It is located in the middle no where. Rooms are decently sized for 4 people. Pillows are comfortable. No room service or anything fancy. It's a diy sort of place. There's no appliances for heating or making food but there are coffee machines, refrigerator, hair dryer, heating and air-conditioning. Bathrooms are sorta dirty and come with soap and cups.

Charming, clean room with a fireplace. Manager is very nice.

Very nice and clean room with a rustic feel. Fireplace is lovely and it was very quiet. Manager was professional and friendly. Price was a bit steep for the location but would stay again if I needed a hotel in that area.

This motel’s glory days are passed, rooms are outdated, as is furniture… but it was very clean and personnel is very nice… for the price I give it 4 stars!

A great place to stay in the heart of Wakefield village. An older but well-constructed building constructed by European craftsmen in the Tyrolean style. Lovely porches on the second floor, set well back from the road and away from traffic. Near the river, general store, Turntable Park and Vorlage ski hill, all at reasonable cost.

Location is excellent, as Wakefield is a tiny town. The rooms are nice as newer owners have done much needed renovations in recent years. Rates are a tad high for my liking. The closing of the office and restaurant are big negatives. You won't always catch someone around to checkin or handle any inquiries, and the restaurant used to offer the best breakfast in town! Nothing fancy or complicated. All in all, a fine place to stay.

I can't stand when my meal enjoyment is ruined by FM radio. And this place is just not what it used to be. I heard the French toast there were to die for, but with the change of management, seems I will never get the chance to enjoy them. I also heard that this restaurant was on its way out.

Nice place to vacation. Short drive from a lake. Really quiet and nice for a getaway.

Room appeared to be recently (though incompletely) renovated. As the only guests over Christmas they did well to accommodate us and ensured the lot was plowed and the steps are cleared.

Good but not great. Room was cold and kind of ghetto for the price. Went there for a wedding, if I went back to Wakefield I'd stay somewhere different.

The Alp Cantina for those dirty, comfort food faves. Otherwise it's pretty much a big open gravel parking lot…

Went in to the restaurant, food was delicious but portions were so small we had to go and have a second lunch at other place. Pricey for the portions size.

Great atmosphere on the terrace. We were lucky enough that the farmers market next door was open and the live music made it even better! Really tasty food with lots of variety.

Came here for highly recommended German food, rouladen in particular. Turns out all the German food is no longer on the menu, with the exception of chicken schnitzel which I ordered. My plate and the schnitzel was sopping with grease, it was offensively disgusting. The food is better in jail. The server was great. The food was horrendous.

The hotel was okay, a little pricey for what it offers. The restaurant was the worst dining experience I've ever had. I have worked in many restaurants and the service and food itself here was inexcusably bad. My partner and I entered the restaurant to meet with two others who had been waiting for us to join them. The greeter was very nice in greeting us. We found our family and sat down to wait. I could hear the waitress in the kitchen talking and laughing with the cook. After conversation died at our table and we were still waiting in silence, finally the greeter came to us to take our order. She could clearly see that we were getting impatient. She was very good. She took our order and left to the kitchen. A few minutes later the server finally got around to taking our order, at which point we informed her it had already been taken. She sounded disappointed and left. This was the precursor to the rest of our experience being completely unprofessional and painful. My partner overheard the greeter being chewed out by the waitress, and then we didn't see the greeter again. This was too bad as it seemed like the greeter was the only one with experience in a restaurant. My partner and I had ordered drinks before the food. The drinks took a very long time in coming to us. Normally we would have had our drinks and our food would have been well on the way by the time our drinks arrived.

Had breakfast here. Good food at very reasonable prices. All of the employees were nice and welcoming.

Rooms are cute and fairly clean. Bathroom in our room was old but my friends in other rooms had newly renovated bathrooms. Not much housekeeping done to rooms during our stay.

This is a small, casual, modest country motel run by people who really care. The food is delicious and servings are huge! The Cafe has many repeat customers. Each motel room is different, and the furnishings are well-loved and eclectic. A few rooms have been renovated but most have not. This is not a luxury hotel! so if you expect thick fluffy towels, expensive toiletries and a minibar you may be happier paying two or three times the rate at the larger, elegant Wakefield Mill. The Alpengruss is for motel guests who value authentic hospitality and value for money rather than stylish, luxurious accommodations. Our new favourite get-away spot!

Food was ok but service super slow.

Super yummy breakfast! The Lumberjack = 3 eggs + 3 meats (ham, bacon, sausages) homefries with home made brown bread, toasted with raspberry jam! Down it all with a coffee to boot! A great start to any day! The rooms are clean and cozy, and as well the beds are comfortable.

The restaurant has good food (both breakfast and dinner) and is well priced. The motel room was clean and also well priced. Great service, very friendly. Great location; close to Ottawa and all the ski hills. It`s like having a nice winter vacation without having to travel far and spend a lot of money.

Breakfast was great, however service was poor while we were there. There were only 2 waitresses running the Inside and patio and they could not keep up.

Been going for years, good place to go for breakfast.

Great breakfast (quality and value) — but very popular. We stayed in one of the rooms as well and it was clean and quiet.
