Not Happy, staff not smiling or informative. Room and bathroom in bad need of repair. Very noisy from room next door. Food is good.

Cheap, Clean and Cheerful… The hotel feels tired and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast options are great and the bar is a nice place to chill out at. Staff super friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, a truly terrible experience. My wife, daughter and I "upgraded" to a single room suite. The suite had no ceiling lighting, black mold, the blankets smelled and the chattels were incredibly tired and run down. Room service was no better. After voicing our concerns we were moved into a larger 2 bedroom suite. It was OK, however, the balcony door was jammed, no ventilation in the bathroom and upon opening the microwave I was met with a black hair. After complaining again on checkout we were refunded the cost of our "upgrade" but the overall experience left a bad impression. It was without a doubt the worst experience I have had staying at a hotel. I am astonished it wears the Rydges brand.

Check in was pleasant with a very pleasant and informative staff member on the front desk. Room was tidy and ready for us. The only issue we had was the complimentary bottle of wine took 45 minutes to be delivered due to limited room service staff.

This place smells funny. The staff are delightful but the bar is dimly lit — so dimly lit that I can’t see the colour of my food. This place is appropriate if you’re into funny smells, beds that aren’t flat and seedy, seedy bars. The ceiling in the bathroom looks like asbestos cement sheet and the rail that holds the curtain is a bit bent. The bath tap has been pulled just a little bit away from the wall and the TV still has that analogue fuzz and I can’t work out how to tune it. But I don’t suppose people come to seedy hotels to watch TV…

We were so pleased to return to the Rydges North Sydney and find the good things were still good and that the lifts were in full flight. Our greeting and check in were good. The room was as comfortable as ever, including the extremely comfortable bed. The pricing of our package reflected great value with breakfast and parking included. While not the most modern of hotels, the comfort level and inclusions in the room are more than adequate and reflect value. The rooms are quiet, with great blackout curtains. The do not disturb sign was respected. The location is very good, very close to North Sydney Oval, buses and not too far from the train station. The checkout was quick and friendly and we will look forward to returning.

Great central location. But the window wasn't sealed so the room was very noisy with the wind. When I mentioned it they were very concerned and said they would get on it right away.

We liked the 1br unit — it was a good price for the size of it. But the tiles were chipped on entry to the bathroom and the balcony door was almost jammed and the kitchenette was a bit lame. The lady at reception said she'd contact maintenance to get it sorted, which I thought was good. The bed was really soft, too. WAY too soft! A bed as firm as you can manage is a good rule of thumb. And let's just say that the couch was more comfortable! Otherwise, it wasn't too loud, it was a comfortable enough stay, there was plenty of hot water, no mould, and the restaurant catered to our dairy & gluten free request.

I stayed at this property in the early 90’s as a kid, the place is no different. The site is sitting next to a major construction, I assume 54 McLaren St will be next given the very poor state of the hotel. And finally the hotel was evacuated at 12:30 Saturday morning due to a fire alarm. No explanation other than a ‘false alarm’ and no apology. Avoid at all costs or await the rebuild.

Very happy with my stay here at the Rydges, check-in was super easy and was greated by wonderful staff. As I checked in I was informed my package included parking and breakfast I didn't know about which was great when I found out. The rooms was just right and the beds was super comfy not to mention the view on the 10th floor was amazing even for the park view I had. Had breakfast before check out and it was great a big selection of hot and cold food pastries, fruit etc. Will be back again really soon.

Stayed 12/2 — 15/2. On arrival welcomed by a friendly young lady upgraded us for no charge. The room was spotless the breakfasts were outstanding. All staff we encountered were polite and very helpful. Tried calling you no answer had tea at the restaurant one night we both ordered the steak and found them very tender.

Some rooms have nice views. Parking is ok on weekends. Beds are comfy. Better value than most places around the area.

Had quite a few maintenance issues with our 2-bed apartment, and was moved into 2 separate rooms. Construction taking place next door (February 2018). Good views, and good breakfast.

We were upgraded for free, which was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was quite disappointing to see how run down the place is. It is certainly due for major renovations… I have stayed at other Rydges Hotels, this by far is outdated beyond description and certainly did not offer the "Rydges feel" besides the great customer service. The buffet breakfast was pretty good with plenty on offer, however, the area was quite small and limited in tables too, which we had to wait for a table, along with four other couples & families — something needs to be done here, other than that our overall experience was good.

Clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staffs, very good buffet breakfast and free parking. The restaurant is not well for having lunch or dinner. You can reach the beach in 20 minuets walk.

Typical hotel, a little out of date, but decent and reasonably priced. I was very impressed with the choice in soaps and shampoo etc, very good quality. I found the room quiet and comfortable and had a decent nights sleep. Wi-Fi is ok, a little flaky at times (which is sadly consistent with most hotels I frequent). I was very impressed with the desk which has every sort of connection to the TV, allowing guests to display their own tablet / laptop onto the TV. Breakfast was a little below average, it did what it needed to do, but nothing beyond that.

Good location. Comfortable rooms. Great service and inclusions. Restaurant and bar also great. Hotel has all the creature comforts for a relaxing getaway or business accommodation.

Showing a few signs of age here, a/c dead if first room, had to relocate, v noisy in next. Staff fairly attentive, though had to wait nearly 10 minutes for service in the bar at one point. Wouldn't recommend for holiday travel, it's OK if you're in North Sydney on business.

Long wait for lifts in mornings. We had four registered guests for rooms but only two sets of glasses etc provided. Needed to request extra blankets too.

The rooms are getting old need an update. The breakfast was ok. But didn't have enough seating to sit down. Once I found a table to sit down the chairs were dirty. One of my workmate who travelled with me stayed in room 801 and the air conditioner was very loud he couldn't sleep properly. The only positive was the staff. They were very friendly and helpfull.

ROOM SERVICE STOLE MONEY! By far the worst place we have ever stayed at! My wife and I arrived here from Brisbane for a Wedding and managed to get an early check-in, after unpacking we sat down to write a congratulatory letter for the soon to be Married couple and with that put a monetary ($300) gift in with the card. We left the card on the table and decided to go for a walk to see what shops and bars were near by only to come back (2 hours later) and realise that our monetary gift of $300 was gone! To cut a long story short I got in contact with management and after a not so thorough biased investigation they told me "after checking the swipe card record to your room there was only one entry from one of our staff which he was here to top up your mini bar while you were gone!? he has been with us for 10 years" We had just checked in 4 hours prior that day! so there was absolutely no reason to enter our room for ANYTHING! I only hope that someone reads this review to be more cautious with their valuables while away, other then that "good luck" when staying here as I don't trust this place at all!

Celebrating my husbands 50th on the weekend, we spent the accommodation at the hotel on the 11th floor. The view from our room was awesome, the bed was an absolute dream and the staff were very friendly and courteous. A bottle of wine was delivered to our room which was a very nice gesture… The whole room was very spacious and clean. I am very certain we will be back for another stay.

Cheap, provided parking was scarcely adequate and room was a little bit run down but like I said value for money so would recommend for a base camp.

Lovely, affordable last minute accomodation, conveniently located, with friendly helpful staff. I will definitely return soon.

Dated and far from the train station. Amenities are sufficient. Staff are ok. Overall function was ok.

Awesome Customer service experience. Friendly staff and accessible location. Clean and tidy home away from home. They also have a green program that gives you $10 off food and beverages per night for choosing not to use the cleaning service.

Location is excellent — nice view of the outer harbour from my room. Staff are friendly, accommodating and professional. Rooms are nice; recently renovated but carpet still a bit dated! Was here for business and it's a better business location than for tourists, but I'd stay again.

Nice rooms. 2 bedroom unit good for children. Shame restaurant not open Friday and Saturday nights. But bar menu is. Close to pubs and shops.

Positives: The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect for the traveller or business person seeking proximity to North Sydney. If you also want access to the Sydney CBD you have the choice of either walking over the Sydney Harbour Bridge (just gorgeous) or catching a train from North Sydney Station, which is a short stroll away. Negatives: * When we entered the room we noticed that the linen on one of our beds was stained. I contacted housekeeping and they attended to this issue promptly and efficiently. * The walls were quite thin and the people in the adjacent room woke us early the following morning. * The bathroom was very tired and in need of a full renovation. If you are looking for a hotel in a great location then this is it BUT if you enjoy a little luxury then keep looking…

I stayed whilst on business, the staff were super friendly and the room comfortable. Unfortunately I was ill equipped for the weather and it took me half the night to work out how to increase the temperature on the rooms air conditioner and I was disappointed that there was no available blanket in the room so I was very cold for a while. Still I managed and my stay was very comfortable.

Clearly the hotel is ageing but it the room was pleasant, clean and comfortable. The bathroom sink tap was not attached properly and the vent at the bottom of the exterior of the bath was broken but we weren't expecting the Ritz. The view was good. Given the lift from the carpark wasn't working it might have been nice to reduce the parking cost a little. The full breakfast was very expensive and I'm not sure we got our PGR discount. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I had a pleasant experience at the hotel. It has a really good location that is close to everything but far enough away from the really busy parts of Sydney. Being able to walk to the train station was fantastic. The hotel itself was nice. Would have been nice to have a fitness centre but it's not a major issue. The 2 for 1 deal through Priority Guest Rewards was my main reason for staying. I would consider staying here again depending on the price. The front desk staff were very nice.

As always I enjoyed my stay at Rydges North Sydney. The hotel was clean and tidy as always as was the room. I really love that Rydges has free Wi-Fi and honestly it's a big part of why I stay there. As someone who is on call for their work 24/7 for technical support even when I am on holiday I need good internet access and I have always had that at Rydgers. Thanks for another great stay and I'll be back to stay again soon.

Check in good fast / check out very very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Room ok but very dark, a couple of the lights didn't work. Breakfast was only ok.

Ive book a room for 5. Asked for xtra blanket ad theyve only provided 4 but reception said theres no available so they sent a portable heater which is not enought to comfort self against winter. Staff were friendly though.

As always the room was clean and high quality. The bed was well made and soft, many pillows to choose from, and the TV was large and easy to see. Large windows, no tears in the carpet or frayed furniture added to a great experience. Until I ordered a meal via room service. I paid a premium price for a club sandwich and fries that arrived made out of the two smallest pieces of bread I have ever seen. And the portion of fries it came with? A small cup containing 11 chips. Potatoes aren't even remotely expensive, small pubs in country towns manage to serve people giant meals for less money. Rydges: Get it together. If you want people to start buying the over priced room service menu more, then stick some photos up and become famous for providing large generous meals. It was late, after a long day, there were no restaurants nearby to the hotel and I thought I could just enjoy a sandwich and some chips. Turns out, I could not.

The hotel is a bit worn out and tired but ok in terms in cleanliness and amenity I was in room 504 and the pay TV channel reception was unwatchable! At least fix the TV reception do you get a clear picture The breakfast was fine except your morning chef was as rude as anything when I politely asked him for two fried eggs! At first he ignored me and pretended not to see me and was obviously in a bad mood! When he finally had to acknowledge me he snapped at me and spoke to me as if I was an idiot! Very poor customer manners on his part so much to that I didn't approach him the next day as I felt I would have said something back him.

Good location, quiet, and good service. Our bar fridge wasn't working and we got our rooms changed without a fuss. Maintenance man was on site early the next morning and I saw him replace the fridge early in the morning. They are installing a new lift system so be patient with only two working. Room was clean and had a nice view. Buffet breakfast was decent. Bed was comfy. Hotel is in a residential area and close enough to the city, but you don't have to cross the bridge if you don't have to because of Crows Nest just up the road and plenty of bars and places to eat around.

Very neat room. Nice restaurant with reasonable prices. Great mini bar stock, although I was shocked there were no in room movies. For a one night stay, was quite good.

I have stayed several nights (over 200) in The Rydges group of hotels in Parramatta, Bankstown, Sydney CBD and North Sydney and am a Priority member (Black card). I don't think Rydges North Sydney is good value for money considering I have paid about $250/night for a three-night stay every week for the past five weeks. The rooms are average, the aisle carpets are dirty and worn and the lifts are outrageous. Service is OK. I was surprised that the Bar was not able to offer me discounts for drinks and food on my Priority membership and I was asked to sit in the Restaurant. I have subsequently found serviced apartments for $175 / night which is substantially more comfortable, homely and much better value. I hope Rydges North Sydney realizes that they are dissuading frequent customers such as myself by quoting such high rates for the average level of accomodation.

Lift service — a disaster. Room air conditioning — ineffective. Housekeeping — Staff unable to replace defective bed lamp — only 2 glass tumblers available for consumption of beer, wine & spirits or whatever — power point/s not working in bathroom — no hooks on back of bathroom door — 1 hand towel & one face cloth for 2 guests — late afternoon room cleaning with cleaner denying us 10 minutes to prepare to leave room on basis it was her last room to clean. Food — a significant fall off in quality of hot buffet breakfast in comparison with previous stays. Drinks — served poor quality & flat sparkling wine as our complimentary drinks. Staff — friendly & courteous but mostly unskilled. Definitely not a 4 star+ offering.

Its ok. Stayed there for work and it's nice and clean and in a good spot relative to my office but nothing outstanding. Never had any issues with rooms at all. Good not great basically.

By agreeing to host a 2015 anti-vaccine tour of Australia, the Rydges Hotels chain is directly profiteering from the spread of false claims about vaccines, likely resulting in misery, and in extreme cases easily preventable death, of infants and children. Such misinformation is a clear menace to public health and safety, and in my opinion those benefiting from it are no better than those evangelising it. As such I will be avoiding the venue in future travels and suggest you consider doing the same (unless and until they reverse their stance).

The room was dirty and old. The room service food was cold. There really wasn't anything that I liked about it.

I had a waterview one bedroom suite so expected a nice quality room. The bed itself was comfortable but that was about it. The hot water stopped completely whilst having a shower and the A/C could not cool the room down. I had the same issue when I stayed there about 12 months ago and quickly remembered why I didn't come back! The small dining table chairs are that old, there is no actual support in the seat. The couch was comfortable though. I stay in Sydney quite a lot and there is a place a lot nicer for less in St Leonards. I wanted to try somewhere different but will go back to St Leonards. I must state though the staff were very good.

We checked in quite late due to commitments and were rudely awoken by what sounded like renovations above us before 7am which continued until after 9am (metal on metal and loud banging). The blackout curtain did not go all the way to the end of the wall and let substantial light in to the room very early as well. The bathroom was dated. There was no free drinking water in the fridge. The harbour views were not what we were expecting from North Sydney (harbour bridge and opera house), and lastly the rooms were quite smelly — mouldy. We were so unimpressed we did not stay a second night that we had booked and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The only reason I stay there is location. It's close to office. Low water pressure in the shower. Fittings in the bathroom are not less than 15 years old and not regularly maintained. Beds are fine. View is good if on high floor. Lifts are super slow. I once waited more than 5 mins to get a lift from the 11th floor.

An enjoyable stay for a business event. Although the muffins they served during the function break were an odd mix of sweet and savoury; as if someone had stuffed up the recipe. Chives, tomato and — wait for it — raspberries?! To further confuse everyone, the muffins were topped topped with sugar. What were you trying to be, Mr Muffin? Are you sweet, or are you savoury? You cannot be both, my friend! The breakfast selection is excellent. Although the suspicious muffins made an appearance here again, too. I decided not to tempt fate again.
