Had the Mad Hatters afternoon tea, which was delicious. Although too many sweet things (a thousand calories) and not enough savoury.

Mad hatters cream tea was a disaster… over priced cream tea with dry sandwiches, stale cake, and a pidgeon flying over our head inside the tent with the most uncomfortable wire seats : — (£110 for 2 of us (alcohol free option) with a 15% service charge (to bring out a cake stand — not a bad little earner! ) very dissapointing. Won't be visiting again! lovely concept but epic fail in my opinion. Asked for feedback so was honest to waitress. Shrugged shoulders and walked off.

For an extra special afternoon tea then this is the place to go. Themed as the Mad Hatters Tea Party you will not be disappointed. They range from champagne afternoon teas to a regular one and all dietary requirements are met. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the items on the menus. I’ve been a few times now and it may be more expensive than other places but it’s worth every single penny.

Went for the mad hatter's tea party… To be honest I've had better (and cheaper) afternoon teas… Everything was far too sweet and rich. Couldn't finish it. The setting is nice and the teas were lovely but the cocktails and food were not up to scratch.

I have stayed at the Sanderson three times now and each visit has been perfect. Last time there was a mix up with rooms and I could not believe how accommodating the hotel was. The restaurant is great and they serve the best cup of coffee in town. Check out the purple bar in the evening for a cozy cocktail.

Had Mad Hatter afternoon tea and paid around £40 (with the afternoon tea week offer). First of all, I was surprised the appearance of the Sanderson hotel. It looks like 3 star cheap hotel. There is no doorman and reception room was funny but not modern. However the restaurant was good. There is an open roof cozy garden. Looks very cute and funny. The afternoon tea was great. Not only it looks cute and funny, but also really tasty. One of the most tasty afternoon tea I have ever eaten. My favourite was marshmallows. It was fruity and fluffy. If you are searching for good afternoon tea, this place is the best option.

What a fabulous spread my daughter and I had at your Madhatters Afternoon Tea last weekend. The most amazing thing is that my daughter is a coeliac and the gluten free version of the afternoon tea was simply outstanding. We have never seen anything like it! You should be shouting about your gluten free option really loudly as there is so little available like this for kids! Well done to the creator!

The Sanderson is rather lovely. The public bar is great if you want to see and be seen, but that's not what's great about the Sanderson. The rooms are a minimalist delight, the spa some kind of dream world, and the purple (guests only) bar a place of amazing mixologists and often the most unexpected conversations with new and interesting people. Pro tip — ignore the cocktail menu and just ask them to make you something interesting.

Recently had the Mad Hatters afternoon tea at £45 +15% service charge. Table setting was great, food was presented in theme and there was plenty of food. Unfortunately that's where the magic ended. Service was efficient, when someone was around. We were seated quickly and staff were happy to go through the dishes, but after the formalities were scarce on the ground. Setting: We were sat at a table that hadn't been cleaned properly — which I noticed when I got cream and chocolate on my sleeve. Teapots are showing wear and tear with one of ours having a chipped spout. Atmosphere: Apart from the table and the food design there was nothing to suggest a mad hatters theme. There aren't any decorations or staging suggesting the theme (although the flamingo garden is pretty cool) There is no background music in the area, which would be useful to soften the noise and maybe drown out some of the children running around the garden unattended. Food: As I mentioned earlier, the food was plenty and was presented in theme. However, the savoury food was quite bland and there wasn't anything to surprise or wow you with the food in general. An example of them missing a trick would be the mushroom sweets which looked amazing but could have done with the polyps being popping candy to give a surprise. Overall, at the price point, found the whole thing underwhelming and in need of a rethink.

I have just left Sanderson after spending the last 24 hours there for my birthday — spending the day in the Agua spa and then a few drinks in the Purple Bar and a night in my beautiful room — I can't thank you guys enough for exemplary service (as always! ) and making my stay very special indeed. I choose to come to Sanderson for my birthday every couple of years and I am never disappointed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it is just wonderful. Back to reality now at my desk at work, but with a bottle of champagne in my bag to continue the birthday celebrations over the weekend. Thank you SO much :)

This place melds swanky chic with artsy cool. It’s become my home away from home in the UK as I’ve been staying here for over 15 years. The Long Bar serves excellently executed cocktails & the room service is always tasty. The rooms are minimal but uber cool with all the right touches… if you can — get one of the larger rooms and you won’t be disappointed. Starck got the decor right on this one and it never seems to get old.

We had the mad hatters afternoon tea. The food was very good, presented very well. There was more sweet things rather than savoury. The service was average we waited a long time for initial drinks and the tea took over an hour. The staff could of been much more attentive we had to ask for more tea etc. It was a nice afternoon but for the cost I expected more.

Super sexy hotel. It has several lounges and quite amusing scent all over the ground floor. Its a hidden gym inside the city that takes away from the noise and immerse you in a sensual world that indulges every sense of yours. The rooms decor could be improved.

We visited for an afternoon tea. From the outside, the hotel doesn't look much but inside the are nice touches. I got the feeling the whole place could do with a clean new look. The food was nice although could have been a bit fresher — the sandwich bread was quite dry. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful trendy hotel and staff. They went over and beyond to make sure everything was going smoothly. Location was perfect for business and leisure. Highly recommend this location if your traveling to London.

I stayed at the hotel with my boyfriend for a week over new years and the entire experience was exceptional. Every single staff member was overwhelmingly helpful and courteous. The room was GORGEOUS — it is very spacious and the bed sits in the middle of the room. All interior walls are glass with retractable white curtains, which makes the room feel very large and luxurious. The food was exceptional. We ate at the Long Bar, had drinks at the purple bar, and also ordered room service. In each case, service was prompt and friendly, and the food both tasty and satisfying. For meals out of the hotel, we found the Sanderson Concierge team to be incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us to both not-to-be-missed London Staples, as well as lesser-known local favorites. You can't beat the location-it is perfect. A short walk to any of the West End theaters, fantastic pubs, and great shopping areas. Our stay at the Sanderson was one of the best, if not THE best, hotel experiences either of us has had in our lives. I have already recommended it to several friends and colleagues headed to London and will be sure to stay there again myself the next time I am in town.

Discreet yet friendly and helpful staff. Superior rooms are impeccable and larger than the standard rooms yet with the same design sacrificing practicality flaws typical of Ian Shrager hotels; poor lighting, shower stalls that flood bathroom, door handles so small you can’t actually use them otherwise the rooms are quiet, good quality, comfortable beds, fine linens, room service is quick, food is good. The so called “spa”, however, is quite a letdown, other than the fact that there is a steam room (which was not warm enough), a couple of massage therapists and some relaxation pods, (which are quite comfortable), there are no other facilities. The “spa” is clean and relaxing, yet the treatment rooms are separated by curtains so you can hear everything that’s happening around you. While the staff is friendly and efficient, the massage therapist did not take any of my requests into consideration and she just went through the same movements and sequence that everyone must receive and she completely ignored my requests. Did not get a chance to use the gym, yet it looks like it’s pretty well equipped.

I brought my mother here as a late Mother’s Day gift. On arrival my mother and I used the rest room and noticed vomit down the seat and on the floor. After telling a lovely lady at reception she kindly apologised and arranged for 2 glasses of champagne for us. Unfortunately after that the service wasn’t great. There were 3 waiters/waitresses when we got to the bar who were talking to each other in front of us whilst ignoring us in quite an unprofessional tone. Once escorted to our seat it was absolutely freezing (despite being inside) and at no point did anyone offer to take coats despite being told there was a cloak room? A gentleman in a suit (the only decent well trained waiter in the restaurant) explained all the teas and promptly got us hot chocolates to warm us up whilst we picked our teas. After ordering the teas we waited half an hour and when they eventually arrived the lady walked off without giving us any cups to put the teas in and there was no tea strainer so when we eventually found a waiter to ask for cups the tea had lots of bits in. We then watched a poor couple next to us get covered by the waiter in 2 glasses of champagne. Whilst waiting 45 mins for the afternoon tea to actually arrive we frequently had waiters asking if we’d ordered certain drinks (as if they had no idea where they were going and who all the drinks were for).

It’s an amazing hotel with a great character. The service is amazing and the rooms are well equipped. The staff have a good smiling demeanor which helps your time here. Highly recommended. The proximity to oxford street and Regant street is also great.

Great hotel near Soho, which I have stayed in many times. One of the first truly designer hotels in London by Philippe Starck, opened in 2000. I always remember the elevator starry sky, Dali's sofa and a picture of the Swedish artist on the ceiling in the room, which has now been removed. Cozy stylish rooms and my favorite long bar with wonderful cocktails. Attentive and affable concierge on the second visit always addressed me by name and foresaw my desires in advance. Excellent Agua Spa and Suka Restaurant.

Long Bar is great, cocktails are very good. But the service is hit and miss. I've been here many times and once they take your order they get the drinks prepared promptly. But you need to get their attention first. My last experience the bar was quiet but three bar staff were chatting and ignored me until they were ready. Also sit around the bar, don't sit at the tables as they rarely come to take your order.

Afternoon tea in the Alice in Wonderland style… expensive but also great…

Food was lovely. Our server was also great. Very helpful and informative. Hostess could have been a little more pleasant though. But overall fantastic.

Canteen set up but charged 15% service charge. No atmosphere. Food is mediocre. Mid winter in UK, ordered grill vegetables for starter but it was a cold dish. Should have asked if it should be a cold dish at the time or it was left to get cold before serving. My risotto main was just luke warm. The sweet non alcohol cocktail we ordered was very sweet and coated with sugar on the rim. We specifically told the waiter we could not take sugary stuff. Very poor level of service. Everything is poor in this place. The only positive was the door man greeted us warmly.

A totally epic hotel. Front of house are the best you can experience in London. The bar is excellent. The rooms are very good, not the best, but very good. But the staff make it. Totally recommend.

Absolutely lovely. We were given the "best seat in the house" which was a candle lit dark 'room' that had a curtain if we wanted to close it. Very nice and private meal. Great for romantic dinners or small birthday celebration.

Arrived promptly at 4.00 for reservation at 4.00 to be told table wasn't ready and would have to wait a few minutes. Which was ok to sit at the bar (I think this is a ploy to make you buy expensive drinks). The cocktails were lovely but not cheap you get what you pay for. I asked the lady if we would have time to have a drink and how long before our table would be ready. She said we had time for a drink and could move to the table when finished and it would all be ready. The food and cakes were lovely and nicely presented. The waitress explained all we would be getting. I'd done the £40 deal which includes sandwiches, cakes, scones, bottomless tea (any hot drinks) and a cocktail. All was delicious and there was a lot of it. The girl did take away the tea menu as I think she thought they'd had enough. We had to ask for her to bring it back so we could order more tea as we wanted to try them all and tea was free bottomless in the deal. The service charge was fairly high. But the service was good and I would do it again and recommend to friends. It's a quirky place with a fun atmosphere. If you want to spoil yourself or money's no object do it.

Just got back from an amazing nights stay, somehow we got upgraded to the penthouse. Wow what an experience thank you so much to all the staff at the Sanderson Hotel you helped make it a very special night. Highly recommend ❤️

I attended a friend's party at the Courtyard Garden and Long Bar; had a fabulous evening. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, polite and courteous. Everyone was made to feel welcome, and ensured we all had constant drinks and nibbles; we didn't want for anything. The decor was fabulous — and the cleanliness was of a very high standard. The restrooms were stylish, clean, but sadly up several flights of stairs; the accessible restroom was clean, quite roomy, but unfortunately it was very basic — disabled guests and visitors do like a bit of luxury as well, but as in most establishments, the accessible restrooms are always very basic.

The Mad Hatter's Afternoon tea was spectacular. Food was delicious but service was slow (Saturday afternoon so very busy). Did not affect our experience however. The cocktails and setting itself is truly special. Highly recommend.

The Sanderson is low key on the outside, but replete with modern opulence on the inside. The long bar is elegant, but the strong low level lighting isn't a flattering choice if you're trying to look your best for a date. The cocktails are an adventure, and luckily they come in a mini selection 'flight' if you want to sample them. The service is excellent, as you'd expect for the price tag. If the bar is too attention-seeking, there are more subdued corners, and the courtyard is perfect on a dry evening.

I have a tear in my eye every time I leave the Sanderson. It is by far the best hotel I've stayed at and I cannot recommend it enough. Besides it's funky boutique decor and great facilities, it also has the greatest staff who make you feel special and welcome. Cocktails are great and service is impeccable. I can't wait to come back!

Actually no point at all! Food was bad! In the restaurant it was as noisy as in a station hall and I sat in the Thread. But the coronation was that you did not accept my previous payment! I had to pay it on site a second time! I never see the money again! — > not recommended!

Came for the afternoon tea. Was quite nice. Tea selection is great, scones are amazing, but the dessert and sandwiches are average otherwise. If you have a sweet tooth the queen of heart cookie is great and the avocado cone is interesting. Decore and table is beautiful and worth the visit. Staff is incredible!

Ask for the Diavolo Martini and not the Diabolo. You will enjoy a spicy (with chilly) martini cocktail invested by the head of the bar.

Great modern decoration (according to my taste a little cold), there is a large room and friendly helpful staff. I was satisfied with the degree of detail to them.

Its a very comfortable hotel in all detail. We had a wonderful afternoon tea and the staff were attentive to detail. No complaints inside the hotel. The only point that is letting the hotel down is the door staff in as much that when we asked for a taxi they insisted that we use one of their minicabs which I don't think is actually theirs. They seem to be just regular minicabs and it would seem money is changing hands between the door staff and these drivers. We felt uncomfortable using one of the minicabs as from experience they don't tend to know where they are going. The management need to look into this assuming they are not endorsing it. Other than that it was a lovely day.

The hotel has multiple drinking areas, pool tables and places to hang out. Bar staff was knowledgeable and made great drinks.

Talking purely about the Long Bar (rather than the hotel itself), this place is like a sad joke from an episode of Ab Fab. Drinks are hugely overpriced and of pretty average quality. The bartenders were either inattentive or did the pretty much the exact opposite of our request (e. G. Bringing us a hot chocolate instead of the bill). The inner atrium is pretty but the atmosphere just makes it feel like somewhere extremely try hard from the 90s. It's hard to ever truly relax when you're expecting at any moment to see Geri Haliwell fall out of the toilets in a coked up mess with her skirt tucked in her knickers.

Nice cocktails and drinks selection however have been to better bars wouldn't go here again.

The Long Bar is a fab place to catch up with friends for cocktails and to people watch. The gorgeous adjoining terrace bar is also beautifully serene and and unexpected corner of zen minutes from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. I would say that drinks here are on the pricer side but it is definitely a London staple to check out.

I was treated to the afternoon tea here by my housemate for my birthday. As a lover of all things Alice and Wonderland I was very excited and had high expectations knowing the quality of this hotel. Overall? I think it's a bit meh. I was really hoping for attention to detail and something quite special but it just didn't have the wow factor for me in terms of the visuals. In terms of taste it was all very nice but pretty much your standard afternoon tea — though I must say the mini cheese toasties were absolutely delicious. I just think if you're going to do Alice and Wonderland you really need to go whole hog, popping 'drink me' on a bottle and putting a sugar paper butterfly on some banana bread does not a wonderland make. In terms of service this isn't the attentive service you might be used to if you go to a lot of afternoon teas in hotel. The staff are nice enough but you can wait a long time between courses and have to ask them to bring you more tea. This all probably sounds really prissy but I always compare afternoon teas to The Berkeley hotel which in my opinion is amazing as it is good value for money, the taste is great and the service impeccable. It is the rod with which I measure all afternoon teas and sadly the Sanderson falls very short. In summation, if you're going there for the theme? I wouldn't bother as you're likely to be disappointed. If you just fancy somewhere for afternoon tea? It's not the best but it's alright on the whole!

The Sanderson is probably best known for being a quirky, minimalist hotel in Central London. Though most recently it's added itself to the list of 'go to' places for Afternoon Tea. I took my flatmate here for her Birthday, after we'd both seen the photos of their cutely themed Alice and Wonderland tea. There are two options for seating, either inside the main restaurant or outside in their lovely little garden, which surrounds a pond. The latter I would suggest requesting to be seated in in warmer months — however, for those happy to brave the cool Autumn air the hotel does have outdoor heaters and blankets to keep the chill at bay. The afternoon tea itself is visually very pretty and does it's best to keep in theme with the fairy tale world created in the famous Lewis Carol book. Sugar comes in a sweet music box, tea descriptions on playing cards… each item of cake comes in various shapes — caterpillars, playing cards etc. However, it's probably not the best effort I've had in London. The ideas are well designed but I think — personally — the execution could have been a little more adventurous. A sugar paper butterfly on what is basically a tiny fairy cake and marshmallow mushrooms were a little underwhelming. The taste of each didn't exactly knock my socks off either, but I feel this may just be due to being spoilt at The Berkley where their tea is really beyond compare. It's the standard in which I judge every afternoon tea I visit now.
