Couldn’t stay at the hotel as it was booked but went up for a walk around the lodge. Nice views although a little smokey today. Had lunch in the dining room. Asked for a drink not on the menu and they made it perfectly. Cheese appetizer was a nice surprise with great variety. Ordered a salad with salmon and food was good. Would love to try the British tea service held in the afternoons. Will definitely be back.

This rating is based on food in their dining area, not on hotel stay. We went in for a late afternoon lunch, service was awesome and the view was better! As we dined we felt like we had time to linger and visit, we weren't at all rushed through by service, but food quality was less than expected for price we paid. We loved the live piano music on main lobby area as well. The beauty and ambience of the Prince of Wales Hotel was incredible but I wouldn't go for the lunch time food.

My friends and I stopped in for drinks. The hotel staff were both very friendly and professional. The atmosphere was unique and the view of the Waterton lakes was impressive. Stop by and visit to enjoy a piece of history. :)

Absolutely beautiful and stunning! Amazed that it survived the forest fire in 2017. Parking lot is a bit small but manageable with patience. Roof needs some work but didn't detract from the ambience and views.

Comfortable, quaint room, lovely, friendly staff, dramatic setting. It was wonderful. Would have been perfect if the weather had cooperated.

It's like visiting the highlands! Transported to a different time! You will fall in love with the old character of the handcrafted architecture and be surprised by the hospitality of everyone there! Ladies… did I mention the men wear kilts! One of the highlights is every night at 8pm… the men in kilts tell stories of the hotel, including ghost stories the kids will love. You might even get a pic of one of the ghosts, Sarah is her name, by the old couch on the fourth floor.

We stopped here while returning home from our wedding in Banff. We didn't stay overnight but we were treated with so much kindness as guests of the Prince of Wales Hotel. My wife bought a small tea set in the gift shop. We hope to return soon.

Didn't actually stay at the hotel, just popped in for some drinks. A beautiful old-timey building. Word class Waterton view, absolutely stunning. Menu a little pricey but not too crazy for a tourist town. Staff were helpful and friendly and dressed rather snazzy I must say. Luck would have it a staff member gave an informative kinda speech/ presentation about the history of the hotel and the area, some ghost stories. Things like that. It was interesting for sure. That plus beautiful view and building, and a nice cold beer makes this a must visit when you're in Waterton in my books. Was a nice reprieve from camping. There's no dress code but I almost felt underdressed. Definitely a classy place haha.

The location is absolutely worth the drive. I came from Washington state. The hotel was actually closed. Went up to view the park. Wild life everywhere. And a beautiful waterfall in town.

The hotel was closed for the winter, but the view was BEAUTIFUL. Definitely worth the trip.

Good place to relax and spend time with tue family. Awesome view of the lake. Really will make a great memory.

This is a classic hotel built by the canadian pacific railroad in the 1920's… the panoramic views of waterton lake national park. And below goat flaunt mountain and the snow capped mount cleveland (10, 46 ft) rising from glacier national park. Both parks are part of the international peace park. Glacier park is part of the canadian rockies a major attraction for the nature lovers from around the world. Great mountain is a mountain peak rising east of the location only about 3 miles south of the canadian border. The hotel is so elegant with mountain and lake front views. The royal stewart dining room is stunning… the windsor lounge provides a more relaxed setting. A gift shop on location, waterfront boat cruises available from the watertown marina. One of the best hotel stays ever… a unforgettable wonder…

The rooms are small but the view makes everything worth it. So beautiful!

Beautifully built, maintained, and decorated. Nothing compares to the tea parties and food. Gift shop is an A+. Breathtaking views.

Enjoyed my time at this historic hotel. Beautiful mountain views. My bathroom had a modern look which I appreciated. Close to downtown, short driving distance.

Went to afternoon tea. Great views from the lobby though you could get the same for free by walking around the building! The high tea was nice but could be made better. For one, the choice of teas seemed limited and there was a long time between the tea arriving to the food showing up. Seemed understaffed for the busy summer period! Claimed clotted cream was just wipped cream! The service was great considering the above. All in all could definitely be better value!

The service at the restaurant was absolutely terrible. It took 20 minutes for someone to come over and even acknowledge us once we were seated, and the restaurant was not even full. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time, and after we ordered no one came to our table for 30 minutes. They brought our food, but we still had not received our drinks. To make matters worse, we had just gotten engaged that day, and we were looking forward to a nice meal to celebrate. We were compleely disappointed. There are many other good restaurants to Waterton that actually provide good service. If you are in ever in town, please check out one of the local restaurants rather than eating at the Prince of Wales.

We decided to stop in and have drinks after driving around all day to check out the hotel. We waited for a table to be cleaned for us to sit by the window with a beautiful view. Our server was very punctual to come over and asked if we needed menus and what wev would like to have. We ordered four gin martinis, straight up and it took about 15 minutes for us to receive the drinks. After we got the drinks, one of the guests at the table asked for a water and she never received the water. We had the Bellman come by, about 8 p. M. To talk to all the tables and announced that he was going to give a speech about the history of the hotel. He had some very fun facts and go stories to share.

We just had dinner in the main dining room. Food was good and the staff were quite friendly. Servers are all in kilts. Beautiful view from the dining room looking out over the lake. The hotel is old and in need of renovation. Definitely a period piece. We were told they are slowly working on it, a bit at a time. Would definitely eat there again.

The service was good, the dining room had a magnificent view and we enjoyed our dinner and dessert. It was a very enjoyable dinner.

My wife and I had afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales. It was a pleasant experience, the staff were professional and courteous, the tea was good and the view unsurpassed.

Didn't stay here, but we had dinner in the dining room which was very good. The. Flavoring was very well done on the appetizers and main dishes that we had. The mixed drinks were also quiet good. The pace was leisurely so don't expect a quick in and out. The views of the lake are extraordinary.

This hotel stands atop the hill leading into the quaint lakefront town of Waterton, AB, Canada. A beautiful hotel from the outside with real old world charm. The inside is even more beautiful with it's 1920's charm and old world furnishings/finishes. We only stayed one night and the price was a little on the high side but we walked up the same day to book the suite and was expecting a steeper than normal pre-booked stay. The service was incredible and the front desk staff was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas when we picked there brain. The bar in the downstairs with a patio overlooking the lake was just what we needed after a long day riding motorcycles through canada. The barkeep was delightful and very helpful and even let us order some late night eats although the kitchen was trying to close (Thank you). The room was very spacious and had the essentials for sleep and recovery from any vacation exploits. There is no TV's or distractions and the lack of electronic distractions was a welcomed attribute in a place surrounded by extreme beauty and nature. The bathroom was my favorite, with the claw foot tub and huge walk in shower, the white tile floor and pedestal sink really lives up to the hotels name, fit for a prince! Waking up to the view I displayed in my picture was well worth the money spent. Enjoying coffee (made with the in room brewer) on our private balcony overlooking Waterton lake was truly once in a lifetime and definitely a ROYAL treatment!

I wish I could say that our overall experience dealing with the hotel was exceptional, but first I would need to qualify my responses. The stay at the hotel was exceptional. It was a well appreciated gift to acknowledge our son's accomplishments while attending university. Initially, the plan was to reserve two rooms for a family holiday. When our son made the reservation through Glacier Park Inc. He was told that a confirmation would follow by email. When the confirmation failed to arrive, he called every day. Finally, the email did come in, but it was within the 48 hour period during which the reservation could not be altered — how convenient, not so much for us. When we reviewed the information, we realized that the second room had a double and a twin bed, whereas we had asked for a queen bed with a twin. When we called to make a correction, we were told that it was too late. Had we not insisted repeatedly for the confirmation, we would only have found out upon our arrival. As an alternative, I propose extending the stay for the first room (queen bed) and cancelling the room with a double bed. I was told I could add a second night — at my cost — but could not cancel the other room without penalty. When our son arrived at the hotel, the reception clerk confirmed the two-night stay for the queen and the one night for the double. Doesn't this all seem one-sided? Beware, stay away from dealing with Glacier Park Inn. The hotel reception attendant was very sympathetic.

My wife and traveled from Nashville, TN to stay for several days and then onto Calgary. You only see views like this in magazines. We will be back for years to come…

Stayed in 2003 I loved it, classic old hotel, very impressed with the classic beauty.

It was closed for the season but the views are worth seeing.

The exterior of the building and its location are beautiful and thats about it. The rooms were ok but very old and dated, for the amount paid for the room you would expect more. The front desk staff was very rude and pushy about making reservations at there restaurant. I am glad we didn't. My wife and I tried to have a drink/food at the bar and waited 20 minutes at a table without even being acknowledged. We ended up going to dinner in town. In conclusion don't stay here, stop by and take a picture and go stay in town.

My wife I and had dinner in the lounge on Aug. 5, 2015 and found the food less than satisfactory. The service was average. We also found it extremely unusual to find the hotel didn't except debit cards,

Beautiful location and scenery, hotel is old, poorly maintained and expensive for what you get. Food in the restaurant wasn't great either. You can get a better room in the town and walk over to enjoy the view at the front of the hotel.

We payed 270$ thinking that that could get us a basic room here. Well I have stayed at better motels than this as our room had no tv, no Wi-Fi and looks as if it was furnished by a blind man. Actually thats an offence to a blind man. In association there was no hairdryer and the room was the size of a prison cell. We read the reviews and thought it would be better but it wasn't DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID.

Stayed here in Aug 2014, well kept historic building with lots of character that is beautiful to look at and a dreary place to spend the night or two. Absolutely beautiful — even stunning — location atop a large hill overlooking the lakes and village of Waterton. Wind is constant and strong coming down the valleys and across the lake. Place is expensive, who else but older folks can afford it. Popular with tour groups. Really can't beat the location. Lots of good places in Waterton (the village) so spend the majority of your nights there but do visit here — view from bar and lounge is great.

Ive stayed at the hotel a few times over a 20 yr period. The southern view from the lobby is spectacular. A walk around the grounds reveals wonderful views in all directions. That's the plus side of the hotel. The hotel is open from early June to early Sept and is generally full of tour-bus people. Rooms are very expensive and very dated. The staff is basically college age, many with no hotel experience. This inexperience is particularly evident in the dining room where the service is generally slow. Guests tend not to brag about the food. I would always prefer eating meals at restaurants in the Waterton townsite. Hotel maintenance doesnt seem to be of the highest priority. The hotel is an experience. One you will not forget.
