Melaleuca Motel

My recent stay at the Melaleuca Motel in Portland was great! The room was clean and very well maintained. The manager was very friendly and welcoming, and the location was perfect — short walk to the beach and town centre. Great value. I would 100% stay again for my next stay in Portland!

It's everything they have to offer. Linen is fresh & the beds are comfortable. The owner is a top bloke to speak with & the cleaners go above & beyond. We were @ walking distance to all pubs & supermarkets. Very kid friendly.

We checked into the property on 23rd January to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We arrived around 6 PM, and I would like to mention that the owner was courteous and made the check-in process smooth.
After leaving our luggage, we went sightseeing and returned around 10 PM hoping to celebrate by cutting the cake and playing music using the TV. Unfortunately, there was no internet connectivity in the family room allotted to us (Room No. 16), which meant the TV was also unusable. This spoiled the mood, and we eventually had to go outside near the port area just to cut the cake.
The next morning (24th January), I informed the cleaners and reception that the bedsheets and pillow covers had a strong unpleasant smell. The cleaners were polite and promptly changed them, which I appreciated. In another room, the toaster was extremely dirty and unusable; this was reported as well, and the receptionist replaced it quickly.
I also informed the reception again about the Wi-Fi and TV connectivity issues and even showed the error message. The receptionist acknowledged the issue and assured us it would be looked into. We went out hoping things would be fixed, but the same problem continued at night — no internet and no TV. I even emailed the property around 10:30 PM to report the issue.
The following day, when I raised the issue with the owner, he checked the room and claimed everything was working fine, even though it took him around 15 minutes just to connect to the Wi-Fi.

I recently stayed at the Melaleuca Motel in Portland and had a very comfortable experience. The room was clean, well maintained and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location was excellent—close to the beach and town centre. Great value for money. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

Ok room, short walk into shopping area and restaurants. Close to the cable tram as well.

Lovely man at desk, affordable, very clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. Central to everything. Will come back again any time I pass through. He made my son and I feel very welcome. Great rooms.

This was my second time I was staying at this motel. Big rooms queen size bed with one single bed. Check in desk available. Friendly staff and well maintained motel. Budget friendly.

Staff were welcoming, professional, and attentive the motel was located near a quite beach.
Motel was clean and well-kept also the rooms were immaculate and very comfortable.
Had a great stay there will definitely stay again.

Very nice and comfortable for family stay. We stayed there for three days. Staff and manager was so mannered and well behaved. I highly recommend this motel.

We had an excellent stay. Motel is really comfortable. Good location, ample facilities and the room and bathroom were very clean. Parking is right in front of the room which is really convenient.
Also met the owner who seems to be a very nice guy.

Just a head up for those passing the melaleuca motel and seeing the housekeeping wanted sign in the window I was a housekeeper there for just over a year.
1. The wife's the agro one.
2. If you get injured while you are working there they do not care.
3. When busy the owners were out making beds but that wouldn't last long I called a helper to help me the day I got hurt and soon as that helper got there the owners stopped and disappeared.

I went to hospital to have an operation and was back working for these people the day after. Im still recovering for that operation and now have another injury which I got while working for them.
5. They allowed an alcoholic to stay in one of there rooms (a man they called the handy man) a man that drank from the time he woke up to the time he went to sleep he was harrasing the cleaners and the guests but nothing was done until he approached the owners wife.

Absolutely terrible room. Bed cover was dirty with blood all over it, looked like it had never been washed. Room stunk of a mouldy odor, and was just old and dingy. Desperately needs money spent on it.

Worst motel I’ve ever stayed in. So bad that we left and booked into the local Quest, and that was after we were offered another “upgraded” room. Bed linen washed in house, but not ironed, so uncertain as whether it not they are changed between guests. Mould and grime on floor tiles and in shower cubicles, and worst if all, urine still on the toilet even though a re-used “sanitary” ribbon was placed over it to “seal ” it. In the second room toilet seat was wet, which was the last straw. No refund or apology offered.
Location is not great, fair distance from centre of town.

Disgusting. One of the worst rooms ever. Urine on the toilet, wrinkled bed sheets, mould and grime on the shower floor. Issues brought to the attention of Booking. Com, no help. Changed rooms, now toilet seat wet! Shower floor same as before. Manager advised that they wash linen in house, but cannot iron? Left and stayed at the local Quest instead. Pictures and description do not match actual premises as they are now. Hotel is also part of Golden Chain franchise.

Clean. Simple but great location! Comfortable bed, good water pressure in the shower, and cosy.

For an older motel the rooms were exceptionally clean. The location was fantastic, as was the price of the room. Staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This is not a five star motel but it has everything you need. We will certainly return.
