I was looking for a decent hotel like this for quite a while. Tired of those chain hotels where they feed you unknown biomass for breakfast. Here it is real. I like the place. Location is great, the views are amazing! Breakfast is nice. One thing that I don't get — why they keep the air conditioning at such low temp — feels like 17 degrees C! I have to wear a jacket or a sweater when in the common areas. Why is that? Too damn cold.

Not as nice as the pictures make it seem. The carpet had large gaps near the walls in the corner, and rather than fix the tub properly when it started to wreck around the drain they painted it with porcelain paint. The floor in the bathroom had grunge buildup and short hairs on the floor that definitely didn't belong to a bunch of long haired girls.

Terrible experience. Moment we walked in it looked unsafe. A lot of sketchy people in this neighbourhood. Once we got our room (standard guest room), the room had a dirty smell to it. It just didn't feel clean. The bathroom had soap scum on the bathroom walls. This place is nasty. I'm surprised this hotel has positive reviews, seems like they purchased them. Be careful with this one.

The Chateau Lacombe is a 1960s era hotel with a unique circular architectural design. Although the hotel has been updated, it still has a 1960s upscale vibe to it. The cheaper rooms are quite small and oddly, as they are situated like spokes from a wheel from the center of the tower. It feels like a 2 or 2.5 star hotel. Service was fine and everything was clean. No swimming pool, unfortunately.

It was a good stay. There was like a little blood on my sheet but it was fine. We ordered pillows and blankets but it took 3 calls to get them over a time of 2hrs. Cool circular building.

I was at this hotel on business for the second time, and this morning needed to get a little cold caffeine. I asked if I could leave my bags to go get a Diet Coke at a store and the bell person insisted, embarrassingly, on going to get me one at their expense from a machine in the building. Now, ideally their machines would be up to date and take cards but I thought that level of service, and sincerely done, was outstanding. The room was spacious and well-appointed, and LaRonde was fantastic as I recalled, with really excellent food. The hotel could use some updating in the rooms as it’s quite dark, but the service interactions were all exceptional, hence 5 stars.

The service was great, and requests were handled promptly. The rooms are quite stuffy, well the one we were originally checked into. They did move us to a different room, different floor and it was much better. The rooms are rundown tho, an update would be great. I wouldn’t return.

Id say 2 stars. Rooms look out dated. Ive stayed in cheaper hotels that come with complimentary water bottles. This on doesn’t even do that. The sink in our suite looks like a child caulked it. The Bathtub in chipped and falling apart. Definitely worth staying somewhere else. I also think its stupid you get to pay for parking under the hotel on top of staying in the hotel.

10 years ago, we spent our wedding night at the Chateau Lacombe. The room was nice, and we didn't have much interaction with the staff. But I do remember them upgrading our room once they saw us in our wedding attire. The room was nice and comfortable. We dined in the dinning room for breakfast and it was delicious.

The staff at this hotel are awesome. Very helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice, at least the ones I've stayed in on the concierge floor. The main floor restaurants however aren't that great. The buffet is overpriced for what u get. LA Ronde on the top floor is a nice restaurant with views and food that is a lot more upscale. The underground parking is tight and needs updating. However the early bird weekday price is pretty decent for an all day parking lot of you're not staying in the hotel. I would definitely come back to this hotels again, but wouldn't eat at the lounge or the other main restaurant. Plenty of other better places in the area.

Stay away if you can! Basic rooms don't event have a desk. You need to upgrade for that. 75 percent of the hotel is in serious need of renovations. And renovations completed in upgraded rooms are not overly impressive — more a basic paint job. It's too bad. This was a neat place, but seems to be in need of some love (and investment). It has change hands quite a few times over the last few years and been involved in at least one bankruptcy.

Fantastic experience! I booked my wife and her girlfriend a night away from the kids. Ike, with Chateau Lacombe, helped me through every step of the process seamlessly. There were multiple personal touches to help make it a special experience for my wife. The Concierge Level room was beautiful and the view was fantastic! Highly recommend!

Still enjoy coming to this hotel, have been staying here off and on for the last 35 years. Was here for a conference, the finger food provided for the wine and cheese was quite tasty and lots of variety. The hotel is showing its age and is in need of some major renovations, not just the lobby area, but guests room as well.

Best food and service in town at a reasonable price. Everyone was very personable and extremely friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back again.

Clean rooms, great amenities, big screen TV with many channels in each room, extremely comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff. There is also a full restaurant attached to the hotel with good food. Close to all major Downtown institutions.

I was recommended this hotel by a friend who is a music promoter (and one of their biggest clients), and it was extremely disappointing. At breakfast, all of the servers ignored me. Then, halfway through, I was informed that my breakfast was not included in my room price. I had no idea, and if I'd known, I would have gone somewhere else because the food was not that great and they tried to charge me $21 for a plate of hash browns and fruit. I went to the front desk to talk to them about it. The guy offered to take half my breakfast bill off. When I told him the whole stay was unimpressive, he responded by reneging on his offer to reduce my bill in half and telling me I had to talk to his boss. There are many hotels of comparable price nearby, and I'll be staying at one of them next time. I wanted to support a local hotel over a chain, but the chains seem to have much higher standards and better training for customer service. If customer experience is important to you, go elsewhere. The hotel itself is also really old and noisy, which would have been forgivable had they not been so rude. I could hear the people above me use the restroom. I bumped my review up a whole star because their soap and shampoo is amazing.

Nice, quiet place to stay. Room was clean but the washroom could definitely use some bleach and a new tub. Had to go go 2 different floors to get ice. Staff were wonderful and accommodating to the best of their means.

This hotel has been standing for over 50 years. It is located just 1 block. South of Jasper Avenue, which means it is convenient. As an independent hotel (not part of a chain), the service is warm and inviting. While not. Free for guests (too bad on this point) the parking is convenient and well lit. There has been ongoing maintenance, and my room was clean and fresh (No off odors). Consider this hotel for business or family travel!

Travelled in from out of the Province for Winefest 2018. Was first booked into another new hotel, let's just say that the experience was underwhelming. My cousin (who lives locally) decided that we should go to Chateau Lacombe, and we jumped right on it. Within 15 minutes we were greeted nicely by the front desk staff and provided a room. The lounge was awesome; the bartender and server (sorry I cant remember their names) were so helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were great and the atmosphere was chill. The room cost was reasonable and the room itself was fine. Yes, it is an older hotel, but the experience and friendliness of the staff far outshine that fact. Thinking of coming back for the jazz festival and if I do, I will be staying at Lacombe.

Wonderful location downtown. Close to rovers center. Beautiful comfortable room. Nice view. Very fancy inexpensive hotel. Service was absolutley wonderful.

The hotel is one of the most beautiful hotel I have recently slept in. Lea room its very large and use its very good roads to the services.

Booked out of convenience as we were going to la ronde. However, the room was very dated. We couldn’t seem to get the heat down, it was very hot in fact. The beds were nice and cozy, but the sheets were not good quality. I woke up in a sweat both mornings. The view was beautiful, and the room was clean but I wouldn’t stay here again.

We've stayed at Chateau Lacombe in Edmonton several times and none have been enjoyable in the least. We used to love this hotel because it was so close to the Shaw Conference center and for events we could easily walk. We went to the Get Together music festival and often we come home earlier then the bigger crowds to fall into bed Unfortunately, every night without fail we wake up multiple times from 2am-6am from constant yelling and noise! When you check-in you sign a noise waiver of some sort agreeing to be quiet or you will be removed from the hotel but it doesn't seem like they enforce this at all. And knowing there is this kind of disruptive crowd should call for 24/h security at the least :/ I called the front desk multiple times with no answer, I assumed there were other noise complaints. Nothing. And now checkout. So when I explained this night to the hotel manager, I automatically was told I'm lying. That I'm making up a story, that I didn't call the front desk at all and I should have come down in the middle of the night to resolve the issue. Then proceeds to put me into a "raver" label and tell me I should expect it when I'm attending a music festival with my fellow ravers? At this point I'm so frustrated I just want some recognition that this was totally unreasonable. I didn't think paying $200 for the night to not sleep was fair. The manager did not care and again said to expect it with that crowd. So disappointed. We won't be staying here again.

We came in without a reservation and even though they were booked solid they managed to find a spot for us. Service was awesome as well as the food. It's a nice place to dress up a bit and go to whether it's a date or a family outing. I will definitely be back and I would recommend to anyone.

Came on business for 4 days, which got extended, 2 weeks. The staff are absolutely amazing. From the Porters to hotel and restaurant's staff. They were very accommodating of my travel changes, and my two dogs. Would highly reccomend. Also the food is delicious! Can't wait to come back.

Don't label as 4 star if you do not have the ability to offer that service. The hot water does not work. Had choose to down grade to one of two options. First being concerige room to a regular room. Another was to switch to a single bed next door. We paid 45$ extra for a better room, only to be downgraded. The best they could offer was to upgrade a cold plate to a warm breakfast.

Nice place. Great prices and sercicein the lounge and restaurant. The buildings getting a face lift as some aspects are a not tired. Warm and inviting would be the best description. Rates are quite reasonable as well.

Good shower but parking is not free.

Booked in advance with no cancellation rate. Had to switch one night around due to bad weather, hotel was more than accomodating and only charged me the slight difference in price. Greeted by very friendly concierge who explained every detail about the hotel. Front desk granted us early check in. Clean hotel, beautiful lobby. Rooms were very nice, clean, spacious. Excellent curved view of downtown. Great vicinity to Rogers place, and many amenities. Only negitive were the pillows, rock hard. Will stay again without hesitation.

Every minute of my stay here has been a terrible experience. The front desk are very rude. It was my first time in Canada and I have been to any hotel (anywhere else in the world) where I was asked to look for my room myself during check-in. The restaurants closed at 9PM and when I asked them where I could get dinner as I arrived late in the night, I was told to figure myself. The staff lack courtesy and are extremely discriminatory. Unless you look North American, even the folks at breakfast treat you like a third class citizen. I flipped out when I saw the invoice for my stay in the hotel was slid down the door — this is possibly the worst way once can be treated in a hotel that calls itself a premium downtown hotel. If my firm had not paid for the 3 week duration of my stay here, I would have probably gone elsewhere. All the staff in this hotel treat non-white guests as if they are doing them a service. It is just totally absurd to be treated like this when you pay $100+ for a night. I will never come back here again even if offered a free night's stay.

The hotel is a very good option, close to train station and bus stations. They have good restaurant and bar that offers Buffet breakfast. I wish there were more options in the menu for lunch time. Personnel working here is friendly.

A really beautiful hotel and reasonable prices. Since we arrived in the evening, we weren't able to explore the city. However, the staff were very friendly and let us get some great photos and views from their revolving restaurant.

Nice place. Being updated. Great views! Parking elevators need to be updated. Less Lysol use in the main lobby too.

The location is nice, the rooms were clean and of decent size, and the staff were very friendly. But… There was no fridge in the room. The TV didn't work, but we didn't call down to get it fixed as we were too busy to watch any. And the room was slightly dated, but again it was clean! We were in a lower floor on the street side so the traffic was quite noisy. I would stay here again, but would only stay here on a higher floor and on the valley side.

The service from all the staff was excellent. Always someone at the font desk for any needed help. There was a little confusion with our booking, but they sorted it out. The rooms were very clean and quite nice. The lobby and banquet rooms are very classy looking. The complimentary parking in the parkade is very convenient, and the location of the hotel is convenient for Roger's Place, or any other part of downtown. Valet parking and town car service is also available. The breakfast buffet and related service provided for our event was absolutely stellar; better than I've had anywhere else. The views are great, and the revolving restaurant on top sounds very cool, although probably out of my price range. Also, the elevators are fast!

This place is a little swankier than what we usually book into. Valet service and assistance with luggage was offered, but if you're more self-reliant, doing it yourself is fine. Rooms were a little dated and bathroom is a little small. Great views and access to downtown. Staff were very courteous. All things considered, the value we got from this hotel was okay.

I've removed and I'm adding a new review for this hotel. You're not quite there, but WELL DONE! On what? I'm seeing the staff are more people and service focused. A sense that things are returning to the levels of exceptional that I once experienced here. I hope that by the end of the year, I can give a 4 or 5 star review! So what are you going to expect staying at this hotel? Yes, the hotel is a bit older, but at about the same age as many in town. It is however, somewhat of a landmark. There is a good buffet breakfast (at cost) staffed by some of the best service staff in the hotel! Generally things work with a few hiccups; I guess, it's 'character'. So who cares if things don't work perfectly, how is the service? They've had some issues in the past. I think that there was an ownership and other changes. It might be a bit of a hit or miss in some ways but I would generally say that most of the time, your stays will be good. The staff are really trying to connect and I think that is great. Keep it up!

Moldy tea bag in the coffee pot, clearly not cleaned well. Bathroom was filthy, shower curtain extremely cheap. Called down twice, once for a corkscrew that never came (ended up going down to the restaurant and getting a bartender to come with us), and the other to clean a stinky, moldy tea pot, which took an hour. The morning of checkout I awoke to the staff simply sliding a receipt under the door to my room. Other than the price and location of the hotel, there isn't much I have to say that is positive. "4 star hotel"…

Great location downtown. Rooms are a little dated and TVs do not allow for you to change input to HDMI for your own media. Very close to great eating options. Would recommend.

Staff wasn't that friendly, said that we were an inconvenience. Due to a miscommunication we ended up paying parking twice, $25.35, we were only reimbursed $4.20 and staff made us feel uncomfortable when discussing. View is nice, rooms nice, a little dirty. I won't return.

I highly recommend this place. I stayed and ate most of my meals here for 2 nights. For the price, it's my favorite place to stay in downtown Edmonton.

I like the lobby. And the view. The staff were nice. No microwave! Extra cost for one! Room was dirty. Room smelt old. Not updated or renovated. Lamp was burnt out. 15.75$ parking per night. Will not stay here again. Very small rooms. However the 23rd floor looks nice.

Fantastic location (20 minute taxi drive from airport with $55 flat fare and within walking distance from town centre), spacious rooms and clean bathrooms. Beautiful interior decor, great find!

So far I have had a really unpleasant experience. When I checked in the staff was extremely rude to me and brushed my questions. When I called down to inquire about having some room service as I have been traveling all day; I was not greeted on the phone politely by the desk staff. They told me that it has been suspended tonight cause of an emergency. As in, the manager quit and people where not scheduled properly. Not my issue … However, as I am a frequent traveler I always provided my update. Customer Service I give a minus 5 and room condition/cleanliness I give a 10.

Pros: -kind staff -clean, comfy beds pillows -the view -updated bathroom -quick and helpful maintenance-was upstairs in minutes and problem was fixed! this guy bumped it up to 2 stars. cons: -no fridge -no microwave -$15 per night parking -low quality TV that cuts in and out -slow, unreliable Wi-Fi -$16+ breakfast -no laundry machines think youre getting a nice hotel for a good price? think again. If you were to walk into any motel or hotel off the highway — much cheaper than this — you would get a bed, a fridge, a microwave, laundry machines, free (low quality) breakfast, parking, and maybe even a pool. Not here. The beds are lovely and clean, the staff is nice, however our room had no fridge or microwave. We called and were told its a $20 upgrade just to bring us a minifridge in an already $100 room! and dont think youll be getting laundry done unless you want to drop a pretty penny for them to send it away. This is not even including the $15 per night parking fee! excuse me! how do you think I got here? the TV and Wi-Fi both cut in and out. With no pool, large (or even high quality) TV, and expensive breakfast, what exactly am I paying for? I would only recommend this place to those I dont like very much. Never again will I stay at the chateau lacombe.

I don't write many reviews because I'm a restaurateur and know that half of the reviews you read online are fake or paid for accounts (to which I completely object and will not take part in), or they're just the (hopefully) anomaly TERRIBLE experiences that compel people to punish a business with a slanderous review. That being said, I was compelled to write this review based on one of THE MOST positive customer service experiences I've ever had! My wife and I got married here this weekend, and this 5 star review starts over a year ago; when we started planning our wedding. We had booked with a venue that does tons of weddings, but the rapid turnover in staff, and ensuing circus of trying to get a hold of anybody who knew anything about our booking to start planning, left us scrambling to cancel our booking. We called around the Fairmont, Westin, Marriott, and all were booked. Then we stumbled upon the Chateau Lacombe and absolutely fell in love with the Alberta Ballroom! Susan, Senior Catering Manager, went above and beyond the call of duty in accommodating our every request, regardless of how last minute, how often we changed our minds, or how far out in left field. She had a way of easing our anxiety every time we met with her, and our trust in her never waivered from our first meeting. Susan was very involved in the planning process, had a vivid vision of what we wanted, and offered some great insights and tips throughout!

Stayed here during a corporate work function. The staff was unpleasant to us and never smiled once. The manager on duty went out of her way to be unhelpful and seemed to be trying to discourage us from returning. Given the price and the many quality alternatives in the area there is no reason to stay here. On the other hand the room itself was quite nice, though some of my coworkers complained about the quality of their accommodations. Under new management this place might have some potential.

I had excellent service at all times of day. Both when I checked in, and when I was up at 6 AM and the staff were just as friendly and helpful. The food at Bellamy's was quite good (I tried the butter chicken), and the wait staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was also nice, with great selection at the buffet. The best meal, however, was at La Ronde, the rotating restaurant on top of the hotel. The waiter was very funny, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had the Alberta striploin steak. I asked for blue rare and it was perhaps slightly more cooked than I wanted, but it was delicious and the sauce was incredible. The view of the city was also fantastic. The room was very nice, had a huge bed, and was very clean. The only real complaint I have is that the internet was a bit sluggish. Overall I enjoyed my stay a lot, and would recommend it for anyone visiting Edmonton for business.

After staying here for a business conference I have to say that I have never received worse service at a hotel. The front desk staff were terse and impolite, with the manager on duty being the worst of all. They acted like it was an inconvenience for them whenever I had a question or even tried to check in. All of the restaurants and lounges were closed in the morning leaving room service as the only option for dining — when we dialed the number for room service, we were redirected to the front desk, where we were told room service would call us back to get our order. Twenty minutes later I had not received a call and called back to inquire; it was another ten minutes before room service finally called my room. Although my order included two "served with whipped cream" hot chocolates, I received only a single carafe of instant hot chocolate and no whipped cream — though I was billed for two and they would not remove the second from the bill. To make matters worse check out time is a looming deadline for morning breakfast after a late night conference and this added a great deal of stress to the already frustrating wait for our food. My room was on the "concierge floor", which requires you to swipe your keycard in the elevator to access, but the system barely works — myself and several of my colleagues ended up riding the elevator to other destinations more than once as we tried to convince the elevator to take us to our destination.

Doesn't hold reservations. When I arrived they told me my room had been given away even though I had a non refundable reservation, so they put me in a handicap room with a smaller bed then I paid for. The room wasn't cleaned very well as I found dust on tables and questionable stains on the edge of the desk. Still had an OK stay and morning staff were a lot nicer than evening staff so I didn't complain. I would still stay here again but will arrive earlier than a kiss concert to ensure my room is not given away.

My experience at the hotel itself was very pleasant, but trying to resolve a rather significant billing issue after the fact has been a nightmare. The hotel itself is in a great location with easy access to buses, the staff was accommodating when we requested to be checked in early (they even gave us a river view free when we only paid for the cheaper city view) and when we had to have a package dropped off at the front desk while we were enjoying the fringe they did so without any issues. However, when we left Edmonton the bill I received was exactly as I calculated it, but when I saw my credit card balance a few days later I found out that they had charged me for my stay TWICE. I called explaining the issue, and after they asked if I was sure I hadn't purchased a second room or if I had eaten at their restaurant enough times to bring my bill up to twice the amount it should have been, they finally looked deeper into their system to see that I was charged more than I should have been. Their solution to reverse the charge didn't work, and after I explained that the charge was still there, they simply used the same method again without any success. So yeah, in summary, great place, but beware of billing headaches.
