A good price, and a fabulous location. Just 2 train stops from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Melbourne.

This is a clean and efficiently run facility very close to everything. We were very impressed.

I'm so glad we booked at the Claremont. Beautiful old hotel, friendly staff. Cenral to Melbourne CBD, MCG, Rod Lavour tennis arena. We will be back for sure next time were in Melbourne.

What hotel? it is a very expensive hostel and has a breakfast that you pay continental but it is not, I'm waiting for reimbursement for falsehoods in proposing non-existent things, a shame even rent cold and damp apartments in unsuitable season, I absolutely do not recommend! ##!

Great location. Room and bathrooms were clean and tidy. However, if opting for the shared bathroom route, know that you will most likely be faced with a cold shower unless you get in early — twice we arrived back at the guest house in the evening and hot water had been used in all of the bathrooms. Also, the heater in our room was broken, so somewhat of a chilly stay.

Nice and close to the city. Rooms and toilets are very clean and staff are very helpful and friendly! Nice and cheap as well!

Great service and close to everything in South Yarra. Great amenities and rooms were tidy. The only down side is the rooms are very small but that's life in a hostel.

First time staying at the Hotel Claremont Guesthouse and I would definitely stay here again. It's about a 2 minute walk from the South Yarra Station. The room is clean and roomy for 2 people. There are plenty of showers and bathrooms as well.

The staff is not friendly, the sheets were smelling like "cheetos" and my bedroom was beside the bathroom, so a lot of noise througout the night… has a good localization and a good breakfast.

We stayed with a group of Japanese exchange students and there parents. This accommodation was very helpful close to Melbourne and a short walk to station or up Chapel street to some fine dinning. Also South Melbourne market in walking distances.

Lovely old building and they have managed to keep a lot of the charm. Great amenities and fantastic staff! Quite affordable too. It's one of the best places in Melbourne for a perfect budget travel.

Great accommodation for the cost. Dining room always accessible with coffee, tea and hot cocoa provided. Bathroom always clean. However, the internet is not always the most reliable. Not located in the free tram zone but still plenty of public transportation right next to it.

Thoroughly recommend. Clean, modern, amazingly good value, great amenities and fantastic staff! Couldn't be happier.

Very clean and comfy room. Shared floor washroom was immaculately clean as well. Front desk staff were very helpful and professional. Close walk to South Yarra train station and many other amenities. Would stay there again if I needed too.

One of the best places in Melbourne for budget travel. Tried a few different ones that I run so fast that couldn't even give 1 star lol! But the Claremont is just as described. Clean, great staff, cool perks as free continental breakfast and Wi-Fi. No elevator but the stairs are beautiful with that nice big mirror that you feel like you're in a period movie, I'm a movie person so for me everything is a movie ;) The share bathrooms are the best kept share bathrooms I've been, like I was there about 1am before going to sleep, then back at 7am all the rubish from previous night was already gone. Also loved the share library, lots of nice books, and comfy clean shared living area if you're late night person but not in the mood to go our and dont want to be in the room either. Perfect location near all great South Yarra food, fun and public transport. Such lovely place. Would be nice if guests respected share spaces and didn't spread their clothes all around bedroom floor, and if they put their phone in absolute silence. People don't realize that phone vibrating all the time all night in a silence room turns out very loud and disturbs other's sleep. But, just people, not hotels fault that not everyone has common sense and respect for shared space. So I only stayed one night and couldn't sleep because roommate's phone. But the hotel itself is a lovely place with everything a traveller needs.

Is a nice place to stay, but for whatever reason, the overhead fan had no blades on it, with the substitute being a small fan, which wasn't effective in the hot nights. I would recommend to anyone staying in the summer to get a room on the first floor, where it is much cooler.

Nice hostel they could really do with an oven for the kitchen. The rooms are small and could do with a bigger fan than a tiny table top one. Especially when they have bunks. If you're a budget conscious travellers and backpacker, Claremont is just the right place. Take advantage of their low cost accommodation packages with lovely free tea or coffee, clean bathrooms and comfy bed.

Loved the stay in Claremont Guest House. Conveniently located a few doors down South Yarra station & the tram stop. Good value for money for families spending vacation time in Melbourne. It comes with free breakfast & free Wi-Fi! Clean environment & friendly helpful staff especially Neil at the reception.
Will definitely come back here for a stay.

I stayed in their apartments, which are 2 blocks away and called "Melbourne apartments of S. Yarra", but still had to check in and also had the complementary breakfast at the guesthouse building. So as for the apartment, it was quite large with full kitchen including oven, good Wi-Fi, but limited to 800mb per day, off street parking, plenty of coffee, tea, and milk, and plenty of toiletries, reasonably clean with decent bed and couch in good condition, even a private porch area, but enclosed without a view. The breakfast was cereal and toast with canned fruit. Overall, would stay again, but take a pass on the breakfast.

Comfortable and clean, housed in a touch of heritage. Free breakfast, but you're better off sampling Tooraks's cafes.

Conveniently located with clean & tidy rooms. Rooms are quite small so would be best suited to overnight stays or those times when there is minimal time spent in the room.

Hotel Claremont House is conviniently located near South Yarra station, 5-7 min by train to Flinders/Southern Cross station. Shared bath but plenty of baths available at all times. Clean, quiet, good location. Perfect value for money.

Affordable place with good location. Has lots of shops, restaurants nearby. Travelling is really easy as the tram stop and train stop are literally 2 mins walk.

Very clean and reasonably quiet hotel. The rooms are quite small. Showers and toilets are shared and are very modern but do not provide much water. The Wi-Fi is sloppy.

Cozy and clean but there is no lift so you will have to carry your own heavy suitcase up the stairs. If you can't carry it then ask someone to help you. The guy at the reception offered to take my suitcase but a young guy (also a guest) was willing to carry it for me.

Well cared for space, very simple and spare but good for travelers who are really just using their room for sleep and occasional mid day rests. VERY secure, with 24hr staff presence and regularly changing for code. Close to some good shopping areas, and quite a few good eats. Also very close to South Yarra Station, so easy transit access.

We loved our stay there, beautiful building, the staff were so helpful and the rooms were spotless. We had to check out early to be on the boat, so they made sure breakfast was ready for us earlier. … would highly recommend.

Very nice professional staff. I was unwell and they made me feel welcome even though I was visibly upset… They had patience as I fumbled to check in… I just wanted a quiet safe place to rest and the room gave me that

Close to a beautiful fountain and coffee shop train etc lovely breakfast made me feel much better.

It's a bed, a mini-fridge, and a TV. At a reasonable price what else could you want? Wi-Fi needs a bit of a fix-up and the showers were more of a fine hot mist but the place was solid and had charm. Would and probably will stay again.

Great stay in a lovely hotel… though the building is old (i suspect, it was built in 1896), it was well-maintained, very clean, and appropriately-decorated… my room was warm in wintertime, slept well in a comfortable bed, with clean towels and beddings… staffs were generally very helpful (i have lots of issues in my short stay) and it was dealt with well by the friendly staffs… location was perfect to me, a few steps away to South Yarra Station, and two (2) stations away to CBD… and adjacent to a new found favorite restaurant SMILE THAI… Free continental breakfast and free flowing milk and chocolate powder drink and coffee… Thank you for a beautiful experience in Melbourne…

Cheap place. Very good location, clean and functional. If you search for a cheap place to sleep, this is a great one.

Being in the hospitality industry, very aware of cleanliness and service and you tick all those boxes, was the best value for money, can not speak high enough of your establishment. Gary.

Rooms are small, but the communal showers are good, breakfast is included (fairly basic, cereal/toast). But it is dirt cheap, and that cannot be underestimated. If you want luxury, look elsewhere. If you want a roof over your head, with a hot shower, towel and breakfast. This place is hard to beat.

So glad I found this place and stayed. Very welcoming, clean rooms, included breakfast… but most important was the easy access to transport whilst not having to stay in the city.

Everything OK but a bit crappy bathrooms and not have elevator if you go with a large suitcase.

Good comfortable clean quiet nights sleep in this hostel. Highly recommend it to anyone after a quieter experience of the beautiful Melbourne city. Very close to train station which is a 5 minute journey in to the city centre.

Get place to stay stayed there a few times nice staff clean rooms will stay there again.

The relation price quality is very good. The spotless bathrooms and very friendly people.
