The hotel does the limited job it sets out to do efficiently, but it is a budget hotel and the ambience is Spartan. It's within walking distance of Terminal 2 and the stretch is fairly well signposted. Reception is very courteous, but seems to close at 10 pm, so check arrangements if arriving late (keys can be left in box for early checkout). Rooms are basic, but very clean and fairly quiet. No lift, so there could be an issue with heavy baggage on stairs — also with light under the door from the corridor if you're sensitive. I cannot comment on the breakfast as I left early. Overall, this is a convenient, unfussy and inexpensive alternative for those early departures, but is not (and does not purport to be) luxurious or very 'characterful' — I'd have given it 3.5 stars if I could.

4 stars for what it is, cheap and within walking distance of the airport. If we hadn't known beforehand about the lack of lifts, that would have knocked at least a star off the rating, so be aware of that.

Nice and easy, clean and comfortable, short 5-10 min walk from the airport (behind McDonald's). I ordered a $9 breakfast when I booked, but breakfast isn't available until 7am, and I needed to leave earlier than that to catch my flight. So they gave me a takeaway breakfast box, which was ok.

Quite dissappointed. I know it is only a 2 star but it is part of the ibis brand and it was still $150 per night. Very cold room with no heater, noisy, the bathroom was like youd find at a gym. The staff were nice though. I wont be back and next time would pay a couple of extra dollars to stay at holiday inn.

Clean, neat, friendly and perfect for our overnight stay. Rooms small but have everything you need. Would recommend to anyone.

9 min walk from the jetstar domestic terminal so, very very close to the airport. The rooms were tiny and dated, but you pay for the convenience.

Nice hotel, very simple but comfortable. Its a bit expensive because of the location although very convenient for early flights.

Not very roomy but it's very well equipped, cleaned and maintained, making it a lovely place to stay. Plus the staff are very nice. It's a bit pricy for the room size but I find it acceptable considering the great location.

Great location if you have an early morning flight from Melbourne Airport. Rooms a fairly spartan, but for overnight stays are perfectly adequate. One thing missing is a hairdryer, which is a pity.

Nice room, clean, good bed. But no lift! That puts it in backpacker bracket, for the young & fit. Close to airport — but breakfast (and help with bag) not available before 7.00.

This hotel is fine if you just need to crash for a few hours before your next flight. Rooms are fairly basic but the beds and pillows were comfortable though. About a 10-15 minute walk away for the closest terminal.

Stayed one night, close proximity to the airport very convenient for night flights. Cheaper than other hotels within the vicinity. Room is small, adequate for two people. Walking distance to MacDonald. Breakfast served for extra $9, ideally good.

This hotel is great if you're after somewhere cheap, secure and walking distance to the terminals. Rooms are small, but very clean and quiet, there was no road or airport noise at all, and the air conditioning was unobtrusive as well. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. Check in was fast and easy, and Don was very helpful and friendly when I spoke to him on the phone while booking. My only complaint is that while there was a shelf on both sides of the double bed, I couldn't find any power points near the bed.

Very small room but comfortable had to carry heavy case up stairs, no restaurant or bar.

Small room was perfect for me and my son to sleep in before our early flight the next day. But. What blew me away was that I had left my watch there an expensive gift from my children for my birthday it was found and returned via post. Thank you soooooooooo much to the staff for getting it back to me. Definitely recommend!

I have read through some of the reviews for this motel and honestly what do you expect. I have paid a very reasonable price for a very clean and well presented room. It has tea and coffee facilities as well as a fridge. Towels and toiletries. Yes it is small but its not meant for ballroom dancing! It's time people started complimenting instead of whinging all the time. The staff went out of their way to help me and I would definitely recommend and stay here again. Well done to all at the IBIS! I stayed for a night as I needed to catch an early flight. My friend had booked and paid for the night a few days earlier. When I checked in, I was asked to produce my credit card. I initially thought that this was usual. With two heavy luggage, I was told my room would in the highest floor and I had to use the stairs. The room was tiny and the bathroom much more tiny. No Wi-Fi was available at all. When I was in my room, I checked a document handed to me at the reception. It was a receipt. The receptionist had further charged my credit card for the full amount that my friend had paid. When I back downstairs to check with him, he muttered some unintelligible words and then reversed the charge. Fortunately, I checked in around 9.00 pm and was able to get to the counter before the receptionist leave as the counter is closed from 10.00 pm. Talk about honesty?

Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. Comfortable bed, pleasant breakfast and friendly staff.

Check in was a breeze. The lass swapped rooms for us as we had 3 bags & there is no lift. Bed was comfortable. Room was basic but clean. Only stayed 4.5hrs due to late flight arrival.

Great motel to stay in before or coming home from a flight, particularly for a single traveller on a budget. Was quiet, secure, clean, comfortable bed and you could walk easily to catch your flight if you wanted. Good value for money.

The advantage is near the airport

The sink is near the bedside and not in the bathroom.

Stayed at the Caldwell Ibis Hotel. It was good. Only stayed over night. Room was clean.

Location is good. Room is small but clean. But there is one thing make me very angry. My room was leaking when I was sleeping! Is this quality worth the price? A leaking room? 20% of floor are wet, and my bags…

The only positive aspect for this hotel is its location. Found it to be pricey. Also a fair walk from the terminal. Has minimal facilities.

Convenient location, 8-10 minute walk from Melbourne international airport and near fast-food. Amenities are reasonable but the lack of elevators means hardwork lugging heavy luggage up the stairs.

Location is great if you only need to stay the night, rooms are small and tight. Bathroom is small and modular which has a miners donga accommodation feel, price could have been sharper but it is within walking distance to terminal so it works well breakfast was average.

We had an problem at the airport and had to stay over night. Ibis was our choice, economic, clean and the gentleman at reception was very accommodating with my husbands needs.

There's budget and then there's a whole step down. Rooms were pods with little room around the bed to move. The air conditioning was good but so noisy and old that it sounded like I was sleeping on the runway. If you're thinking of staying here you might want to spend a few more dollars and get a better nights sleep elsewhere.

Expensive for what you get. Small rooms, bad Internet, no food available. Had to walk over to the holiday Inn for a meal.

My worst experience! I rather pay $100 more for a better nearby hotel. No Lift! No water! OMG.

The key word here is Budget, so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. Pluses were the price (had a coupon so it was 75.00 USD for one night) and you can walk from the airport which makes it really handy for an early morning flight. The minuses were no heat in the first room I was in so after an hour of trying I had to move across the hall. If you have big luggage there is NO elevator, you would have to drag it up two flights of stairs by yourself. And the hot water/coffee/hot chocolate machine had strange black things floating in my cup. Even after running it on hot water only for over 3 times. Lastly, though it was clear on the website when I booked it is SHAMEFUL in todays market to still be charging 5.00 for 30 minutes of web access. For me the price was an acceptable trade off, but I can't give it a highly recommend unless of course the price is right.

I use Ibis Tullamarine every time I fly home from Africa. Basic but clean quiet comfortable. Only a stone's throw from the arrival terminal.

A really bad place to be! Much too expensive for a very very small room. No fan, no tee or coffee, no water boiler. No place to put the baggage in. The aircondition inside the room is too loud und could´t cool on hot days. The windows are locked. When we were there it was windy and the sealing on one side was moving a bit up and down. Positiv: near the airport, clean. Never again we will be there.
