Went for an early dinner — before 6pm today with my daughter.
I chose the fish and chips with tartare sauce, and was extremely disappointed with a plate of poor quality tasteless food. The chips were skinny fries you’d get at a McDonald’s, and definitely not as tasty. The fish which was a frozen pre — battered fish of poor quality, and a birds eye fish finger would have been of a better quality and taste. The peas were awful, and tasted like they were from a cheap frozen packet. Not good quality and definitely not worth eating. I looked for the tartare sauce to give this nasty meal some taste. Then realised it was a small hienz tear packet on a tray that was left on our table.
My daughters risotto was even worse. Again, seemed to be from a cheap and poor quality frozen packet and was not a risotto in any shape or form. No cream wine sauce, but plain white rice with the odd frozen pea and frozen tasteless mushroom in it.
As I left most of my meal, the understaffed waitress / till worker if we’d enjoyed our meal. I told her NO. She said she’d say to chef and didn’t return. My daughter ordered a flat white coffee as she doesn’t like frothy coffees. The coffee arrived and the 1 member of staff put it on the table and left before my daughter could ask for it to be exchanged for the flat white coffee she ordered. Instead she took out the froth to find less than 1/2 coffee left to drink.

So booked the lazy Sunday package. Gary on the front desk amazing. Went for dinner had to wait 45 mins for a portion of onion rings. Then another 35 minutes on top of that for dinner. Some of the dinner was cold as the chef seems to bring out one piece of food at a time under the hot plate. Room was needing a good clean mirrors were dirty and windows. The small stuff like the bed drawer was broken and looked unsightly bed was rock solid. It was covered in cobwebs over the double doors outside and railings. Housekeeping arrived at the door with no mask on especially when upon opening the door I had a mask on. Would not enter the room even to collect dirty towels, or take them from us. The staff seem great just the small things that let it down. Checkout well well well she spoke over the top of me and cut me off whilst speaking. Asked who I could provide feedback and to inform them as someone was walking about during the night up the hallway. Rather alarming at 2am. However the female was having non of it and it was like on your Merry way. Not even did you have a nice stay nothing. That’s the bill, put your card in. Write to the general manager if you have a problem. Won’t be back. Unfortunately the Alona was a great place pre COVID and going into administration look at the mess it’s in now. Disappointed.

Amazing hotel staff are fantastic spotless and food is lovely have been to the alona 11 times now and it has always been a pleasure x.

My family attended Alona for lunch today. It is a great venue especially now with Covid as the restaurant is spacious and the tables are a good size. We all ordered different dishes which were generous portions and delicious. One of our party required some assistance with her mobility and the staff could not be more helpful. I would definitely recommend Alona.

Had the best time ever. My husband is very romantic, this hotel attended to all his requirements e. G. Chocolate strawberries, cupcakes done birthday fashion.

Great 3 course meal … excellent service and staff … see what tomorrow brings at breakfast ty.

Beautiful room, food was amazing, spotlessly clean hotel. The staff were so friendly, always had a smile on their faces and very helpful. I’ve stayed in a few top hotels in Edinburgh but The Alona topped them all. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Thank you for a lovely Christmas dinner I was working today until 4pm so it was lovely to have such a great time and the staff were very friendly and helpful thank you so much.

1st time in the AlonA last night at the Christmas party night. It was a great night. Excellent staff, brilliant band and the food was ok too.
would definitely recommend.

Went to the 80s hitman and her night was a fab night as always great music and staff all lovely.

Rooms are fab — blinds on windows & heavy curtains to block out light
comfy big bed with fluffy pillows nice linen
Breakfast was delicious plenty choice
Cannot fault our stay at all

The reception staff were very nice the room looked good but there where spiders on ceiling saw 4, we had cob webs all over door spiders dropping down from webs looked like room hadn't been cleaned
if it had been cleaned there would have been know webs wont stay there again.

My wife Elinor and myself received a voucher for a meal at the Alona for our Golden Wedding a few weeks ago. We decided to use voucher last night Sunday 28th July. The staff were very friendly and we felt comfortable straight away although it was our first visit there. The restaurant was very stylish and well laid out and we were very impressed. We did not feel like newbies as the staff made us feel so much at home. It was our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last. Looking forward to our next visit already. Well done Alona. Lovely place, beautiful scenery next to clyde. Nice food. Bit expensive side where was you expect.

First time trying there and it was lovely, Esther who served us was lovely very friendly and helpful, would definitely return x.

Very disappointed in Alona Hotel, tables are not clean all stains, food was not hot or presented well. Staff were helpful. I regularly attend here and the standard is slipping very badly, I have no wish to return for food or drinks at dirty table. Clean up your act please?

Been here a few times and loved it each time and the lunch and dinners are superb as well… first class can’t fault it.

We would like to thank all the lovely staff at the Alona for helping us make our special day happen, yous we’re so attentive and nothing was ever a problem, can’t recommend you guys enough yous were amazing.

I can’t thank the hotel enough the house keeper especially as they called to say I’d left my jewellery in the room! I was at a wedding and stayed overnight the housekeeper held it in and they passed it to the bride excellent service!
Had an excellent dinner the previous night and a very helpful member of staff checked us in and also came to the room to fix the safe I would highly recommend this hotel.

A beautiful hotel, right next to the theme park. I stopped here with work but it seems good for all.

Right inside Strathclyde's country park. A bit more characterful than the obvious chains. Right nextdoor to the amusement park, but not disturbed by this. Friendly staff, comfortable good sized rooms. Worth considering as an overnight stop off the motorway, or a stay at the country park.

I got married in the Alona hotel 27/07/2018 and it was the best day of my life. My husband and I can’t thank the Alona enough for everything they done for us our whole wedding day was amazing, the food was beautiful and served very warm which is a major plus when serving so many people at the one time. I would like to give a special mention to Helen, she couldn’t do enough for us from making sure all dresses and kilts where sitting properly to asking the rod Stewart act who… was playing in the showbar upstairs to come down and get a few photos with myself and some guests. The venue and staff where exceptional, all the little extras they done for us made us feel so welcome and at ease ensuring we had the most special day. Thank you so much xx.

Great place for a wedding but pricey at bar. Watch your change!

Hotel was OK, the problem is with the local kids using the rear car park as a skid pan. Constant loud exhausts wheel spinning and general anti social behavior. If you want to be asleep by midnight don't stay here. This is happen every night not just weekends, it's so bad I have now found another hotel for future work trips.

The staff are what make this place they're really first class. Location and ambience are quite unusual and always pleasant. If you haven't been before check it out it's well worth the trip.

Staff are really nice with excellent service and attention to detail. They also have a restrunt the really good to that serves a full English every morning your there. Which is included in the price.

Staff very friendly chef very helpful for gluten free products and if you phone in advance they will even provide gluten free afternoon tea with gluten free cakes.

Lovely morning coffee and scones. Good value and very tasty.

Here with no internet most of the night, having to use patchy mobile network signal that I get in the room. Phoned front desk to be told that their internet isn't connecting either but there's nothing they can do about the Wi-Fi. Looks like I won't be getting much work done tonight. Thanks Alona hotel.

Nice hotel — good service, good food and decent rooms. Bit hard to find in the dark though — the road outside could do with some improved lighting.

Held my wedding reception here last week and loved every second. Accommodation, complimentary Prosecco and chocolates were a lovely surprise, all staff were delightful and nothing was a problem, food was to a high standard and I want to do it all again.

Attended 2 weddings and also been for Christmas dinner. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's very clean. Food is great and drinks are reasonably priced.

Stayed here for 2 nights, Was a lovely place friendly staff large room with bath and shower, breakfast was ok plenty choice buffet style, room was cold as radiator didn’t work but was quickly resolved by staff with portable radiator, would stay again thanks.

Afternoon tea. Pretty basic but nice enough. Nice place, comfortable, well maintained, good view. Staff friendly and helpful.

Friendly staff, the food was great. The room was clean and very nice. Only complaint is there was no control over the rooms temperature. Way too hot during the night.

Th Alona Hotel is lovely & my family when eaten there previously have never had a bad meal, however the service is a completely different story. We went to the Alona today around 2pm — there were 7 of us for my Grans95th birthday and we sat on the couches (as we always have before for food, as it's nice to sit after dinner & have drinks/coffee). The restaurant was quiet, we have seen it much busier however the had a few large groups; sat for 10minutes before we had to approa…ch a waiter — who informed us as we hadn't booked — the kitchen were over occupied and couldn't accommodate us for food — no signs on the door or online. We asked to speak with the manager — who's attitude was disgusting' — no regards for customer service whatsoever. We advised him we had eaten before without booking; we had traveled to eat at the restaurant and complimented the food, to which he shrugged his shoulders said 'no can do' and walked off.
The waiter then came over and told us we wouldn't get a table anywhere without booking for 7 without a reservation. Just as a dig I think, no helpfulness or anything. We then went outside, phoned the AvonBridge Hotel and they said 'come along we will have a table ready do you all' — the service and food was spectacular and we gladly spent our £150 there!

Great place been here a few times! Very nice place to go relax when you need to find yourself. The staff are very friendly very helpful it's close to the arcade and the funfair. Good few food places to go eat around the area within minutes. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a wonderful dining experience here today food was exquisite, staff very attentive. My husbands birthday he is hard to please and thoroughly enjoyed the meal will definitely go again when we visit.

A lovely hotel in a lovely area. The staff were really helpful and overall the service was great. The food was delicious and the breakfast buffet had everything you could ask for. The bedrooms were spotless and comfortable. I would happily stay here again.

I attended a wedding there and it was lovely. The staff were friendly and efficient, everything went very smoothly and bride and groom had a wonderful time.

Friendly staff, with inviting accommodation — comfortable beds and excellent showers — tea/coffee making facilities and a decent flat screen TV to watch! The restaurant offers a good menu to choose from for your evening meal, staff are always attentive and courteous, while being unobtrusive. Good selection of food at self-service breakfast bar in the morning, whether you prefer Continental, or the excellent full English. I've had several visits, and the standard has always been very good. It's a personal thing, but I'd like a softer pillow!

Wedding guest and also stayed overnight. Beautiful setting and venue for a wedding. Friendly and professional staff and service. Food delicious and hot. Prices reasonable. Room and beds comfortable.

Used the facilities many times through work and always had a great service. Now looking forward to August as my daughter has booked her wedding hear as a package where they take care of all your needs giving you less to worry about and let's her concentrate on having that special day to remember for all time.

We recently held a meeting at the Alona Hotel and will definitely not be going back. The food wasn’t delivered on time so we had to remind the staff to bring it out. We were served a small platter of sandwiches that clearly weren’t made on the same day and were almost inedible. Considering what they charge, we expected a high quality meal, not a few dried up sandwiches. People took time out of their busy day to attend the meeting and I think it’s embarrassing that they were made to wait and then served sub-standard food. When we contacted Alona after the event to make them aware of the issues, we received a snappy response saying that they think the food and service were fine. At no point did they apologise or even offer an explanation for what had happened. They then followed up by saying that they would reduce the price of the catering but only because they had quoted us the wrong price in the first place! (! ) Behaving this way is not only inconsiderate but it’s also a sure-fire way to lose customers so it doesn’t make any sense. I understand that mistakes happen but it’s completely unacceptable to then take no responsibility and show no consideration whatsoever towards your customers.

I thought the hotel was very nice, room was clean and the hotel recently refurbished. The staff were friendly and the food (dinner and breakfast) very nice. Not much to do in the vicinity however unless you like theme parks and bowling alleys with arcade machines.

First time visit for a friend's wake held in the marquee in the back. Unfortunate circumstances but from the brief visit, the staff were cordial and polite, food was good and venue was excellent.

Very good food at the glass house rest.

Boxing event + three course meal and drinks all round. The food was delicious and the drinks were reasonably priced. Well recommended place to check out.

A bit overpriced but ok rooms are a bit tired.
