Loved it! I remember The Vulcan from the early 80s when it was a grungy rock&roll venue. It's now a clean and contemporary inner city hotel with exceptional service and a great vibe. My room was a top floor oversize room. Handy to the CBD and hip suburbs like Glebe and Newtown. A better than serviceable menu, good coffee and friendly staff. What more do you need?!

Stayed here for 5 nights while attending a conference at the campus of the University of Sydney. Rooms are comfortable; good beds and a nice desk for doing a bit of work. Breakfast (not included) is good. And most importantly, the staff is really friendly and helpful.

Great location. Great service I just wish the girl had some help. Considering she was alone she was nailing it. Keeping mind I arrived late on a Tuesday. Really nice room. And comfy bed.

About 35 minutes walk to CBD, friendly staff and reasonably clean for a 3 star place. There are also a few nice takeaway and restaurants around to grab a bite and there is cooked breakfast available in the morning. Free Wi-Fi is provided and speed is ok.

Just a lovely place. Clean welcoming and staff who were genuinely friendly and helpful. Oh and the home made museli with fruit and yoghurt for breakfast was so nice.

I ordered "Breakfast Bruschetta", it was wonderful. (vine Tomato, Avocado, Feta, Balsamic glaze & poached eggs)

Been coming here nearly every 2 weeks for almost 3 years now. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too hard for them. They always have a smile on thier face. I think I have stayed in pretty much every room in this place, and while some are quite small (Shoebox Room), they are always clean. I have my 2 favourite rooms that the staff try and put me into if possible which is always nice. If you visit, be sure to try the cheese pizza Rose makes herself. With the blue cheese on it, it is awesome!

Comfortable rooms, could be considered a little too cosy in the standard rooms so opt for a larger room if you're staying for more than a couple of days. Otherwise, good coffee downstairs and a nice internal courtyard.

Good location if you want to be within 15 minutes walk to Darling harbour. Rooms are smallish but perfectly clean. Starting to look a bit dated in places with old air con units, but as mentioned still fine. Staff are really friendly and happy to help with anything.

I actually really liked this place for the price, 200 for the weekend is expensive but on the weekdays it's about 100 a day and that's very good in my opinion. I was up from Melbourne for work and my work is night time so I am a night shift worker. After a very very long night working I finally get into my bed and I hear drilling into my wall. I hear tradesmen swearing and chatting a loudly to each other. I called to complain after 20 minutes of torture and they said it will all be over in 10 more minutes and sorry for any inconvenience. I wasn't able to sleep because I was so upset with how they treated the situation Nd I had a large headache. I understand renovations need to be made, but not everyone is out and about during the day. There was no pre warning, or opinion to stay on a floor where the noise wouldn't be as loud. Everything else was fantastic. It would have been nice if they offered a complimentary bottle of wine, or offered to move my room, or free breakfast.? Just so I felt treated like an actual guest.

Hard beds, hopeless air-con and we found long hairs all over the newly made sheets as we settled in. Something was rattling in the room above ours all night. No free mini-bar, so best not to touch the fridge or the snacks placed near the television — the staff don't tell you it's not free food, and will secretly put charges on your credit card after you leave, despite the hefty price tag to stay one night. Also, the staff don't speak clearly, mumbling when you try to get information. The diner downstairs is best avoided, because there was a hair in my friend's breakfast.

I stayed in two different rooms that I booked separately. The first room was a bit larger and more expensive then the other. I didn't ever eat breakfast there. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were comfortable. Employees were nice and helpful. I wouldn't have any problems staying there again.

We stayed overnight. It was clean and quiet. Beds were soft and linen clean. Staff were very nice. Parking is close by and costs an extra 20aud per day. Location is pretty good, close to fish market and darling Harbour.

Overpriced for what you get eventhough it is in good location.

Decent room for a good rate. Minor maintenance issues with some of the fittings, but room was clean and bed was fine.

The staff were friendly, the room was small, but not so bad. My only complaint is the aircon only seems to blow out warm air. Aside from that, it's a decent room to stay in if you're in need of a place to stay on a budget.

My stay at the Vulcan Hotel from the 21st to the 23rd March 2016 was to a very high standard. I found my double room suitable and very clean. The hotel was well priced and in a good location in Ultimo, Sydney; walking distance to shops, food and transport. Of note, I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and the café at the Vulcan is good for breakfast. I enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is great. The service is efficient and friendly and they go out of their way to make things easy. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The room service is pricey but not out of step with the rest of Sydney's pricing, so don't expect to find things cheaper elsewhere. The location is convenient to the city, not far from Darling Harbour but there is a bit of a hill.

A living small cockroach was found in the bathroom when we checked in and some hair was found on the floor in the bathroom We reported to the reception and then someone came and cleaned it for us And the manger arranged another room for us next day The location is okay Just 10mins walk to the central station and 20mins walk to darling harbour and fish market (a straight road) The room is quite small for double twin bedroom And the room has strange smell.

DO NOT STAY HERE — FALSE ADVERTISING and TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I booked a Queen room only to find a hard, uncomfortable double size bed in there. As I arrived late I didn't get a chance to ask the question on arrival. I asked what size the bed was in the morning they said a queen, however I didn't believe it. When I arrived home I sent a number of emails (as they didn't respond to previous ones) and finally they confirmed it was infact a double. I asked for a refund as this was false advertising and I would have never stayed there if I knew this, they ignored my email. To top this off, we also got evacuated in the middle of the night as the smoke alarm went off due to a computer that blew up — it stunk like electrical fumes. All in all it was a horrible experience and I recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Arrived here from Indonesia 6 days ago. The hotel have nice people here, great service and comfy place.

Just arriving from France, The vulcan hotel is a very great place to stay, confortable, not so expensive with a very warm welcome. Not far away from the CBD, you have access to everything. The room are clean, spacious and brand new. Once again a great staff and a great place to feel a little bit like home.

My family have holidayed at this hotel and they found it comfortable and convenient. It is expensive but it is good quality and good service. For a hotel right on broadway which is a noisy, busy road, this hotel was quite quiet. Very close to shops and the city it is easy to access most of sydney's sights from here. Also close to chinatown and good asian restaurants.

Great value. Clean, quiet rooms and a good location. Would recommend to anyone.
