Decor a bit tired but had all I needed and excellent buffet breakfast and reasonable price!

Great location and so long as you don't mind the faded grandeur and a few little things that don't work like lights and so on, it's a very good value hotel. They even have a nice little basic breakfast area which is no extra cost. The parking is very limited (first come/first serve) and also your car is stacked in a lane behind others, so getting in and out is best left till you leave. Lovely staff and a definite favourite even so.

Great location for easy travel to and from the city. Low price but you get what you pay for.

Good price for what we paid 4mins walking to St Vincent Private Hospital beautiful old world charm in area. Maybe upgrade pillows please to softer/medium ones otherwise thanks for your hospitality. Oh breakfast selection is wonderful thanks.

Cosy. Affordable. Comfy. If my Grandma had a house with a spare room in Melbourne, it would be identical to the one I stayed at, in an old fashioned & homey kind of way. Enjoying complementary breakfast each morning on the communal balcony is a nice treat and with great coffee shops, a 7/11 and trams down the road (6 minute walk) you've got everything you need, especially if you're like me and crave crispy creme 7/11 donuts at 12am.

Friendly and responsive to needs. I am actually thinking of renting my house and moving in. Just joking James. Then again maybe not. I did share how well I enjoyed my stay with my Palfish students in China. I did a live of the front gatdens and balconies on Facebook. The cab service they use for clients is very professional and use direct routes. It is close to amenties, nice garden in front. For people with mobility issues, recommended to manager, ramp/railing at front and possible conversion on first floor handicapped/wherlie accessible and refit two rooms with wet room ahowers. It would not take much to accomplish — the hallways are wide and can handle turns. It is a hidden gem and a home away from home. Thank you all for your excellent care. Yesterday, I woke up to see hot air balloon flying over the roof tops. Rooms not overlooked and was able to have window and drapes open.

Get what you pay for however a good buffet breakfast was definate bonus and pleasant staff. Very dated but clean.

Very pleasant experience living in a victorian style house and neighborhood. The hotel service and hospitality is good.

Unfortunately a lot of work is required to bring this hotel back to its former glory. Although the bed was very comfortable and clean the room was tired and the shower was very awkward to get into and regulate the hot water system. Breakfast was included in the tariff but the shock of only hard boiled eggs with the bacon was very unusual.

Supurb location in a quiet location in East Melbourne but well situated for the various sports complex' around the famous MCG as well as the City Centre. The hotel is understated but a relaxed vibe from friendly staff. Breakfast range good, plenty of free parking. Very good value for money.

Chose this hotel because of proximity to the MCG and also because of its advertised parking. The parking relies on availability — luckily, I got a spot, but others who checked in after me didn't and that meant they had to move their car every hour until 10pm, which is not ideal. The room was small but had everything I needed — it's an older place, but that's ok. It was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. If convenience is what you're looking for, this is the place for you — if it's a luxury hotel experience, then perhaps try the Pullman around the corner.

It's an old house hotel, small and claustrophobic. It deserves a big restoration to get at least 2 stars. : (

Our second visit in 2 years. Very handy to the MCG. The place is old and run down (shades of Fawlty Towers) but the price is reasonable and the facilities are clean. If you think of it as a place to sleep which is very close to the CBD then you'll be happy. We'll use it again.

Great value for money in a lovely location. The hotel has seen better days but is still great value and good breakfast included make a it a Great hotel would come back.

A budget hotel on the city's fringe. Basically for me this was a place to rest my head for the night and nothing more. Given the chance I would choose somewhere else to stay. The reception was welcoming and professional, the car parking facility was adequate, the room was quite. The room itself was quite small and very dated, the curtains need replacing and there were marks all over the walls, upon entering the room we were faced with a locked up musty smell which made our stay less than welcoming. All in all if you are really desperate for a room to sleep then I'd say go for it otherwise I'd suggest looking at other options.

Good little cheep motel. Needs a little TLC but it will be dearer if they fix it up. The only issue I really hard was. We were told breakfast was from 8 until 10 got down there at 9:20 and took they were packing up in 5 minutes. Had to rush our breakfast. Disappointed.

I have stayed at Magnolia Court 4 times in the past 10 years and over that time have seen it deteriorate to a point where I shall not be returning despite its fantastic location. It's no longer charmingly rustic and clean it is old and dirty with dangerous electrical fittings one of the many issues. The two stars awarded are for the friendly staff and the location.

Good value for money. Breakfast was great and filling.

Booked the cottage a month in advance. Got a call 2 nights before we arrive to say cottage was under maintenance we could have a family room. We agreed wished we didnt. Family room was not good. Bathroom mouldy and smelled. The whole place needed a good clean. Nothing like the photos on the web site.

Close to the city, provided a good breakfast. The rooms were comfortable and overall my stay was quite good.

Awful nothing like the photos which are deceptive and misleading avoid this place manager was completely disinterested.

Must have been a nice place, many many years ago. Extremely well located, but that's all. Everything else is no good. Rooms are old, no maintenance at all. If there's one thing you as a hotel owner want to take care of, that's the beds (the matresses to be more specific). Well in this place even the beds are just terrible. Avoid at all cost.

Ugh! 2nd worst hotel experience in my life. Mouldy, dirty bathroom. Pokey room with no supplies. Shocking staff. It is in nice area but in dire need of major renovations. Not much chance of that as owners are not interested in maintaining cleanliness let alone anything else.
