Nice breakfast and good customer service from the staff.

Good facilities for cooking your own food, not overcrowded. Nice and clean and pool area is nice too.

The staff are very friendly and caring.

I booked a twin room with ensuite. Was pleasantly surprised to have tea and coffee in my room. Room was spacious, bathroom large and clean. Even had towel and soap supplied. There is also a TV in the room. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Luv this place and I am a regular guest. Staffs they rock! Especially, (Amy) working on front dest reception. Rooms are at decent prices and super clean inside and out. Great atmosphere. 9time out of ten.

The experience was way beyond the expected! The staff was unbelievably friendly and the room was absolutely amazing. The central location is perfect for exploring the city for a few or many days. Keyle, Sam, Aga, Amy, Dani and all the staff was so helpful and made this experience been one of the best that I experienced so far! Thank you so much Sydney Central Yha team!

Awesome breakfast yesterday as always guys. If you are staying in Sydney and want to be near Central Railway Station this is your place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We love it.

Sarah and Lydia are easily the best promo workers I've met in a hostel definitely recommend anyone staying to go up to the roof and party with them during the week always on a hype and very good at their job. Recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a clean hostel and want a good time.

Nice place. Very conveniently located near the central station and many bus lines. Within walking distance (sometimes a little long) of many sights. Busy, sometimes noisy, but very friendly. Some wear and tear but very clean. There's a kitchen, some common fridges to store food as well as convenient lockers if you show up a little early. (They will also give you bathroom keys if you are early, do you can take care of things. Or a shower. )

Perfect place to get down if you're a backpacker or a student who just got to Sydney. Prices are quite reasonable for the location. They host different events on many days of the week that are definitely not to be missed if you want to have a good time.

Location is fantastic. Not much to say about the view, but being right in the middle of the city and close to central station is so convenient. Facilities and amenities are clean and the kitchens are practical. Really friendly staff and overall the Hostel is fantastic.

I just lost my drink and fruit in the public dinning room and the staff told me I should watch my own staff all the time. All the single traveller please be aware of this situation.

Room and environment amazing, it has all the stuff that a backpacker needs! Most of the staff super friendly but one of them was really rude on Thursday morning during the checkout. But I think this was a isolated fact.

Aircon on freezer… noisy, kitchen messy. Non-smokers in enclosed chamber without air supply? The room was very comfortable. But right at the station.

Very close to Sydney's largest station, convenient everywhere, think of the lively shopping downtown can choose the train or walk some way (about 15 minutes), the environment is comfortable and clean, to the youth hotel is full of senior, the counter is also very kind.
In many backpack inns, YHA is relatively safe and comfortable, if girls travel alone can choose here. If you have a YHA membership card, reservations can be discounted.
In addition, there will be discounts and free Wi-Fi for continuous stays, otherwise there is an additional charge for Wi-Fi in the room in general.
Every day there are activities, there are shared kitchens, friendship restaurants, audition rooms, swimming pools, telephone booths and so on. Is a vibrant place, like to make friends in this can make a lot of good friends from all over the world Oh ~

Honestly, this is a great hostel! It's location is very central and they have a cozy cafe adjacent to the hostel, which was really practical for breakfast. Aside from that, they also have a huge kitchen, a pool, sauna, and the bathrooms were very clean and in good condition. The service was lovely and our private room was comfy and clean. All we needed after spending 5 months in a van! They give you towels and a soap bar. I recommend!

My experience here over all was good. A very nice common area to hang out and plan your day in. But the showers and bathrooms were pretty gross in the morning (vomit, misc items thrown around. ) Probably not a common thing there since everything else is well kept.

Great hostel for any aged backpacker. I promoted the place for the weekend and it was nothing but a great stay. The staff was super helpful and they were very accommodating. There were so many rooms and the pool and sauna were a great feature!

Nice! Staff is super helpful and they always do their best to make you feel comfortable :) Also, they offer really cheap meals (5/6$) for dinner and sometimes even a hotdog for 2$ at lunch! There are a lot of appliances in the kitchen, but make sure to lock your food up! Not everybody is respectful of others… Great showers, really clean and a beautiful outside area Totally recommended.

Central YHA is huge (8 floors) and facilities are well maintained. Big dinning area and huge kitchen. Pool and rooftop are both nice area to chill. Activity wise they do have plenty of options and people seem to be easy going. If you are coming for a cheap accommodation, this place worth every penny you paid. If you are coming for parties, this is not the best in Sydney. You will have fun but it’s hard to meet people cause it’s huge.

The reception and common areas (kitchen/dining room) were clean and cheery. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and made me feel welcome right away. There are MANY activities and things to do right at the hostel and surrounds and it's easy to get involved. There is always a lot going on and it's just a fun place to stay! 10/10

There are better options around the corner for the same price. Not a super clean and nice location…

All stuff are friendly besides one persone works at night and is more than unfriendly.
We just wanted just wanted to celebrate a friends birthday and she threatet us kicking out of the hostel. Amazing experience!

Very clean place and recently renovated kitchen area. The rooms are good and you will meet lots of nice people. As it is in the CBD you can walk or take the bus/train everywhere.

Large and well organized hostel. The rooms are spacious and offer plenty of space. There is also a locker in the rooms. The negative things are: shower cabins (men) are very cramped. For showering still okay, but drying is especially difficult for large people. I also found a filter of a cigarette that was still in the shower cubicle next day. And there are no hooks in the rooms to hang wet towels or clothes. That should be a trifle to retrofit it!

The hostel is very large and from the outside the building looks very good in the old brick look. I think the reception is occupied until late in the night, I do not know whether permanent. From nine you only get to the building with the card. There is the possibility to rent a parking space for $25 per day.
In the foyer is also a large and very good café which is also used by locals. Here you will find delicious breakfast and food and a wide selection of cafes at bargain prices. On the first floor there is a communal floor with kitchen etc.
At the top of the 9th floor so to speak, there are conference rooms as well as a pool with appropriate area. There is also a barbecue area on the terrace! Awesome for a hostel!
The free Wi-Fi is not enough to the rooms, which is available for an extra charge. And unfortunately it is not really fast either.
We had a double room with private bathroom. The room is very spartan. A table wouldn't be bad. The seemingly very old floor carpet is also no longer very clean. It was okay. And for that one point deduction.

Beautiful hostel! The WLAN could still be upgraded and some floors could be renewed. The staff is super friendly and always helpful!

The Sydney central YHA was able to help me with my trip in Australia very well, pity that only 2 counters were open at the reception and only one tour planner was there. So I had to wait a whole 45 minutes until it was my turn, after that everything went round. The staff is very friendly and I had to pay for the service nothing.

Great staff, friendly people all around, awesome common areas and the rooms and bathrooms are pretty clean. It's situated in a really convenient area and the attached cafe meant that breakfast and coffee were close when we needed it. The rooftop pool and kitchen/eating area were great too, and made for nice places to relax and meet other people. The rooms and bathrooms weren't perfect, but for what you pay they were great. Will definitely stay here again!

Very friendly staff. Lots of younger people who seem cliquey but overall a good atmosphere. There's the rooftop pool and patio with some awesome views and a good place to relax. Wifi only available on the roof or lobby. Rooms aren't overly clean and are quite smelly but the good service at the front makes me want to visit again!

4 person room was pretty standard. Bathrooms are shared with the whole floor unfortunately so could get to be a mess at times. Great being so close to the train station. The cafe next door is pretty good too.

Perfect for Teams or people wishing to stay in the heart of the city for cheap. Conveniently located next to Central Station and many fast food restaurants. However, it got a bit stuffy in October and we couldn't find fans or A/C, so can't imagine the heat in summer.

This place is very 'hit' or 'miss'. The food can be great one day and not so great the next. Same as the service, you can get lovely staff, happy, nice and helpful. The next day you will get staff telling you to get it yourself; ie condiments, water etc when they are walking right past it and your sitting eating your meal.

Set in the city centre, this relaxed redbrick hostel is a 2-minute walk from Central train station, 2 km from SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and 3 km from Darling Harbour. Modest rooms and single-sex or mixed dorms feature free Wi-Fi and shared bathrooms. Dorms have bunk beds and lockers. Upgraded rooms add en suite facilities. Amenities include a rooftop pool, a sauna and a sundeck, plus a cinema with beanbag seating. There's also a game room, a cafe/bar and a communal kitchen.

Very close to the train station, Central bus stops, and the interstate bus stops. Dorms were comfortable and well-priced. Staff were friendly, although the Wi-Fi password I was given didn't seem to work (didn't ask for help as I was only staying one night). Good selection of activities, although I didn't get around to any of them. The adjoined cafe was convenient and reasonably priced.

Stay here for a month and found it's awesome! Perfect location, clean, comfortable! Highly recommended for all!

Always welcoming and accomodating staff and excellent facilities but would love to be able to cool or heat our room to how we like to sleep.

After staying here in April I now wouldn't stay anywhere else! YHA central is exactly that, across the road from the train station and within a walk of everything you could possibly want to do or see in Sydney. I had the most amazing time here and wouldn't have changed my experience for the world. I'm planning on coming back to Sydney at the end of the year and this is the only place I will consider booking to stay. Thanks for kicking off my travelling in style.

Toilets were clean and nice, however, sometimes dirtied by guests. I would request the management to kindly take care of this. There is also free popcorn and drinks and other foods in the cinema room and other events too such as quiz. Management also arranges for other events to socialize. Overall it was a nice experience as I mostly wanted a peaceful and undisturbed stay that preserved privacy and I got it!

Clean rooms and linens. There was a huge conference of teenagers staying at the time I was there and I don't think the hostel was the best place for that. Good location, very nice staff.

Decent place to stay. Took private room with attached bathroom. Bit expensive but good location. Next to Sydney central station. Sometimes I find helpful and polite staff and sometimes I find rude staff. Their website doesn't give much idea abt facilities you get for price you pay. They have private rooms with attached bathroom and without attached bathroom for tiny difference in price. So watchout before you book cheaper one. It's safe and tidy.

Terrific cafe downstairs. The staff are lovely, the food is delicious, service quick and it's great value (hard to find around central)

Had breakfast at the café, coffee was poor, bacon roll was good. Plenty of better places to eat 5mins away in Surrey Hills.

Very friendly staff, who have been consistently knowledgeable. Reasonably clean. Highly recommend the Saturday night fireworks. Location is great, though if you're not used to walking a lot (15-20km daily), I'd reccomend using the bus for longer trips, or at the end of the day.

Unbeatable location (next to the Central train station but you never hear the trains), friendly staff, well kept rooms, and intelligent room layout make this place an easy sell. If I need to stay in Sydney, I stay here.

We have been at Sydney Central YHA for 4 nights towards the start of our 2 month trip. All I can ask is that the other YHA Hostels we visit are as good. Clean room, good cooking facilities, kind staff, and great location for our adventures. And an incredible mix of people. Young to old, single travellers to families, everyone is using here. Great experience.

Nice clean place, helpful staff and personal lockers in your room. Good value for money in the city centre but you couldn't store your bag there for free… it's a backpackers even hotels don't charge. Not cool. Other than that it was good.

Love Sydney Central YHA … great location, fantastic rooms, friendly staff. This time a few friends from Melbourne also stayed here and we appreciated being able to meet up for breakfast and cuppas in the huge dining area. The second day of our latest stay here was unfortunately marred by the volume of the music audible throughout the dining room. Background music is always welcome but when people are forced to raise their voices in an attempt to have them heard by friends sitting Immediately across the table it was unacceptable. Several of us at different times spoke with YHA reception desk staff asking if the volume could be turned down but to no avail. My husband went down to ask if it could be turned down 3dBA (half volume) but was told by staff that there was no access to the locked office to do this as it was a Sunday and the manager was not in the building. The staff member suggested that my husband write a complaint, however, although that may have been an attempt to be helpful that in no way addressed our group's discomfort or the discomfort others staying at the hostel were experiencing. On Monday the music was certainly more of the background type but on Tuesday morning as we have our last cuppa for this stay we're noticing it's once again tending to drown out people's conversations which is leading to raised voices AND loud music.

Bloody amazing Hostel. Dont let the little extra it costs put you off. Its the best hostel you'll stay in, in Sydney. Also if you stay for a week you get reduced prices. Also, join YHA, best $25 ive ever spent 5/5

Nice place with good events and inclusions. Free breakfasts some days of tge week. Only problem is Wi-Fi doesn't reach rooms.

Awesome place to stay. Middle of city near train to airport. Make sure to stay on a lower floor though as lift can take ages to get to floor 8

1. Extremely expensive. For the price of 4 bed dorm you get a private room at Maze. 10 bed dorm is 38p/n. Its 26 for 6bed dorm in hostel literally next door. 2. Extremely. Overrated. Only stupid tourist stay here. Until they find out about better hostels. 3. No free drinks, parties, passes to clubs 4. No breakfast, no Wi-Fi in rooms 5. Pool, sauna, coin operated bbq, sh*tty movies.

Go to a YHA is always a good choice, especially for the Central YHA, with the swimming pool on the top you won't be disappointed.

Great centralise location. All major city sights within walking distance and it's located just beside the Central station. Just 15-20mins away from the airport by train. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Great for solo /couples or families.

Based in China Town area of Sydney, with no shortage of places to eat! We were on the eighth floor and there was a swimming pool on the roof. The room was very basic with an ensuite and clean. Pretty good as hostels go. The staff in reception were very nice, a totally international bunch but couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed here on our round the world trip — it was the most expensive accommodation we stayed in.

Too noisy and guests must be mindful that there are no TV's in each room. However, the rooms were very clean and it is conveniently located close to Central Station and shops and pubs, and is a 20-minute drive to Sydney airport.

Sydney Central YHA was a terrific localized location in Sydney. The services were great, including local tips and logistics information for tours. The staff were courteous and always eager to help. The accommodations were clean, but don't count on a ton of privacy, given the size of the rooms. This was a great stay during my international walkabout and I would happily recommend it to anyone staying in Sydney on a budget.

Really clean and perfect security. No problem with security at night as they have a key card to get into the hostel after 9pm. The service is excellent. My luggage had broken upon entering the hostel and they offered to help bring it to my room. Love the stay and will reccomend it to anyone.

I've stayed at YHA during 5 days in January and I can say that the place is just great! Great, friendly and helpful staff, nice (and some, why not) funny guests, comfortable rooms, very clean bathroom and facilities too. The lounge is some nice place to talk to people from every place on Earth and relax if you don't feel like going outside (though it's mad not doing so). They also carry a very good selection of vending machines as well a nice pool and sauna. For what I've payed, it was totally worth for! If I hadn't stayed the others 3 days at a friend's house, I'd surely be there.
