Hotel Olathang

A room surrounded by pine trees made our stay most enjoyable. The staff were very courteous and friendly. The food was amazing.

Beautiful park setting in large bungalow cabins set in a pine forest. The main hotel has rooms as well but the Bungalows are the best accomodations.

Service staff are friendly, but you can tell they are quite understaffed (maybe we were there during off-peak seasons in Dec)
The rooms are not very well maintained, one of the lights was not functioning, we informed reception twice on first night and was informed someone will come and have a look, but no one came throughout our two nights stay there. We didn't make a fuss since we were only there for 2 nights. Room and toilet facilities are dated, tho functional.
Also note that the rooms are in a cottage, thus it can be a cold and long walk to and fro the reception for older people (eg my 60 yr old mum) during winter times.
They also charge extra when we requested for 2 extra mineral water bottle (seemingly not the norm in 3-star hotels in Bhutan)
The views of Paro are only visible from a few cottages by the hill, so if you're looking for Paro views from your room probably good to book another hotel!
Good thing is beds are heated though, and it has a nice forested ground with a long history (hotel was built for the coronation of the fourth king).

A beautiful location overlooking the amazing Paro valley, this hotel makes its mark before you've even checked in with a warm, friendly welcome on the doorstep that just sums up Bhutan. A great place from which you can explore the town of Paro, the Paro Dzong and the brilliantly curated National Museum. The food was great too with a superb breakfast buffet and a host of traditional dishes to try. The only downside was that it was my last two night's in this spectacular Himalayan kingdom… I would have happily stayed here for many more nights. Maybe next time!

The resort boasts expansive grounds set within verdant landscapes, offering a variety of accommodations. Despite celebrating its 50th anniversary, the property is meticulously maintained, and the staff provides exceptional service. While located outside the town center, affordable shuttle services are readily available. This resort presents a worthwhile experience, although vegetarian dining options may be somewhat limited.

First hotel in bhutan, with proper bhutanese architecture, beautiful cottages, well maintained resort, Staff is amazing very helpful. Also Food was great, everything was served was tasty. View is amazing overlooking the paro city. Highly Recommended resort to stay.

It’s a lovely hotel with very large area and the rooms are well maintained. One can move around in the property and enjoy the nature. Staffs are very helpful and food is excellent. Rooms are well maintained and Paro airport is nearby.

Excellent Hotel in Paro. Very clean and good bathroom. It had an oil heater plus electric blankets. The staff very friendly and helpful. The dining area was large and it had a good variety of food for both the breakfast and evening meal. The cottages overlook the town.

Hotel Olathang is said to be the oldest hotel in Bhutan, and the property truly reflects its heritage. It’s a huge, well-maintained space with a charming, old-world feel. We had a 2 night stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious, though some of the fittings felt a bit outdated.
The food was average, and the buffet spread was quite limited. However, the restaurant staff were excellent—very courteous and attentive, which made our dining experience pleasant.
Unfortunately, the reception service was disappointing. We were unexpectedly asked to check out at 9 AM, even though the official check-out time was 12 PM. When we questioned this, they falsely blamed our tour guide, claiming she had informed them of an early check-out, which was not the case. This left a sour impression at the end of an otherwise decent stay.
Overall, it's a good place for those who want to experience a historic hotel with beautiful surroundings, but service at the front desk definitely needs improvement.

This hotel is outside Paro and up a hill which overlooks the town. There is a central block with bar and restaurant and the main accommodation is in chalets in the grounds. The food was standard Bhutan tourist food but, on the last day, they changed the menu which was refreshing. The rooms were quite large with quite cold and small bathrooms. Everything worked. Just adequate power outlets. Nice to have a safe an side table. The crazy paving paths leading from reception to the rooms are poorly lit at night and unsuited for cases with castors.

A beautiful, historic hotel just outside of Paro. The setting is immaculate, with lovely views into the valley, and nothing but the sound of crickets to disturb you. The level of detail in the decoration and design is incredible. Highly recommend.

No generators connection to room so when there is electricity cut off there was no lights for a long time for which we faced lot of inconvenience. We requested for giving us tea to our rooms as we could not prepare it and it was ignored. No hot water. For old people walkable distance as rooms are very far. Senior citizens problem are also not considered. Dint feel comfortable. Wanted to leave soon.

Fantastic hotel at a superb location, great food and fantastic service by a warm and dedicated staff. Keep up the good work, guys! This is one of the best hotels that I have stayed in and one never feels like checking out from here. We hope to get a chance to stay here again.

Excellent hotel in Paro Bhutan. Out of city and located in an hill slope. Friendly staff, Clean and neat rooms, restaurant, meeting hall, garden and passages with lot of beautiful flowering plants, 24 hrs hot water, room heater and Good food makes it one of the best place to be in Paro.

Amazing experience staying here, a hotel with rich heritage and history. Superb ambience, Bhutanese architecture and arrangement, spacious, well maintained rooms. Evrything in room is up to the mark.
Staff here is very cooperative and provided us with great service which made our stay more pleasant.
Food quality was very good with lots of varieties.
Overall you don't feel like leaving the place.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. All the offerings of a great property and more. It's also nice to know the history behind the resort, the oldest VIP hotel in Bhutan, set up for the Royal Coronation set amid pine trees and over looking stunning views and the paddy fields of Paro. On a clear day you may even catch a view of the mountain ranges in the distance.
