Arrival and check was good, staff were friendly and helpful. When we got to our room we noted that there was no kettle to make a cup of tea. As we were heading out we decided to ask for one on our return. We returned to our room and contacted reception asking for a kettle. I was questioned if I had checked everywhere, which I had. Half an hour later still no kettle so I call reception again. Sorry Sir I will remind them. 15 minutes later a kettle arrives (this is at midnight). Next morning we have breakfast, which was enjoyable. Again the staff there were good. At 11.15 I receive a call from reception asking me if I need help checking out. Not sure if I understand what you mean. Your checkout is at 11am and it is now 11.15. I advise that I am a Priority Rewards Guest and have requested a 1pm checkout when we checked in. Sorry but it is not noted anywhere on your check-in. I advise I was asked if I wanted this on check-in, which I did. Sorry for the mix up. A bit about the room. Large section of mould in the corner near the door, dirty marks throughout and hair clips on the floor from the previous guest. The curtains are so old that you can see holes through the backing material. The couch is pushed up against the wall so you can't close the curtains properly. The curtains are hanging off at the ends. Not sure if the air conditioning was working, the room didn't appear to warm up at all and it was quite noisy. The bathroom door doesn't close properly either. There needs to be more than just one set of towels (ladies quite often require one to dry and one for their hair). In general the hotel appeared old and run down. Room service items at a neighbouring room were there when we arrived and were still there the next day at our departure. There was litter in the halls. Overall a very disappointing experience, especially in comparison to other Rydges we have stayed at.
