Astor Kensington Hostel Hostel

I did NOT like it. I arrived at mid-night, my bed was unavailable, I had booked regulary by website, but the hostel hasn't keep any bed for me. I Asked for another one but it was all busy. Receptionist told me: money will be refunded, but I haven't never had it again.

Clean and nice hostel in great location with the most helpful staff. Please sort out the computer though, its terrible ;)

Currently staying here. Clean hostel in a safe area surrounded by expensive hotels. Only reason I give it 4 not 5 is because there are lots of stairs with no lift and the room I’m in is at the front of the building so it can smell like smoke from the people outside smoking. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM HEATHROW HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO GET TO THE HOSTEL: Take the tube from heathrow (buy a single ticket at the machine with card or cash for £6) and jump on the first tube down the stairs on the right. Take the tube until EARL COURT, get off and go up the flight of stairs to an escalator and another flight of stairs, get on the tube on the left hand side and take it towards EDGWARE ROAD and get off at BAYSWATER. Walk out of the tube station (make sure to put your ticket in the machine again) and walk 3 mins to the hostel!

Best hostel in town. The staff is great, they are so fantastic. The accommodations arr great.

Great hostel. Amazing staff, the Mexican receptionist always a great help. The place needs a scrub down and an elevator as you might be climbing 200 stairs to get your room very often.

They got us a room on the 5th floor, there are no lifts, so, we have to get our luggage up the stairs up to the 5th floor. The room was incredibly hot, no AC and there's only a small window. Wouldn't recommend this hostel if you get a room above or on the 4th floor. Also there was dust all over the room.

Being right off of Queensway is perfect because it has easy access to tons of different food options and transport. The staff is super awesome.

Having previously stayed at the chains Victoria location I had a fair idea what to expect. Queensway is quite a bit smaller and they were doing maintenance on the hallways but the room was in very good condition and I lucked out with a room for six to myself for all three nights. Had forgotten quite how thin the single pillow they provide is, so be prepared to need something extra underneath unless you like a very low head position. I have some other nitpicks, but wouldn't be fair to go into excessive detail when I was overall very happy with my stay.

I stayed in this Hostel in March 2018. It has several rooms (some are female only, some have a private bathroom). It also has a large living room, a large kitchen area, a laundry room and a luggage room. The staff was super nice and helpful and the other guests were also very nice. The hostel is located within 5 min walking distance from 2 underground stations (queensway and bayswater) and several bus stops. It is also 3 min away from the beautiful Hyde Park. The hostel is located in a very calm street, but there are restaurants, supermarkets and many small shops 2 streets away, which is nice. It is also 25 min away (walking) from Portobello Road. There is a 1£ buffet breakfast option which includes toast, milk, tea, coffee, cereal (several types), butter, jams and chocolate spread, and all the money goes to charity. I really liked this Hostel and I highly recommend it.

This hostel is very well located, it is a very nice neighborhood close to Hide Park and has excellent transportation. The people are very friendly. I found it clean and its price-benefit ratio is agreeable.

Sadly there's nothing like a shelf place next to your bed and there's only one power strip in the middle of the room. Good thing: there's breakfast for 1£ (which goes to charity).

A very nice hostel with the most friendly and social staff. Though the stairs are literally breathtaking if your room is on th 5th floor, the room was really nice and really hot which, for me, is still main part of my London-experience ;) I've met great People there, some of them good friends now, who socialized and got together for activities.

You get what you pay for. Plus fantastic staff.

I personally didn't like this place. The staff was kind and helpful, and I think they were available 24/7, but my experience there wasn't great. I was in an 8-bed dorm room which had a bathroom within the room, but you couldn't turn off the lights so all night long the light was on and lit the room. Though the weather wasn't that warm, the room was and so were the sheets. I was sweating the whole night and didn't close an eye for three nights. The room was also too bright because the curtains didn't stop the light from pouring in. The hostel is located in a street full of hostels, so don't expect a quiet neighbourhood either. The other people, not only the ones in my own room but on otherfloors as well, were incredibly selfish (making noise in the middle of the night, turning on the lights when others are asleep etc. ) The toilet in the hallway didn't flush and there was no toilet paper either… All in all this was a bad experience for me.

Was kiscked out by the spanish manager for apparently taking all the room in the TV lounge. I wouldn't recommend this place where you have absolutely no freedom to do what you want and be yourself unless you're friends with the staff. The staff are Ike a group of naughty teenagers constantly smoking and making noise.

Really nice staff, breakfast is alright and the place is clean. It's also in a nice area. Would stay there again.

Terrible Spanish self-proclaimed 'manager'. Almost worst apathetic customer relations attitude I'd ever experienced from an accommodation. Very Soup Nazi-ish! (For those of you that get it). You'll understand when you see their response. In all fairness 2 out of 4 staff I interacted with were very cool (I mean cooler than average hostel staff which is already a high bar). 1 totally on par but the Spanish hombre? Where did they find this aberration of a human being. I'm guessing he's fried his paltry brain on the wrong mix of recreational stimulants mixed with a crappy upbringing or something. But he's totally out of touch with humanity. So what can you do. Grin and bear it. If you color perfectly between the lines, you probably won't have any issues, but if you run into any glitches don't expect an ounce of understanding or reasonability.

I cannot recommend this hostel enough for someone who intends on doing a lot of London exploring. Conveniently located near public transportation with the Tube being a short walk away and a bus stop even closer. The location is excellent and in a very nice neighborhood (almost too nice). I booked the 8 bed mixed dorm which was located on the very top floor. Just be aware there is no lift and it's definitely a long journey up so be prepared to work those thighs out. Although I was on the top floor I had a near flawless Wi-Fi connection. The hostel was very clean and maintained daily. Super friendly staff. The common areas are small with limited seating. An incredible value, my stay for 6 nights was only £111 which is truly unbeatable in London. I had a fantastic stay and would visit again and again.

Service and lovely staff. Very cute building. Only improve the cleanliness of the rooms (fluff and dust) but otherwise impeccable.

Location makes many attractions in London easily accessible and nearby. The service was always available, helpful, and polite. The room was clean, bed comfortable (though the bunk did have a fair gap from the wall), but a bit tight quarters. Additional extras, like locks, adapters and similar things were offered with a deposit, which was great since there was no charge for use. Overall, for the price I paid, I found the value superb, and any complaints negligible. Highly recommended!

Great and very friendly staff. Rooms very cosy and common room with chatacter ;) 1£ breakfast deserves a big plus. Will come again for sure when visiting London next time :)

Really cozy hostel with heart-warmingly helpful and joyful staff. I just hope I´m under 41 years my whole life so that I can stay here when ever I´m in London. I feel like going to London just to meet them again. :D The premises are good, usually no disturbances by the other guests and if there is, then you can contact staff and they will take care of it. Really good quality with affordable price in a great location next to Hyde park. Full 5/5 stars to me (and I´m picky).

Very good location and staff friendly, but it is a little complicated with so much on the ladder and really do not have vista, I recommend it if you're a traveler with limited budget.

Wonderful staff open 24 hours. Close to the tube and late night food. The hostel always has people to meet. Clean bathroom and beds. Sheets included and it's not too loud since it's on a side street. Good place to stay. Great place to make friends!

Is a hostel a little old but cozy. Does not have a lift but has all the services available. The bunk beds are very comfortable and the breakfast very cheap. Only 1 pound, and in addition to the they donate to charity. The bunk beds below have a cage for storing suitcases, with a padlock so you have good insurance. The bathrooms are small but have a shower toilet and sink, enough to stay.

I forgot new boots in my room which I had just bought for over £300. Asked Astor via mail if they found them. They did. I would have picked them up on occasion but Astor even offered to ship them to me. Very nice, right? Despite several mails and some waiting that never happened. Why? "Change of management. Now we can't find them anymore" was the last answer I got. Sad.

I was not expecting anything good on this background very much. Forgot to bring a towel, lock, adapter for sockets and pyjamas, all bought at the store around the corner. For Breakfast toast and cereal. There is a washing machine and dryer — paid. The Internet is also paid. Oh well — nice place.
