On Feb 8th, we went to the Super 8 in Truro due to flooding. Upon checking in to room 109, I went to put our cellphones ans keys in the bedside table between the beds. When I opened the drawer, it was full of busted weed, used filters and other stuff. I took Keaghan and myself down to the lobby to request a new room, as I didn't want Keaghan getting into that. We got put into room 318. The toilet was broken, we had to put our hand in the tank to pull the chain to make the toilet flush, the shower head was barely attached to the wall, the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, there was BLOOD and hair on one of the Queen Beds. Keaghan had fallen asleep and I went downstairs to the desk to let them know what was going as I was not about to have the credit card charged for damages we didn't make. While I was at the Front Desk, an intoxicated male came up to me (who was not a guest) and pulled out a bottle of vodka from his jacket telling me to drink withb him. I politely said no and tried to get back to my room. He stayed close to me trying to sell me poems he had written, asking me for money and for cigarettes. He told me how he had killed people. The front desk agent did absolutely nothing to help me in this situation. During check out (We got out of there at 6 am ) I told the man working at the desk everything that had transpired and he told me he only had authorization to remove 25.00 off of what we paid. He said the manager would be in at 9 am and to call then.

Pool and slide are awesome.

Very nice place for a fun weekend away.

The room was dirty especially the bathroom. Around the sink had black dirt and hair in the crack from not being cleaned properly. I found a used bar of soap in the shower in the morning. Dirt on the Kleenex holder as well! When I put in a complaint I did not hear anything from this hotel instead the complaint was sent to Amherst where I had a lovely conversation with that manager! She forwarded my complaint to the proper place and still no calls after a week! Will not be back and definitely donor recommend this hotel!

Overcharged, kicked out of pool, room smelled like cigarettes.

This place has always been great to deal with. I have stayed here at least 15 times. But today October 3 at 220 pm I was refused service because I was 40 mins early. I explained I didn’t need to check in till 3 but still wanted a family room. Lady was extremely rude unhelpful and not what you would expect from a front desk in a hotel! I.

Stayed with our hockey team, the stay was all around great. Nice and friendly staff. Made our team a congrats poster and even baked them cookies, water slide and pool was great. The guy at the front desk (dan I think) was awesome, outgoing and great to chat with!

Narrow parking spots, hard to get in car. It is best to use two parking spots at a time. The AC system was so loud, it was like trying to sleep with an intermittently run jack hammer. The breakfast was disappointing. The Wi-Fi was good.

The room had 2 queen sized beds, the mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. Nice shower and washroom very clean. The indoor pool was so much fun for the kids, they enjoyed it countless number of times, and the adults were able to supervise from the comfort of a little hot tub. Pool hours are 7am-10pm so we were able to swim in the evening when we arrived and in the morning after breakfast. The continental breakfast included pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, fruit and more. Decent price for the value. Would visit again.

Great location near Truro, the rooms are very nice. The staff at front desk very friendly and the breakfast bar has great variety. It was clean some hot items. The food is a great start to the day. And Alexandria the attendant was very happy and cheerful. Nice to see after waking up in a bad mood.

Will at the front desk was great. The room was clean but there was a funny smell. Would have loved to use the pool and hot tub but there were too many people so I wasn't able to go. For the breakfast part, I feel that it could be way better. Maybe some fruit and hot items.

A new very clean Super 8. The best breakfast options of any Super 8 I’ve stayed at many. This is beside the native interpretive center and also close to a couple of decent food takeouts. I’d stay here when you need a short overnight in your travels through Nova Scotia as it is very central and right on the highway.

Clean spacious room. Great breakfast. Very nice staff. Pool was lots of fun.

We had a wonderful experience, it was by far the best pool I've seen at a hotel with a really fun slide and hot tub.

Good prices and friendly staff. You need to drive quite a distance to get to a restaurant.

A good place with a swimming pool but it was cold.

Bugs in the room heater covers falling off sinks won’t drain The beds were comfortable.

It is a very good place to bring small children. The waterslide is very cool but the pool is not meant for swimming, very shallow for adults. The breakfast was what you would expect for a complementary meal. No bacon, sausage etc. The walls are paper thin but there was no rowdiness.

Great spot, was very understanding with 3 hockey teams running rampant. Great staff!

Very overpriced rooms. Walls are paper thin. Kids running in the hall's till after 11pm. 3phone calls to front desk all going unanswered. Drove from Alberta to NS this was the highest price for a room by far and the lower end room by far. Definitely wouldn't recommend it nor would I stay there again.

The pool was great fun for the kids.

Very bad experience here, the rooms were nice but the walls are paper thin! Makes you feel very unsafe, like someone is about to enter your room. Will not stay here again. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra ten dollars for a better hotel, the investment in your quality of sleep will be worth it!

Front desk clerks were very nice. Room was nice, clean and welcoming. The free breakfast was good, but nothing special. Overall, was good value for the price. I would definitely stay there again.

Fine if all you need is a bed and bathroom. Nice that there's a couch but the room itself is kind of small. A section of my floor was wet though. Also a plus that there's a swimming pool.

Coming from an hospitality background, I tend to critic customer service all the time… in this case, we where well taking off right from the beginning. On the day off arrival, I called in to let them know we would be travelling late evening and we would only arrive around 9pm… the receptionist was very courteous and friendly and we arrived (tired from a long day) Jani at the reception had our Check-In all ready and literally took no more than a minute (awesome) as we just wanted to get to our room. The junior suites at the Super 8 in Truro feel like a little condo with a living room with a sofa bed, a work desk, a couple of tv', washroom that seperates the bedroom and living room. Oh, and super comfy pillows. Anyway, just thought they deserved to know we were a happy family and we appreciated the service, the cleanliness and the great location while traveling through. 3 years ago we were very disapointed in this hotel, we heard there had been improvements so decided to take a chance. Its 100% better and se will return! The pool, slide and hot tub are a big hit with the whole family!

Had a pleasant stay at the Super 8 in Truro. The room was spacious and the hotel employees were courteous. The pool is a huge plus. Would definitely stay again!

Room was average. Breakfast area is way too small for a hotel this size. Pool is great if you want to do the waterslide, no good if you want to do anything else.

The rooms were clean, the pool was a comfortable temperature with the hot tub being very warm. The mattress was nice and soft with a bit of resistance, and the provided satellite TV had a nice variety of channels. The service was pleasant and helpful, and the view was surprisingly picturesque given the location!

Stayed at this Super 8 July 3, 2016. Hotel itself… ok. Rooms — fine; beds — fine; pool — fine. Booked this Super 8 for two reasons: 1) pool, and 2) free breakfast. Had stayed in 15 other hotels/motels prior to July 3 (travelled PEI, NS, NB, ME, VT, NY, NH), so I had some "expectations. " Free breakfast amounted to: coffee, bagels, bread, super small cinnamon rolls, cheerios, and fruit loops! No fruit, no yogurt, no bacon, no eggs… nothing else! We had to stop for breakfast at a restaurant down the road. Moral of the story… """"don't book in hopes of a decent breakfast""""" not gonna happen! Most pathetic of all the 15 places I stayed in June/July. Next time I pass through Truro, I will definitely look for an alternate place to stay. Disappointed!

Rooms were clean and comfortable, room smelled a bit of smoke but not overwhelmingly so.

The front desk hostess was very accomodating; the beds were very comfortable; the rooms were clean; my children practically lived on the water slide and in the pool. The only thing that would have been a negative from our visit is that they had hockey teams in over the weekend and so they ran out of several items from the breakfast; and the floors are WAY TOO thin. Around 5 in the morning I could almost hear everything that the guest above me was doing (walking across the floor "thump thump thump"; showering; using the toilet…) It still was a great stay, for a reasonable price, and we would totally stay again.

Stayed overnight with a friend went down for breakfast the next morning breakfast bar was filthy, cake or muffin all over tables and chairs. Looked like it had been there for days! They need to hire cleaners that know what a dustpan and broom are and how to use them!

The pool was very fun for children.

Rooms are very big and comfortable. Convenient location next to the highway. Only minus point would be the tiny breakfast room.

Room was nice and clean. Pillows were a little bit too fluffy with little support but big comfy bad made up for it. Pool with water slide always great and the highlight of this year's trip was new automatic pancake maker then had.

Ever see than Seinfeld episode where the rental car company can take a reservation, but can't hold it. That's how our stay at the Super 8 in Truro started. We're pretty laid back so that was fine. What wasn't fine was the room. There was a very strong "deodorizer" smell in the room. The chairs had some sort of fluid stains on them — which we hoped were water stains from the pool. The carpets were worn and rippled in places. The furniture was all banged up. When we asked about maybe switching to another room we were told there was none. It's almost 6pm and there are 3 cars in the parking lot. I can only assume that by the time it's time for bed the parking lot will be full. Overall I'd not recommend this hotel to anyone. For an extra $10 you can stay at the Holiday Inn by the Airport just 20 minutes down the road or for an extra $30 at the Hilton which is far superior in every way — mainly smell.
