Hostel

It us just opposite to Central Station. At 650m distance from central station through Pitts street exit. It is very convenient for tourists, backpackers and temporary visitors. It is an affordable accommodation as well. We can find all the major restaurants in the radius of less than 1km from this place which is walkable.

Good accommodation for backpackers with cheap options. Some of the facilities might be out of service from time to time.

Nice place to stay. Just a little bit noisy at night because it's near to the Reef where people go to party at night.

Nice comfortable beds and good showers. Bathrooms were very clean and so was the hostel. Big kitchen and good stoves. Close to public transport, train station supermarkets and places to eat.

Lost my passport at airport so wasn't expecting to need anywhere, the place I was staying turned me away for not having a passport — this place is nicer, cleaner and has double windows to block city noise.

Pretty basic, nothing special for the price we were paying. Wifi didn't work.

Was in a 3 bed room and it was all top. Except that I could not open a window and one could only regulate the temperature by the air conditioning.

Has lockers and good breakfast deal. Otherwise pretty standard.

Stayed two nights at this hostel. Room was very clean and nice. Large lockers in the room, with electrical sockets inside them for charging phones etc. The bathrooms are well kept, with male and female kept separate. The kitchen is okay, plenty of fridges for storing food, and cupboards.

Great value for money, clean room, comfy bed, good sheets, awesome shower (shared bathroom), few banging doors during the night but not bad overall.

Lovely, professional staff. Very clean and well made up and in a great location.

Great hostel and well maintained. Have a really cozy common area and huge kitchen. Each every floor has different colours and graffiti. It’s really cool. Staff are nice and price are ok. They kept it pretty clean in public area such as hallway and bathrooms. Also a upside is they have elevators, so you don’t need to worry about stairs if you have lots of luggage or backpacks. Location is just right next to central station super convenient. There are a 24 hour kebab shop and Reef club just right next door. If you don’t like The Reef, the famous Side Bar from wake up is within 5 minutes walk. So it’s also convenient too. Plus 24 hour reception so don’t need to worry about when to check-in or check-out.

Large Rooms, top location, very central, the kitchen is not exactly the madness.

Very good hostel. Good rooms. Good cleaning every day. Good atmosphere. No unpayed Wi-Fi in rooms but in kitchen. Kitchen big but heaters are slow. Stuff is nice and gives his best to clean the uncleaned dishes. Best hostel in Sydney!

What lacks in quality is definitely made up for with the service.

Central, clean and affordable.

I have stayed here a few times now and was never disappointed. Rooms are clean and usually quite on weeknights. A lot of people staying here are long-term working backpackers and have 9-5 jobs. Defo a good place to stay for what you pay for. :)

Cheap but noisy, kitchen in the basement with cleanliness leaves something to be desired, no Wi-Fi except in the basement and of very poor quality. To avoid except for small budgets.

Good thing: cheap, good staff Bad things: cramped rooms, 2 showers per floor per gender, Wi-Fi free only in the kitchen (elsewhere you have to pay for it)

Nice staff and decent rooms. Cleaned regularly and good price. Internet amongst the best I've had in a Sydney hostel.

Stayed for 3 nights. Absolutely wonderful service, everyone working there was incredibly kind and helpful! Rooms were relatively small but comfortable, towels and blankets were all provided, and the bathrooms and kitchen was clean. Incredibly close to Central station, Darling Harbour, and is right in the middle of some great restaurants and shopping. Definitely loved my experience there and would recommend them to anyone!

Sorry but really did not enjoy our time here, we are backpacking round Australia at the moment and up to now this has been the worst hostel we have come across. Loud interuptions all night long, got a rash from the bedding, poor facilities, run down and old and staff that just weren't interested. Only good thing is the price.

Good Backers basic but close to central train station & all other city shops restaurants theatres ect ect. But it's very popular so you my need to book on line. And a bit on the expensive side as most are in sydney.

October — December 2015 Where to Start?
myself and a friend stopped in this hostel for a few continuous months.
here is a list of grievances. … the Wi-Fi was dreadful and used by guests playing shit games urinal on forth floor was blocked for 3 weeks air conditioning constantly broke even when it was 40 degrees outside lift broke often HEINZ baked beans were stolen from fridge bag carpets were minging and smelt walls needed more than a few licks of paint kebab house next door was amazing but didn't wanna smell it 24/7 in the corridors bed sheets got folded up and not changed lockers didn't work door keys constantly broke and when your on 7th floor and lift doesn't walk it's a long walk with no air conditioning $1 water was not cold like advertised roommates didn't wash roommates unplugged lights for chargers someone kept stealing forks from the kitchen — maybe the caravan guy waiting for insurance payout? brazilian top model isn't appropriate tv german sharing beds not paying full price trivoski should have been on tap scousers stole signs and shopping baskets spelt like drugs throughout dryers and washing machines stole money and didn't work chinese checking in at 2am with loud suitcases zips guy left weird instruments on bed in public display receptionist drinking beer on shift weird room with loads of chinese in… used to be common room on 7th floor?

Far better than Nomads where my sister and I stayed last time in Sydney. Fine for one night. Lift would open to different murals/art works which was nice to see. Good to have locks on the bathrooms for safety.
Fantastic location 2min walk from coach stop at Central. Only issue I had was creaky bunks which you get in most hostels but can be fixed with wd40. Seat in the room though looked unsafe as arms creaky. … Locker seemed ok size but most times people would only use them for valuables.

Decent hostel, great location by the station and is a reasonable price. Large kitchen and lockers in your room (was in mine) and laundry facilities. It felt clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Clean rooms, big lockable storage in the room. Great location near bus and train stations. Needs key cards for everywhere so annoyingly had to go up another floor to use the bathroom when my card randomly locked me out of the one on my floor. Would stay again.

I quite like the place! There are cool people around, the kitchen is equipped well and the rooms have lockers. Bathrooms are clean as well.

Lovely people, amazing atmosphere. Bravo to all the staff members especially night staff, amed, for always going out of their way to help us. :)

Clean, Cheap, and very close to the center. For 6 nights, (first book here) they asked us 150 dollars (AUD). 6 beds each room, all comfortable. Big kitchen whit not too much mess, not always full, whit a lot of space. Top.

Great facilities. Showers very clean. Water pressure very high. Hot hot hot water. Beds comfortable and clean. Nice staff. Free Wi-Fi in the kitchen. Only complaint is that this location is right by a club. Outer most windows won't close, so it feels like I'm at the club, too. As I'm writing this at 1:45 am. If you stay here be sure to request the side closest to george street or you won't get much sleep…

Best value hostel you will find in Sydney. Staff are fun, friendly, and helpful. Great atmosphere if you enjoy the backpacker lifestyle.

I found the room slightly small and especially the floor showers, takes getting used to. They were always full, or they saw clear signs of its predecessors.
Tip: next door at the YHA's breakfast.

Avoid unless forced to take one of the cheapie hostels around the CBD, otherwise avoid. This place is low class, dilapidated, course. Owned now by a Chinese couple there is no money being spent to maintain the place but instead seems to have been bought to solely soak up rental income in its frozen state. BEWARE! holiday season and special events at this place with prices rising up to two-fold and guests shuffled internally from room to room to suit the hostel's packing efficiencies for their own maximised income. A hateful place.

Would not recommend staying here. The place is disgusting, people smoke inside and no one does anything about it. While staying here a lady was beaten up by her partner and could be heard screaming, reception did nothing until my mum and I made him ring the cops.

Had a Great stay, Clean, comfortable and friendly staff.

I must say they have really good toilet paper! 3ply! Overall I am satisfied with my stay.

I was just after a warm bed for myself and two others. Unfortunately the windows were shut with no way to open them, the air conditioning wouldn't stay on more than two seconds and the room was hot and stifling with no air flow. The beds were fine, the pillows lumpy, and there were no curtains to keep out the light and noise. I've slept in worse, but I've also slept in better, even at these cheap rates. It did the job, and no more.

Far from supermarkets, far from townhall, far from central, ridiculously high prices, no breakfast, paid Wi-Fi. At least rooms are clean.

Great location. Great staff. Room is nice with aircon. Not noisy, jst abit of traffic from the street. Not a big party spot, big TV room and huge kitchen. Needs fresh paint and new appliances in the kitchen but every thing is at hand and makes cooking pretty quick and easy. Would recommend. Plus its right beside central station.

Stayed for about a month, Great location, Great Staff members. Price has to be the best in Sydney. Would definitely recommend.

This place is right in the center of the CBD, which is it's strongest and weakest points. It can get very loud outside, and since there's no AC your windows will be open. If you're a long term stayer, I'd seek other accommodations. But if you're here to party, this is a great place.

Good location and price, seemed a bit run down but had friendly staff. Somebody stole my bottle of extra virgin olive oil.

The 790 on George Backpackers is a quiet nice place to stay during your holliday in Sydney. It's only about 15 minutes walk to all main attractions like Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Kings Cross. The rooms are nice and tidy and also the kitchen facilities and bathrooms are excellent for an backpacker — low budget — accomodation.

Decent price, not a really flashy place but for the price it's very reasonable. Staff are very helpful. Rooms and communal areas kept pretty clean (of course it depends on your room-mates though), only one small bathroom per floor so sometimes have to wait for a shower but that's no biggy. Beds are good — comfortable and not flimsy / creaky like they are in some other places! No deposit for keys / crockery.

Servie was good. Showers and toilets, disgusting! Room are said to be cleaned daily, but stays covered in nasty black hairs and food. Kitchen is disgusting and very lonely. No one meets up with eachother and at least has breakfast together. Everyone wears there headphone and eats alone. Maybe they should organize the rooms better with same nationalities or something. Originally stayed there for 4 night, but ended up staying there for 10 mights before I found an apartment. A discount and clean sheets would have been nice if I stay that long there. Location is very good though, just dirty.
