Excellent city centre location — ideal for dropping in on the student to say hello! We have stayed here three times so far, and every time our visit has been clean, comfortable and efficient. We have used the pool as well a couple of times and it is a good though smallish pool — three or four strokes to reach each end, but good nevertheless.

Lovely friendly but professional staff. Spotless room. L:ovely pool and hot tub. Comfy bed and a lovely welcoming treat of tablet from the staff. Only slight disappointment was the bacon in the 'American pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup' breakfast choice. It certainly was not 'crispy'.

Great place for a few day break. Good sized pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. At extra charges (at high rates) all sort of massages and beauty treatments. Room was big and clean with a beautiful view. Bed was rather hard and uncomfortable but the whole stay was amazing.

Lovely clean welcoming Hotel, staff very helpful and pleasant, rooms very nice comfortable bed had a good night's sleep. Food good, continental breakfast, great selection also great selection of cooked breakfasts. Would certainly stay here again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. 10 out of 10

The rooms are excellent and there is a lovely restaurant. The prices in the restaurant and bar are what one would expect in an upmarket hotel. There is a nice leisure centre and you can receive various treatments, they do cost of course a bit more than you local high street prices but not as expensive as some hotels. The staff are very pleasant and to try to please the customers. The hotel is close to the city centre, 5 — 10 minute walk.

Excellent breakfast. Comfortable rooms with good facilities. Shame gym facilities don't open until 8 on a Saturday. Great position on the regenerating dock area of Dundee.

Lovely massage. Great swimming facilities. Small pool about 20m and sauna and steam room only accommodate around 5 people each. Gym facility was lacking squat racks and barbell equipment. Please try of weights and running machines.

Rooms have been refurbished looking great, had dinner in hotel, best to book DBB deal as meals can be very expensive! Wonderful choice for breakfast. Staff very professional and helpful! Slight problem with booking in had to wait quite a time after booking in time, we were told would not be long! But kept saying that! Please be honest with your customers!

Came here for a quick bar lunch on our way home. I've always liked the Apex, definitely one of the better hotels in Dundee but for a quick bite to eat, look elsewhere. The buffalo chicken is simply phenomenal, but boy is it expensive. I also had a portion of chips, triple cooked apparently but I suspect that stamen could be false. And £5.50 for a small bowl of chips, really? For that reason, I cannot recommend the Apex for a bar lunch.

Stayed in Apex City Quay Hotel, Dundee. Takes 5 to 10 minutes to get to town centre, depending how fast you walk. Booked a comfortable newly refurbished executive room facing onto the Quay. Super view & facilities. Good selection on breakfast menu. Able to have anything on menu as booked in advance through there reservation department for BB deal. Also had lovely evening a la carte meal in restaurant. Used newly refurbished swimming pool with spa facilities & gym. Only one unfortunate thing, delayed getting into room on arrival due to not being ready, even although we were asked at reservations when we would arrive & arrived in good time. As a result gave us complimentary drinks. Overall really good experience. Staff helpful & pleasant. That is why gave 5 stars.

Lovely hotel but be wary of booking spa treatments. My friend and I had booked a spa package. We turned up early for our treatments knowing we'd have to complete health questionnaires. Our appointment was for 2.45pm. No one came near and we had to go back out to reception at 3.30pm to ask what the problem was. We discovered that our time slots had been given to a couple who stated they were on the spa package, they weren't! No one thought to ask for their names, so my friend and I were told we couldn't be taken for at least another hour. By this time we were so angry there was no point in having any treatments as the desired effect would have been diminished or lost entirely. On speaking with the spa assistant manager the next day, he was less than sympathetic and only served to resurrect our anger from the day before. We ended up being 'squeezed in' for a half hour treatment each, which was less than satisfactory. However, the hotel front office manager Lexy, was wonderful, taking money off the cost of our break and providing a free bottle of prosecco at dinner. The general manager, also has offered us a free overnight stay with our full one hour treatments at a date of our choosing. Overall, thumbs up to the Apex Hotel management, but sincere doubts over the spa assistant manager's attitude.

What an amazing place to stay, the hotel is lovely, clean, spacious and bright, met family here for a three day break. Would go back again and again. It's the staff that make staying here so wonderful. They left a cake in my room as I was celebrating my 50th with a lovely card. Nothing was too difficult for the staff. They constantly went out of their way to ensure we were happy and taken care of. On our second night we ate here and were given free drinks for my birthday. I left here feeling very relaxed and looked after. This is a rare place and I've stayed in hundreds of hotels. This review only allows you to give five stars but that just doesn't feel enough for reviewing this hotel. A Gem.

Excellent rooms, good food, helpful staff. There is a good swimming pool which is currently closed for an upgrade. Guests are given free access to the very good new public pool which is within easy walking distance.

Jennifer on the hotel reception is needing cloned, she's incredibly efficient and friendly. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud, especially since Jennifer sorted us out some firmer pillows no bother. The bathroom is a proper wet room with a bath and toilet and you don't have to worry about paper thin walls. The samsung TV in the room is pretty big, you'd be happy enough to have it in your living room at home with all the usual freeview channels. Only loses a star due to the swimming pool being closed during our stay for renovation, I imagine when all the renovations are done we're going to need more stars to give. In addition to that the attached/in house restaurant (The Metro) is incredible — amazing food and great friendly staff, a must visit!

A good place for the occasional work overnight. Run of the mill for its category. Friendliness receptionists. Good food but nothing to write home about. Photo shows detail of view on Tay rivet and new Victoria and Albert design museum, from window.

Meal and service was generally great. Unfortunately the banana dessert was very chewy, suspected the banana was dried not fresh. Pointed this out to the waitress and was good as her word it was deleted from the bill. Sometimes a wee bit slow with the drinks delivery even although it wasn't busy. Still a great place to go for a meal and drink tho.

Looks a bit dated from the outside… But inside is very impressive! Stayed here between Christmas and New Year and it did not disappoint. Rooms were modern, comfy and very well equipped (Galaxy hot chocolate! ). The spa and leisure facilities were excellent and they are due to be updated soon too! Had a buffet breakfast which was tasty. There is a cost for parking however this can be claimed back when checking out the hotel. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Top notch hotel. Can't find fault with anything. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Ideally situated. Modern. Clean. Great facilities. Large rooms. Cannot wait to come back. Xxx.

I went for a birthday spa session with a friend and a 3 course meal was included in the package. Food was buffet style, delicious 4-5 options each. The massage was very nice and relaxing although the total massage time did not feel like 30 mins. We also had access to the pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Although the pool was rather small. They offer towels, a robe and slippers and the showers come with shampoo, liquid soap and lotion. The staff is pleasant and helpful. A very lovely experience.

Very comfortable room with a great view over the quay, just a short walk from the town center. The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay and we enjoyed making use of the hotel spa. I'd happily stay again next time I'm in Dundee!

I've been to this hotel before. It is situated at the quayside and only about five minutes walk from the town centre. Friendly and helpful staff. I stayed for two nights and had the continental breakfast. On both mornings the meats and cheeses were dry from a lack of cover, a handful of rolls and mini croissants made up the bread selection. This was balanced out by the fruits, fruit juices, cereals and house yogurts on offer. A generally unappealing mealtime. Decent sized pool with steam and sauna rooms. There's two jacuzzis but one was out of operation — the same one as the last time I visited in 2016. While our room was clean and well appointed it was a little tired and in need of a spruce up. There's refurbishment ongoing so the management are aware of the need for a fresh look but for my visit this time it gets a 3-star review.

Was at the Apex for a work related conference, the conference facilities were a good fit for the events I attended, staff were helpful and friendly and the catering was good. As a vegan I particularly appreciated the effort put into vegan options at coffee breaks, including vegan donuts! The hotel is in a central location, easy to get to by bus or train and has parking to the rear with good access.

I visited the apex most recently as a patron of the spa. I paid for a single days use so that I could access the pool at a time where public pools in the area were full. It was more expensive than a trip to your local pool but the service and amenities more than made up for it. It was the day after the clocks were turned back and the staff were lovely when I randomly shouted to them from the pool to double check the time. The towels and shower products were brilliant as was the case with the double headed shower. The pool part of the spa had a steam room, sauna, (an amazing) cold shower, I believe 1 jacuzzi and 1 hot tub and obviously the pool. All of which were in full working order and at very least all looked well cleaned and maintained.

Stayed in the master suite and it was fabulous. Huge room with lounge area and bedroom separated by double doors. Floor to ceiling windows give fantastic views of the water and we had 2 toilets! Which made me chuckle. Windows were a bit drafty and some scuff marks on furniture need addressed but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious, continental buffet, hot buffet and à la carte-something for everyone. Steak night was well received too.

Pound for pound (£) the best hotel in the UK, no doubt. Great set up, great views, friendly staff amd the comfiest bed I've ever stayed in! Oh, and when it comes to breakfasts they don't mess about either! Didn't get to use the spa facilities but they look great and I will definitely be considering it next time.

Was here for a conference in an afternoon. I arrived early so had some lunch. The buffalo chicken wings were horrible and the triple cooked chips were the worst chips I've ever had. Lunch came to £13.50 and really wish I hadn't bothered. Never once asked how my food was even when I left most of it. Conference room was very cold with the air con. Although I think that was more the trainers decision. The door to the room locked whenever anyone went to the toilet and so they had to knock to get back in. Slightly annoying.

Lovely view out across Dundee from our top floor room which was really accessible from the road while not being too far from the rest of Dundee. Had a drink in the bar which was nice. Good choice in whisky and a good cocktail menu. Spent the morning in the swimming pool and sauna which, though small, was nice and not busy at all.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating, making us feel special on our anniversary stay. Rooms are clean and amply equipped, with the bathroom having both bath and separate shower, oh and a duck :) There was a mini fridge in the room and hot drink making facilities. Located in the heart of Dundee, just a couple of minutes walk from the city centre. Great views of the docks. Breakfast is extra and either buffet, continental or there is a breakfast menu from the kitchen with a good selection. Very enjoyable stay and will definitely return.

Great location. Arrivedat 12pm and asked by chance to leave luggage to venture into city. Lyndsay on reception said we could have one of our two rooms andby the time we collected our luggage from the car the second room was ready. Our in laws in their late 70's thought this was marvellous as it gave us a few extra hours to wander round the city. We had the continental breakfast and Nadia looked after the in laws well with more tea and hot water. Lyndsay and Nadia are a credit to the Hotel.

Fantastic place. Great rooms worth paying that bit extra for. Staff wonderful and friendly. Breakfast was fairly good but ran out quickly and kitchen wouldn't make more. Function was excellent. Tables decorated very nicely and good just perfect. Had a small incident where I cut my tongue on a chipped glass. Staff were ok and an accident report was partially completed. Would visit again.

Had an interesting stay. On the first night we were kept awake by an event taking place directly below our room. We could hear every word of each song being played, complained to reception and were told it would finish at 12. It did but unfortunately our first floor room was directly above where the guests waited outside for taxis. Queue lots of shouting and wailing until 2am. We complained the following morning and managed to change our room for the second night. However, the duty manager really did his best to make our second day feel special. We got a free breakfast and a free lunch after the spa treatment we had booked. Given the potential for noise I'm still not sure I can recommend the hotel for a spa weekend, although the treatments we had were fantastic. Despite the disturbance we have had a great stay just be wary if you end up in a room on a lower level at the front of the hotel.

Was at the apex on the 31st of May, for a work related Dinner. The front desk, waiting and bar staff were excellent as always; however Incredibly disappointed by the food. Was a set menu of Goat's Cheese salad, Haddock and Sticky Toffee pudding. 1. The Goat's cheese salad was undressed, with very little effort put into the preparation (or so it seemed). 2. The main was over-cooked piece of haddock with an inedible tasteless herb crust. This was served up on a lump of mashed potato, into which the two pieces of very nearly cooked asparagus were pressed, and what looked like a burnt piece of broccoli. The whole thing was drowned in a butter sauce which over powered any flavour that may have remained. 3. Pudding was good. Quite disappointing really, as have had food in the apex before and been really pleased.

Booked a junior room for 2 nights for my 15 year anniversary. I later received an email to upgrade my room to the executive suite. I immediately purchases the upgrade. When we arrived to the hotel we were told that there were no upgrades available for us. The hotel manager was very helpful. But what is the reason for sending out the email if there are no upgrades available Very disappointed.

Location excellent, ample convenient parking. Wonderful staff. Problem with phone booking — was assured if complimentary room upgrade by operator on phone but we had to pay.

I had to wait a long time at a quiet bar to get served and my drink order took a very long time. The atmosphere and decor are very nice, and you get good views across the harbour.

Met some friends who will be graduating soon from university. Place is well kept and staff were attentative. A little noisy though.

Average, I was hoping for something better.

Always wary as sometimes 'lesser quality' can be evident when using vouchers (itison in this case). However, despite the dire exterior, the interior is bright, open and spacious — good start. Was slightly concerned by the the waiting staff comment of " you're brave ", on choosing the 3 course option — now I know why… Having chosen from a menu from which personal taste dictated we would enjoy almost anything, (prawn cocktail, ham terrine, fish and chips, butterfly chicken and tarte tatin can all be thoroughly recommended). Delicious food, lovely presentation, could not move when we finished as sheer greed and enjoyment meant finishing every mouthful — brave indeed! Waiting staff cannot be faulted — polite, prompt, friendly and smart, an asset to Apex — take note bosses, keep these people! (Having had a hugely disappointing experience at Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow, a purportedly top hotel and bistro, I can say their *sses have been whipped in all counts by Apex Dundee). We will definitely be back, one of the best meals out we have enjoyed — thank you!

Love the pool & gym. Very relaxing and a nice break from everyday life.

I was there for a social event organised by an outside party. The meal was okay, but I was told I was given a lactose free meal which I don't think I was as I ended up ill.

Had a great meal here, staff were very attentive and food was good quality. However I did not stay over.

I was at the Apex for a medium sized event. Very pleasant venue, great music, staff happy and quick with their service and the tables were always cleared of empty classes and dance floor was cleaned. Broken item were quickly cleared and bathrooms were spotless. The view towards the water was very beautiful. On a separate occasion I have tried their food with decious and beautifully looking foods and drinks and was very pleased with the overall experience. I hope to visit the Apex again soon!

My partner and I had an overnight planned. We opted for an upgrade at time of booking and we were rewarded with a suite. The staff were super polite and were very accommodating. The chef prepared an off menu dish for me due to my dietary requirements. The suite was clean and the facilities were wonderful; comfy bed, spacious rooms, modern flat screen tv's, massive bath and great walk in shower. Our stay was wonderful and we will definitely stay there again.

Been to a few functions here and not that excited by the quality of the food, the service is terrible particularly the bar staff and overall not an exjoyable venue.

Nice clean and spacious rooms that are well-stocked with quality extras including the obligatory rubber duck. Staff were pleasant and friendly, and the food in the restaurant was tasty. It was good to see that Wi-Fi was free unlike some other hotels.

Fantastic sized room, very clean modern and comfortable. The disabled bathroom had a great wet room. Disabled access into the hotel is a little tricky. Staff very friendly and professional except for breakfast service which was shockingly poor.

Superb hotel, fantastic room (corner views) don't think I have stayed anywhere nicer. Would not think twice to recommend & will go back & stay again.

I think this could be the bet value for money hotel I have stayed in. Staff were great form the moment we arrive. We got an upgraded room overlooking the quayside and it was of a great standard. Really close to train station and shops. Also tried the pool, sauna and steam room all of which were of a very high and modern standard. Had lunch before we left which was really nice. Everything was spot on at this hotel and it was a very good price. Thank you and well done.

Our room was not cheap, considering there is a holiday Inn express around the corner. With this in mind, I was very disappointed with the quality of the room, we had a nice view of the quayside but the room was very tired looking and not decorated to a good standard, I think the bar staff may have had a go at Wallpapering? Not a professional job at all. I liked the large TV and the fact you did get standard equipment in the room, but it just looked a bit scruffy.

Excellent wedding venue, easy to work in and around. The wedding photography in provide is made so much easier by staff such as at The Apex in Dundee. I am traveling alot for work. But need to say this is one of the best Hotels I have stayed in so far all over europe. A really great place to be, friendly stuff. Clean and modern rooms with a nice view. Good breakfast.

Nice hotel food good but a bit over priced.

The hotel was lovely and clean, great facilities and great Customer Service! Would definitely make a point of staying again. Very central to the high street. Kerrie and Paul stayed 08/04/13.

Our first impression of this hotel was very promising. It is in a superb location. The spa facilities are excellent also comprising a pool sauna steam room hot tubs gym and massage beauty treatments. Our only concern with the spa was the temperature. The pool was freezing cold, the hot tubs luke warm and sauna could have been hotter. We went for the standard room and this was large and luxurious although we were woken very early in the morning to banging. Reception were very good and offered us a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast turned out to be very good.

The feel and appearance of the botique hotel, at a much more than botique price. It is the best hotel in Dundee though, so the price is justified. Makes for a decent social hotel thanks to the 24 hour bar and decent modern restaurant. The town is small enough that it is a short walk to anywhere, though most of the decent food is probably worth taking a cab.
