We stayed at the Ovolo on our wedding night 5 years ago and came back fir an anniversary and it was just as special, fun, and romantic as it was when we got married. The staff truly do go above and beyond, the location is a short walk to the botanical gardens to stone throw to the CBD, with top rating restaurants right next door on the wharf. We look forward the the next anniversary here — thank you Ovolo.

We had a great family escape. The staff are so accommodating. Rooms excellent and the goodie bags and included mini bar is a nice touch. Our pooch was also very welcome.

Great hotel & location, friendly staff, however the service was very underwhelming. We paid just under $500 for the room and Continental breakfast for 2 which didn’t get served until 945am and breakfast was stone cold and ended up being 2 small pancakes with fruit compote which was not impressive at all! Also, room service when we checked in took close to an hour and it was only 2 cocktails and a snack.

Wow wow wow. What an amazing place Ovolo Woolloomoollo is. My Partner and I stayed here to celebrate his birthday and we were wowed over and over again from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. All the staff are so helpful, friendly, and genuinely happy! Nothing is too much for them and they all actively went out of their way for us. During my booking months prior I had mentioned it was my Partner's birthday and we were seeking some great local whisky bars. After we checked into our room we got a knock at the door — a birthday surprise of two Old Fashioned's, an absolutely divine slice of cake, and a handwritten card from the reception staff — all as a birthday gift! The whole hotel is structurally stunning. So many amazing little details and personal touches. We stayed in a Deluxaroo King Room and were so impressed with it all — the size was lavish, the bed was heavenly, the view was great, and all the little extras included (free minibar and loot bag — woohoo! ) just added to the experience. We loved the free bike hire and the happy hour drinks. Breakfast was delicious and so refreshing! We would have happily stayed here for a month I think! We will definitely be returning to Ovolo Woolloomooloo for another special occasion in the future.

From the early room availability, personalised welcome, the great reception and concierge work from Jay and Nathan to the help the taxi and goodbye we loved every minute. No problem was too much, no request beyond their capabilities. Happy hour with a gift of a complementary cocktail, especially created each day was a delightful touch, as was the sweets (lollies) bar in reception. The room (s) were fantastic, lots of space and the most fantastic view. Breakfast was so good we invited family to come and join us. During our stay we even made time to make use of the pool and Spa which was really chilled. We loved our stay in the immediate area, and proximity to the wider delights of Sydney. If you choose the Ovolo you will not go home disappointed! Paul & Carolyn x.

This is meant to be a 5 star hotel, more like a 2 or 3 star! Poor service, broken air conditioning, badly trained staff, over priced and tries to hide it all with gimmicks.

Our first stay and will be back — Ariel who checked us in was so pleasant and professional. She wished my partner a happy birthday and there was a cake and champagne in our room and an amazing card. Blown away.

We had the most amazing time at Ovolo Woolloomooloo! Cannot fault anything, everything was of a very high quality. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the food was fantastic, the staff were lovely and the inclusions all exceeded our expectations! On top of that, the general feel of the hotel is unique and fun. Best hotel in Sydney, we won't be staying anywhere else.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are just wonderful, the rooms stunning and the service and everything else faultless. The happy hour for people staying at the hotel is a lovely and generous plus. I would’ve moved in if I could! Location is also great for anyone looking to really get a feel for Sydney. It’s close enough to hustle and bustle but also far enough away for some peace and quiet. Explore Elizabeth Bay if you do stay here!

My husband and I had a staycation, which meant we had one night away from three young kids while my mum was in town.
The staff were all so lovely. We also had a bottle of nice bubbles sent to our room from the hotel because we happened to mention that we had a break away from the kids. … We will definitely be back!

I love the vibe! This hotel is awesome. Spacious guest rooms, modern but at the same time historical, close to the tourist spots but in a quiet wharf-side section of the city. They play a great 80’s playlist throughout the building. The only thing I didn’t like is the slow glass elevator and there are no stairs if you’re in a hurry.

Can't fault our stay here. Awesome pick! Clean spacious rooms, friendly staff, very cool and unique vibe, cocktails were fabulous, great inclusions if you book direct, vegetarian heaven, quite location, this place ticks all the boxes. Can't wait to come back!

Attended for a conference. Brought my newborn baby with me and advised there was no parent room/nappy change facilities! I was directed to a disabled access toilet and told that a nappy change table was on their "things to do list". Did they want me to change bub's nappy on the toilet floor? I encourage you to get that nanny change facility sorted out. For such a hotel in such a central location it seems poor form not to have this facility already. Otherwise the facilities were good. Clean and respectable. Good food. Staff ok. Great location.

Very trendy hotel. Maybe trying to be to trendy. The room was great. I think they need to give the restaurant staff some uniforms, or similar jackets, as you can't tell whether someone is a guest or working at the hotel when having breakfast for example. The included happy hour is great, even though some of our drink orders were incorrect, and the mini bar is mini but covers some beers, white and red wine. Is it better since becoming Ovolo? I'm not fully convinced.

Thank you so much to the team here at @ovolowoolloomooloo not only was Laura at reception kind and welcoming but upgraded us to the loft suite and we just had a knock at the door and a staff member delivered us 2 bottles of cider and a personalised card congratulationing us on our anniversary — what a lovely gesture cant recommend the service here enough I'll absolutely be recommending clients to stay here and I'll be back to stay as well.

Have envisaged a stay in this Fabulous Ovolo Woolloomooloo Hotel for some time now… And wow! All expectations exceeded. From the minute you enter the ultra glam, and quirky historic establishment, this sets the scene for a fun and memorable stay. The staff are all so 1st class gracious and attentive. Love the little extras and attention to detail artful decor, and iconic music references. And Alexa, well what a treat… Could not fault. Be back in a heartbeat.

Fantastic hotel! 80s retro theme with songs from the 80s playing at the right volume through out the hotel premise definitely is something unique. They even have free to play arcade machines from the 80s! The 2 floors suite is amazing with bottom level as living room, and top floor as bedroom. Oh did I mention the mini bar in the room is free as well? And it's loaded with wine, beer, soft drinks, mineral water, and sparkling water! Everything is right for this hotel! Highly recommended!

I have just returned from a 4 day stay at Ovolo Woolloomooloo. From the moment you step into the foyer you know you are in for a treat. The staff are wonderful — I would especially like to mention Simone who is an angel. They were all willing to offer assistance wherever needed, making recommendations on restaurants, walks around the area, what buses/trains to catch. We especially loved the attention to detail — free mini bar, great selection for breakfast, happy hour and a parting gift. The rooms are funky are spacious and clean. Our favourite part was returning after a big day out to sit by the fire area enjoying canapes and a free drink as part of happy hour. Would highly recommend it and will be back for sure xx Thank you Ovolo. What a wonderful hotel.

Top location with excellent service and many little imagined extras (eg Alexa). Rooms are too little soundproof. Party until midnight — anyone looking for peace of mind is wrong here.

I've stayed at the Ovolo twice now and both times received some of the most exceptional customer service of my life. I observed the staff treat every customer like a VIP and upon learning that it was my one year anniversary with my partner they went out of their way to provide bonus upgrades to make our evening unforgettable. Would recommend in a heartbeat to anyone looking for an exceptional service, impeccable decor as well as great packages full of included goodies at very reasonable prices. Incredible service. The hotel is so unique — great location, funky decor, modern rooms and loads of freebies. Amazing water views too. I'd pick this any day over the typically dated 5 star hotels in Sydney.

This is our third time staying with Ovolo and unfortunately our worst — it's my birthday and no champagne sent, (previously sent for wedding night plus first anniversary stays — so indicative of a decline in service rather than something I expect) ; was told to wear a birthday badge for extraordinary things, (was hoping for a free flat white! ) but nothing happened; they've removed coffee and tea amenities in main area plus rooms starting to show wear and tear. Super disappointed as have been 3 times in a year but won't be back, as cost cutting measures are obvious.

Stayed for a night with my daughters we all absolutely loved it! The staff were friendly & helpful. Loved the goodie bag & free mini bar. My girls loved using the handsfree “Alexis” to play their music in the room. We loved the atmosphere in the lounge area where we played Pac Man & SpacecInvaders, took me back to my childhood! Great having the restaurants just outside we didnt need to go far from the hotel to eat good food, enjoy some outdoor art works and have a swim in the pool & hot tub. We had a great view of the city & had the best sleep in the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. Only hiccup was we couldnt get the Apple Tv to work in our room & due to a wedding reception on site took about 1.5hrs to get someone to fix it. Apart from that we had the best stay & will definitely be back!

Without a doubt, the Ovolo at Woolloomooloo is regarded as my Sydney “Home away from home “, not only as I had actually physically lived on the property for a no of years some time ago, but every time we return for however length of stay, we are regarded and treated like family. I welcomed and now love the changes that have made to “the Wharf “. There’s a real “skip on its step “ now — and I think the free breakfast bar might have something to do with it! Love it guys! See ya soon!

Staff was friendly, room was awesome as it had a speaker along with Alexa, and also an Apple TV! One thing was probably that the lifts are a bit slow, but not a huge factor! (Wouldn't say the location is the best, as it's a long way to get to from the city, and the peak hour jam is bad. )

5 star hotel, i. E. Really expensive but everything you could want. High-speed Internet, free minibar, Appel TV, 2x flat screens sound system, 2 bathrooms and more. Great pool and Hottubes.

Attended for a friend's wedding. Nice venue but not so family friendly. No baby change facility and the stair lift was not working so had to carry pram up and down the stairs during the night. Staff were apologetic and helpful.

The best hotel ever. Free mini bar, free Wi-Fi, free snacks, free happy hour at the bar (beer, wine and spirits), free breakfast, super friendly staff. What more could you ask for.

It's basically a dock renovated into exhibition place and makes it rather unique. The interior is a mixture of old structure plus modern flair to it. Once entering main door, there's a stair that leads to the main hall. For any organizer who looking for a place to host an event, I personally recommended this place to be considered.

Just the best 4 nights at Ovolo. Staying at Ovolo in our home city of Sydney will now become a regular break : just the best location, best people, best loft room and the funky atmosphere makes you feel great all of the time. We stayed here for the night of our wedding and it was lovely. We got a free upgrade to a suite with a view of the water. Room was funky and clean, good TV and sound system and delicious breakfast. Oh and the staff! Amazing! Highly recommended!

Possibly one of the best stays I've ever had in a hotel! From the moment we walked in the door to the time we left, it was an absolute pleasure. The staff made us feel like royalty attending to our every need and even helping us plan our stay in Sydney. It was super quite with a spectacular view of the harbor and a quick walk to the gardens that went right to Sydney harbor.

Nice location slightly out of city. Easy eats around and Harry's. Pretty hipster place with spacious rooms and great view of water. Lovely pool and good brekky. Being an old warehouse unfortunately makes it cold in winter but absolutely fantastic refurbished building. Wish we had bought an apartment when it was affordable.

Great style, amazing freebies (if you book through their website) including mini bar, breakfast, snacks and happy hour everyday from 5:30 to 6:30 including spirits and food. Staff are really nice and helpful, rooms are large and have a unique style. Great location on an old what in Woolloomooloo with great views of the city.

Great hotel all round. Amazing staff. Amazing inclusions. Great location. Rooms are funky and cool. Staff are super friendly. Building itself is really well done to highlight the old but be really cool and modern. Inclusions are great, drinks in room, breakfast, Wi-Fi, happy hour downstairs.

Walking distance to the Opera House and the city. Great customer service. Room was clean, big bathroom. Really liked their selection of the buffet breakfast which was included in a room price. Free mini bar, refilled everyday and a sweets bag on arrival. Lifts are too slow.

We stayed there for a weekend and it was fantastic! First of all, this place has excellent vibe, was very unique and the service was friendly and courteous. The cleaners left small chocolates on the bed everytime they visited, it was really sweet as well. I guess it can be tricky for people who don't walk to long distant to the CBD since they don't seem to have a train station near by, or bus. (Correct me If I'm wrong. ) Also, we stayed at a Loft suite room, there were 2 toilets and both were quite small. We didn't mind since it was enough for 2 people anyway.

The room shown in the photo seems very badly decorated and small. What's that stuff on the ceiling? Looks like there's barely room to walk around the bed. And Tony Potaka, could we please get a reply as to why you did not assist Kath Hall in the previous review who apparently you refused to help in light of her room being canceled by mistake.

Disappointed! We recently booked to stay at Blue Sydney for a special weekend away. We arrived at the hotel lunch time Sat to find that our room had mistakenly been cancelled by the online travel agent we had booked through. The manager Tony Potaka could NOT HAVE BEEN RUDER. He was only interested in emphasing that it was not his hotel's fault that the booking had been cancelled and that he was not responsible. He failed to appreciate we were very disappointed, tired and had no where to stay. He said his hotel was full and rather than try ANYTHING to assist us just waited for us to leave. It was devastating! We had chosen this hotel for its style, service and quality. Instead of saying "Sorry" or "Can we get you a drink while we look into other hotels for you" or call around for us — he showed no understanding of the situation and waited for us to leave. It was embarrassing for us and for the other guests standing nearby. Needless to say we will never stay at this hotel again and encourage others not to do so.
