Exceeded my expectations. Very happy with our apartment that we had for 4 days. Was good to have our own laundry and kitchen and loved the semi outdoor balcony. Very reasonably priced and whilst not ultra modern they are certainly not dated. Excellent customer service, especially from Samantha and Justin. Highly recommend.

We have just left. We had a very relaxing time every one is very friendly we stayed 7 days. Would do it again perfect location as well.

Rudest receptionist EVER! To bad if everything else was good. She soured the experience.

Would never stay here again. Extremely over priced for what you get. -Car parking — Your website says you have 2 free off street carparks, however every night when we returned to the apartment we had issues with finding a park space and had to park on the street. -washing machine — was absolutely filthy. Our clothes came out even dirtier than when I put them in. We had to take our washing elsewhere until they eventually replaced the machine. -black out curtains — these are in the lounge rooms but not in the bedrooms! There are old Venetian blinds in the main bedroom which lets light easily in, there is a security light outside which shines through a large gap directly where your head lays! — Wi-Fi is shockingly slow. — gym is closed. If it is closed because of covid then why are other common areas still accessible? Also, at least offer some sort of discount not having basic things I have at my own home. I tried to talk to reception numerous times regarding some of our complaints. The first time the reception was so busy and only 1 staff member on, I ended up walking out. I tried calling twice and it went to a message bank both times. Another day I went to reception at 2:45pm and it was closed even though on the door it said 3pm close. Only after I emailed did I get a reply which just brushed us off.

Recently stayed for 10 night's fantastic place nice and clean great quality linen. Pool's were abit cold but heated pool was our favourite. Wasn't keen on the restriction on toilet paper we'll be back.

Was woken up at 6am nearly every morning with garbage truck reversing down the driveway to empty bins.

This is my third stay here. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Great place to stay. No dramas at all. I have enjoyed all 3 stays. Great location. So many pools to cool off. Great staff. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Lovely place to stay. Convenient to Cairns CBD, clean and comfy. Don't order scrambled eggs from the cafe though, I think she makes it in the microwave and its incredibly bad.

Service and rooms are excellent. Convenient to walk just over in few minutes to cairns central. Cooking facilities are all in the rooms. Customer services is excellent.

Great location. Stayed 3/7 to 8/7/18. Everything was easily accessible. Shops, restaurants, airport… everything! Pickup for activities/excursions from the front of apartments, or walking distance. No need to rent a car. Apartment (Deluxe 1 bedroom) was great. Clean and comfortable and had all facilities (stove, microwave, full size fridge, dishwasher, washing machine & dryer) to enable self sufficient stay. Front staff was very helpful. Jamin and Evan were excellent in providing local knowledge and suggestions in regards to reef tours. I would happily stay again. There were a couple of negatives. Eg no lifts and getting to the top floor, with luggage, can be a little difficult, but no biggie. A bit of noise with garbage trucks, but hey! Again, no biggie. I would gladly recommend staying at this location. Definitely worked for my partner, Sue and I. Thank you.

Clean, well kept but VERY noisey facility. 12 blocks with 15 or so rooms in each. The place has been like a mad zoo in school holidays. Pools are a nice touch. Sauna is good quality as well. If you are a working traveller or looking for quiet rest this is not the place to stay. I would consider staying at Cairns zoo next time for more peace and quiet.

Really clean and great standard. Great staff. Pools were so pretty especially light up at night. Only 10min walk from marina. 100% stay here again.

Cairns. A few days to swim in the middle of the coral reef fish. The apartment was comfortable but too close to the road, so too bright.

Great location, next to Cairns Central. Apartments are clean and have everything you need for short stays. Reasonable priced as well.

Apartments are very well laid out and appointed, except for the shower which is over a small bath. Not easy-to-use for the elderly or infirm, also potentially dangerous as the bath is slippery, beware! Don't know if all apartments are like this but the one I was in was set up this way. Also make sure you get one away from the pool as it is always noisy there. My apartment had the pool behind it and I usually always had to close the bedroom window and the outdoor patio sliding doors most of the time due to the high noise level even late at night (10 pm).

Good location, everything in walking distance.
Nice facility with 3 different pools.
Parking lots and free available.
All in all a good middle class apart-hotel.

Well located self catering apartment — few steps from a shopping centre which holds a Coles supermarket. 1 mile from the esplanade. It did a good job during our stay there for the great barrier reef tour. Not giving 5 starts as our room was facing a distribution centre and it was a little bit noisy at times. Helpful staff, quick check in process, free parking and decent bed.

Very nice hotel, apartment provided of what is necessary. Clean and convenient for travel. Located in the secondary it would be very quiet if it were not for the noise caused by other customers of which you are victim due to the lack of glass to the studio windows that have only a wooden shutter and therefore do not isolate.

Studio room has the basic necessities to live, bed is comfortable, choice of 3 pools. Wifi and air con worked perfect. Location is in city and RIGHT NEXT to shopping centre which is so easy but next to train line (but train only comes about 3 times a day). Busy road behind the hotel is noisy.

Easy stay! Great pools and gym. Free parking. Close to amenities. Paid extra for "pool view" but looked out over a tin roof. Would stay again.

Good apartment with good facilities, from microwave, cooker, television, safe, kettle, air conditioning and more, the most important things are available, also a power plug adaptor can be borrowed at the reception. For 3 AUD You can use the laundry room, laundry detergent can be bought either at the reception or in the shopping center next door. There are 3 swimming pools, each between the buildings and a fitness room which you can use freely.

We stayed here for seven nights, 2 adults and 2 kids in a deluxe 2 room. We absolutely loved it. The rooms where clean and modern. Lovely pool areas with the water perfect temperature. Lovely big balcony overlooking one of the pools. Great location with walking distance to everything you need. This will be the place we stay now when we plan to come back to holiday in Cairns.

Very rude staff! The rooms are not as promised. If you book a king bed you will receive two single beds attached. Then you complain, they will ask for extra money to change your room. Extra coffee or tea at room will charge you too. No cleaning or any room service. When we asked how it works the reception said this is how it is in Australia, maybe it’s different in your country! So rude! We are Australian citizens and living here over a decade! And the railway passes next to the rooms and makes a noise you may not after in your holidays. Think twice!

Nice rooms, very nice staff. You can recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

The studios are decent, but either of an often loud road or by the train tracks. If you can, request the train tracks. There are only 4 trains a day. It's much quieter. There is no daily housekeeping. Location isn't bad, but overall, this place could be better. You get what you pay for.

Lovely. Clean. Pools. Very close to town /esplanade/ Cairns central. Good if you plan to visit green island or skyrail as it both stops close by.

Studio-type room, very comfortable, spacious and excellently equipped. One block from the main shopping and six from the waterfront. Pools and gymnasium with access from 7am to 10pm.

Good for a budget. I spent a week here on a work trip and found it quite relaxing. Families were roomed on the other side. Large pool with bbq areas and lounging between each of the buildings.

Good overnight stay. Centrally located, clean and tidy. Reasonable value.

Comfortable clean room. Convenient location close to CBD but also quiet. Friendly staff.

Lower your expectations. The place isn't bad but it's not as advertised. Superior rooms do not have the promised peaceful pool views but are over the parking lot. The pool view rooms are next to a train line. You are not guaranteed a bed but could rather wind up with a therapist's sofa to sleep on, not even a fold out. If you have a bed the rooms are comfortable and you have all you need for your stay including laundry facilities. The staff are also excellent and helpful, especially the woman running the Wild Lime cafe who provides awesome breakfasts.

Spent a week there. The receptionists were very helpful whenever I asked about tips for activities or excursions. The rooms were big and nice and even had two balconies. Nice working kitchen and good beds. The location was also pretty good :)

Excellent apartment. Nice and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Has everything you would pretty much need. Brilliant location as only 10 minute walk to promenade/bars/restaurants and a 1 minute walk to shopping centre. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it. Couldn't fault the place at all, loved it!

Good place, next to the supermarket, kitchen equipment are.

Location is great and room is decent. However, customer service can be improved greatly. We're there for three nights and weren't offered any toiletries nor enough cooking condiments. If you want fresh towels you need to pay $2 each. They even charged me for printing our boarding pass too! Late check-out was not possible when one of my family members was sick… These are pretty basic services that other small hotels would easily provide without any surcharge.

The pool was the absolute best bit! Loved it!
The room suited our needs and the air con was effective (except quite noisy). We thought the appartments were serviced (when they weren't) and perhaps that wasn't made crystal clear to us, but we managed.
The staff however were mixed — one that we dealt with was lovely and even let us print off our boarding passes for our flight the following day. When we arrived the young girl we dealt with was really snobbish and unfriendly. My friend struggled with the rule that we had to use credit card because that was not known to us before booking and she had to move money around to be able to pay the deposit on arrival. The girl was completely robotic and unhelpful — it's lucky my friend had a credit card because we would have been in trouble if we didn't. Overall the facilities were good, pool was great, close to shopping centres, but staff were unhelpful and rude at times.

To all my friends and family I strongly suggest nobody stay at the southern cross apartments in cairns, we only recently returned from our trip up in cairns. They have without no warning withdrawn $200 from my team mates account, wait for it as the man below our apartment complained on Friday night of us being loud, best part is Friday night from 5pm we weren't even at our apartment we were having dinner in town and best of all we didn't get home till after 1pm nor did we even have music in our room what a joke! The lady refuses to refund the money even though she knows she has clearly got the wrong room! Please share this all on your pages.

We had 3rd floor pool view apartment. In hindsight should've booked lower ground. It was a struggle with the suitcases.
However room was very clean. The apartment is about a 15 min walk to esplanade but big shopping centre next door is really handy. Reviews were correct when they said its a bit noisy, but every night we closed the plantation shutters & that helped.
Would stay here again.

Had a 1 bedroom apt. Roomy, clean and best of all my room was on ground floor and opened directly into 1 of the 3 pool areas. Plenty of BBQ facilities and walking distance to a variety of different shops.

My family of 6 (all adults) booked 3 rooms here. Unfortunately, while we were there, there was a stabbing right outside our rooms (stabbing was done by a permanent resident there and we saw that person get handcuffed and taken away). We requested a room change to move to another area of the complex but were denied saying there was no other availabilities for the type of room we had booked. The front desk staff was extremely unhelpful. I've never heard "there's nothing we can do about it" so many times. Apparently the front desk staff have zero authority to do any room changes or do anything for that matter. Everything had to go through the manager (sam) who was only on duty from 9-5pm. As we were in cairns on holiday, we had tours booked everyday and were not at the apartments from 9-5. He refused to call us before we left or after we got back due his being "off duty" and we were requested to "look for a pay phone to call him while we were on our tour. " (we did not have an australian mobile as we are from the states). We felt unsafe in our apartments (they could not tell us if the guest who did the stabbing was on the premises or not) and they refused to do anything about it or even take the time out to TALK TO US when we were upset. Sam finally agreed to speak to us over the phone the morning we checked out. And said there was nothing he could do anything except waive our Wi-Fi fees (which by the way, the Wi-Fi there REALLY STINKS.

Central city location closest to the shopping centre & walking distance to virtually all the cities offerings including the fruit market. Rooms are decent with necessities and included bonuses: air-conditioning, & balconies w/ added bonus to ground to have direct access to the pool. Would be 4 stars if the train line didn't periodically have a train run just behind the service appartments. The breakfast is nothing to be excited about but it's better than no breakfast if you're too lazy to make your own.

Really nice appartment, washing machine and dryer, good sized rooms everything you need, dishwasher, really good appartment.

Overall the room is small, the bed was OK, the kitchen was good and the bathroom was large with plenty of hot water. The sofa (made of wicker) was old worn out, torn and no support and should be replaced. Check in was easy and simple the same with check out. Pool was not used but seemed in good shape. Plenty of worker bees around should anything go wrong. A good 30-minute walk to and from the centre of the City but really nice to be close to the Mall. Overall a 3 for average.

Rooms small, but reasonable well equipped. Microwave, dishwasher, double hot plate. Room was on second floor, but no lift. Plenty of car parking spaces. Great location on the edge of city, very close to Cairns Central. Service was OK. Deal was free Wi-Fi, or free wine, not both as the website seemed to indicate.

Room is alright. Tv is a bit old and doesn't have many foxtel channels. Layout of pools is very nice. Only a cold water spa though. Front desk staff were average to deal with. Might come again.

Just wanted to say had a great stay with really good people working there now we got in at 8am knowing full well checking in is at 2pm just dropping bags off they said they would txt me to let me know when room available 10am get txt so much impressed by this made my stay even better pools were great thanks.

We stayed in one of Southern Cross' smaller rooms. The property is very nice, including pools, laundry services, and is in an excellent location. The room amenities are also updated and in good condition. Importantly, this includes an effective ac unit. My only complaint is that they are stingy with Wi-Fi, making you pay per day and only allowing one device at a time. I'd recommend this place in the future for those looking for a decent place on a budget.

Conveniently located next to bus stop, train station and shopping mall. Clean and tidy. Nickel and dime too much, you even have to pay for extra toilet paper.

Simple but it's worth the price. Wi-Fi is paid and you can only use the internet one device at a time so this is a negative point. Great location. No room service. Each room has kitchen facilities, and the hotel has a public loundry room. You don't have to pay to use it, but you have to pay for the loundry powder.

Great location in Cairns, close to Cairns Central and only few blocks to the Esplanade. Having fun with mates in this place on holiday. Having beer at the pool until falling asleep definitely the best experiences while stay there.

Whilst on a holiday in Cairns we stayed here. As a reasonably priced place to stay after an exhausting day it's okay, however it is a little rough around the edges; The kitchen in the apartment was too small to cook in, and the beds weren't great. It does have a very good location, next door to a small shopping complex with a coles supermarket which was handy, and a short (5-10min) walk to the Esplanade. The reception staff were also very friendly and helpful.

If you want any sleep, don't stay here. It's like sleeping in a car park. We were woken up every morning from 3.30am by rubbish trucks and it went on till about 7am. We were woken up by people coming and going in the apartmentl car park all night, as well as noise from the stairwell. The management didn't want to know. We complained to the travel agent when we got home and the managers won't even answer them.

Recommend as a convenient and affordable place to stay with great facilities and locational the Esplanade.

Was a great place to stay, was amazed by the spacious clean room we got for the price we paid, the pools were clean and the surrounding area around the pools had a relaxing atmosphere, the staff were obliging, the cars were able to be locked in a secure compound that was near ones room, shopping was walking distant also it was only a short walk to the beach front that had heaps of eateries for one to choose from.

Beautiful and well-equipped apartments. They have a living room with kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom with washing machine and dryer, and a nice community pool. They are situated in a quiet but somewhat reclusive at night. The Centre of Cairns and The Esplanade are a 15 minutes walk. Next to the apartments a mall there is with many shops, restaurants and a good supermarket. Very close also to the central train station, from where you can take the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Nice and recommended site for stay in Cairns. / Beautiful and well-equipped apartments. They have living room and kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom with washing machine and dryer, and a very nice swimming pool. Located in a quiet neighborhood but a little lonely by night. Downtown and the Esplanade are about 15 minutes walk. Next to the apartments there is a mall with many shops, restaurants and a good supermarket. Also very close is central railway station, where you can take the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Pleasant and recommended place to stay in Cairns.
