I didn’t stay at the hotel, I lunched there. Served on my plate was a large dose of rudeness and attitude from the cook and his cronies in the kitchen. The young boy behind the till was beautiful. Sweet, warm and diplomatic. He gave me a warm welcome and I asked if the vege nachos was vegan. Before he got to ask the cook a loud aggressive voice came from the stove yelling NO ITS NOT! I then asked the young fella if they had anything vegan on the menu and before he got to answer I hear that loud shout again (the cook was 4 feet away) THERES NOTHING VEGAN then banging of pots. I said to the young man okay I’ll have a plate of chips and is the gravy… and before I got to finish I heard. And the gravy’s not vegan either. Both the young man and myself were embarrassed. I said I’ll have a plate of chips and tomato sauce. When the chips came out I had four of them and couldn’t eat the rest. My stomach was churning from the aggression and bullying attitude of the cook and his disrespectful behaviour. My friend who had the schnitzel said his salad especially the cucumber had seen better days. I even mentioned the cook’s behaviour to the two lovely girls behind the bar who were disappointed to hear what happened. I’m not sure if the hotel runs this kitchen or it’s subcontracted but it really needs an overhaul of manners and service. I’m from Sydney up here for a few weeks with a film production, I’m sad that this was my first experience with Ballina. I certainly won’t be back.

Great meals at good prices and a ice cold beer … Nuff said.

DISAPPOINTING service that we received tonight. A group of us ordered our food tonight. All of our meals were brought out except for the 1 steak that was ordered. The RUDE girl serving said they couldn’t find the docket for the order and that the chef has now turned off the kitchen appliances. A sign at your store clearly says the kitchen closes at 8:30pm. Our orders were placed just after 7:50pm and it was 8:20 when the ‘last orders docket couldn’t be found. ’ Terrible customer service and not much better food!

Had dinner tonight and was told that the grill would be turned off at 8:30. With this knowledge a group of 7 of us ordered meals thinking we would all receive meals. At 8:24 the waitress came over and told us that the grills had been turned off and there was no way to turn it back on. She also told us that they had lost the docket for one of our meals. This left one out of 7 of us sitting there watching the rest of us eat. My other friend had a salt and pepper squid meal and this was served with only 4 very small pieces of squid. Upon asking them to turn the grill back on as this was unfair for our friend, the waitress put her hands up in the air and turned her back on us, leaving us disappointed and uncared for. Very poor customer service. Very disappointing.

On trip from Newcastle for work, snitty very nice and cheap, cans of coke shouldn’t be $4.80 tho.

Arrived at 7pm got told the meals would be 45 minutes only to wait an hour and 45 minutes. One bar staff was extremely rude, was happy with other customers but rude and unfriendly towards our table. We left a note saying we were unhappy and the food took to long as we felt she was unapproachable and other staff were preoccupied and she charged out of the pub after us just to tell us she was doing her job, the customer service side of her job was not nice and she wouldnt let us explain our complaint and told us to never come back. Would not recommend.

Brilliant food! Unbelievable Rump Steak, Chips and quality Salad FOR ONLY TEN DOLLARS! (Beautifully cooked to perfection and presented, so quickly as well; I had mine 'Blue', it was perfect and melt in the Mouth. Val's medium to well was perfection too. Great service 7mins go to woe and lovely staff. (Draught Guinness too! ).

Not a bad pub at all. Quite lively, especially on Saturday nights. Liked it.

Was just there for drinks and dinner on two nights. $10 meal was just right size and very nice peppr steak.

I had the $10 schnitzel salad and chips it was very nice friendly fast service and good beer. AC/DC pinball in excellent condition in the back bar along with a pool table and video arcade machine all pubs with pinball machines get 5 stars. Good value accommodation as well.

Great food at good prices with friendly helpful staff, nicely presented with a great atmosphere and just a great pub in town.

Clean an comfortable staff are very friendly would recommend it highly.

Shnitty was an absolute banger for $10 — 10/10 Devastated we missed trivia but looked like a lot of fun.

If you like pub grub bunk to a crispy… This is the place to be. Service was awesome… Food was… Smokey… And blackish…

Rooms are clean, tidy & basic as well as being priced right for the centre of town.

Great location, great rooms, great pub and staff. Especially Hunter and Teaghan who intruduced themselves to me and said I was welcome back anytime. If that’s not a sign of a good pub I don’t know what is.

Room was clean and quiet (especially for a Saturday night). Convenient location close to shops and dining options. Probably better suited to short stays like overnights and weekends as the rooms lack the amenities for a longer stay. Overall would stay again if we were in the area.

Good room for the price. Bit better blankets would be nice.

Was at Slipway for a friends birthday dinner. Atmosphere was great and food was delicious.

Terrible air con, couldn ' t sleep if you turn it, and also the Table is broken. But staff was very nice.
The air-conditioning is super noisy and dirty and smelly, the table is broken completely unbalanced.

Food and service were great. Had lunch outside and it was great!

I'm not one to really complain about restraunts but I felt the kitchen staff made us feel really bad for ordering 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. I completely get that it might have been at the end of the night but we felt un welcomed. To have all the food not even put in front of us but dropped at the end of our table, we felt like we should not have come in at all. Maybe the food should shut off at 8:00 not 8:30pm. On the positive, band and bar service were great and great set up. The old bloke at the end was so nice, cheers to him

A fantastic place to go and eat. You can purchase a $10 Chicken Schnitzel with chips and salad here and you will be satisfied with the quality.

One of the older pubs in town. Still going strong. Excellent service from bar staff.

Expensive, uncooked and rubbish. One of the chicken breasts was only cooked on one side, entirely raw on the other. Just oven wedges with the ribs, nothing else and over $21 each. Ripoff.
