Cool place. Good and friendly service.

Absolutely wonderful for me. I had a suite with a queen size bed very comfy and room service meal were very plentiful. I would stay here again.

A great hotel to stay. The staff is friendly and cooperative. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood and is near to the city center. They have small kitchenette inside the room with a microwave which is very useful. The minibar was missing milk to make tea.

Convenient spacious rooms, in the central area. A short walk from the pub and Chinatown. All in all good value for money.

It was OK but cold of a nightime.

I love the decorations, sort of Victorian looking! The service is very good as well!

Great Hotel, funny set up with you having to have breakfast at the hotel next door and dinner in a different hotel also nearby. No drama but odd.

Die Zimmer waren hübsch und prachtvoll. Leider hatte es qualitativ nicht meinen Erwartungen entsprochen: der Fernseher Summe sehr laut; das Zimmer war zu kalt, da das Thermostat nicht zu finden war, da das Bett davor stand; die Vorhänge könnte man nicht vollständig schließen, da auch hier das Bett im Weg stand; die Treppe könnte man kaum rauf gehen, da man zum öffnen der Etagentür die Treppe ein paar Stufen wieder runter gehen musste.

Wish I could give higher than a 5 star! I am from Devon and came to London yesterday evening. My friend and I initially booked a hotel across the road called the "Lonsdale" (I recommend NOONE go there! ) which was absolutely vile and terribly unhygienic, it was like a grubby backpackers hostel! We had no option but to leave there and thought the Portland looked nice so we called them to explain our situation. We explained as I'm in London and have undergone an operation today we really needed a cosy room with an ensuite for the night before. They completely went above and beyond to accommodate us! It was no problem at all, they reserved the room until we came over to pay. They gave us a discount and upgraded our room to a king size bed! It was just beyond perfect. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we stepped through the door and were treated so so well. We both slept very very well we couldn't fault the whole experience at all. I left this morning very very happy. I would definitely recommend to others and would love to come back next time I'm in London. I cannot thank them enough. You really turned what was a horrible morning into a fantastic evening for me. Thank you thank you!

Good rooms but poor show when you have to go to another hotel for breakfast.

Very clean, conveniently located near mass transit, restaurants etc.

Spent just under £600 to take the family here for ONE night. Two rooms. Went for breakfast only to find we were not entitled to one. Brilliant when your grandkids are aged 1&2. Feel like I've been fleeced. Very angry. Thank you Hotel President for your wonderful breakfast. You saved the day.

Great location near Russell Square and quiet.

Very comfortable room, excellent breakfast (in the partner hotel next door). A bit too warm (but I've never been in a British hotel that wasn't) and faint rumbles from the underground (basement room)

Noisey effecting sleep. TV buzzed loudly. Staff required prompting for several things at breakfast, were just stood about.

Clean hotel in a great location. Decor a bit dated and some sound proofing on the windows would help but otherwise a pleasant stay.

This hotel is comfortable and clean but nothing spectacular. The rooms are very large as far as London hotels go. But the place needs some updating to fix the peeling wallpaper and the stained carpet.

The decor of the room was elegant but dated. However, I found the staff to be extremely polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent and easily accessible via public transport.

I have stayed here with work as we get a company rate and it is very interesting stay. It is a great location only 10 minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road and less than 4 minutes to Holborn, and right next door to the British Museum, Its perfect for Tourists. It is an old building however, nicely renovated inside and with modern bathrooms. I also liked the fact there was a small kitchen in the room with a fridge and microwave. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms too. There is Wi-Fi in the rooms and it is nice and calm as it overlooks a park so there is no loud traffic at night. The breakfast is good, however only cold food, with great service.

An OK experience here. The main problem was that my room was opposite a lift. This wouldnt necessarily be a problem, but the floorboards which ran under the corridor outside must have gone straight into my room, because every time anyone walked past my bed bounced up and down! Wifi was also a bit slow. Breakfast was great.

Room was 29c. No aircon and probably the smallest room I've ever seen. 2 hours sleep all night.

A pretty good value for 94 pounds. The room was huge, well-furnished. Beds weren't the greatest but we could sleep on them okay. The only complaint is the the room was quite cold — though the bathroom was quite warm which was a positive. Seemingly no way to control the heat in the main bedroom. Hotel is well-located, good area. Very close to British Museum. Breakfast buffet was included and served in the hotel next door. Quite good food and plentiful. Hotel staff were a bit standoffish but they were very accommodating in letting us keep our bags there both before and after checkout which was a plus. Overall a good value.
