Just had a family two night getaway and it didn’t disappoint. All the kids including the teenagers downed their technology and played together and enjoyed the facilities. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. So much to do in the Port Stephens area. We will be back for a longer stay.

From the moment we booked, this place could not have been more helpful and accommodating! They were great. They spent time with me over the phone ensuring we had exactly what we needed for our large group.
Upon arrival, we found the accommodation to be exactly as was described. Situated on beautifully maintained grounds and an abundance of very happy birds! There were a few possums here and there, too. All in all, our group had a fabulous stay. Thank you!

A peaceful and relaxing spot.

Had a great time here managers are very helpful, tidy park with comfortable accommodation.

The accommodation was clean and well kept with extra blankets and heaters/AC if needed. Very close to dunes for lots of fun. The BBQ area was undercover and well appointed with tables, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had our wedding here and it was AMAZING! The property is in a beautiful location among the trees and the sand dunes literally next door gave us a great backdrop for our photos. Having the ability to arrange all of our own catering and BYO booze saved us a lot of money. We loved having all of our guests stay on the property with us and it made for a great weekend getaway for all. The staff were so helpful and were always there to help if needed.

We found the retreat cabin very comfortable. The staff were friendly. However, the TV was difficult to watch. It was at an angle and a bit to high. The TV was obstructing the cutlery cupboard. The floor towels in the bathroom were rather small. We just managed with the 2 ply toilet paper by having to use more! We will definitely stay there again. Beautiful, well kept grounds. Facilities great. Reception staff good. Janitor rude, arrogant, uneducated ruined experience for others which is s real shame for a small business. Due to him We wont return or recommend to others.

Wedding at the Retreat, February 2018 In my two-year engagement, I looked at almost every single wedding venue in New South Wales before I came across The Retreat. My wife and I stayed there for one night in May and fell in love (see previous review) So we booked in our February wedding and we were off and racing! Before we get into the rest of the review, I want to add that ours was a gay wedding with two brides and while I don’t think the sleepy seaside town of Port Stephens has seen many gay weddings, every single person that we met while planning this wedding was incredibly supportive of us. After we booked our wedding, the Plebiscite was announced and the staff at the Retreat were as excited as we were to receive the YES vote! My wife is from the north coast of NSW and I am from the south. The Retreat was nestled perfectly in between the two and an easy 3 hour drive from Sydney. We wanted somewhere that our 100 guests could stay for the weekend to extend the wedding festivities! We also wanted something with flexible catering and drinking options and the it doesn’t get much more flexible than The Retreat. Their motto is “return it as you found it” almost everything else is up to you. There are no hidden, sneaky costs and the staff could not have been more helpful in answering my thousands of questions. The grounds are beautiful enough to leave natural and wild or you can go DIY crazy (like I did) and turn it into a wedding wonderland of your choosing.

— Good place with a snap football court, volleyball field, table tennis and BBQ area. — Very friendly and helpful staff. — Driving distance to a very nice beach. (5 min drive) — Accommodation was a little expensive compared to our previous experiences.

Great location for a bucks weekend, well organised, cabin comfortable for 16 people, well organised activities also.

Amazing place to stay — we had the best time on my hens weekend! Sand dune quads and sunset cruise were amazing! Highly recommended.

We love this place its a family friendly environment, we been coming here since my kids are little now they are grownups still use this place for a getaway and group gatherings what I love about it is the back of the property’s have a sand dunes to walk and just relaxing sunset views is a must see. BBQ areas available.

Lovely atmosphere and dunes, comfortable and well fitted out cabins.

Basic accommodation. Microwave, gas cooktop, but has fans and air-con. Chilled mineral water is great. Nice location, with big dunes at the rear. Serene.

I have recently just hosted an amazing Lomi Lomi massage course at The Retreat in Port Stephens. The room was beautifully set up, clean, ample heating and had a lovely atmosphere. Also the added benefit of being surrounded by the trees, with the dunes and sea close by. A wonderful decking area and outdoor aspect. Our room was 'The Ranch' and I highly recommend it. Such a great weekend. And a reasonable price.

Simple living in every measure, but a nice place to get away for a few nights.

Lotof attractions for adults and kids as well.

Some may question holding a corporate event in this type of venue but this place ticks all the boxes in a relaxing environment. The team here are willing, friendly and helpful, the scenery is stunning, the food plentiful and delicious and helped make our event a success. Highly recommend for business or leisure.

Second time here. Usually do not go anywhere twice, but The Retreat is an exception. Easy drive from Sydney, close to off road beach access with lots to do for families with both older and younger kids. Privacy and a good atmosphere will keep us coming back. The best part is that we can bring our small dogs. Fenced in areas adjacent to some units offer a dog friendly accommodation so the WHOLE family can be together. Great staff and very clean. The Retreat deserves a shout out and 5 stars from our family!
