Super 8 by Wyndham Thunder Bay Inn

The room was great, it was a quiet and relaxing weekend. Adam at the front desk was AMAZING. He answered all my questions and went out of his way to make suggestions on great places to eat or things to do.

Great place to stay. I enjoyed the selection of food they had for breakfast. Friendly and professional staff. Nice clean rooms.

The hotel and rooms really need to be updated. The room is very spacious and the bed comfortable. The breakfast is good for the price.

As a long-time supporter of Super 8 I was disappointed with this branch There's a billboard on the highway that lies about the price. The staff is unfriendly no View my wife have medical marijuana to get moving in the morning and they would not allow her to smoke on the property we went off the property and they asked us to move farther away. Really brought down the mood of our vacation ruined our day we were 5 days into a 10-day vacation and this particular day was ruined by the service of the motel manager and the way he approached us. We were out back having a smoke when one of the maids came out gave us a dirty look when we noticed she had a bag in her hands and she put it in the back of a pickup truck and then she kept looking at us making us feel uncomfortable we took it to the management they said they didn't care they basically brushed us off we went back to our room peacefully we came back down to get ice to find them laughing at us in the lobby when we confronted them about laughing at us he basically made it a giant joke and said have a good day right in front of other guests he doesn't care his name was Bryant.

Plain & simple motel, rates way more than advertised on the highway. If you're looking fpr a bed to sleep in than its good but if you're looking for extra amenities, or a quiet air conditioner… look else where.

Room was spacious and clean. Wi-Fi signal was strong, and the speed was fast even during peak time.

I like how close the hotel is to everything, the staff was friendly and rooms were a nice size and clean. I also liked that the rooms had two doors, one leading to outside and one to hallway inside. Breakfast was good, would have liked to see some fruit other than just apples, otherwise very good.

Friendly desk staff, comfy room. The smoking area was right outside our door, which was kind of gross. The air conditioner blew the drapes forward, making the air blow right at my face woke I was in bed, so I fashioned a solution with a clothes hanger to hold it down. Good breakfast, although the breakfast area is pretty small. It was very comfortable, though, and better than the more expensive option we took previously in thunder bay.

Everything we needed for a night's sleep was there quick and easy. Wifi, comfy bed, AC, clean and practical. Could park right infront of our room.

Super 8 was clean and quiet — carpet was stained a bit. The bathroom fan was very noisy, and I couldn't turn the light on without the fan going on high. The worst thing was I got bitten by bed bugs along the back of my neck. Please fumigate!

It was decent. However, air conditioner was too loud. Also, locks were sometimes stuck.

Clean rooms and spacious rooms. Staff very friendly. The continental breakfast included was very good.

We stayed at Super 8 for the first time in Canada at this location on our road trip to Vancouver from Toronto. We needed an ecoomical place yet expected it to be clean. Super 8 meets the standards if you are not very obsessive about everything so it is OK.

No matter which Floor, you stay on, the back is usually quieter than the front is. Which is too close to the road people coming in at midnight slamming doors. Vehicles delivering next door. Got 4 hours of sleep out of 8 never staying there again and to top it off a big step to come in, NOT WHEELCHAIR accessible!

Clean, quiet, very reasonable rates, and very nice staff. Highly recommended.

This hotel is probably one of the greasy'est places ive slept in! The bed was nasty with hair in the dirty sheets and the room had a smell that really hits ya! I would avoid it at all cost.

We stayed here passing through Canada and got a good deal from using expedia at 90 bucks a night. The beds were nice and soft, room was clean and tidy. My biggest complaint was the fact that we were traveling with a small u haul and required 2 parking spaces. So we parked at the very end of the empty parking lot and got told to park on the other side of the robins doughnuts building in a dark swanky looking lot with no street light. Just shady as can be. Wasn't impressed considering there was lots of available spaces in their lot and we were late getting there and early leaving.

Not for wheelchair / disabled person!, I stopped there hoping to spend few nights, was happy to see they had automatic doors at the front entrance… until I saw there was 1 stair to go inside from that front entrance.

Good location, nice staff. Really good breakfast, more than I was expecting. Avoid the japanese restaurant across the street.

We are completely upset this hotels practice is almost crooked. We checked in gave visa and paid cash we were told that a hold would be put on but realeased up check out,, The room charge was 90 and we checked out at 4 am to continue our travels upon checkout we were very clear about the hold being released which upon our return home a charge of not 90 but 150 has been put on our card up on two calls and 9 days later we are still waiting for it to be removed. We were travelling and spent 6 nights in hotels none of the other hotels were shady. We called our visa and again the hotel this morning and the hotel is suppose to be getting it taking care of as soon as the managercomes in as the front desk clerk cant do it. So why then did the front desk clerk upon checkout tell us it was removed. Completely shady my advice to anyone going to this hotel do not trust them with any credit cards ever. Day 9 and we still have a 150 charge on our card and payed cash upon checkin so why the card hold when the room was already paid.

Unfortunately, I had a disappointing stay the heat of the room was unbearable, upon arrival the set temp of the room was at 80 and even after adjusting it did not get any better. Upon check out the gentleman in front of me was also complaining about the heat, but staff showed lack of empathy and no offer to correct issue were just looking to blame.

You will be happy with this hotel as long as you don't expect four or five star. Rooms are a good size, newer carpet, the whole hotel is clean, obviously had a facelift within the past few years. All staff I have interacted with were friendly and helpful. Location is good, near dining, 15 minute walk to downtown, 10 minutes to mall. Would be pleased to stay here again.

Above average room for the price. Very clean. Decent standard breakfast. You can tell they've been updating things. Don't let the older outside fool you. This place is a good value.

Decent place to stay. Rooms are pretty clean, newly renovated and comfortable. Breakfast is good, boiled eggs, waffles, cereal etc. Location is good too.

Efficient and clean. Beds and bedding was really comfortable. Had to move rooms initially because bathroom wasn't clean but moved us quickly. Breakfast was good.

Night place. To stay clean very close to hospital which was very convenient the staff was awesome very helpful got me the. Best rate (on a budget) medical trip. Close. To everything would and will stay again also have room to allow. To walk out to my truck great!

This would have gotten a 5, but! The front desk staff was disorganized and clearly pissed off some people wanting a room (waiting in line, answering phones leaving them hanging, no rooms to provide). Wasn't my beef, but just kind of gave me a bad impression when I arrived. I stayed here 5 years ago and the upgrades have made a huge difference in the feeling of this place. The Wi-Fi has improved, and general comfortability is good. I ended up hauling my suitcases upstairs. The front desk help did not indicate there was an elevator. If there is, I have no idea it exists, and if there isn't, ouch. I would stay here again. The quirky front desk staff isn't enough to turn me off of this place. Not bad for a cross Canada pit stop.

You have to start cleaning the tubs properly, and I will stop using your towels to stand on when I take a shower. Ajax will clean those non slip grips to invisible. This is my only issue with this Super 8.

Staff was friendly and location was fairly convenient, being close to shoppers drug Mart and having restaurants within walking distance (15 min or so). Breakfast was fairly basic, with cereal, bagel, and toast. Assortment of coffee was available along with yogurt and some fruit. Standard fare overall.

The property cancelled my reservation as they said credit card was declined. They did not contact me to let me know and there were no rooms available when we arrived. My credit card was fine when I used it at the Prince Arthur, a much better hotel, as it turned out Super Eight did me a favour.

I enjoyed my 4 day stay at the Super 8. The staff were kind and helpful. I wished they had a microwave in the room. I was in room 226… the toilet ran every 5 minutes on its own related to an internal leak of some kind; this was an annoyance. Also the top corner of the bathroom door would stick making it hard to open. Great breakfast waffle maker.

The room was clean and has been recently updated. The free breakfast is pretty standard with cereal, waffles, bagels, apples, and hard-boiled eggs. Stayed just for one night but overall it was a great experience.

Cheap rates, spacious rooms that are slightly updated. Not overly clean, very stuffy. Overall a decent place to rest your head at the end of a busy day touring the city and seeing the sights.

My visit was excellent. The reception was superb and the staff's concern about our well being and gave us information what was useful. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I would come here again. And having OLG there was an added bonus. Love this hotel.

Recent remodel as the others say which is awesome to see but midway through… but it smells like paint and glue and drywall still. Strongly. Hallways dirty. Should really have been aired out. Where the air conditioner has been put in it is not sealed! gaps to straight outside and it's 6 degrees overnight. I stuffed towels around it! top it off… heaters do not work but fortunately we like it kinda cool. toilet not thoroughly cleaned hotel — standard … like the construction guys used it and they weren't checked or something. I think we are lucky there is no noise at all… quiet clan this particular night and we have the house cleaning closet on one side and a room in mid reno on the other. I'm sure it's not always that way. honestly though … for some reason the WHOLE city was booked by 6pm on a wednesday. When we pulled in from a 12 hour drive couldn't believe it. If we didn't get this room there were no others so 94$ total was worth it. Young guy at the desk was so busy but he was incredible and very nice and professional. the outside of the building is really run down so to walk into a room that at least looks like they have been trying was a relief. proximity to BPs great since playoffs are on. haven't had the breakfast quite yet… if it's not good will get back on here.

Always stay here going through Thunder Bay. They recently remodelled some rooms, they look pretty good!

Walls to the outside were incredible thin to the point someone could have dropped a quarter and I'd have heard it. The beds were uncomfy but the staff were nice and rooms clean.

Couldn't sleep! I guess they were doing renovation or some construction work. Very loud bangs, bath tub was very dirty, will never come back again!

We went in to reserve 2 rooms for the night. Man at desk quoted prices with taxes and told us to come back after 4 pm because rooms weren't ready. He didn't want credit card but told us rooms were reserved. Then when we came back at 5pm he quoted higher prices. When we called him out on this, he said the rates just went up. We didn't take the rooms and are obviously never going back to a super 8.

It was a Motel plain and simple the only problem was the cost really it should have been $70 dollars a night not $110. The best part of the hotel was the breakfast, fairly standard with yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, cheap coffee and decent tea selection with stryofoam cups of course (hint: wax paper cups in your room slightly better), however you are provided with a foolproof waffle maker which was the star of the hotel's features. The staff were pleasant and friendly, the rooms were cheaply furnished and a little run down but clean enough. All in all the only problem was the cost really it just sets expectations a little too high.

This hotel is very rude would not rent us a room because we didn't have a credit card and was nasty to us.

Our family stayed there for a night. The room was so bad and poor. Its not at all like we had expected or how its shown in the pictures. This motel sucks, bad and dirty beds, very poor mattresses, smelly and internet sucked. I would advise everyone never to waste a $100 on this room.

Our room smelled bad it was $120 a night to stay and the continental breakfast sucks.
