Horrible place — no AC — no lift — not clean — not well maintained — old fittings everywhere — ironic name.

Room was on the 3rd floor the room size was 8" x 12" and not level so its on a slant so not even enough room to swing a cat in. There was no air conditioning at all. We were not provided with a fan to keep cool (In this heat). They do not provide breakfast or evening meal though judging by the scum in the bottom of the cups they've left for coffee and tea, you wouldn't eat from them anyway. The bedding was filthy and a good job I didn't have an ultra violet light as you and I can imagine the filthy stains left on the mattress the light would reveal I'm sure. So overall not a pleasant experience. We had tried to cancel but we're informed we would be charged a cancellation fee so be warned.

Friendly reception staff BUT! cleaning lady just popped in without any knocking in the morning and wasn’t even the check out time. Very inconvenience, small inconve shower room. Careful if you want to use the shower tab. It splashes all around the bathroom. Need to improve ur muscles if you want to open the closet.

Best massage I have ever had in my life. I left stress free and overly relaxed. Many thanks to the lady with magic hands!

Room stinks like an ash tray. And they state that rooms are non-smoking! Really can't stay the smell makes me nauseous!

This hotel is nothing like the photos! Room was filthy, everything needs updating. Not somewhere I would ever stay again.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel, I'd say more like a 2 star. Small, grubby and not exactly clean. Curtains didn't work properly, when I tried to pull them across they just fell on the floor. The bathroom was so small I had to step into the shower to close the bathroom door. Peeling wallpaper, damp patches, holes in the bed linen, showerhead hanging off, the list goes on.

Mouldy milk, small stuffy rooms, tiny bathrooms with very low hygiene. Would not recommend.

It's a little grubby but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good for the price. Warning no elevators. I do suggest they get a better ironing board.

Infested with bed bugs I have uploaded a video my friend has to go to the dr as she had been bitten so bad everywhere.

I booked to stay in this hotel for the weekend. Check in on the 2nd June and to leave on the 4th June. The hotel was advertised as a 4 star hotel. Entered the hotel and right from the off you could see how run down it was. No AC either which made the rooms very uncomfortable. 1st room we got was filthy. Toilet bowl with previous marks left in it. Light switches with thick dust indicating the room had never been cleaned properly in a long time. The second room was not …much better. A coat hanger stuck in the chandelier. So not exactly thorough check of the room. Shower head with growth on it. Same filth on the switches and sockets. If this is the cleaning standards it does not bod well for the bed etc. As a result we left the hotel within an hour. Shockingly your hotel still charged me for 1 night. A disgrace considering the place was barely fit to stay in. How it can be advertised as 4 stars in beyond me. Even if it was clean it could come up to that standard. I ended up staying in the Hilton Double Tree. Also a 4 star, but there are not enough stars available to fairly show the difference in standards. Yours Sincerely,

Too noisy, very small rooms, lots of stairs and dirty towels. I would not stay in this hotel again.

5 star Rudenes from staff and 0 star hygiene. Never go back to this ugly place.

Very small room up 4 flights of stairs. Kettle and cups in room but no tea or coffee. Shower covered in limescale so didn't work properly.

Lots of steep stairs to get to our room (which was pretty small) and the room was missing coffee and tea stuff (however the staff were happy to get some for us when we asked). Great location, and not too noisy at night. Staff were happy to hold our bags while we were out for the day, and were very friendly. Can't give it 5 stars as it's pretty basic and small, but it's great for a short stay in a convenient area.

2 stars because of price, otherwise it gets 1. When the room was 'cleaned' we weren't given fresh towels. When this was brought to the clerks attention he told us they were there, placed on a shelf in the bathroom, which we didn't have. He begrudgingly got us new towels, but it seemed like we were suspected of stealing towels. It was advertised as having air conditioning but it didn't. It was also advertised as having a breakfast for guests which it didn't. The bed had only a thin sheet over the mattress and a blanket; no mattress pad, no fitted sheet. The window didn't open without a great deal of force, which is an issue considering we didn't have any means of circulating air. The room was incredibly hot even though it was only 60 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The breaker popped when we plugged in our adapter. We've used this adapter and charger in the UK before so I know it isn't user error. The Wifi was terrible, to the point where we had to go out to the hall and down a flight of stairs to use it. Also the light switch to the bathroom on the ground floor is outside the door but behind the door… Don't make the mistake I made.

I had a short trip to London for narrow money. But the hotel did not work. Regarding the description, it's a four star hotel. But is has max two awarded. The hotel is outdated. The mattresses worn. The furniture was run down. One day the room was not made. On the second day they forget to give me new towels. On demand at the reception I got clammy towels. On the fourth day they were dirty. It was dusty. Mold in the bathroom and toilet. Hair (which I do not want to know) were to be found everywhere in the bathroom. I was surprised by the price (for a four star hotel in that location), but in hindsight was even this price for this service too much.

Terrible experience, no hot water, dirty floor, sheets, bathroom, no noise isolation (you basically hear everything your neighboor does). This hotel is a shame and should definitely close. About the staff: one girl was really nice, one guy was not happy to be there.

The pictures are not representative of the current state of the hotel. It currently looks in a state of disrepair and the cleanliness was not up to standard. Air conditioning was not available so the room was uncomfortably warm and the only access was via 3 flights of stairs. That being said the location is excellent and the staff / owner are very helpful. If you are looking for somewhere to stay for 1 evening and aren't too fussy about the appearance then Opulence is okay but otherwise it would be worth spending a little more elsewhere.

The hotel was disgustingly tired and dirty, it was in no way a 4 star hotel as advertised.

Made my skin crawl! On entering the front door my heart hit my feet. We trudged up to the first floor where we were told we had a twin room in the basement, which was bad news in itself, but then we were informed that there was a problem with the laundry service and that our room wasn't ready. We left our bags and returned a couple of hours later as instructed. We went to the room to find that it hadn't been touched since the last occupants which, again, made us feel sick and unclean! We complained to the Manager and wanted to cancel. He was apologetically blaming the laundry company and offered to upgrade us to a suite which he would show us first. It too was minging but on balance we thought it would be easier to take it for the 2 nights rather than risk getting home and finding he hadn't refunded us. The facts: Thick dust — The room hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long! Stains and tares in and on the soft furnishings and wallpaper hanging off the walls (cant blame it for wanting to get out of there though) Only 1 pillow each — didn't want to ask for additional pillows in case they took them from some other poor punter's room! Fridge you wouldn't put your enemy's food in! Kettle, cups and glasses but no tea or coffee!? Shower base was orange with rust from the tiles and generally unclean @My friend nearly scalded herself from the shower 'body jets' Bathroom floor is super slippery when wet and no mats. We had to use the one and only hand towel as a floor mat!

No staff, no Wi-Fi, no elevator, no warm water and dirty sheets! I have cancelled my reservation and I moved to another hotel.

After I booked this hotel through an agency I read the reviews online but I didn’t believe it, I thought people were exaggerating as I have lived in London before and I understand how everything is small and not always clean, so I decided to give a chance, well it ruined my vacation! Upon arrival the indian male at the reception was reasonably nice, but with 2 large suitcases and a 2 year old and a big husband he put us on the top floor without elevators, I decided oh well it is what it is. The room was extremely small; we could barely move around, the three of us were cramped! Bathroom very disappointing too, tinny shower. When we asked for extra toilet paper reception told us they didn’t have it and we would HAVE to wait til next morning so he could go buy it. My daughter dropped her toy under the bed, when I went to pick it up there was at least one inch of dust and clothes left by other guests under the bed! No remote control on the TV, no working refrigerator, little closet wouldn’t open, no ac, dirty sheets! The next day I decided to tell him that I wasn’t happy with the room, but that is it, I didn’t ask to change or refund but he instantly flipped on me! So I call the agency I booked with, and they called the hotel. When I got back to the hotel I was told by the reception that they would give me a refund for one night since I was not happy with the room but they also told me I was leaving the next day even though I had booked for 2 more nights!

Doors didn't lock. Taps that didn't work.

We were misled on free Wi-Fi and complementary breakfast. Small rooms, wallpaper peeling off, seemed mostly clean. Didn't have an elevator so we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs, very small. Staff wasn't very friendly or helpful.

By far the worst experience i've had in hotels anywhere in the world. Everything about is wrong, the rooms are poor, the staff are non existant. The only way i'd give establishment 4 Stars is if they opened a garage and sold leaded petrol. They advertise through Thomas Cook and half their claims are false.

This is my second stay after my first during summer 2009 and the least I can say is that I again found the hotle in an impecable state. Clean, elegant room with a very clean toilet, towels and bathrobe and highest standard soap, shampoo and bathfoam. Breakfeast was very good offering scambled egg plates, a full cheese platter and many other delicacies. I would certainly stay aain on my next visit to London and highly recommend it.

After the climb a narrow staircase bags the best London bed. A mattress Swedish tempur and pillows of the same material!
Thanks comfort. Large parts, large wardrobe, worst shower, small and poorly positioned, forces you to wet the bath every morning, a detail to the architect, is not so difficult to do better, maybe putting there a shower type phone congestion problem.
Staff very, very amble, a real pleasure in the basement breakfast every morning, a little secret in London.
