We love the layout here. Friendly service. Casual beachfront atmosphere. Perfect for tuning out the world for a while.

Not worth the money. We checked in and left 2 hours later to stay somewhere else. Rooms had cool features but you could hear every little thing around you (person showering next door, dishes being washed, people walking above you), there were kids hanging in trees outside our room, lightbulbs were out in our room, bathroom had a bad smell although it looked like it had been remodeled recently. We paid $30 more to stay elsewhere. The front desk agent was the best part of the hotel. She was extremely nice and helpful although the “night staff” was not. Very rude and demeaning. The beach at this hotel can become crowded quickly (not relaxing, not a good amount of space to sit). My fiancé and I were excited to see and stay at this property until we actually arrived. There is only one restaurant nearby and they have strict attire restrictions. I’ve never written a negative review but when visiting Maui, you should consider other hotels and take note of the other negative reviews because they are not far off.

Best place on the island. Great staff, awesome rooms no matter which one you get. Wish I could come every year.

Quiet, laid back hotel that's kitchen rooms and regular rooms. Has a pool and next to wonderful beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Some rooms need minor renewal like getting old stovetop etc. However it's our 4th time coming here and we love the area and our stay.

Simple but very nice and clean rooms, most of them with ocean view, beautiful beach attached. Rooms have a small kitchen, free Wi-Fi and daily maid service. Gas barbecues available for personal usage, pool, very friendly personnel.

All said and done paid 1000$ for three nights. Breakfast was sparse. Walls are very thin. Can hear everything above. Exclusive groups of retirees appear to frequent this place. Lazy, morbidly obese security guard is a beach chair Nazi. Don't walk more than 5 feet from it or he will track you down and tell you to put it away. I didn't pay all that money to be annoyed. Others had similar experiences.

Impressive location, beautiful atmosphere! Waking up to waves crashing out our doorsteps is something that can not be beat! Leave your flip flops in your room because the beach is literally at your door! :) Their website did no justice explaining just how close to the beach the hotel is. The sunsets are incredible. The beach is perfect for swimming or catching up on some down time. Beach chairs are provided. Beach towels also provided in the rooms. Our room was kept very well maintained. Early morning tidy up was a nice surprise to come back to. Highly recommend staying here!

Location, location, location! Informal ocean front accommodations. Wooden architecture so of course expect ambient guest noise. Privacy plus instant access to much you might require. Peaceful. This close to the unreal is hard to come by.

I hope to make it back here one day. We ONLY stayed two nights, but I would have stayed longer if giving the opportunity. Suite included kitchenette, BBQ'S are avaliable around the fresh water pool. There was no AC in the suite, but there were a lot of windows in the suite, I felt safe leaving them open while away and at night, There is day and night security. My suite was dated, but not 60's or 70's, more 40's or 50's, which I really liked. The beach front was awesome too. To the left was rough with white capped waves, to the right was more calm. Little lizard running around were neat too.

Our first time staying at the mauian and we will def be back! Location is absolutely beautiful. Staff is was always friendly and nice. Our new fav place to stay.

Excellent beach, rooms big clean tidy but continental breakfast is not up to standard, no fresh milk, no cereal, no yogurt, and paper plates and cups unless you bring your own from the room, very basic breakfast I suggest you buy your own for breakfast as room has good kitchenette but no kettle, No iron or ironing board and no aircon, its a great position and I would say its like glamping. Overall relaxing if thats what your after with great ocean frontage and very friendly staff. The best part of this place is the amazing beach with wonderful sunsets.

Nice hotel but away from the activity centers.

Amazing location. Right on the beach. Very nice beach and beautiful water. Rooms are not huge but are modern and very nice. No AC so you have to keep the door and windows open to get air in the room.

This is our third time coming here. Perfect beach vacation. Nice calm shores, quiet community. Serves breakfast, laundry on site. Has some rooms with full kitchen. Attentive repairs if something ever goes wrong. Incredible sunsets.

We love this place. Everyone is warm and welcoming. For about the same price as a room in the far reaches of a big resort, you can be right on a beautiful beach. It's a quiet place with lovely grounds and clean rooms. We like to get the rooms that have the kitchenettes, though they do offer a light breakfast and there are a couple of restaurants right up the beach. If you want a party atmosphere with nightlife and swim-up bars, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for a friendly, quiet, lovely spot, this is it.

Fantastic breakfasts. Clean rooms. No tv, but that matches the spirit of the hotel.

A very short walk to the ocean and a great and cozy place.

My wife and I love this place. This is our second time and it is just as amazing as the first time. The atmosphere is very laid-back. The hospitality and service of all the staff is wonderful. Not having a TV or phone in the room makes it very relaxing, there is free Wi-Fi so you are able to connect if you want to watch TV or stay connected to the world. Not having air conditioning is not an issue, it's environmentally friendly and the rooms have ceiling fans in and all the windows open so there is always a great breeze. The complimentary breakfast in the Ohana room is very lovely, its from 7:30 to 9 every morning and as juices such as lava in Orange comma great coffee, and Hawaiian fruits and bagels. There is not a restaurant at the hotel however we are walking distance to many great hotels and there a grocery store in other convenience stores just a short walk up as well. The beach is very beautiful in they provide beach towels and beach chairs that you can take down and enjoy the entire day. This hotel is very beautiful and great for couple as well as a family.

The Location is great, slightly secluded. Very quiet yet friendly guests. The service is a little out of the way and unfriendly. But the rooms are great.

I absolutely loved our room! Right on the beach and you fall asleep to the waves crashing! So romantic for a couples getaway! It was walking distance to a great restaurant and the surf shop! I will definitely come again.

Cutest little hotel ever. The grounds are very pretty to walk through and easy access to the beach. Rooms don't have air conditioning, but they stay pretty breezy in the mornings and evenings. Not very many choices for breakfast, but it's decent.

I have been here many times. We are going again in a week. This is truely paradise at its best! who cares about no TV. Enjoy the sounds of the ocean waves and forget about everything and relax. Exceptional.

My girlfriend and I had a terrible experience at the Mauian. We had saved up a long time for our trip to Maui. We stayed at a nice bed and breakfast for the beginning of our trip and wanted to splurge and stay at a nice place at the Mauian for the last 2 nights to end our trip. When we arrived we were really disappointed. First of all, our "partial ocean view" room did not have a view of the ocean. You have to go outside to the public space for the ocean. I personally think this is quite dishonest. After that, we looked around the room itself and it was pretty bad as well. This place looks like it has not been renovated in 20+ years, the room was not clean, the bathroom was dirty and the couch was dirty with a big stain on it. The place was also on the main floor and you can hear everything outside and in other rooms. There is no air conditioning, you need to open the blinds to let air in, but then everyone walking by can look inside your room. There is also no phone in the room and poor quality Wi-Fi connection. To be fair, the location is good and the staff dealt with our complaint to the best of their ability. We ended up only staying one night and were refunded our money for the second night. My problem is with the owners and management who misrepresent their rooms as "partial ocean view" when it is not and who just make money from the hotel but do not bother to invest their money back into the rooms. We paid 2/3 of a grand for two nights at this place.

Visited many times over the last 44yrs. Very soothing place.

We had a Wonderful Time. We were there 2004 March Before the remodel. For our Honeymoon. One night it Rained 17 inch in 24 hrs. It set the Fire Alarms Off. What a Time we Had. The Grass was a lake. And blended right into to Pool. We have it all on video. We would set our Camera on the Railing and we walked down To the Beach every evening to watch the sunset. When we got home an watched it on our TV. THE WHALES we Jumping out of the water. We never saw from the Beach. So that was a Treat to Have Captured it on Video.

The Mauian is a hidden gem on the west side of Maui. Small complex with an outstanding beach. We had a wonderful time and the people manage the Mauian a very friendly. No TV's in the rooms, but WI-FI access is OK. Great place to spend your vacation on Maui.

We picked this hotel because it was right off the beach and it looked like the type of place we had always pictured when people say they visited Hawaii. We weren't disappointed! The staff was extremely friendly, the rooms were great and the beach access was perfect! The beds were so comfortable. (memory foam — yeah! ). The only issue we had was that it got pretty warm in the rooms in the evening and it would have been nice to be able to turn the ceiling fans up a little higher to get the air circulating a bit more or have the option of a secondary fan. But all in all, the place was great and we would definitely recommend it to people who want a nice quiet relaxing hotel to stay at.
