Room has good space and bathroom is clean. The location is perfect for exploring the Surry Hills area and not that far from the city centre but far enough to be away from all the hustle and bustle. Pretty close to chinatown as well so you'll get to explore a few areas when staying here. I would suggest skipping the breakfast here and just find a good local coffee shop around the corner. There's plenty of pub that offers daily specials everyday with specialty craft beers. The only thing I didn't like was the perfume they use in the lobby which was suffocating as it was too strong and quite difficult to breathe while checking in.

We had an amazing experience with the staff here. We checked in and the man at the desk asked what our plans were and I told him it was my partners birthday. We went up to our room, then headed back out. Hours later we returned and found a tray of chocolate covered strawberries and a personal, hand written birthday card from the staff. It was such an unexpected gesture and it made us really happy. We later ordered dinner from a local pizza place to be delivered. We got a call from the front desk saying “we have a food delivery here for you. Is it okay if we send them up to your room? ” We’ve never had a hotel check that with us. They were taking an extra step to ensure guest safety. This was our first time here but will be our new go-to hotel. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so great!

We spent our wadding night in the hotel and it was perfect. First thing they upgrade our room and then brought us a dessert with a handwritten congratulations card. The staff was very nice and kind. The hotel is clean and beautiful. Thank you, Rydges.

I have had two very pleasant stays at Surry Hills Rydges for work in the last two weeks. Staff are extremely helpful and responsive, facilities excellent. It's just a couple of minutes walk from Central Station after catching the airport train. Great buffet breakfast. Had a swim in the pool. Highlight for me is the staff's attitude; cheerful, genuine and nothing was a problem for them.

Staying at hotel during holiday. Lovely rooms and friendly staff. Cant comment on food as didn't eat in restaurant. Walking distance to the sights so great location. Only minor quibble is that there is no bath. Just a shower. But that's just us being very brittish.

Great hotel with warm and modern rooms The beds are comfortable, in room Wi-Fi is quick and the shower is hot and with good pressure. The pool and spa are combined and is great temperature. Would definitely recommend to stay here. Sign up to their rewards program for really good deals on room, food and drinks.

I enjoyed our stay here, the rooms were clean and stylish. Great art. Good gym. I didn't get to see the pool but it looked great in the pictures. Fantastic location we walked into the city. We had breakfast at a cafe next door absolutely fabulous! And dinner at the bar next door, pizza very nice.

Pros: Room size is good, staff friendly, good location Cons: Air conditioning isn't cooling the room and we can't get any sleep. Beds are far too soft (unsupportive) and pillows are ordinary. First night of 2 night stay, reception were notified of air conditioning issue but no rooms to move us to. We were moved to a different room for the second night after maintenance came and their visit made no difference to the air conditioning. Second room was bigger and had a stand alone AC unit. Main HVAC still wasn't cold, but the standalone unit made up for it.

My family stayed here when they were on holiday. The rooms are big and really comfy. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We loved the food in the bar on the corner and the bar staff were friendly.

At check in, the staff talk too fast and too quiet. He must have done it million times and wanted to get it done but it was my first time at Sydney Central and not familiar with the hotel. It could have been done bit more slowly and louder voice given the noise level at Check in area. Restaurant was not open for Dinner? I expected Rydges to be able to offer a meal on site.

Staff were pleasant and courteous, they helped me locate the wine glasses, although if a simple stick on sign will placed on the pull out draw, this will save the inconvenience to the staff. The bed was perfect, not to hard and the pillows spot on. My fridge was noisy so I switched it off at night. Great sauna and pool. Great location although the street was fairly dark at night, additional lights would provide a sense of security.

The amazing staff were lovely, my room was clean and tidy. Had one issue with the mini bar but it was immediately looked into once I notified staff. I highly recommend this hotel and will be using it again.

The reception staff are excellent. The trim of the room could have been better, but with a high guest turn over it's hard to get everything. Was well located with everything nearby. And the breakfast service was also excellent.

Good hotel in great location close to Crown street with many restaurants and close by you'll have the Central station which gets you connected to the train service. The staff was very friendly and helpful whenever I've asked something or had a request. The rooms are nicely decorated — the bed is comfortable. Unfortunately the windows aren't comparable to European standard blocking the noise of the street but maybe it's only me being sensitive to noise. Other than that a good hotel to stay in.

It was a completely amazing experience. The staff were very professional and polite; and their pleasant demeanor set a relaxed atmosphere before we even made it to the suite. The room was well made up, very polished and incredibly spacious for such a cheap rate.

Rydges Surry Hills is a very convenient location to stay in Sydney, close to Markets, Chinatown and a short walk to Darling Harbour. And it's only about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the city. There are a large number of great restaurants in the area, especially in Crown Street, offering a huge range of cuisines to choose from. There are also a few outlet shops a block away in Foveaux Street and lots of pubs and bars to enjoy a drink or a meal. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and always happy to help if you need assistance. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable.

I think I paid extra due to some seasonal hikes (all hotels in central became more expensive at that time) so maybe you wanna watch the prices a little while It was a short stay so I didnt access the spa and pools. What I really liked was the room. Large and comfy. Rather than just being clean, this hotel has modern (looks new and well maintained too) interior which I really liked.

It's just. Whelming. It's fine, but there's nothing special or good about it. Advertised robes were not in the room, room service was slow, quality of food was average. But the price is reasonable for all of that. If you're looking for a decent execution of the hotel experience from 20 years ago, Rydges is it.

Everyone was nice and very helpful. The pool was really cool. Our room was comfortable. The central train station was a short walk away (though doesn't feel very short if you are carrying lots of luggage. We also had a late evening flight, and they held our luggage for us after we checked out. I'd definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in Sydney.

Ideal location near the central station. Good for the airport and for the city. Comfortable and comfortable room.

Room was decently big. Service was great. Staff was friendly. Loved the bathroom, especially the shower head, but would be nice to have a door for the shower cause the water spilled out to the other parts of the bathroom. Other than that, it was great and affordable.

Very comfy and clean room with an excellent bed. Really helpful and friendly staff. Construction on site meant that our view was of scaffolding, and the corridor outside our room was very noisy. Otherwise great. Location is great, awesome food and coffee within short walks throughout Surry Hills.

Overall our stay at Rydges was as expected for the brand and price of the hotel. There were a few bad points however nothing that would effect my overall opinion of the hotel. The hotel is located well within walking distance of Central, some cafes and is on the same block as a 7-11 so this is highly convenient for any type of traveler. The hotels staff were really friendly during check in and check out and for booking anything we needed. The newly renovated rooms and bathrooms are really nice and well sized, my only issue would be the sofa bed, as if you have to use it its pretty uncomfortable to sleep in. However everything else including the TV, Bathroom and other Beds I also got to try out the pool while there, its a really nice indoor pool with a cool moon roof that is open until 10pm. There was also an occurrence during our visit where both main elevators seemed to be stuck and we had to use the less used alternate elevators, we were not sure if this was a mechanical issue or something due to the time as this was late at night.

Great place to stay or meet for dinner and drinks. Perfect location — close to the CBD with lots of public transport options nearby. Would definitely recommend!

Came here for a wedding function. Wasn't disappointed. Set up was lovely, staff was extremely attentive and polite, all requests was fulfilled without hesitation and foods were pretty yummy too! Thank you for a great experience ✌

Rydges Sydney Central is an ideal hotel to stay at for a visit to the city. Walking distance to Darling Harbour and all it has to offer, close to Central Station for easy access from the airport and and short stroll to the Capitol Theatre. Staff were friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them to ensure we were comfortable and any needs were met. Our room was brilliant! Spacious, comfortable, well appointed and quiet, considering the busy streets and railway line nearby. The dining area is lovely, with plenty of room for many guests. We booked breakfast and the range of options was extensive and everything was perfectly cooked and presented. We will definitely stay at Rydges Sydney Central again.

Good accessibility, just a five minute walk to a large train station. Rooms are clean and tidy. Free Wi-Fi. Only con was that it is under construction during our stay.

Great location and easy to find carpark. Spacious rooms and very comfy beds. Clean rooms, toilets and lots of free power sockets. Very new and well-equipped gym. Staff are super friendly and helpful via phone and in person. Decent brekky.

Service was excellent. The beds are an absolute dream! Room service food quality was not very good, considering the prices charged. Breakfast buffet. Loved it. Underground parking is secure, but not good if you have a bigger car, as the carpark is very tight and has no signs what so ever … getting in and out is a bit of a guessing game. All in all — it was a good stay… just stay away from the overpriced room service food ;)

Clean, comfortable rooms in great location. Very nice bathroom! All of the rooms have been renovated over the last couple of years, however there are a few wear and tear marks on the walls and carpet. There is a small fitness center and pool at the hotel for convenience. The breakfast buffet is limited on food options but the quality of the food that is there is good. Hotel close to Central station and light rail. Also Chinatown, Capitol Theatre and Paddy's Market nearby.

I stayed four nights as a single guest. I arrived to my room and it was just as large as the ones featured on the internet (this is often not the case as hotels photograph only their best rooms) The bed was soft and comfortable. The room was out the back and quiet and was able to be totally darkened. (these are all good features for me as I work night shifts and sleeping is always an issue). I had no trouble at Rydges. I hired a car through the hotel using the concierge, on the Sunday and that went smoothly. I had 2 breakfasts and they were adequate, comprehensive food choices, but not fancy (and no fancy price either). My room was clean and all the staff were not only courteous and professional, but also HAPPY. I will stay at Rydges Central again. The location is also perfect for my needs in Sydney.

Arrival and check was good, staff were friendly and helpful. When we got to our room we noted that there was no kettle to make a cup of tea. As we were heading out we decided to ask for one on our return. We returned to our room and contacted reception asking for a kettle. I was questioned if I had checked everywhere, which I had. Half an hour later still no kettle so I call reception again. Sorry Sir I will remind them. 15 minutes later a kettle arrives (this is at midnight). Next morning we have breakfast, which was enjoyable. Again the staff there were good. At 11.15 I receive a call from reception asking me if I need help checking out. Not sure if I understand what you mean. Your checkout is at 11am and it is now 11.15. I advise that I am a Priority Rewards Guest and have requested a 1pm checkout when we checked in. Sorry but it is not noted anywhere on your check-in. I advise I was asked if I wanted this on check-in, which I did. Sorry for the mix up. A bit about the room. Large section of mould in the corner near the door, dirty marks throughout and hair clips on the floor from the previous guest. The curtains are so old that you can see holes through the backing material. The couch is pushed up against the wall so you can't close the curtains properly. The curtains are hanging off at the ends. Not sure if the air conditioning was working, the room didn't appear to warm up at all and it was quite noisy. The bathroom door doesn't close properly either.

Spacious rooms restaurant and bar. Breakfast area is sometimes a bit crowded. Consequence of being popular.

Very good location, right next to central station. Room was very spacious. A little noisy as being next to the main road. Very nice bar/restaurant with good food and reasonably priced drinks. Good breakfast.

Centrally located, that's really the only plus to staying at Rydges Central. Staff oscillated between very friendly and slightly disinterested and everything felt tired, like it's 6 months away from refurbishment. My room on the 2nd floor clearly needs some double glazed windows to help with the traffic noise, the carpet had holes in it and I awoke to more than one cockroach scurrying from the lights (ugghh). I didn't get to use many facilities as I was here for a conference. I was disturbed to finish a number of poor, bored and stressed fish swimming around to floor aquarium in the foyer. Really, if you aren't providing them a good environment, you shouldn't have them. 3 stars but really nothing more.

As hotels go, it's a bit dull and businessy, but the bed was comfortable and the room was very large and spotlessly clean. The location was great for being close to meetings I had, and it was good value. I'll certainly be back if I need to stay the night again.

My wife and I arrived on a Monday and stayed for 6 nights. Overall, we had a great stay from check-in in to check-out On Monday night though there was some sort of road works in front of the hotel making noise from midnight till 5am. We were on the 8th floor and this kept me up. Come Saturday night, there was again some noise making it hard to sleep. This one I couldn't pinpoint the source, I think it was in fact inside the hotel. Aircon or something else, but we only noticed it on 6th night and while it went into the AM we did manage to fall asleep after some time. So my first suggestion would some sound proofing on the rooms and the windows particularly, this shouldn't be an issue on the 8th floor. Second, we did enjoy the pool most nights. It was clean and bairly used by other guests — a big plus if you ask me. On the downside, no patrons means the Sauna and the Spa aren't kept warm. You can press a button to start it, but it takes more than an hour to warm up. So pool yay, sauna and spa not really useful if not kept warm. These aren't huge issues, so overall this is a really good 4 star hotel. And the price was right, we paid only 5 dollars a night more than we did for the shoebox rooms and zero amenities we got two nights before from Central Station hotel a few meters up the street. 4 stars.

I had my wedding reception at Rydes Central last Saturday and the Rydges went well beyond my expectations. The staff & waiters were very attentive and made sure we were well looked after. They were ready at the door to greet us as we arrived, we were never unsure of what was going on because they were there to help us every minute of the night. L The room we stayed in (Room 10-23) was great, the night was absolutely stress free.

This hotel is located a very short walk from Central Station. You are only a very quick hop away from the main attractions of Sydney by train, light rail or bus. Also located near a good dining precinct with takeaway options close by too, there is a 7/11 two doors down, and a laundromat around the corner. We found that the air conditioning in our bedroom was a little odd — it seemed cooler, with better airflow, in the afternoon than it did overnight, although it was set to 24 degrees. But this is the only complaint about our room. The huge bed was very comfortable, and the windows had blackout curtains. Always a plus for us to allow for a better sleep after days of walking. I loved the bathroom — the tiles were great, made of some substance that didn't allow any slipping at all, and the shower had a really clever design. Hotel staff were always attentive and friendly, whether we needed to approach them with a question, or passed them in a hallway/lift. The pool and spa was easy to access, and the feature of towels stored next to the pool is very handy. Chlorine levels in the pool seemed off the charts! Put my head under once, but hastily took it out!

I along with my daughter stayed in Rydges Sydney Central between Feb 2 — Feb 8 and I must say we had a very comfortable stay there. What I liked the most was the morning free buffet breakfast which was having many items on the menu that suited my vegetarian habits. The location of the hotel is at the center of the CBD and hence very close to the Darling Harbor and the Sydney Central Railway Station. Although major tourist operators do not come to pick you up at Rydges, their rendezvous — YHA Central — is only 7 minutes walk from the hotel. Great location, comfortable and economic stay!

After staying at this property when it was The Sebel its been a pleasant surprise seeing the higher levels of service and decor that have been introduced. At first glance not much has changed but it's the little things that count such as more attentive, friendlier staff, better linen and bathroom cosmetics, free Wi-Fi and a better movie selection all add up to a superior experience than before. The breakfast has also improved with a better selection including some Asian options.

The hotel is very well located a few minutes walk from Central Station. We had a spacious, comfortable room. Hotel staff were cheerful and obliging. We will use this hotel again for sure.

Grate place to stay. Cheap, nice staff, has pool, spa, and gym. Nice rooms. Near a lot of restaurants bars and clubs including the gay ones.

After the initial hitch where we arrived early after booing 11am check in to be told our room would be ready at 2pm everything else was good. A member of staff (whom I assume was a manager or supervisor) managed to get us a room straight away (just before 11am) and when we asked how much a late check out would be another lady on reception said we could check out an hour later at no extra cost. We ate at the bar next to the hotel which was part of the hotel and the food was very nice, not the nicest of bars/restaurants and a bit loud considering it was not very busy. The breakfast in the hotel the following morning was NOT the same as photos on the website so I was disappointed as the hotel offered other options to the buffet but it was still nice food just very priced and not what I expected. Again the staff were very accommodating. Room was a nice size even though we were told it was a small room to get us checked in early and I loved the pillows!

We just love your hotel. We appreciate being put into the same room (our favourite). We received excellent customer service from everyone at the hotel. Breakfast is delicious as always. We will always stay here when we are in Sydney.

I attended a seminar here and found the facilities very high quality. The staff were very quick and managed to reshuffle the large function area into two separate ones extremely quickly. Seating, sound and lighting were all very high standard. The catering for morning tea was excellent and the buffet lunch at the nearby function room was extremely impressive. At the lunch, however, the chairs were arranged extremely cramped and it was quick difficult to navigate there from the function rooms. Still, I would certainly recommended it to any small-medium event organisers.

The location is great, right next to Central station and just down the hill from the main Surry Hills strip. Room was clean and neat, very comfy bed! Was only there for one night, so not much to say about the service, but the lady who checked us out was very cheerful and friendly. If you're looking for a central place to stay in Sydney, Rydges is a good option.

Great hotel right near Central train station. Albies restaurant serves up very high quality food and little things like the indoor pool make it a great place to stay.

Everything was really great. The only disappointing part was the breakfast. Expensive for what was offered. The fruit wasn't tasty, and the coffee machine wasn't functional while we were there. Other than that, everything else was superb. Hotel was clean, pool and spa were well looked after, staff were friendly and professional. Thank you!

I've stayed with a few rydges and it always has a certain standard that is met. The only issue I had was the breakfast buffet we decided to try was disgraceful 30 dollars each for breakfast that want there. It wasn't very busy but there was no hot food on the buffet. No bacon. No eggs. Tomato's and hash browns that were cold Took over 40 minutes for fresh hot food to come out and by then I'd already had a continental breakfast but was charged for more The manager was extremely rude and failed to keep other guests in line as they were just pushing past to get in Not really up to rydges standard especially for a inner city hotel.

I chose the hotel because of the location and as I'm a member of the Rydges Priority Rewards Club. The room was a good size and clean though getting a little dated and worn. The black out blinds were a blessing. The bathroom tiles could probably get a good spring clean and the shower head tightened but it was satisfactory overall. Staff were helpful and the bottle of bubbles sent to our room for our anniversary was very much appreciated. The breakfast food quality was good however the staff seemed very much undermanned and struggled to keep the area clean and the tables laid. They were quick to assist when necessary. Overall a good stay, not a luxury break, however the Sydney prices reflected that. We would return.

My 2nd time staying in this hotel in the last 3 months and still as disappointing. 1st time was that the housekeeping didn't do a good job cleaning the room and this time they bring it up a notch. I found a couple of bed bugs crawling around the bed. I hope the management is reading this and doing something about it soon.

Wonderful experience. Great central location with easy access. Clean room, quiet. The staff were the standout though! Demi especially made our stay memorable from her friendly help from the get go. Couldn't ask for more and look forward to returning again soon.

Absolute dive. This was a decent hotel with great staff and dining a few years back when it was the Sebel Surry Hills. Went downhill with Accor and now much worse again with Rydges. Rooms are ordinary，the food is terrible and the staff are generally both humourless and hopeless. Ever heard of getting checked in to a room only to find someone in the room when you open the door? Already occupied? Who does that?

By agreeing to host a 2015 anti-vaccine tour of Australia, the Rydges Hotels chain is directly profiteering from the spread of false claims about vaccines, likely resulting in misery, and in extreme cases easily preventable death, of infants and children. Such misinformation is a clear menace to public health and safety, and in my opinion those benefiting from it are no better than those evangelising it. As such I will be avoiding the venue in future travels and suggest you consider doing the same (unless and until they reverse their stance).

Dirty room, smelt terrible, dark, no natural light. Room phone didn't work either, so couldn't call reception to complain. Was exhausted from travelling, so decided to stick it out in the room allocated. Wish I had have complained. I recently stayed in a hotel in Melb for less than half the price, and the quality was far superior. In summary, this hotel is not value for money. Travel for business, and won't be staying here again.

Good position on the outskirts of the city with some 2 hour parking on the street. The hotel entrance has a cold feeling although concierge staff are friendly. The rooms have a terrible lemon spray which goes off every time you walk into the room. The room I had was a more expensive suite which had a big hole on the side of the couch and the chair in front of the desk was full of dust. The service of the room was done in 10 seconds with the bed sheets not even tucked in or room vacumed. Definitely overpriced for the comfort standard of the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location. Close to the train station and a nice walk to the city centre. Hotel staff were fantastic, I dealt with Poppy at the front desk who was extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

I stay regularly and the rooms are always fantastic, clean spacious and well appointed. Staff are friendly and helpful creating a great atmosphere. Handy that it is convenient to where I need to be but may not necessarily be the case for all. Ensure you pick up a rewards card as cheaper meals and free drink is always nice when you are in a rush.

When we first arrived in our room, I started to have allergic reactions, irritated; nose, throat and mouth, at first I thought it was because of the amount of dust on the carpet, it looked like had never had a good vacuum, very disappointing, however it felt like more than that. I phoned reception to enquire as to whether it was woolen carpet as I am severely allergic to wool? Reception advised me that all the floors of the hotel had woolen carpet. I proceeded to take anti-histamine for the rest of my stay for both the dust and the woolen carpet (at no time did anyone offer to have the room thoroughly cleaned, this would have made the stay at least a little more pleasant). During our stay house keeping knocked at the door and said "house keeping" while opening the door. I called out and asked them to wait, however, they did not and walked in on me half naked, I reported this matter to reception. The manager called soon after and offered a free breakfast for my partner and I before departure, he apologised for the carpet issue, but again never offered to have it cleaned. The room was an utter disappointment, very shabby and worn, not near the 4.5 stars the hotel claims to be. The bathroom even had screws jutting out of the back of the door (a very dodgy repair), the carpet had balls of fluff accumulated behind the doors and along the skirtings, and around the base of the bed was putrid. The bathroom tiles were not very clean, especially in any corner of the room.

Have stayed here a few time and recommended to many clients who have provided consistently good feedback. This is a very good Sydney conference hotel in a convenient location, close to central station so its easy to get to for local delegates and easy to get to from the airport via Airport Link trains, also close to some of Sydney's best restaurants and cafes, and an easy walk into city centre. Sebel Surry Hills has a selection of conference rooms with natural light and plenty of space for larger conferences. Prices here are very attractive — an excellent option if you need an impressive professional venue in Sydney at a reasonable price.
