Myself and my mum had such a lovely time here on Sunday. We sat out in the gardens in the sun and it was beautiful. So relaxing and the afternoon tea was amazing. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The food was served quickly and nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely be returning… probably a lot more! A gorgeous place.

Although I would recommend this hotel for a lovely setting and great food, the reception we received upon arriving in the bar for a quick bite to eat was not the best. A frosty reception in the bar area and food taking 45 minutes to arrive (with drinks at 20 minutes) — not really a quick bite to eat.

I won the bee competition, Afternoon tea for 4, so I went to book it and decided to take some friends as well, well what a to do!
Just booking it took goodness knows how many e mails with me been asked to put a deposit down at £5 per person There was 11 of us, because they said it stops food wastage I said we will order when we get there so no food wastage, as the children weren’t eating afternoon tea and would want something else, I didn’t want sandwiches that were prepared anyway, he said they make it fresh which when we arrived and asked for sandwiches without butter or margarine they said we’ve already made them so they aren’t fresh at all. Then when we arrived promptly at 2 as advised we had to wait for half an hour for our table to be laid, we then ordered the children some club sandwiches one of which was without tomato this took an extra half to come after all the others. My friends got their afternoon tea for two which was very sparse compared to other afternoon teas that I’ve had, I had won afternoon tea for 4 I had to wait nearly an hour After my friends for mine because they forgot yet when it came it was the same as my friends who had ordered afternoon tea for two?! It wasn’t any bigger it was two extremely small sandwiches of 4 different varieties not even a full slice of bread they were very small, very dry cakes, again not even a mouthful two macaroons and a very small lemon pudding with a very small scone. Absolutely appalling!

Have stayed here on multiple occassions as part of my study course with Manchester University. Rooms are a bit small, but the cleanliness and service quality is very good. Good breakfast/dinner.

For the price you pay, the room is very decent. It is very modern and clean, the room also had a TV and a device that was similar to a mobile phone that worked within the hotel which was quite handy. Location wise it is right next to University of Manchester student accomodation so it is very ideal for friends or family visiting fellow students. It is also a minute walk from the Armitage Centre which is a gym as well as a conference centre occasionally. It is a 5 minute walk from the closest bus stop which will take you into the city centre and within walking distance of many places such as food takeouts, bars and a supermarket. Overall an ideal place.

Lovely hidden gem. Set in it's own private grounds. You forget that it's so close to the city once you're in here. It's so peaceful. The rooms are small but perfectly equipped with everything you need. The shower room is spotless. If you're lucky you may meet Vera, the lovely Greek, Cypriot lady who waits tables. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be back.

Attended for a work away day. The room we were in was very small for the number of people with no room to move around (table took up the whole room). The venue was full on the day, otherwise we may have had a choice of better rooms. Food was nice and the staff were lovely. Whole place was quite cold though. Didn't stay over night.

Room was a rad small and dark, but okay for an overnight stay. Staff were brilliant, corridors and hallways just felt very conference like, would be nice if interior decor of the room we stayed in followed into the main building. Gardens were beautiful.

Very surprised, I thought this would be more old fashioned but it is a bright modern and airy hotel. Rooms are clustered around little circular halls that do away with the long corridor often found in hotels, very comfortable, will use again.

The hotel is on the University of Manchester south campus, which is a bit of a journey from the city center, though easily accessible by bus. I attended for a professional conference and was pleased with the refreshments. It was nice to be able to eat and have coffee outdoors in the lovely and spacious garden area.

Went to a conference at this venue. I could have gone there to a wedding and been happy as a guest. Could have gone as a couple for a stop off to somewhere or a family get together. Venue nice, staff nice and food nice. Would and am going again this summer.

Modern hotel in one of Manchester's university neighborhoods. Friendly service and great facilities. Only downside was that the room was a bit warm during the night. But then we didn't ask for a fan.

Excellent value considering the location and large room size. The parking and surrounding grounds are really good.

Friendly and helpful staff. Bright and clean building. Easy to axess by bus from any of the Manchester stations.

Very good hotel to stay, nice environment, facilities very good, perfect location, the was nice for breakfast, viewing from the room is amazing. Friendly workers, easy to check in and easy to check out, highly recommended and definitely, I’ll come back again!

Room was nice but very small, shower leaked onto the bathroom floor turning it into a small swimming pool. Toilet had already been used/not cleaned when we arrived. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was simple but nice. Although the hotel does have some nice grounds you cannot see them when you arrive, leave or walk around the hotel so they don't really feature in the stay.

Really good, modern facilities for the conference I went to. Great food, friendly staff, very fit for purpose.

Pleasant hotel with great modern facilities that are far superior to large chain hotels. I had a small room but a large stylish ensuite.

Decent hotel. Had an issue with the room when we first checked in. Picture of room didn't match so they moved us without too much fuss. Breakfast is buffet style and generous.

Really nice clean room although as the pipes to the radiator were exposed even with the radiator off the room was still far too hot. The menu offered a great range of food, although it took along to time to be brought to my table it was really nice. Shame about it not being table service. Breakfast again was good, a selection of cold pastries, yogurts and fruit and a full selection of a full English breakfast which was tasty.

Beautiful rooms and a relaxing setting providing great value for money. Perfect for away days, conferences or just an escape. The grounds around the hotel are lovely, you feel more like you are in a country hotel than close to the city centre. The staff are excellent as is the food.

Very, very pleasant experience. All staff would greet us with hellos', good mornings and goodnights and were extremely polite, helpful and kind. The building itself is beautiful and we couldn't have asked for more. The entire building smells fantastic and is very clean "to a layman" and the hotel room we stayed in was extraordinarily clean too. Negative reviews I read speak regarding the size of the rooms and sound proofing. All I can say is; the room itself is not huge, but it is effective and I'm not sure why you would need a huge room in the first place — people shouldn't be using hotels to dance within. The room we stayed in had a very comfortable bed, a wall mounted adjustable television, a kettle with tea/coffee/complimentary biscuits and a desk with chair. It suited us to the ground, and the bathroom was great — the shower was absolutely divine and we had no complaints. As for the sound proofing, we stayed during a relatively quiet period so we cannot comment, but I can imagine it causing some issue, though I could be wrong! All in all, we really, really enjoyed our small stay and were very impressed with the room price, convenience, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff, as well as us believing the room quality was superior to the price. Thank you! We will be there when we're travelling again, and will certainly let our Swedish friends know to use you between journeys when visiting us!

Stay for a week. And I overall I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was good room was nice and broadband it's free.

Really friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms, great food. Manager was extremely helpful when we left behind my son’s favourite toy. Would recommend highly as alternative to the expensive hotels in the city centre.

All good. Clean, smart, very good breakfast and dinner, Wi-Fi worked. Only downside was the desk was too close to the bed so it was a bit squashed.

Generally nice stay, there was one thing about the room which was unacceptable but easily solved by myself. fyi. Sick and piss in the toilet when we got there. On checking out I tried to give the front desk a heads up on things not quite being to standard. I'm not sure what happened after that but somehow I got dragged into some sort of complaints procedure which at the end of, 3 days later, the out come was still the same. Computer said no — you didn't come tell us. So somehow managed to waste not only my time but theirs as well. I'm honestly baffled at what has just happened! I never had an experience like it.

Me and my friends had booked in for afternoon tea. We had such a lovely time, we sat outside of the lounge bar and enjoyed our meal in the sunshine and the glorious grounds. They catered for all our needs, Gluten free and vegetarian. The meals prepared in advance were absolutely delicious, couldn't fault the food. The staff were lovely and made it a pleasant experience. Only one thing that would have been a good thing to know prior was that, it is made in advance. Just in case you would want to change your mind on your food. All easily accessible by pram and wheelchair too.

Absolutely super service. From phoning to change a booking. Checking in early. Extra request for milk for the room arriving quicker than I could have got yo reception. Great food.

Have stayed here many times and always been happy with the service. The rooms are well appointed and clean with the hotel boasting a spacious and somewhat hidden garden. There is also an appropriate amount of free parking in front.

Staff were very welcoming. Standard rooms are a little on the tight side but reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent. Lovely frontage, but the interior and rear entrance feels a bit like a generic motel-type hotel.

Tiny rooms, dirty carpets, scuffed walls and a window that doesn't open. Strange layout means negotiating a labyrinth to actually find the room. Grossly overpriced and not a whole lot positive to say about the place other than the water pressure was good!

The service was great. The room was about too small for the event but that was a booking issue on are side of things. Food was nice, we had a buffet which was warm when presented and very tasty. Staff where very responsive to requests and offered a good range of alternative options if requeste could be for filled. Over all it was a good experience.

Good central location with ample parking and excellent food whic is let down by basic small rooms with old floor furnishings and bathrooms that might do with a little bit more decor. Would I stay here again — yes. Would I stay here again if I had a slightly better budget — no.

Went here as part of a staff meeting. Facilities in the Flowers conference area are very good, and the staff were friendly.

We were there for an AU conference. Absolutely lovely.

Small room which was too hot even with radiator off and window open. Complicated lay out for whole hotel. It was difficult to find the room. Service was good. Breakfast was ok.

Review from Deborah and David Halicki We had our wedding in July 2012, our special day was made extra special due to the excellent attention to detail of Liz the wedding co-ordinator, Eric Master of Ceremonies, and Manesh who managed the evening reception. Nothing was too much trouble for them, our guests commented upon and complemented the professionalism and expertise not only provided by Liz, Eric and Manesh but also the Hotel Staff, from the Chef to the waiters and other supporting staff who work within the Hotel. The food was absolutely outstanding, the wedding breakfast was gorgeous and the evening buffet (Roast Hog) was just unbelievable. Chancellors Hotel is a gem of a venue with beautiful grounds hidden away in Fallowfield and everyone wanted to know how we found such a wonderful place. It had been recommended by a colleague who had attended a seminar there previously and just as it was recommended to us, we can wholeheartedly recommend this venue to you, not only for your wedding but also as a hotel. The Bride and many guests stayed in the hotel the night before the wedding day and they all found the food and service provided to be excellent as well.

We had our wedding in June 2012 at Christie's Bistro, which is run by Chancellor's, and a lovely day it was too. Although I have to agree with the previous reviewer that Mandeep is totally useless, once we had switched to Liz as our wedding coordinator, everything ran smoothly and we were much happier! Liz and Adam, the manager at Christie's, were very professional, knew what they were talking about, could adapt to our wish for a non-traditional reception, and were able to answer all our questions. On the day itself, Adam was superb — on hand when we needed him to be, but never intrusive. The venue we had dressed with the help of the staff the day before looked spectacular and the food was absolutely top notch, we had so many compliments on it! Everything went smoothly and according to plan — we couldn't have wished for a better wedding reception. We would very much recommend Adam and his team for any kind of event, and Liz as a wedding coordinator. We can't wait to renew our vows in 5 or 10 years' time and do it all over again.
