Big rooms, very helpful staff and very central. Pool and gym is nice too!

I loved this hotel — the employees were really helpful and kind when my partner wasn't well and were lovely with our two girls (2 and 5). The room was lovely and spacious, the pool was easily accessible and the girls loved being able to swim in the evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Amazing hotel, friendly staff and fab afternoon tea! Will be back for sure!

Very little Christmas atmosphere! The bar and Mayflower room had no Christmas decor! Food at best average, best thing of the night was the friends with me and the Disco, very disappointed, as I have been many times at other functions at this hotel and have always had a great time.

Nice welcome. However my towel had a yellow stain all down it was embarrassed as people may have thought it was me. Facial was lovely however when I asked for advice on my skin was told to exfoliate which I do and get advice from a dermatologist. Thought some basic advice would have been nice. Jacousi was lovely heat but blast was rubbish. I have a bad knee and hoped it would help but no. Swimming pool ridiculously cold. Lunch was lovely buy did take 2 +hours. A bit longer than anticipated. Buy again was very tasty. All in all ok but not the experience I expected and it was for a friend's 50th birthday so dissatisfied and won't be back again.

I paid for the Classic Spa Day for me and my partner as it was his birthday. The facilities were clean, presentable and all in working order. The staff were incredibly friendly and informative. The afternoon tea was really tasty and our massage and facial were amazing. Would definitely come again.

Cruising from Southampton DON’T STAY HERE:We arrived at 14.55 check-in was shown as 15.00hrs. No room available. Told to take a seat. At 15.30 informed your allocated room is still unavailable BUT have found you a room next door. Checked the duvet and found made of polyester. At time did not check mattress. If you stay here make sure you check your mattress before you attempt to sleep in any bed here. I only checked mine in the morning and found it to be totally urine and human fluids/waste marked. Looked both sides and yes, both covered in stains and marks. Then checked the other bed mattress (twin room) that too, had equally abhorrent dirty filthy stains. Took our pictures to talk with the duty manager who informed me she was the room’s manager. Asked her to explain why she would expect any of her guests to sleep on a mattress that was so clearly past its serviceable use by date. She said that as long as the mattress protector was on top of the mattress then she felt it absolutely correct to allow guests to sleep on a dirty soiled mattress. I informed her for me this was unacceptable for a 5 star hotel, she replied we only have 4. She also informed me that it was no longer a De Vere company hotel and was now privately owned and a refurbishment plan had been put in place to eventually replace the twin room mattress in due course.

Stayed there with partner and granddaughter, it's a nice hotel, good location if you like cruise ships, amazing to see go by. The staff we're pleasant and helpful, food was good. My granddaughter loved the pool, couldn't get her out, but she was very happy and that means a lot to me. The hotel could perhaps do with a good clean in places, I'd love to go back some day, Southampton is a lovely historic place to see. Four stars are because it needs a good clean. I'd recommend it still, despite the cleanliness.

Lovely hotel. Comfortable, clean and mostly friendly and efficient. I wasn't too impressed with the waiting staff at breakfast. The chef was very helpful with my dietary needs. No one approached us to ask if we wanted tea or coffee. When I asked for soya milk I felt it was too much trouble to even look. Generally quite poor service.

Four of us went for a half spa day using Groupon voucher. We basically got what we paid for. The swimming pool was ok but it clearly states no ball games so a couple of teenagers playing ball in there… the sunny end of the pool is tired and in desperate need of some tlc… paintwork is peeling off and is an eyesore. Sauna and steam room are ok but the Jacuzzi is rubbish. No bubbles at all. There is no atmosphere at all around any of the spa facilities. Steam and sauna are hidden away from the pool and the whole place needs a refurbishment and freshening up. Treatments were ok but the therapists were a bit like robots. Did the treatments and that was that
Not a lot of personality shone through. Cream tea was ok but nothing special. Proseco was flat and coffee well brewed. Not what you really expect in a Marco Pierre white restaurant. All in all average for the price we paid but would've been cross if we'd had paid full price for really what was a rather disappointing half day spa. Would not recommend…

I treated my partner to a spa afternoon for his 30th on Friday the 27th in what I thought was one of the better hotels in Southampton. The spa facilities are not spa facilities at all! The pool was freezing, to the point I couldn’t get in. I asked a member of staff why it was so cold and she replied it was 29 degrees and walked off swiftly and rolling her eyes. Local ladies using the pool agreed it was much colder then normal and unbearable to be in for long and my partner only lasted a few minutes. The jacuzzi was also out of order in our free time in the spa (it was fixed for the last 5 minutes we were there but obviously become over crowded quickly with people trying to make the use of one thing working) the steam room was out of order aswell. So we had use of the sun beds which had a view of peeling paint and dirty ceilings and then the Turkish sauna. The staff in the restaurant were very offish and unfriendly, the staff at the spa weren’t particularly warm either neither that at the front desk when asking for directions. The ladies and gent in the salon were much more welcoming and The only part of the experience that saves this being a 1 star was the massage. Very disappointed.

We went here to eat in the restaurant for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious and very well presented. We had a lovely evening, the restaurant has a calm atmosphere and our waitress was really helpful and friendly. It's not far to walk from the station and the hotel itself looks really luxurious inside.

Excellent staff and service. Good room and comfortable bed. Restaurant, Marco Pierre White, menu. Good buffet breakfast. Transfers to and from cruise ship and up to 15 day free parking. Would recommend.

Booked a night in this hotel (26 May) prior to going on a cruise. We used our Red Letter voucher towards the cost £249 for one night. We selected this hotel particularly for its Spa and leisure facilities which I Have to say was extremely disappointing. The Spa itself, with its treatment rooms and facilities appeared rather plush and the massage treatment received was very good. However, the sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and pool area were appalling. The steam room, sauna and shower rooms were separate and outside the Spa, positioned on a mezzanine floor. The shower room was out of action and cordoned off with tape and in a particularly bad state, the steam room was horrendously dirty, stains on the walls, with tiles loose and some fallen and left on the floor. We walked in and straight out again for fear of contracting something unpleasant from it. The sauna room seemed to be in a manageable state, yet outside, a sign stated that it would be going under construction but there was no mention of the other two rooms being updated. The spiral stairway leading down to the pool on the lower floor was slippery and rusty looking and the decor above the pool was in dire need of attention, with large blistering and flaky paint, really unappealing to look at when trying to relax on a lounger. A separate Jacuzzi which was set on a 10 minute timer, when in action pathetically bubbled.

I purchased a spa day package including lunch at Marco Pierre White within the hotel as a gift for my sister in law for her birthday. Every touch point would have been laughable (if it had not been such a special occasion we were trying to celebrate). Unfriendly welcome at reception, disorganized, the least "spa like" ambiance you can imagine. Cheap coffee machine and dirty tea bags on arrival (what happened to a glass of water and a slice of lemon? ), a greyish bath robe (that looked like it had been through the wringer (what happened to crisp white? At least the slippers were new), not a waft of incense, not a hint of zen. And then the facilities — no shower outside the steam room and sauna (it was just unbearable watching sweaty strangers sinking into the pool next to you, torsos dripping in sweat — unhygienic doesn't even cut it! ). Paint peeling off the walls (photos are not to be believed on the website! ), this spa is dated, tired and in need of a make over. Rust stains seeping down the walls, the most revolting (and bright — sadly, so you cannot wish what you see away) steam room I have ever been in. No magazines, no service (when asked if we could get a diet coke and a cup of tea to drink, I was invited by the supposed manager to go down to the hotel bar and collect them myself — in my spa robe! ). After expressing my shock and views on the establishment in no uncertain terms, he finally delivered the requested refreshments himself — in three paper cups).

The Good & The Not So Good *Prior to my stay the website info desk was very helpful in recommending a car service for my airport transfer and very responsive with all of my questions. What I liked: The hotel is centrally located and a quick cab ride to the Southampton Central Train Station. The hotel is 3 minute walk from West Quay Shopping Centre, dining and Mayflower Park is across the street. The beds were comfortable and rooms and bathrooms CLEAN. Although I was unable to secure an early check in as I arrived from the States on a 0750 flight; I could leave bags with front desk and being my exploration of Southampton. Breakfast was included in my room rate, I enjoyed the tea and croissants. Friendly front desk staff and dining room attendants. What I did not like: The hotel rooms are dated, whereas the dining areas are very modern. During my two night stay I was startled out of my sleep by the fire alarm, first night someone triggered it because they were smoking in their room and the second night someone accidently triggered the alarm. It was total chaos especially the second night and it was very frightening. Each time the fire alarm went off it occurred in the wee hours of the morning. Imagine being jolted out of your jet lagged induced sleep in extremely unfamiliar twice and it be a false alarm. During the fiasco no one manned the phones and many gathered in the lobby to commiserate.

Room was pretty good though my brother had some issues with his executive suite. Found the staff too efficient and they came across as a little unfriendly and abrupt. We spent over £60 a head in the restaurant and then wanted a night cap in the bar afterwards. We ordered the drinks, but it was so cold in the bar area that we had to move to reception with our drinks to be comfortable. We asked at the bar if they could switch off the air con as we were so cold but they agreed it was freezing but didn't offer to do anything about it. Drinks were also a lot more expensive in the restaurant even though our first drink was purchased in the bar and taken through. Same drink, same bottle of wine, from the same bar. Nearly double the price in the restaurant and took ages to come out. A reasonable experience throughout but expected better from a supposed 4 star hotel.

We have very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well maintained, clean and comfortable. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Perfect central location for getting about town. We missed breakfast, part of our booking package, our first morning due to oversleeping from jetlag. The staff were pleasant and more than accommodating and brought breakfast to our room as the dining room was closed. Pool and Spa area is absolutely first rate. No immediate plans to return to Southampton but if we do, we will absolutely stay here and I would certainly recommend it to family and friends.

We had a fantastic night at this hotel for a bargain price (I think because we dropped by late at night and they would rather fill a room). Cannot say one bad thing about it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you.

The building is lovely and the housekeeping staff are friendly. The breakfast was fine. Rooms are spacious clean apart from bathroom mirrors and in need of maintenance. Room service and reception don't seem to answer the phones when calling from your room. Bar staff clearly don't want to be there. Bar stock was extremely limited with a response of "we had a busy weekend" Pool area in need of TLC and maintenance as do the lifts. Staff training is also needed.

Large, spacious hotel with polite staff, good facilities and well located with great shops, restaurants, cinemas, etc nearby. Pricey parking at £10 per night but you can save £ if you opt out of housekeeping. Breakfast was basic and not hot. Overall atmosphere is plush and comfortable unless someones little darlings are running riot day & night. Room a good size, bed wonderfully comfortable, toiletries and tea/coffee facilities provided. Billing service questionable as I was incorrectly charged for silver tray room service whilst out with family! No idea what that was about but reception were good about removing items from my bill.

Just come back from a one night stay. Actually quite impressed to be honest. Reception and all staff very helpful and happy. Room was 3rd floor with a balcony and looked to have been recently updated. Comfortable sleep too. Pool was nice. Hot tub was hot but the whirl pool jets were very weak. Spa treatment was also good. We had a cream tea which was nice too. Breakfast was good. Hot and plenty of choice… the hotel is currently being renovated in some areas but does not cause any issues. Added bonus of free parking too. Overall I had a very nice stay and would stay again here…

Attended a conference here but didn't stay in the hotel (so purely rating as a conference hall / food) The suite had a nice layout with 3 halls which can be joined together into larger halls. The projectors in each were basic but did the job. The major downside was the cost of drinks, a fiver for pints and tenner + for doubles with mixer, £23 for a £7 bottle of wine. The food was fairly mediocre too. Overall slightly below average.

We (me and my boyfriend) went there for weekend getaway trip. Very very nice hotel, hotel is nice and clean, service is fabulous, especially spa receptionists did their best (We booked spa and afternoon tea package via Groupon and Groupon made mistake and didn't booked for us for spa and afternoon tea). So hotel didn't received our booking, however even though they are fully booked, the receptionist lady did her best and reported it to her supervisor to make it happen for us. We do appreciated that. Overall price is a bit high but fair with the standard of the hotel, we had lovely and good time while we were staying at hotel.

Loved the hotel. Excellent service and food in the bistro bar was very good. Can't give it five stars as I haven't stayed overnight yet.

Stayed here using a Groupon voucher. Enjoyed our stay here. Staff attentive and friendly. Room was clean and well stocked. Hotel seemed to be under renovation on some floors and looking rather aged in places. Had an excellent steak dinner here but had to wait some time for it to arrive. Used the pool and sauna whilst here unfortunately the jacuzzi was closed. I would stay here again but would recommend the short stroll into town for more variety in evening meal options.

We had a gorgeous afternoon tea here. The food was really lovely, especially the scones. Hotel is really well presented and the restaurant was spotless, as were the toilets. Staff were friendly, and didn't mind that we were held up with the traffic, so some of the party were late arriving. Would definitely return here for afternoon tea again.

Had an absolutely lovely time here. I came for a birthday spa and dinner and it was all lovely. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and it was relaxing all throughout. There were last minute things I requested but they were all very patient. The food at bistro was delicious and filling I would recommend this hotel for their treatments and amazing.

This used to be the go to 5 star resort in Southampton however it has now changed to a 4 star but sometimes feels like a 3 star. It has changed ownership several times in the last 5 years. They seem to have decided to become a park and cruise hotel catering for the numerous cruise terminals in Southampton. It has lost much of its charm and character. Originally it was built and operated by De Vere hotels. There is a private health club and gym but they also cater for budget spa days and this makes the pool crowded and unusable. People on spa, days are not shown how to use the steam and sauna so frequently they leave the doors open and complain that its too hot!

Great device by one of the head waitresses. Hotel was lovely to be in as we had a spa day which included breakfast and a treatment. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly. Spa treatment was good however little lacking in customer acknowledgement, the girl who gave me my treatment of back massage did not ask about pressure or best areas to work on. Generally the massage was good. There were plenty of free drinks including tea and coffee around rhe facilities which was good. At the end of our trip we headed downstairs for our free prosecco and were created with free warm brownie cake and Ice cream as my other half mentioned it was his birthday. Overall good experience, facilities and made it better with the head waitresses professionalism and service.

I have always wanted to stay at this hotel and it didn't disappoint. Service was impeccable and the food first class. One small criticism however. Could benefit from external cleaning (removal of cigarette butts from flower beds and on roofs etc. ) BUT still well worth visiting. Excellent location with brilliant views over Southampton docks.

My workplace held a Christmas dinner at the Grand Harbour Hotel. We had three course dinner, each course was amazing! The decorations and music are great too, as we had a live music.

Excellent location. Very close to the city centre. Very comfortable room. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast.

Stayed here as part as was in the area for work. Right next to the harbour but not fantastic views. Rooms are dependent of which ones. I had a problem with mine initially and then was upgraded to a really fabulous room. Staff: reception was really v friendly. Staff around hotel were was as well but I was particularly impressed with the manager who contacted me the very day I made a comment about a waitress in breakfast. Lastly about parking. There is V little parking available on site. I can't remember if there is a charge (? £10) but they drive it off and park it elsewhere but you can request a time for them to bring it back.

Room nice. That is where it ends. Had a meal in Pierre Marco Whyte… disgusting! Beef and Ale pie, nothing but fatty meat, short crust pastry. Tasted of nothing. Chips were supposed to be twice fried, but again tasted of nothing. My husband had beef burger with blue cheese melted on top. Cheese was hard burger dry and tasteless. Don't go there, please, if you want to have a nice time. TV in room, has very little reception. We managed to watch one channel.

Love the hotel, great staff apart from the dark haired woman at that bar, I asked for a pot of tea which me and my friends always get, she charged me £10 and I refuse to pay that money when we always pay £3.50 for a pot for 3. She was extremely rude, couldn’t understand what I was saying and will not be coming back when she is working. She didn’t give us mugs, sugar or milk in which we had to go and ask for ourselves and I am very disappointed.

Went with friends for a overnight spa break on 14th October, No Robes available in the spa, we were told we could have one the following day, so had to walk around with just a towel not very relaxing. The package included a 2 course dinner in The Marco Pierre White restaurant, the food was good but we waited an hour to receive our starters, then when the main course arrived only 5 out of six arrived after about 5 mins when it didn't arrive we asked the waitress she hadn't noticed that one was missing, the five had finished their meal when the sixth finally arrived. On the Sunday morning when we went to the spa to have our booked treatments still no robes, we were told they should have been in our rooms the day before this was different to what we were told on the Saturday. The Hotel on the Saturday was very busy and the spa did feel like a cattle market. We had a good weekend as we were friends and spending time together, its a shame that these little things spoil it. .

Rooms are nice, some have a great view of the sea. The location is good if you want to visit the harbour and is not too far from the university's Highfield campus. Service was excellent too, including meals.

Spent over a week trying to get through to the spa for my friends birthday. Kept having to speak to the main reception and even she said she has trouble getting through to them daily. It took a friend that I know who stays in the hotel a few nights each week to speak to them to be able to get us in contact with the spa, but only because he is a valued customer did they act hastily. By this point it was obviously too late to book the 'Spa Morning' and the treatment that went with it. We were told if any of the therapist wanted over time we would get a massage when we turn up on the day. When we got to the spa of course we were unable to receive a massage treatment and so we just paid to use the spa facilities. The only reason I haven't given it 1 star is because the new layout of the spa and the new pools are so much better than my last visit over a year ago. I would recommend you invest in a spa receptionist, never have I ever found it so difficult to book something.

Went for a Spa day. The first clue was on arrival, when we were given a 10% discount for the lack of robes. The next clue was the "Out of Order" sign on the jacuzzi. But the sauna was working, so it wasn't all bad. But the cold shower was also out of order, limiting the use of the sauna. After lunch was served with dirty cutlery (really, at a 4 star hotel? ) we went back down to relax by the pool, only to find it was being emptied by staff using an industrial vacuum cleaner. At this point we cancelled our remaining treatments and left, with a £10 token gesture from a very embarrassed receptionist as compensation. Totally unacceptable given the reputation of the hotel and the cost of the day.

Brilliant venue, brilliant events team. I have thoroughly enjoyed hosting and attending events here. Recommended.

Poor service. Half hour wait to buy bottle of water (£4! ) from the bar because there was none provided in our room. Checking in delayed and protracted, because room not ready at the time it was supposed to be ready, room shabby and not clean anyway. Food was good in the bar, but reports of very slow service in the restaurant were heard. Would not recommend this hotel.

Had a great stay. Stayed in a deluxe twin and was surprised how big it was. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean inside and out. Would definitely stay there again.

I was there for the Marco Pierre White restaurant launch night. Beautiful food and great service. They put on a really lovely evening and there were about 200 guests. Really good entertainment too!

Attended the hotel as a day spa guest for my sister-in-laws hen do. It was a lovely relaxing day, use of facilities, cream tea and spa treatment. I would give 5* but it would have been nice to be told upon booking that the hotel was under refurbishment, as well as the fact lots of groups had booked the same day as us. The hotel doesn't have enough sunbeds and chairs in the pool area for more than 1 group (there were 8 of us). Otherwise we had a lovely time when we did get a space and when there were no children screaming (actually more screeching as I could deal with just screaming), jumping, diving and bombing in the pool.

Disappointing really, the spa facilities (for the second time) were quite rough with elements taped off, the new jacuzzi (that was being built last time we visited) already had tiles missing which scratched your legs and the pool was too cold to be comfortable — the attendant tried to insist it was 39 deg c as he'd taken the temperature… Right in front of the hot water inlet! The room was good but the window was broken and would not close at all so both a safety and security issue and the air con did not work so room was very hot — the give away was that there was a desk fan provided in the wardrobe so obviously the air con fault was a long standing fault. Staff seen to miss the point on 'the experience', not up to the star rating it has and testing on its laurels unfortunately.

Terrible experience at the DeVere Grand Harbour Hotel yesterday. My wife and I had booked a room back in May, for a special occasion last night. We arrived at the hotel yesterday, only to be told they had no record of a booking. The reception clerk did have a note that our booking was with a different hotel! Where this came from, he was extremely vague about. This second hotel was totally unsuitable and our visit to the city had to be cancelled. However, after checking with the hotel that the Grand Harbour referred me to, they confirmed that the booking they had was made by the Grand Harbour four days previously! Thus the comment that there was no record of a booking for me at the Grand Harbour was obviously a lie, which I surmise was to cover the fact that they had over-booked their rooms. There was no offer of a refund or apology offered. This, I feel is a totally dishonest action by the Grand Harbour, which I assumed was a reputable hotel and I see this as being a breach of the contract with them. Surprisingly, for a hotel of this stature, there was no duty manager on site to justify their actions or to agree any refund! We are now over £200 out of pocket, not to mention the frustration and disappointment of having to cancel a pre-arranged visit.

If going to take a cruceronque out of southampton is very good option be is there since this to 10 min of the port walk.

Large upscale town hotel, good business facilities, relaxed atmosphere, great amenities, good location for all town based activities, very close to Red Jet for Isle of Wight travel.

Went for a spa day. It was very enjoyable and relaxing, with very friendly staff. The facilities however were a little lacking. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants to relax locally.

Was a beautiful hotel with all the expected amenities of a high quality. My view wasn't great but the room was a really nice size and desk was good. Bed and pillows were a bit too hard for my liking. The breakfast was really good; full English, freshly baked pastries were really nice, couldn't recommend the breakfast and service enough there. Staff very friendly and polite too. All in all pretty happy with my stay.

Our experience was not good. I felt we were being ostracised because of being with Secret escapes 1. Reception staff unfriendly. 2. When I asked for a quite space to read, was told only the bar area. The library was for elite guests only. 3. Food mediocre at best, breakfast always cold. 4. Bar busy, staff not coping. When a manager came to see what was happening. She chided the staff and told them they needed to get organised and walked off. 5. Asked for a topper, none available, was told they would send me up a duvet instead. This never came. We stayed on the 29th and 30th of March and will never return. Joy Gerken.

A more upscale hotel, not one that ignores the normal person. Everyone is treated well, the rooms are very nice and well looked after. The front of the building is very impressive when lit up at night. A perfect place to stay before going on a cruise! You can see the ships from the windows.

A nice high end hotel. Odd in appearance with its glass pyramid. The food is very good and the staff polite. Great if you are going on a cruise, you can see the ships from your balcony.

Reasonably good hotel. The rooms were nice but bathrooms were a little tired. Breakfast was good however we did have to queue for about 5 minutes for a table. Within walking distance to the shopping centre, IKEA and some decent pubs. Plenty of parking but it costs £10 a day. Pool was OK as well. Would happily stay there again.

Booked this to stay before my cruise, it is lovely from outside, reception staff were helpful, let us check in a little early, my room had no view but it was only one night, the room was lovely, clean tidy, bathroom floor tiles had a crack in but apart rom this very nice, I'd def stay again. My only issue was the bar staff, verging on useless, one lad as we walked in was finishing serving a customer, made no eye contact or a be with you in a minute, when he did come over, slow uninterested and very aloof, this is a customer based job "smile", later on one person took my drink order and poured another took money I was then left ignored and had to ask for my change, it all just seems an effort for them. I'd stay again as I said but please sort the bar staff out, I was going to eat in the resturant but cancelled as this put me off.

Spa day rather disappointing. No where to hang towels/robes had to put them on dirty floors. Treatment disappointing (massage). Swimming pool really cold. Jacuzzi seemed underpowered and 15 minute rest time between was too long. Light lunch was nice, waitress was polite. Sauna and steam rooms too small to accommodate everyone wishing to use them.

We didnt stay there we went for an afternoon tea experience. The afternoon tea was really nice and quite good value even the dinner was really quite surprisingly good value. However the whole experience was completely let down by the service. The waiter was quite rude to us and left us with the menu for over 15 mins. I finally just got up to walk over and order but he waved me back down and was quite intimidating when we ordered we felt more like an inconvenience rather than guests. If it was busy we would understand but it wasn't there were around 5 people in the restaurant with us. When the food arrived again the waitress that gave us our food snapped anything else? And when we said no thank you she just walked off. Then around 10 mins after we finished we again were not attended to. So we could have easily got up and left without paying which we. Were quite tempted to do as we were ignored at the bar when we went to pay as well. Definitely would not recommend this place.

Pleasant enough, although some amenities appeared to be missing and breakfast was too greasy overall. The staff were generally happy and helpful. The room was OK, although the duvet was tucked in so tight that it might as well have been attached to the bed, the view across the flat rooftop was bleak (with the exception of the seagulls roosting directly outside the window) and the door offered nothing in sound priofiny: conversions in the corridor could be heard perfectly from the bed.

I went with my girlfriend on a spa day, overall the day was good; but the facilities were in a poorer condition than I expected and there were more people there than they could realistically expect to comfortably accommodate. We had a cream tea which was very nice, but we also had a sausage bap for lunch and one of them had mould growing on it.

I've stayed in Premier Inns a third of the price and had better rooms and facilities. The shower swings from cold to scalding, the service makes Basil Faulty look professional and now there is a leak in the bathroom ceiling. I'm not impressed.

Beautiful rooms, lovely hotel and friendly staff. Great service in the bar/restaurant. Good food. Spa and swimming pool facilities good too. Gym is good. Well distributed but a few niggles with sign posting. Otherwise great.

Easy to get to and park the car. The staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. The room was a good size. Unfortunately the room could have done with a good dust as could some of the wall structures and large plant containers in the main dining area.

Most noisest hotel I have ever stayed in. L am writing this review as I cannot sleep because of the noise from the adjoining room, the ladies in question our doing nothing wrong but enjoying themselves, but the problem is our rooms have adjoining doors and the noise resistance is nil we can hear their conversation word for word. We have complained and we were given another room but same problem television in adjoining room was on and very loud and the occupant was snoring very loudly again not his fault, so we have returned to our original room hoping that the ladies run out of steam soon. Out son is at university in Southampton and we will be down to visit him again and one thing is for certain we will not be staying at the grand harbour hotel ever again. L must just commend the night receptionists efforts in trying to help us NEVER AGAIN.

Excellent facilities, the check in was fast and welcoming. Our rooms were large and the balcony was perfect for our pre dinner drinks in the sun. Dinner delicious and really accommodated the grandchildren well. Taxi transfer smooth and stress free. The conceige staff worked so hard and should be commended for the way they handled hundreds of luggage pieces and people. Overall a wonderful start to our holiday. Will certainly stay again.

This is a Relatively expensive hotel. The location is ideal for the cruise ports but otherwise it doesn't have much to recommend it for the price. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished although the air con is useless. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The food is ok, the evening meals are very ordinary and over priced. Overall it is a satisfactory hotel, nothing more.

Our luggage was delayed getting to us by the airline. I want to thank the concierge desk for all their help with phoning Virgin Airlines and getting our luggage to the hotel and getting us to the ship in a timely manner. They diplomatically "twisted arms" to ensure our luggage got to us and then arranged immediate transport to our ship. The hotel was situated in a very good location for sightseeing before our cruise.

Having been bought a Grand Spa Day for this Spa as a birthday treat, it was certainly far from Grand. The only thing which was good was the lunch. Mis booked appointments, dirty towels with mascara on them, left cold with no towels during a massage and the worst massage I have ever had. Locker rooms tired and unloved and the whole experience disjointed. I didn't even stay for my facial. Follow up with management non existent, and still waiting for a response 1 month after being there — shocking.

5 star l don't think so. What a shame this was supposed to be the start of a fantastic holiday leaving from Southampton on a cruise on the Sunday, just a one night stay. The staff were charming but never did what they were asked and promised to do. We had a cot in our room which we asked to have removed, "yes of course" never was, still there when we checked out. We asked for a telephone in our room, "yes of course" never did. The fire alarm went off walked down to reception, no phone to check, to be greeted with a puzzled look a quick phone call followed by a sorry don't know why but all OK. Booked a table in the restaurant for the Saturday evening, what a disaster. Waited nearly an hour for starter, 1/2 for our mains, didn't wait for desert. The food was awful, we did complain only to be told by very embarrassed staff who again were very pleasant "Its a new chef" What a terrible excuse. We were given recommendation to stay at this hotel, l will not be passing this on to anyone else. Everyone one around was complaining, the couple behind us waited 45mins for their coffee. Can't blame that on the Chef! Something drastic needs to be sorted out to what is a beautiful looking hotel with great travel connection.

After booking a luxurious hen do for a close friend, I was appalled at the treatment we received from such a 'reputable' establishment. They didn't greet us or show us round, in fact we were left loitering for a long time. They'd booked another hen do onto the same day who were given champagne, fresh fruit, seats and priority over the relaxation room. When we were finally directed towards the pool and spa, we discovered that it was mainly closed to building works currently taking place — it is not relaxing to hear drilling continuously. As if that wasn't enough to make us question the absurd amount we were paying for this day, two of our group were refused treatments because the staff 'ran out of time. ' It was a completely unacceptable day for such an important event and I doubt very much whether any of our group will return.

A very elegant and relaxing atmosphere, staff were extremely helpful and kind. I stayed at the hotel as it was the venue for the LLAS conference and was very pleased with my experience. Highly recommended.

Now under new management 1.1st impressions not great — discarded cigaret on floor of lift! 2. No kettle in room, stff asked what we had done with it! 3. Dinner great food when it arrived. Th original lady server very attentive, sadly the server of the Chateau briand not very friendly, not enough plates for five. Forgot or did not collect the side orders 4. Wine waiter average but lost interest 5. Service slow due to wedding They are not maintaining standards Premiere inn rated much better.

Did not stay in the hotel but attended a formal evening function and dinner here. Quite impressed with the decor and attention to detail. Pricey, quality food as was expected. An attention to detail showed a competent and thorough events management who knew what they were doing. For a large event with over 200 guests everything went flawlessly, despite what seemed like a shortage of staff everyone was tended to and no one waited more than a moment for their meals. Drink prices were absurdly high, rivalling even some top London venues in cost. Recommended if expense isn't so much an issue.
