This is not a hotel! It's small, filthy and the shower, if you can call it that, is a joke! I have never experienced anything like this at such a price! A naughty thing that you can offer as a hotel! I strongly advise against this!

OK just for sleeping I spent 8 hours from midnight till 8am in my room, 90% asleep. That was long enough, the whole hotel is tired and dated. However the sheets and pillow were clean and fresh so sleep was good.

Inclined soils. At every step on a carpet that covers the plank floor you don't know if you're going to stumble, there's going to be a broken plank, or you're going to find a stable one. Otherwise, very well located and acceptable if you are looking for only one place to sleep (not rest)

Location was the only positive of this place. Right by the British museum. Room was like an abandoned prison cell, stains everywhere, floor was on a slant and the ensuite door didn't close and had a nail as a door stop. The whole room smelt of a mix between the toilet and curry powder. Really atrocious and a waste of money, spend an extra £20 and sleep without the worry you'll wake up on the other side of the room.

Do not stay here ever! Worst hotel I have been to all my life! The manager is rude, the rooms are awful and the shared bathroom is actually gross! It may be cheap but don't ever even think about staying here. The area is nice and there are a lot of other hotels on the same street. In the end we changed hotels and stayed at the The Grange Clarendon Hotel which we would highly recommend (there's not that much of a price difference) but they have nice beds, at Lonsdale we could feel the springs in the matress, nice staff, a nice and clean bathroom + the food you can order from room service is well prepared. So do yourself a favour and look for a different hotel than The Lonsdale!

I consider myself someone who travels a lot. This was one of my worst experiences ever. The check in was in time, but the staff was always rude and careless about all the guests (not just me). The room was falling apart and the bathroom is indeed a nightmare. There is no hot water. There is no water pressure. At night, I noticed that they turned off the heaters (! ). There was only one linen in a twin bed room. No internet available for the rooms. If you just want to leave your luggage prior or after check in, you have to pay 10 pounds (even if you are a guest! ). In short terms: avoid it. There is many other options for the same price that is far superior.

Seriously, please don't bother. Arrived at 6pm, check-in from 3pm, no rooms ready. Told no ensuite although I had paid for one. Told had to pay extra £30 cash only for ensuite. Investigated a little more into the 'extra £30', turns out to be £10pn but only staying 2 nights so tried to scam us before we were given a key. Ensuite was flimsy plastic floor with toilet squeezed in 1 corner and shower in the other with the sink in the middle. Had to step out of the 'ensuite' into bedroom for space to dry after shower. Nightmare using the toilet. Windows were sealed shut, no air available. Room was very basic, not worth the money we spent at all. No kettle, cups, tea or coffee available in the room. Ants on the floor. Bed very unsuitable for guests. No hairdryer available. Picnic table in the corner with a chair. Lonsdale HOSTEL definitely not a hotel. Avoid, better accommodation at the London Dungeons.

Dirty. Rude staff. Only great thing about the location. From there he arried everywhere.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Not worth the supposed savings the room smelled like sewer, there was no shampoo, the bed was crappy, the floor was sloping, the ceiling had humidity, the mattresses were horrible, the ceiling bulb was fused, the shower had almost no pressure, the window You could hardly open it, the receptionist was barefoot and the Wi-Fi (which you only offer at reception) was constantly disconnected. Under the conditions of the website I put that pay in the accommodation and they tried to charge one day before our arrival, they did not get it and we cancelled the reservation an hour before our arrival (although in the end they rectified and they accepted us again) was A third floor without a lift and the staff treatment left a lot to be desired. It's been the worst lodging in my life.

Uncomfortable beds, unfriendly service, no internet in the rooms. Not worth the price.

1 star, as I cannot give 0. Staff having a domestic via phone whilst watching a film, ignoring me. Prison cells have better features than my room. Interested to see what a hostel looks like by these guys if this is there hotel standards. Heating on constantly. Tv mounted pointing at the ceiling. Desk with a chair, but the chair is taller than the desk. Redeeming feature: Ability to leave.

The room was absolutely disgusting. The sheets looked like they hadn't been washed and the bathroom was filthy. The only thing good about this hotel was that I only had to stay there for one night.

It had a bed, the outside looks nice, you can walk to the British museum in about 5 mins.

Made the mistake of looking under the bed, after changing rooms and found. A police forensic shoe cover!

It's the dirtiest place in London! I think it would smell better if you crawled up the local tramps a*se! If you could give it 0 stars you would. If I could just do someone the favour of saving them the displeasure of staying here then it may help me endure the living hell of the 2 remaining nights here. Also I asked the receptionist for another wafer thin pillow and she gave me a stapler! I mean seriously!

Very good Hostel the attention without Wi-Fi.

It only serves to sleep. It's not good quality. Lousy attention.

Very old-fashioned and a little bit dirty. I don't think it should be called "hotel"… its location is perfect though.

Worst hotel ever met: dirty, noisy, uncomfortable, hateful staff, suspicion of bedgugs — avoid at all costs!

Warning* DO NOT STAY HERE! This is the worst "Hotel" that I have ever stayed in. Booked last min due to a problem with trains. I was given a room in a dirty basement with exposed pipes and damp on the wall, the lock wasn't secure and the noise from the vent outside was deafening despite being assured of a quiet room. There was a piece of cloth over the sink to hide a massive hole in the wood. The toilet was down the corridor I had to walk through a dirty and dark Laundry room to get to it. The taps on the dirty sink were both leaking and the noise from the stairs and the pipes kept me awake all night. The room was cheap but the condition of this room was unacceptable and it should be closed down. The pictures on the website are not a true representation of the room. I've attached the photos of the room I was given… Disgusting Doesn't even deserve the 1 star I had to give in order to review.

Biggest shi. Hole on the Erth. Since my mate book 2 days there not reading the reviews I think he must be on the scale a bit. Well going back to 70s without cleaning and refurb. Rooms cannot be secured as locks are hanging on 2 screws, bedding was stained by all sort of body fluid (washed) water no pressure and hot, very hot. We kept windows open at all time. We also blocked the door for the night by my mates bed as we didn't want to get chopped for organs. That's how it felt over there. Just avoid.

Doesn't feel safe. Very basic and overpriced. Decoration tired.

Although convenient for kings cross st Pancras stations very basic room generally dirty and grubby could do with decorating en-suite in our room was tiny cubicle in corner dripping rusty taps and dirty plughole in shower… no storage and no breakfast offered. Ok for one night if desperate but definitely no longer!

Unpleasant reception. Room in bad condition. The door doesn't close. Toilet and bathroom on the landing. No pressure in the shower.

Well located for "the book of mormon" show. (about 20mins walk) The room was clean, a basic bed, with a sink. The shared toilet and shower rooms were pretty clean, signs of others water marks on glass, but not filthy. Wide, but narrow stepped staircase, Keys are left at the 24hr reception. Just what you want for a 1 or maybe 2 night stay, for getting your head down and out to explore the city until you need to sleep again.

Non-existent reception, and uncomfortable staff. The rooms are small and borderline unsanitary, no shower or bathroom in the rooms. The bedding is worn and uncomfortable. Go your way to this hotel.

Hotel at the limits of practicability… however the location is fantastic. In my case it was an acceptable compromise to spend little staying in the center.

Excellent location howevet substandard rooms, non functioning bathroom and not very clean.

I give it 4 stars for the location/price combination. It could be a bit cleaner and definitely could have a better Wi-Fi.

Very bad room, questionable, worn and uncomfortable bedding. No sound insulation. Cheap hotel and we know why.

The location of the hotel is spectacular if what you want is to get around Central London. In addition, the location is pretty good.
Another thing is that we live in the world of the lollipop and think that by 50 pounds a day we have the right to stay in the Ritz. Just compare prices to understand what I mean.
The truth is that next time to go back to London I have clear where I smell me.

I have stayed there for 2 nights and I cant complain about hotel. You get what you pay for. I have a different problem with them. I have payed by cash and even that they took some money from my account foe no reason. Since 15/12 I have been trying to found out why and still nobody has responded, not for mails or calls so check your account guys when you leave hotel.

Tried to stay at the Lonsdale and had a terrible experience. It seemed like a normal European-hostile type hotel, moderately clean with fresh sheets and towels. However, once it became time for bed, bugs started crawling out of the blankets and up the walls. Ok, that's a risk you take — but the customer service for our complaint was TERRIBLE! We asked what could be done and were told we would have to leave the hotel. At one point we were offered to stay in the room with bugs, get a full refund, and not give a bad review. We asked if he knew if they had bed bugs and he said they had them before… seriously? Not a good experience!

I've stayed at the Lonsdale for quite a while. The staff are very polite and and helpful, the rooms are very spacious, the beds are very clean and changed frequently also the beds are comfortable. The showers are 5 stars and always clean. Great location good place to stay in central London. 11/11/2015

I stayed in this establishment on Sat eve 20th June 2015 (how on earth it can be described as a hotel is beyond me). It is disgusting, light fitting hanging off the wall, windows unable to be opened. No plug in the en suite (that is an insult to en suites), once in the ensuite if you try and close the door you are unable to turn around. As for the beds, words fail me, the so called mattress was so thin you could feel the metal base through the bottom. No wardrobe and an old dressing table with bits of wood falling off it. It was appalling.

Unfriendly staff, rooms in a near State of a squatting no quality of service when you ask something you feel bother. Short once not two.

Terrible, shower is as powerful as a tap leaking, the bed is unreasonably uncomfortable the springs have annoyed every single muscle in my body, my bottle of beer is the same height and width of the TV screen, and over 4 days before they replaced towels or cleaned the bathroom or room you stay in! wouldnt recommend it to anyone! oh and the floor is extremely tilted, not that that is a bad quality but on top of everything else I felt it's worth mentioning.

One undeserved extra star, thanks to an excellent location and ok price.

Excellent location but bedding is dirty, en-suites are laughable (more like en-cubicle) and the staff barely understands any English. Worth it simply for the amazing location, but definitely not for longer stays.

Avoid at all costs. the staff barely speak 2 words to you. there are rat traps in the hall ways. the rooms are poorly decorated and dirty.

Food is very average BUT the decor is gorgeous. A great spot to hold a party or for local West London drinks. A tad overpriced for what is on offer but they have deals on quite often so worth asking.

Crumbling structure. Poor hygiene. Mold. In Italy I don't think could have the practicability. For the first two nights didn't work on heating. On the mezzanine (where I was stationed) crazy night frost. Losses from the flush of the toilet. Not go back.

Very very cheap, you get what you pay for and less some. WIndows didnt close, dirty bedclothes and faulty plumbing in the "bathroom" — so bad I slept in my clothes on my own towels that b brought in case of any bedbugs.
