Great find can’t wait to come back. Stayed for a long weekend with two kids 11 &14 in a family room. Minutes Walking distance to the shops and beach. Great chilled & relaxed atmosphere, owners are so lovely and helpful with tons of local info. Highly recommend.

There approach with guests is appalling. If you've done something wrong they don't say what the reason is, Linda is lovely but her husband is a dick
no wonder the 1770 is doing so much better.
as for the guests there, they were lovely and wonderful.

Cool Bananas is one of the best, cleanest and friendliest hostels you will ever stay at. Here you will make friends for life and most likely stay longer than you originally intended.
The layout of this hostel and wonderfully open common areas make it so easy and suitable for strangers to mingle and become friends. Whether you’re traveling solo or with a group you will find it super easy to connect with everyone else around you and feel so welcomed into this family.
The amenities and facilities in this hostel are tops and all the rooms are super comfy and clean! The location is also perfect and from Cool Bananas you will take only short walks to everything you could possibly need; beach, shops, pub, forests and more. Do not hesitate to visit Agnes Water and most definitely stay at Cool Bananas when you do! You won’t regret it.

Such a nice place to stay! It’s the best hostel to meet other backpackers, while preparing food in the kitchen but mostly at the fire pit every evening! The staff is so lovely, friendly and helpful! Definitely recommend staying here!

The Cool Bananas is the best hostel I have ever met. The friendly and familiar atmosphere makes you feel immediately at home. The hostel is very clean and very open. A perfect place to relax and unwind.

It has some lovely bells and whistles, and is reliably clean. Overpricing knocks a star off this one, plus the humiliation of being forced to wear a dopey wristband and the idea that they unplug the modem for two hours at night for "family time". The internet is all the family some of us will ever need. Cool digs overall. Hot tip: don't take the Reef 2 Beach surf lessons. Everyone in Agnes Water seems to be a paid shill for at least one other business. Very strange.

Well, it has been said before, my story is also that I wanted to stay for about two weeks but I ended up staying two months! Good vibes all around, a home away from home. Its a beautiful place, very relaxed, familiar. Very nice owners, the best hostel I have been to in my life so far. Close to the beach and shops, but silent at night so you can sleep well. Highly recommended!

The Cool Bananas Hosted is really cool. When I arrived tithing the bus dancing "Bananas" Picked us up from the Bus. The atmosphere is nice and the Hostel is not too big. The location is good as well. I can recommend this Hostel and if you go there, definitely do a Surf Course! That's really fun.

I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights. Disadvantages : 1. Lack of hygiene — which is the most important thing — Dirtiest kitchen I've ever seen in a hostel in my 4 months of staying in hostels in NZ & AUS! Since it's a water conservative hostel — the staff leaves hot water in one sink (out of two) so you'll use that water only. At first it's ok but later on during the day it gets SO disgusting as there's everyone's leftovers dirt inside! Murky water! There's always a staff member there to watch you and make sure you don't open a tap and that you only use the filled sink. (I completely understand that they need to make sure you don't waste water, but it makes the dish washing to uncomfortable and even awkward). The kitchen is filled with flys and there was also a spider web near the pans… All of this made the cooking/food preparation to unbearable and you'd want to minimize your stay there to as little as possible. 2. They change the password every day and to get the password YOU HAVE TO SOLVE A RIDDLE* (!?!?!?! ) *Between 6-8PM it's "family time", so the staff shuts down the Wi-Fi! I find it very frustrating that this "no internet policy" is being forced… The guests are all grown ups and can decide for themselves whether they wish to disconnect from the internet or not! 3. Bad lighting in the showers — yellow lights to avoid bugs attraction, as they're attracted to white light. It's mostly dark in the showers area, makes it very uncomfortable to shower. 4.

Really great hostel. Excellent outside area for drinks and socialising. Big kitchen area with plenty of pots and pans. Wi-Fi available but not very far stretching. Highly recommended — only downside was no air con in the room and not a very strong fan so it got pretty warm. DEFINITELY do Gnarly Surf tours — it's worth getting up for :)

Lovely clean quiet hostel with surf lessons available to sort book and board hire. Family time 6pm-8pm where Wi-Fi is turned off and we generally played board games and socialised during this period. Would stay again.

Welcome HOME! This is exactly the feeling what I had when I arrived. Such a nice lovely place. The staff are super friendly, super helpful… thank you for a good time!

Super chilliges hostel. First you are picked up by employees in the banana costume from the bus and then you get given a candy in banana form when checking. The beds were very comfortable. We hadn't slept so well for a long time. Breakfast for free was also there. Nothing special, but we hadn't expected it.

I've stayed at countless hostels and this one remains the best in service and cuteness. They give you a candy banana upon arrival as initiation and encourage socializing by only giving away the Wi-Fi password during non black our hours with a riddle game. Highly recommend. 1770 is so underrated, wish I had more time to spent there!

Friendly and helpfull stuff. Bath and kitchen are always clean. The hang out area is big and there is always a good atmosphere. Best hostel I have been on my work and travel adventure so far! Go Bananas!

Enjoyed our stay but they oversold the van parking and we were paying for a spot that didn't really exist. Had to rearrange cars late in the night while drinking because there wasn't proper spots. A little unprofessional. Other than that fun family crowd.

Really cool hostel with a fun atmosphere. The staff really go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant. We were there over christmas and they provided a free christmas breakfast and organized a secret santa gift exchange. Overall it was an amazing stay.

Nice hostel, employees and surroundings. Camp fire in the evenings and diner with all guests. Good place for relaxing.

Loved this hostel. Very very friendly hosts. Restrooms and showers are clean. Kitchen is was a bit messy during bussy hours but well equiped. Havent seen the doorm rooms, because we sleept in our campervan. But hey you can use full infrastructure for a small amount of money. Great.

Have been on the road for a year now and this has been the best hostel I've stayed so far. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, very clean and allround really good vibe.

Great service! Clean bathrooms, only thing is no soap in womans bathroom. Stayed in our camper but used kitchen and it was always quite clean and tidy.

Still thinking back with wonderful memories. On my East coast route, I never felt so home again. Cool Bananas is for everybody who wants to make friends and have the time of their lives.

Great hostel with a friendly and very open vibe. $20 surf lessons are a great deal. Everything clean. It can sometimes get a bit noisy at night because the rooms face the common area, but it quits down eventually!

Cool Bananas: My favourite and lovely home♡ I stayed here for 2 month full of fun and memories. I don't know what I love the most about this beautiful hostel. The clean rooms and kitchen, the chilled vibes and the music or the surf lessons for a really good price. The people are those, who make it to such a great place, to the best hostel I've ever been. Our banana bunch staff team is amazing and especially you Linda and Cary. You were like my mum and dad. You're doing an awesome job with your hostel, thank you so much for that an keep going I'm so thankful that I had the possibility to be a part of this big family. It's sad that I had to leave too soon. I miss everyone. But I'll never forget this time I had at Cool Bananas and all the great memories. They'll stay forever in my heart.

Chill hostel with very friendly staff. Big kitchen and opportunity to buy dinner every night for 8 dollars (everything home cooked). Overall great experience.

Homely feelings in this place. Chef comes in daily with great cheap homemade food and delicious crepes with all the toppings :) linda and cary are new owners and Make you feel welcome and help with all your needs.

One of my favourite hostels in Australia. The owners are super cute and always around, hence the kitchen is also really tidy. Was chilling in one of the hammocks mostly and had a great time :-) can recommend 10/10, also for campervans who want to do facility only!

Absolutely loved this hostel! Good vibes, great people, and new found friendships! Everything about this place was done really well, loved the way that Greg set it up! Wow, after six months travel this is definitely one of the best places I've stayed. My friend had told me this was the best place in Australia, so I had to stop by and see — and it's hard to argue. There may not be too much to do in 1770, but Greg and the gang will take great care of you and the facilities are fantastic. Can't say enough good things about Greg. If there was a hostel I would like to stay and work at, it would be here. Also be sure to take surf lessons with Gnarly Tours, you'll have a good time.

Fantastic place to be, either for travelling through or extended holiday. Cheap food and reasonable owner, plus friendly locals that loves stopping by and showing you what's up. Would definitely pop again if I had the spare time.

Definitely best backpackers on the east coast. Designed and built as a hostel with beautiful details and a wonderful garden. The owner and staff takes an incredible effort to keep everything clean and tidy. The vibe is super relaxed and there's a lot to do in Agnes. I went there to stay for 2 days and I left after more than 7 months. I recommend it to everyone who's open minded and has a good spirit. Enjoy!

Great and relaxed vibe. Owner is well educated about travelling, can give you good tour discounts and makes guests feel home away from home. Yummie food freshly cooked every night for only 6$. Most cleanest hostel I've been to.
