Booked in for 19.00 bar maid said no booking was made?
Explained had booked she didn’t give dam! Attitude was disgusting barmaid didn’t care in the slightest, crap attitude, no customer service at all. No organisation. Worst part is it took 20 minutes to actually be told they had no recollection of our booking. Pointless.

The campsite wasn't quite what we paid for, it was just an unkept field with limited electric certainly not worth the £30 per night, toilets were functional just! the waste area was overgrown, however the saviour was the pub, and the meals were ok under the current circumstances. There were a few unhappy caravanners this weekend thinking we were on the wrong site.

Very helpful staff went out of there way to accommodate us.

Not surprised there was very little customers today, the barmaid was pretty hostile and rude as she served me over priced ale. I won't be visiting again.

Just stopped for Sunday lunch and the carvery was excellent. Lovely meat and a great selection of vegetables. Will definitely be back.

Great food and Carvery, lovely staff and service. Hotel set in a tranquil setting up from the historic ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey in the Vale of Llangollen.

We had a lovely, bright room, very clean. Meals good, dog friendly.

Beautiful landscapes, specious garden, nice food… kids friendly place.

We love the carvery on a Sunday good home cooking and plenty of it, rinsed down by a good.

Very helpful man who waited to welcome us when we were late arriving. The rooms were clean and traditional. Eggs on toast did take 47 minutes to arrive and it was not served with a smile! The woman serving was the most miserable person I have ever met but maybe she was just having a bad day.

We have camped here and its brilliant. Amazing views, quiet, clean and basic — which is what you want when camping. I read the reviews before we went and was in two minds whether to cancel as I was dreading it but seriously, people must expect the ritz in a field. We have a dog and 2&4 year old who also loved it. 5 minute drive in to Llangollen town centre too where there's a coop and spar. Can't wait to go back!

Friendly staff, nice spot but the food was nothing to write home about and the children portions were probably suited to 3 year olds, 1 sausage, 3 chicken nuggets and 5 pieces of grey pasta for the vegetarian dish, could of so easily been much better.

Value for money pretty spot. Food is terrible though.

Fabulous little hotel set in stunning surroundings. Definitely going back. Spacious double room with on suite bathroom with shower, and beautiful views from the window. Helpful friendly staff too.

Staff were very rude to ALL guests.
Room was tired and not very clean.
Mould on tiles and wall in bathroom.
Handle on window was on upside down and broken.
Shower curtain was hanging off the wall
Shower was a mixer tap in the bath, could cope with that but mixer button was missing.
Kettle was faulty, had to hold on until boiled.
Bath towel was dirty
Crack and hole in the bath.
Cups and saucers were dirty.
Food was average and small portions compared to price.
Grossly overpriced and most definitely not worth a third of what we paid.

Despite advertising the local brewery ale, when I arrived on Wednesday, the brewery had not delivered any so I had to have a warm bottle from the back instead. The food was gorgeous though. We had a curry and a lasagne. All homemade. All fantastic tasting.

Great little pub/hotel with friendly staff and reasonable prices really enjoyed my stay And they are dog friendly.

Most of the draught beers weren't available when I visited and food was suddenly stopped being served 45min before time. Pretty poor when you're counting on it because you're camping and have had a few drinks! Only given 2 stars because camping was reasonable and a lovely location.

Simple home cooked food served with a relaxed attitude! Has potential to be more, just needs a bit of tlc.

The lady who runs it is lovely the pub is kept tidy and it's clean not yet tried the food but my daughter works there loves it and all she goes on about is the bloody cabbage lol.

Just the ticket for a one night stopover. Great breakfast, nice views, and good Wi-Fi.

Not the most welcoming place. Could work on customer service. Also could benefit from a new air bed for the family room as my daughter had to get into bed with us once the bed deflated. In the middle of the night. Very outdated and shabby in places with kitchen smells throughout the whole building including sheets and towels which smelt of chip fat! Such a shame as it has so much potential with a little more effort from the owners. Beautiful views and lovely location are it’s strong points.

Stank of rotton fish. Only one beer available. Food wasnt available and no ice in the middle of summer. Grumpy bar staff.

It takes dogs, which is good. Whole place seemed tired. Food poor.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Set in a beautiful location with very little noise around, we found it easy to relax. The only thing we didn't like was the creaky floorboards. We stayed in room 3 and if people in the room opposite got up to use the toilet in the night, it would wake us as the floorboards are so loud. Otherwise it was really nice and the breakfast was very good.

Lovely hotel. Very welcoming. Needs a bit updating, but worth a stay.

Large comfy bed and lots of hot water. A decent breakfast too!

I don't normally moan about places as they are all worth a chance… but! If you have tastebuds then the food here is not for you. The carvery had real potential but was just badly cooked and way to much salt and pepper in the ingredients. The beef tasted like it had been washed in soapy water. If you have a small child / baby don't expect to find anywhere to change them as no baby change services were available. The whole place needs a revamp and would be great if they do but it did feel like an 80's time warp. Sorry.

We really liked The. Place, very Quiet. The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was included, breakfast was plentiful and varied.
The Deal. Staff was correct, the girl who greeted us at night very friendly. Not so much the one that served Us. Breakfast which was quite aloof.
All good in General.

Lovely country pub in marvelous location, would give 5 stars but food service a bit slow.

It's one of those places that could be stunning, with a bit of money thrown at it and a bit of planning. We went on Saturday as it was lovely, there was 7 of us and another group turned up. However they never sent any extra staff yo help the poor lady who was rushed off her feet leading to our food arriving half an hour apart.

Only came in for drinks to suss out place every as to whether to return for food. Seriously lacking in atmosphere. Helped by the fact that the music was stuff to be buried to unfortunately. It was like being in dfs but with calming background music. Bit of conversation would have been nice from the bar lady. Outdoors was lovely with the lovely. Lawn and tables and beautiful views and surrounding area. Perfect Base.

Went there for food and ordered the lamb shank. It had about 2 pieces of meet on it for £16! What a joke. Sent it back and got the fish and chips instead but everyone on the table had finished by the time mine came out! Asked for it to takeaway and as the waitress brought it out she's gave me a sly remark about how they 'dont do takeaways', well sorry but I wouldn't of had to ask if they had cooked quicker or just given me a decent piece of last! my cider was flat also! Rude and disappointing! Wouldn't recommend it!

Go here every week usually for Sunday lunch always good food staff always helpful and friendly.

Stayed here camping for two nights august bank hol weekend, toilets consisted of one cubicle for men and one for women only, 2 urinels which could clearly be seen by every passer by, one shower for each gender. No toilet seat in the gents for both days we were there and overflowing and blocked for one of them. Tap in the ladies was nothing short of a dribble with no soap etc to be seen.
One large belfast sink for washing up however hot tap clearly not worked in a long while.
The rubbish area was just a little trailer that everyone threw their litter in (not even a lid)
The pub also left a lot to be desired.
Such a shame that there was no sign of any staff/management after you had checked in, as this place was in lovely surroundings but lacked any kind of tlc by anyone, could have huge potential if anyone had ever bothered to maintain it.
Wouldn't return here ever!

Food terrible. Beef, Welsh Ale and Mushroom pie was half a dozen small pieces if meat clamped between two thick, soggy, doughy, microwaved slabs of pastry… if you could call that. The carrots tasted like tinned… the peas looked like they're been kept warm for an eternity and the potatoes was passable. They definitely need a new pastry chef!. As for my son's beef burger with onions and chips… the bap was over toasted, the burger was over cooked and thick cut onions was greasy and burnt. The chips looked like they're been re-fried 3 or 4 times… I won't be returning.

Very very poor restaurant/bar. On the positive side, location and views excellent with loads of potential but unfortunately the current management have done zero to maximise the potential they have. On our visit the food was nothing short of appalling. — it arrived in staggered fashion so people had finished before others food had turned up.
— the provenance was poor, meat tough to eat and fatty. Clearly cheap cuts.
— the preparation from the 'chef' would lead me to question whether the chef had ever cooked anything
— the meat glaze was water
— the veg curry was powder
— the belly pork was like rubber
— the nuggets were akin to bullets The waiter was a really pleasant guy but clearly could do nothing as the whole place had two staff, namely the chef and waiter. Most drinks were not available and what was was flat or tasteless. My recommendation would be to exit the chef immediately to save the place and upgrade the management in short order. It is not good enough and very sad.

We stopped here after attending the eisteddfod and was amazed to find a male choir practicing in the bar. Great night and all very friendly. Good carpark. Look out for the moose and owaine the parrot.

Good selection of local beers and drinks. Nice outdoor seating and small playpark. But there is no atmosphere here, the food portions and pricing aren't great eg. 2 chicken goujons for £5.95.

Good camping site. I just had to leave early as I couldn't set up my tent haha. Brilliant site though and nice location.

Delicious Sunday lunch. Excellent food and service. Hotel in a lovely position. Well maintained gardens.

Creaking floors, loud clicking pipe work, heating was switched off in the evening just as it was getting cold. The bathroom is 80’s. The evening meal and breakfast portions small. Middle aged woman taking Breakfast order was extremely unfriendly, incomplete meal served had to ask for remainder could hear her in the kitchen complaining about me asking for it. The atmosphere was so silent no background music neither in the evening or morning. All the other quests where whispering or silent. There was lots of outside seating none of the previous evenings glasses had been cleaned up 24 hours later, which by now had the next day’s glasses packed on the table which had also not been taken away from that day. There was no room on any of the tables to actually use them. Not worth a return.

The place is nice, service available, comfortable but cold rooms, one room has sloping beds.

The food prices are extremely high and the food quality is poor, despite having a huge sign saying excellent food. The service was also not that good. £25 pound for two meals you can in most chain pubs for £10. £25 included drinks.

Had a wonderful stay, anyone leaving negative reviews must actually be insane.

Abbey Grange is a nice hotel in stupendous countryside. The comments of the party who visited last September are very unfair. It is not a grand place, but it is clean and comfortable and we found the staff unfailingly helpful and friendly. The food is in the honest country fare rather than gastropub style, but freshly prepared and using plenty of local ingredients. The views out over the Dee valley are superb, and there is superb walking in every direction. Dogs are welcome, and children would enjoy the playground and the farmyard animals next door.
