Lovely hotel with a great focus on customer service!

Appalling check-in and check-out. Receptionist (same woman on both occasions) was incredibly aloof/snooty to the point of rudeness and somehow more than vaguely idiotic. Said the price comparison I provided had no date, when there was a date; asked for ID with my address on after I'd provided her with ID with an address on; and kept waiting for my selection of immediate room versus day usage when I'd already asked for immediate usage, especially given the circumstances which were made known to her after the concierge asked. I think there may have been some more points of friction, but I can't be bothered with Gault beyond this. Absolutely my worst hotel experience ever, including more than 500 hotel bookings in the last 3 years. Shockingly poor. If you can't be hospitable, don't work in hospitality. If you can't even bring yourself to say 'goodbye' when guests leave, whether you mean it or not, jog on.

Here is a "boutique hotel" high level the rooms are spacious, quiet. The reception team just perfect, the concierge really helpful and efficient! In short the best hotel in Montreal we have done. We'll be back.

Great hotel great atmosphere great food ok room as it’s outdated cable half working but I will strongly recommend not to forget anything in your room, because it will vanish. I forgot a great pair of sunglasses Miu Miu valued at 600$ and I forgot them on the bed side table, I called they never called me back I had to call again then the manager told me they were not there and staff was honest, I must have left them somewhere else… Well I’m sorry but if your staff was fully honest I would have got my sun glasses back. I remember leaving them there … So, nice place, but it’s just a bummer that you forget something valueable and it will vanish…

My wife and I visited Montreal for my birthday and stayed at Hotel Gault while we were there. The location (and price) in Old Montreal is what attracted us initially. The room was beautiful. The bathroom was amazing. The customer service was outstanding. The attentiveness from all of the staff was a model in customer service. Highly recommend staying here.

I loved my experience in this wonderful hotel. The service is outstanding, the rooms are splendid and the breakfast was more than delicious. A recommendation sana fault and I would return without hesitation. This chic hotel is a perfect choice.

Great location. Super close to public transport and old for. The bar is modern and the location is discreet allowing for more private discussions.

The hotel is located in the old port of Montreal which is a wonderful area especially this time of year and the staff are always friendly, courteous and professional.

HORRIBLE TREATMENT: Hotel was lovely until the staff damaged my car while parking. At the time they graciously promised to take care of all expenses. Their insurance broker eventually told me they changed their minds and I am now out of pocket $500 for my deductible. The manager will not return my phone call. Deplorable customer service from a hotel that supposedly prides itself on good service. Such service apparently only lasts until there is a problem. Fellow travelers beware.

Beautiful boutique hotel, unfortunately, down the street from a club who`s patrons exit at 3 in the morning shouting outrageously and relieving themselves where they may. Not too relaxing and woke up feeling less than rested. Mentioned this to the concierge in the morning who offered us complimentary coffee.

They had dinner and drinks with a friend last night at the hotel Gault. Very nice atmosphere, attentive wait staff who are also very friendly. I ordered the Gault Pizza which was absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back.

A great place. Near the old Montreal District. We had a very nice suite, with a huge room and top flight bathroom. A very high end hotel with great service and highly recommended. The only possible drawback (not a drawback for me) is that if you prefer in house high end dining like a large hotel you should probably stay at the Hilton. For a great room in a great neighborhood with lots of great bars and restaurants nearby this is the place.

I simply can't recommend this hotel enough — the room and bathroom size, the amenities, location and the view of Old Montreal from our room — everything was beautiful. Best of all was the hospitality of the staff, who assisted us when our flight to Montreal was cancelled, and our baggage was delayed. We only stayed 3 nights but it immediately felt like home!

I've stayed here a few times now when in Montreal for business and it's always great. Nice sized rooms, friendly staff, well decorated and very clean. The bar is a bit unnecessarily expensive, but hey, it is a hotel bar.

We went to the Gault hotel several times for events and we greatly appreciate the refined and modern setting of this place.

Fantastic boutique hotel. The service was amazing and attentive. The rooms were spotless and modern. The heated floors in the washroom area was a bonus. Excellent location, a lot of nice spots close by to get a bite and located downtown in the old part of the city has very nice looking architecture.

Was a great place to stay. Super nice and clean rooms and very nice staff.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Old Montreal but close enough to walk to within 10 minutes. The service was outstanding. Their food delicious. The shower made me feel all new and shiny again after a very longgg flight.
My husband liked the quiet of our room 110. The atmosphere in the lobby was comfy and the bar is next to where you check in. Cheers like where everybody knows your name. Comfortable feeling like your coming home.
The staff were more than accommodating: printing off train schedules, the list of DVDs they have, and hot water for my tea from their kitchen. I believe they had complimentary water. We will stay again. And again. And again. Merci!

Great room, modern, ckean, large. Exceptional service and attention to detail.

It is a beautiful and historic building. We've stayed in 4 different types of suites here and they were all beautiful and well maintained. And even though the capacity was at or near maximum, It was quiet and the atmosphere was serene at the hotel. They had room service, but also offered select prepared cooked items in the serving area of the lobby until 3am, as well as bar service. The staff was classy, and very helpful and friendly!

Fantastic experience! Could not have asked for a better hotel for my solo relaxing weekend in Montreal. The staff was warm, kind and accommodating despite my lack of French, my age (23 yrs old), and the fact I was traveling alone. I requested a room with the beautiful French windows and asked to check out 1 hour later so I could make it to mass at Notre Dame Basilica. Each request and others were happily received and met. Every staff member I encountered greeted me warmly and made small talk, which I appreciated. Not to mention the hotel was simply stunning — looked just as gorgeous as the website pictures! Food was delicious and breakfast was available until 2pm on the weekends — perfect! I can't wait to return with friends.

Clean room, great service, and convenient location. The front desk was helpful with answering questions, offering suggestions, and setting up reservations for restaurants and other activities. The seating in the room was okay, not very comfortable, but there's a comfortable lounge with couches and a fire downstairs.

Loved it. Well located, lovely rooms and breakfast to die for. Try to spring for terrace rooms on top floor. Staff go out of their way to help. Glad to have picked this place — a real winner!

Room was modern, well furnished but the decor was not to my taste. Staff was competent and friendly. They charged $35 for the parking which is expensive.

The room was spacious, clean and really well furnished. In room coffee was great. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful and polite. Overall, we had a great time at hotel Gault. I recommend that you stay at this hotel when visiting Montreal. It's really well located!

Such a nice little hotel, with spacious rooms and ultra friendly staff. Stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it. The bathrooms though, the bathrooms are fantastic: heated tile floors, beautiful large tub, beautiful but supremely functional sink and accessory cabinet that I could go on about. Location is a short walk to the palais de Congress, Notre Dame, the old port. Many stylish cafes and restaurants nearby. Our favorite was Modavie. Fantastic breakfast at the magasin general and nice friendly coffee at the flyjin cafe. Back to the bathrooms. Don't you hate when hotel bathrooms have no space for your stuff, don't you hate nice looking sinks that splash water all over you? If so then you'll love these bathrooms. I didn't spend that much time in the bathroom but… Could have…

A lovely place. Excellent service, completely refurbished rooms and designed with very good functionality. It is small and boutique. Has a great lobby to hang out during the day and work. Very comfortable furniture both in the rooms and in the lobby.

Was so excited for the visit to celebrate anniversary but had to cancel nearly 10 hours before due to an emergency. The hotel couldn't care less and made it seem as if they are doing me a favor for canceling the second night without a fee. Poor customer service. Would expect way more from a place that prides itself on customer service.

One of my favorite boutique hotels in the city. This is where I recommend my hip friends stay when they visit. Very tasteful decor and lounge area. The staff are simultaneously attentive and laid back.

Beautiful rooms, excellent service.

The perfect hotel, especially if you are IT challenged. We showed up at the Gault for the F1 weekend, short my laptop and ipad rechargers plus lacking the tech knowledge to know how to upgrade the ipad to download the F1 Live website. The staff at Hotel Gault could not have been more helpful. Explaining our dilemna to the front desk at check in, they had sourced a late night retailer and Danny, the ever helpful bellman, had the appropriate recharger waiting for me when we returned from dinner. Cost — what he paid at the store. Not surcharge. The next at F1, we realized that we had also forgotten the ipad recharger, and our ipad required a software upgrade to download the F1 Live site. Back at the hotel, we asked again, and a staff member loaned us a recharger, and Amir Bakir took charge of upgrading my ipad, downloading the necessary apps, babysat the ipad over the next hour and a half, and then handed back to me ready for race day. AMAZING! We have stayed at Hotel Gault numerous times and their service has always been wonderful, their location perfect, and their rooms unique. I would rate all my stays as excellent, but on this but on this trip they even blew themselves. Not sure what is better than excellent, but they are IT. It was my first time visiting Montreal two weeks ago and I was quite nervous. These people treated me like I was the only person staying in the hotel. Even when I forgot that the held charges for my reservation on my card had not cleared, and had to call my company to make a deposit, they treated me like a queen. The concierge John came down and opened the door for me every time I arrived at the hotel when he was on duty, and walked with me to the elevator and chatted with me. The room was great and incredibly spacious — I got upgraded at the desk to a bigger room. The food from room service was limited but incredible. Real food, nothing processed. No view but sunshine poured into the windows — which open! — every morning during my stay. The rooms do need more lighting on cloudy days. You get the sense that they rely on natural light, but when it's a nice day you see it's for good reason. The location was also great, it's in the old part of Montreal just a short walk from the special sights there. I am too shy to speak the french I know and never had a problem.

This is one comfortable, friendly, and welcoming hotel. I felt so well taken care of here, and as I mentioned on YELP, best few night's sleep of my life (lovely beds). My room was spacious and well appointed, and I enjoyed hanging out in the lobby which allows for privacy in a group setting. Just the perfect mix of everything you could want in a boutique hotel.

Small, modern, intimate and maybe a little sparse (or is that just ultra-modern? ). It was between Place d' Armes, which we love, and this hotel which was recommended by a friend, for a last minute trip to Montreal. I don't usually care about room size but this one was gigantic for a regular King room. Gorgeous built in wooden furniture, classical music and a martini glass of addicting nuts make for a stunning impact when entering. The bathroom was equally spacious and sleek with a soaking tub I will have to make time for next visit. Fantastic service although we did not ask much of them. You cannot go wrong here.
