Phoenix Halls Hotel

I am not really used to share a feedback online but I was so disappointed with my experience that I thought I was important for other customers to be aware of what they buy into.
I booked the “deluxe” room for one night for a little romantic escapade before Christmas, the price of the room was 120 pounds.
The first impact with the room was already very disappointing, the fabric of room door was not properly finished and gave a taste of cheap labour, similar to a hostel feeling. Moreover, the room light inside was a cheap neon style light which again was not a nice feeling.
The room had a very thin glass windows, so we were very cold all night and we could hear every car in the street!
The day after the shower had a very little water jet, which was uncomfortable as we could not properly warm up.
The breakfast was only available from 8 to 9 am, which we could not attend. In fact, the weekend is the only time we can sleep in a little later compared to a work week and we were very tired. I am not saying that the breakfast should be until 12 but at least 10 am would be a reasonable time.
The checkout of the room was 10 am which again was very early as it meant we could not enjoy properly the morning.
All in all, I was very disappointed of my stay in Maon Hotel and I would not recommend to anyone this hotel.

The hotel is a little way out of Brighton, perhaps a 10-15 mins walk away from the Lanes and pier. We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel in their deluxe room with en suite. The hallways and doors are a little unfinished, which gives off a slightly halls/ youth hostel vibe… However our bedroom and the breakfast room were really lovely, clean and homely. The bathroom felt very clean and new and our bedroom was tidied quickly in the morning.

I enjoyed my stay a lot thanks to vert polite staff, my room was a bit outdated, but you get what you pay for, breakfast was good, had some options there. I was missing Wi-Fi though. A bit noisy during the night with a buses driving past every now and then. I did not have a private bathroom or toilet though, it was in the hall. Its a good bargain if youre on a budget.

The first thing that attracted me to the Maon was the price but that was just one of this hotel's several fine qualities. SERVICE — At the time of booking, I was a little concerned that I received no confirmation. However, when I called closer to the time my telephone number was recognised and I was confident everything was in order. This service was consistent throughout my stay. I arrived a couple of hours later than expected but the owners were more than accommodating and I was greeted with a smile upon my arrival. They were very friendly, especially helpful and I felt extremely welcome. ACCOMMODATION — I went for a single, non-en-suite room to save on costs. It wasn't large but it was big enough for my purposes with everything I needed. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and I especially appreciated the presence of hot chocolate and a new bottle of water by the kettle, in addition to the standard tea and coffee. While not as pristine or modern as a large hotel, the building was clean and well-maintained and there was nothing about which I could complain. BREAKFAST — Everything was made to order and was well cooked. My only complaint would be that the sausages could have been of a higher quality but everything else was good. In addition to the standard cooked options, there was a decent selection of cereals. Breakfast time was supposedly between 8 and 8:30, which may be restrictive, but I wasn't hurried away from my table before I finished.
