they didn't go straight to the bed. The feedback was pleasantly received, but time will tell if it was acted upon.
The included breakfast was — as I see some others have stated — a little wanting, being only a selection of pastries and whole fruits, as well as coffee, tea and juices. I wasn't at all hungry so I was fine, but if someone did want something a little more substantial, they won't find it here.

We stayed at this hotel for one night last summer. The location was great, close to the heart of the city and convenient for exploring. The building has a historic charm, being over 100 years old, but the rooms showed their age and hadn’t been fully renovated. The elevator was very old, and parking at the back was tight and congested.
Overall, the place had a bit of a spooky vibe. It was noisy when we checked in, as it happened to be a bar night, and there were drunk people gathered near the main entrance.
Breakfast was disappointing. They only offered coffee and muffins, despite advertising as if there will be a wide range of breakfast options.
It was an interesting stay for the location and history, but not quite what we expected in comfort or amenities.

Better than sleeping at the airport, that’s about the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. Dirty, smelly, old, worn carpet, old worn furniture, uncomfortable bed and awful bathroom. The front desk person was pleasant enough, promised to leave note for night shift, but forgot. Not much of a continental breakfast, but was something and fairly typical for that type of breakfast.

We had a wonderful stay. This is such a charming, quiet hotel in an historic building only a couple of blocks from the river walk. Both the restaurant and the pub had excellent food and service. The highlight was manager Dinesh who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Outstanding customer service from this man! We will definitely stay here whenever we are in Saskatoon.

No hot water in sink, plugged. Clerk quite snarky, homeless, ladies of the ight surrounding doors. Elevator unservicable.
What can I say, Not comfortable!
