Chimo Motel

Trip advisor says they will take dogs but when we asked for a room with a dog they refused us.

As I drove across Canada with my family, this Motel gave us the best sleep. Better than pricier hotels!

Very clean, quiet, and great price if you're driving through, and need a place to stop and sleep…
Nothing fancy but clean…
Centrally located to many places, restaurants, bear habitat…
Friendly staff as well…

Clean and safe in my experience, though dated. The lady with the short hair at the desk was exceptionally helpful and friendly, thank you!
I should let you know the best way to book is to call, online bookings have a delay in communication with the owners, so I'm told.

Extremely rude employees. Very very unprofessional behavior.
I wanted to double check the email address over the phone for an etransfer because I want the money to go to the correct email address. The employee said and I quote “I cannot wait 15 minutes on the phone for an e-transfer confirmation”. I was on the phone for 2/3 mins only.
Very very poor. Will never stay again.

Had a great stay at the Chimo Motel. Room was clean, bed was comfy. Only complaint was that the TV didn’t work. The woman at the front desk is a gem!

First off the older lady at the front desk was EXTREMELY helpful, VERY welcoming and ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS! She went above and beyond to make sure we had a good stay and went above and beyond keeping us laughing at nearly every interaction. We joked so much with her and she kept the jokes going with other family attending the wedding in town that would check in after us and we all had sore stomachs from laughing so much.
My room had a weird smell coming from the bathroom and I killed a lone cockroach I saw run under the microwave but aside from that the rooms were more than adequate for the price.
Our only issue was our communication with the owner. Between the bad signal we had during a few of the calls and the owners very thick Indian accent it could be difficult to understand him at times but we always ended up getting the message across or recieving it in the end. There was an issue when we checked in with the computer system that took about half an hour and when you've spent the last 9.5 hours in a car traveling you don't want to have to wait for anything upon check in. He ended up giving us a 10% discount because of the wait.
Alot of the channels on the advertised 'Satellite TV' we unavailable and no real list of available channels so the TV was next to useless and the Wi-Fi was VERY VERY slow and cut out frequently so those staying for business and need to do work out of the room please take note.

Desk clerk was very pleasant. Gave us the seniors discount which was great! Room was nice. Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed for a good sleep.

If there was a way to give half a star, this would be it. Location is great, nice and quiet but that's as good as it gets. We stayed in the apartments, upon entering the door it had a old, musty smell to the place. Very outdated furniture, the bathroom was small and mold or mildew in the corners of the tub. Bed was hard and lumpy which made for a terrible night of sleep. We aren't planning on traveling that way again for quite some time, but I can assure you, we will not be staying there.

Rooms are cozy, the sink is outside the actual bathroom and if you shut the door it's a little crowded between the toilet and the shower, but beyond that the room was spacious. Very clean and comfy bed. It has a good sized mini-fridge and a microwave, and a large screen Tv. Over all for the price I paid, it was the lap of luxury.
I left the "service'' section at a 3 only because I showed up/checked in very late at night, and left rather early in the morning so had minimal interaction with the staff, what interactions I did have were great though!

All I need is a warm room, clean bed, and hot water. This place does all that at a decent price. I like the kitchenette rooms, gives you space to chill and I'd rather cook for myself then order out all the time. They have a heated garage that usually works to keep your sled clean and proper on those snowy — 30 nights if you'd like. Located right on the snowmobile trail. Usually ample parking.
