They stole $200 from me. Watch out for these hosts. We stayed in the loft above the garage for the months of June & July. We were originally going to stay until October but once arriving we decided to cut it short and wish we cut it even shorter. We both work remotely and worked during our stay. I had a few positives but after our check out experience I decided to take them out. The way they treated us at check out and literally stole from us was unacceptable. Cathy and Bruce were not very inviting or friendly. As soon as we arrived after driving for 4 days (from Ontario) they gave us a tour of the property and the list of rules before we even got our dogs out of the car on a hot day. Cathy told us when we arrived she wanted a $1000 DAMAGE deposit and that she would put it as a hold on my credit card which I was fine with. When I noticed it went through as a charge instead I notified her and said I was only comfortable with a hold like we had discussed and she told me "we will settle when you leave" leaving us in a awkward financial situation. Cathy is an accountant part time so she knows the difference between a hold and a charge and we were very uncomfortable with this. When we went to leave she refused to meet us the morning we were moving out to do the inspection and give us the deposit back, instead making us take time out of work to do the check so as she said "could make sure it was cleaned properly", even though it was a damage deposit.
