THEY UNDERGO SEVERE CONSTRUCTION WORKS WHILE RENTING ROOMS; NO NOTICE ON THE WORKS PERFORMED WHEN BOOKING We planed a holiday with our 2 small kids in Brussels on our way to the Netherlands, and chose to stay at Novotel …. For 4 nights, not only for the location, but for previous ok experience with other Novotel hotels. Having stayed before with Novotel, we booked through Booking. Com and were expecting a nice 4 days kids holiday in Brussels. We arrived late Friday night after a long flight and trip from the airport, just to find out that the hotel was renovating its reception area on the ground floor (what we noticed that night), but still renting rooms and with no notice posted on the website about the works being performed. So, starting with the hotel entrance, everything was a working area as it can be seen in the pictures. Reception was moved at the second floor in what used to be one of the rooms. Unfortunately, being a weekend night and late and dark, we could not see the extent of the works being performed, and the reception person was not fair enough to let us know. And I am not talking about slight painting works, as it appeared then, I am talking about severe renovation works being made while still renting rooms and not saying anything about that. But that, we were only able to see and hear on the first working day, Monday morning, when hell broke loose.
