Launceston Backpackers Hostel

Pretty basic backpackers. Clean, organized, and spacious, but could have used more outlets and showers.

Stayed in a double room with ensuite. Clean, towels provided and comfy bed.

The double room was clean enough, but had no flyscreens on the windows and so was full of mosquitoes when we checked in. Good kitchen and location.

It is cheap but facilities are old. If you want a place to take a break, it is a good choice.

It is expensive for what we get but confortable and clean. Althought it said Wi-Fi previous payment on Booking we get free Wi-Fi. Generally It was nice.

Comfortable, clean and quiet place close to all services in town. Rates very reasonable, excellent value. My stay here was 3 weeks while trying to secure a private rental in Launceston. Staff only too happy to help and always approachable. Kitchen is well appointed and bathrooms sufficient. Rooms light and warm. Guests used the piano daily, and many of them were very talented, was wonderful to hear. Free onsite parking secured overnight. Overall, wonderful place to stay in Launceston.

Reasonable rates, big kitchen with lots of utensils, close to Coles supermarket, friendly staff, clean bathrooms. However, linen is not included so either bring your own sleeping bag or rent linen from them. The room I stayed in would get a bit stuffy and hot at night.

Launceston backpackers on 103 Canning street in Launceston is located in a central location with most places thst you need in the city (coles, Woolworths, restaurants etc) being in walking distance. The dorms were well kept and the owners were pleasant and helpful enough. $49 dollars a night was reasonable cinsidering the amenities provided. Overall the launceston backpackers is a good if you're on a budget.

It's my favorite place to stay in tazzie for the piano and huge number of people around. I'm guessing there are 80 beds or more often all full. It can be chaotic, fridges & hot water issues, people stealing groceries or money, but all in it's the best place to meet other travelers.

Stayed at Launceston Backpackers for over 2 months and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The place is centrally located in the CBD, staff are very friendly, accommodating and are happy to point out the local hot spots around Launceston. The cafe on the corner Cucina is a must! The hostel is very clean, shared toilet and bathroom, laundry facilities, has spacious sized rooms available in dorm style or single rooms, huge kitchen, shared dining and TV room. Great place to meet other travellers from all walks of life. Would stay again.

Good central location, close to the shopping stores and super market, good and big bedroom with comfortable bed, complete and clean shared kitchen. The bedrooms don't have good sound insulation, so is easy to listen to people from outside and from the corridors. Very good hostel, for a reasonable price, to relax and sleep after exploring Launceston.

Skungy dirty unorganised seemed like a hostel where people live. Not at all wecoming never again.

Very very basic room. No atmosphere and lots of rules to follow. Quite constrictive.

Affordable place, comfy room, friendly staff. For the price a fantastic room, (stayed in a double bed + ensuite), located pretty centrally which made it easy to get around.

This is just the best place to stay at Launceston. Very clean, very big kitchen and good beds. Ive tryed others at the city but this is the one!

Good location, waking distance to the town centre. Staff were helpful, polite and considerate. Rooms and bathroom facilities were clean. Would definitely recommend to friends.

You can buy everything very easy, since it is close to Coles Supermarket and town centre of Launceston. However, it is not cheap. For the thing you need to use, such as Wi-Fi, sheets and pillows, you need to pay for it.

Room is ok, but the bathroom itsnt.

Highly recommended. The bsckpackers had a lovely atmosphere, the prices were fair, and Dereck at the front desk was. Extremely pleasent and helpful. The kitchen was kept very clean, and it was fully equipped — the best backpackers kitchen I have encountered. The beds were a bit old, but comfortable. There are toilets and showers in different locations — the showers and toilets looked quite old, but they were cleaned thoroughly. Wifi is $1 pr. Hour, so decided to not use the Wi-Fi.

I took a friend from Hongkong to stay here yesterday 25/8.15 and was pleasantly surprised at the interior. Derek the front office Manager was very nice when called in to check her in and I had a good look around. All was exceptionally clean and tidy. My friend booked a single room for $55 for two nights prior to moving onto Hobart tomorrow. Now I had warned her about previous friends from HK having had their baggage stolen from this establishment and luckily she took her valuables with her when she went out on a tour today but she arrived back to find all the food I had given her (and I mean copious amounts of food enough for 5 days) stolen from the fridge. This was all labelled with name and departure dates and some low life decided to alleviate her from the items I had given her. I did come across a rather strange person who was fulled geared up with motor bike helmet who was wondering around the inside of the hostel and this continued all day yesterday and today. Derek was sweet enough to reimburse my friend with $20 (thank you) but it is rather disconcerting that your articles are not safe! CCTV wouldnt go amiss!

We booked a double room yesterday for today. The staff at the phone told us that we can't check in between 12 and 3pm, so we said that we'll come in the morning. All good. Now the Manager tells us, that we have to come after 3pm, because there is no room ready. We just booked a double room in another hostel and saved 20$. End of story. 1 Star.

Nice place and nice staffs. I stayed there for 4 nights all were good! The only little complain from me is I couldnt turn the heater on at night but it was't too cold. The blankets are thick enough. Ps. I was lucky enough to heard a staff played piano in the afternoon. That was 'My heart will go on' and it is one of the best version I have ever listened.

We have stayed at this hostel on numerous occasions. We have always had an enjoyable and comfortable experience. The location is perfect. Nice and quiet. It is not a party place which suits us fine! Kitchen is great to cook in and the rooms are adequate. No problems with the staff. A great place to stay in Launceston. Just watch out for the in-house cat. It's pretty angry.

Personally, I did lived in there for 3 weeks, stayed in 6 beds dorm, beds are ok, air quality not bad for an old building, as this building is made out of breaks. Impressive kitchen with Very nice gas stove! However, the fridges aren't quite cold enough for curtain items, so no ice cream and jelly.

Definitely one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in. Very clean and spacious in all areas; dorms, kitchen, common rooms. The staff were lovely. Close to a supermarket and across the road from a beautiful little park. About a 30 — 40 minute walk to cataract gorge, one of Launceston's highlights. It is definitely not a party hostel, and in my opinion that's a good thing. Unlike some hostels I've been in, I would feel comfortable here if I were 18 or in my 50's. I would highly recommend Launceston Backpackers.

I had to move to Launceston for 3 weeks in the autumn to attend work experience as part of my nursing degree. I found this fantastic backpackers online and really enjoyed my stay! The building was old and beautiful, but the inside was modern and clean. There was a flat screen television in the shared lounge area! The kitchen was fully equipped and spacious. I loved my room, and my belongings were secure (I had my own room). What made the experience the best was the friendly and welcoming staff! They made me feel at home, and this made the fact that I had to live and work in a strange city without my family and friends easier. I would like to thank all the staff for that! I recommend Launceston Backpackers to travellers looking for budget accommodation.
